P & M Mechanical Heating & Air Conditioning

This is a family-run business that evidently values its customers. From the first visit right through to the final walk-through, the entire team displayed professionalism, courtesy, and honesty. They provided printed estimates during the first meeting never tried to convince us to buy more than we needed. They were in regular contact by phone throughout the process to coordinate schedules and answer questions. The work was completed at the time promised, and -- despite the fact that the crew found some additional items that needed attention during the course of the job -- we were charged exactly the amount of the original estimate and not a penny more. (And we then received a call to indicate we were being credited back some funds, because the supplier of a particular part had provided it at a cost lower than anticipated!) I wish this company did more than just heating and a/c, because if they did, I'd hire them for everything else I need, too. The inspector who came to check the system for permitting commented on the perfection of the work -- and how rare that is. And the owner (Paul) then came back personally to check everything himself, make sure we were satisfied, and answer any additional questions. Can't remember EVER having such a great experience with a service provider before. Highly recommend.

P & M made appointments and kept them. The workers were polite and professional. They came on three separate occassions to check for leaks from the monitoring equipment they put in place. They reserached the original condensers warranty information and determined the unit was a "builders" model and no longer made. They quoted a very good price for a new improved condenser or offered to try and repair the original unit. We decided to go with the newer model. Apparently the coolant that the original unit used has become obsolete and consequently hard to come by and expensive.

We had a new heater/ac unit installed 2 years ago. Approximately 6 months after installation the thermostat failed; since it was under warranty, it was replaced. After 6 months the new thermostat also failed. We were unable to get satisfactory service from the company that installed the unit. Calls for service went unanswered or rudely answered; the owner of the company told me "We're busy, whadda ya want me to do?!" Unbelievably this company was a referral from a real estate agent! So, I searched on angie's and found P&M. They were a breath of fresh air, professional and polite. I called on a Thursday and was able to make an appointment for the following day. Paul confirmed the appointment, arrived on time and was very courteous. He checked the heater/ac unit but couldn't pinpoint the exact problem. But with the description of the problem, he suspected that the motor was going out and that he would confirm with the manufacturer. He suggested that since the parts warranty was about to expire shortly, we should go ahead and order the part ($850). When the part was delivered, Michelle called to setup a time, and the job was completed. All-in-all a great job and a great staff!

Paul gave detailed estimate and gave overview of what's involved in replacing the furnace. He had separate appointment to inspect the work site a week before the actual work began in order to get parts that may be needed for this particular installation. During the installation, his workers were careful not to damage the walls. They were not in a rush to finish the job but took time to get things done right -- this does not mean they were incompetent or lazy. After the workers finished, Paul inspected the work and found couple of minor issues that were taken care of promptly. Because I was happy with the job, I asked them to work on the heating unit for my rental property. Again, I was very happy with that job they did. I will continue to get their service and recommend them to my neighbors.

The job went well and Paul and his team did a great job overall.

P&M were great. their estimator was very knowledgeable and gave me options on several points. He was clean, accurate, and helpful. the work started as scheduled and the two man crew that spent 2 days doing the work were effective, efficient, and clean. They knew what they were doing, and now I have heat all over my house. I called P&M back to come check the heater fan a couple of days after the work, and they showed up as promised and did the checking and offered me some additional advice that was helpful I would definitely use P&M again.

This was a lesson in OUTSTANDING customer service. Our furnace conked out on the coldest night of the yr & we were unable to get someone to repair it instead of replace it, especially since that heater company no longer exists. After freezing thru 2 nites, I checked Angie's List & called P&M in desperation. Michelle (the M in P&M) was so calming & reassuring that Paul would do his best to try to fix the problem. Not only that, but their company loaned us 2 space heaters! What a concept & customer pleaser. How much clearer I could think when it was not 40 degrees in the house. Paul arrived when he said, was not rushed, found the problem, pulled the part from his truck & in short time we had heat. Instead of an unexpected $3,000 or so for a new furnace, he replaced the part for $359. Did he then rush out of the house? No. He spent time discussing the thermostat & where we could put a condenser if some day we get a new furnace that is A/C ready. Paul & Michelle are just the nicest & competent people to deal with.

They came on time, were professional and knowledgeable, then sent me a reasonable estimate in a short amount of time. I did not use only because I came into an unexpected, unrelated financial problem.

It went very well. I was happy with Paul and everybody there. They showed up when they were supposed to. They cleaned up and did a good job. They seemed to know what they were doing. I thought they were great to work with. They did what they said they would, showed up when they said they would, and finished when they said they would.

P & M Mechanical is amazing! My 90 year old father's heater quit working during this season's first cold spell, and P & M went out of their way to schedule us as soon as possible and they also loaned us a space heater until they could get the job done. When Paul, the owner, made his first visit to the house, he thoroughly explained all my dad's options and gave us what I believe was a very fair price for the work to be performed. Their service far exceeded anything I hoped for - when Michelle called with the installation date, she also gave me the date the city inspector would come (they even called and set up the appointment with the city), and the date that Paul would come out to do the final inspection of the work. All I had to do was be there, and, with my busy schedule, I really appreciated that. The installers were very prompt, friendly and knowledgable, and the job was completed in 1 1/2 days. They thoroughly cleaned up all debris before leaving and perfectly installed the in-house return air register - no chips or gouges in the plaster around the perimeter of the register. P & M Mechanical gave us friendly, personalized service in a clean, efficient and timely manner at a great price. I would DEFINITELY use them again!

It was a pleasure dealing with Michelle, Paul, and their workers. Extremely satisfied with responsiveness and professionalism of all involved.

P&M is family owned and runs a top notch shop and the workers that worked on both houses were courteous and helpful. The workers showed up on time, cleaned up after themselves and everything was completed according to schedule in ~1 1/2 days. The installations basically went without a hitch. The communication with the owners is amazingly good; they are very responsive. The high ratings on Angie's list was reinforced with the experience we had.

My husband was here for most of the service and dealt with the details, but I know they installed an new outtake vent and some lines that were not working in the system. They actually flushed the entire system looking for leaks and did a very thorough job of looking for all possible culprits to our problems.

The heater was installed with just enough clearance in the existing closet space. An alternate installation in the attic would have cost more. The installation with the heater fully functional was completed in one day. There were, how ever, several other items including one found by the city inspector. These items were promptly worked on and fixed.

Over, the work they did was very good. The only reason I gave a B to responsiveness and punctuality was because this whole process took about two weeks to complete. I think the company must have a lot of business because they seem very busy. And I suppose that is a good thing. There were a couple of times when they said they would call back to give an update, and I ended up having to call them. However, there were other times that they called back promptly. Michele, in particular, was very helpful. I will use them again.

I called on a Monday to make an appointment for an estimate. They told me that Wednesday would be ok for the estimate and I agreed. On Tuesday i got a phone call confirming that the next day i had an appointment. Wednesday morning i got a phone call canceling the appointment and was told that the person in charge of the estimate was going out of town for two weeks on vacation and no service could be done without him. Why not tell me that in the first place and I would not have changed my schedule to accommodate the appointment that i thought i had! Very dissappointing guess they don't want my money!

Everything went great, from my initial call through the visit itself. The office staff was courteous and friendly. Jose, arrived within the time quoted, checked everything out, vacuumed out the furnace and replaced the filter. They did a great job and I will definitely use them again.

Paul was prompt (early even) and was very professional. He seemed knowledgeable and even wore shoe covers when coming in the house.

From the first telephone contact to the final recommendation, this was a VERY positive experience. First, Michelle answered the phone and when I told her my dilemma (central heater suddenly blowing cold air), she recommended that I try cycling on and off the thermostat and the power to the heater because sometimes they will reset. If this had solved the problem, there would be no need for a service call!! While the power cycling did not do the trick, I especially appreciate trying something simple first. Paul came the next day and found the trouble (a cracked ignitor) and had the new part on his truck. Fixed and done. Then I asked him a question about the A/C portion of my Heating/Cooling system (the drain pan under the evaporator overflows and causes the living room ceiling to leak). Another A/C and Heating company had said the problem was a mismatched system and tried to sell me a new $7K system! Paul traced the problem back to a kink in the rubber hose that is supposed to divert the condensation down the drain! It's a $3 part. While he did not fix the problem now in February because it's very hard to make sure the A/C is working properly when the weather is cold, he said he'd be glad to come back after it warms up and service the A/C. I can't tell you how happy I am to have found P&M. They are just the kind of people you want to work with!

I called P&M Mechanical on a Friday. It was too late to get anyone out that day but Michelle loaned me two electrical heaters for the tenants to use over the weekend. Paul was out on Monday morning to look at the job and recommended cleaning the units and replacing the control box which consists of the pilot light and the on/off control. I also asked to have the heaters converted to a thermostat control. The work was scheduled for the next day. Once the heaters were removed for cleaning all three were found to have cracks in them. I spoke to Michelle in the office and got a price to replace all the heaters. I agreed to the work and Michelle delivered the heaters to my building complex. Poncho and Jose installed all three units in one day. Once the job was completed, Paul, one of the owners, came out a few days later to check the work to be sure everything was working properly. I went from a $1500 job to a final bill of $6000. All of the people I came in contact with at P&M Mechanical were very professional from start to finish. I would definitely use them again. I am presently awaiting a bid to have central air and heating installed in my unit. Many thanks to Michelle, Paul, Poncho and Jose for a job well done!

Wonderful! Paul showed up in the time period agreed upon, quickly fixed the electrical problem and provided and installed the thermostat. He didn't charge me for fixing the electrical problem, including it in the thermostat installation.

went well.............WAY to expensive

Starting in summer of '08 I noticed the A/C not being able to cool the house properly. I had two other A/C contractors out to "fix" the problem. The first contractor insisted that my thermostat was broken and installed another one (it turns out it was NOT broken and I kept the original). In addition, they found a coolant leak in a valve which they replaced and refilled the coolant. About 2 weeks later, I had the same problems, same contractor came out and insisted nothing was wrong with the unit. I called another contractor and they determined that the previous contractor did not refill the tank completely. Winter came and I didnt need to run the A/C. In summer '09 the problem was back yet again. I called P&M they found and fixed ALL the problems. In addition, I asked them to re-install the original thermostat, and it works fine. I found P&M to be highly qualified, professional and thorough in their work. I highly recommend them as your heating and air contractor.

We had a ceiling leak caused by a rusted through overflow pan. I called P & M Mechanical because of the recommendations made on Angies List and the closeness of the business to our home.This was an excellent experience, the hard working crew (Luis and Jose) were very courteous and professional. Paul and his wife Michelle, the owners, are very personal and professional. Paul came out and gave us an estimate. We were fearing we would have to replace our system, but Paul reasured that our system was old but in good shape and just needed some upgrading to get it working more efficiently. The pricing was fair and we are very happy with the results.
