I called and talked to the electrician. I told him that I had one circuit out in the house and needed it to be fixed. Simple enough. Instead I got the "Up-sell". He came in with the electric meter around his neck, opened the sub-panel, took one look and said that all the wiring was too old and that he needed to re-wire the house. I played dumb, let him quote out the job and listened to him tell me how much money he makes. After he left I fixed the problem myself. It could have been an easy $75, but instead he got nothing but a bad review.
Description of Work: No service performed. I requested a quote to troubleshot an electrical problem. This is a rental property and just got the contract to fix and rent. I didn't have time to do the work myself. Job should have cost $75.

Response from Armor Electric
This member contacted us on Jun 16th via email. The following is a copy/paste of the body of the email sent by him: “Hello, I have a rental unit that the tenant said was without power in half the house. They said it has been happening over time. Either the breakers have gone bad over time or the bus needs to be replaced. FYI, I contacted another electrician, discussed pricing and they were supposed to fix this morning. They were a no-show. Very disappointing. Please contact me at your earliest convenience. Thank you,”. I precisely remember my visit with this member. When I visited the site on June 20th 2012 at 11am and looked at the condition of the wiring at the house, I noticed that the house has the original wiring which was cloth insolated with absolutely no grounding system. The old/outdated circuit breakers at the sub panel were due for an upgrade. I thoroughly explained to this member about the fact that our company does not offer troubleshooting services on cloth-insolated wiring since we have noticed a track record in incidents due to the very existence of the mentioned type of wiring. I then suggested him to contact many other companies who might offer troubleshooting services for his problem. I also took my time in explaining to this member about the reason why we don’t offer troubleshooting on the outdated wiring type his father’s house possessed; which is our company liability. The insulation of cloth insolated wiring tends to shatter into pieces and break as the technicians work on them, leaving the costumers with a potential fire-hazard situation and us with a possible law-suit. I also informed him that there are companies who may be less concerned about the above two factors and perform the troubleshooting for him. He then asked me for a quote on the rewire and we sent him an email containing the quote the same evening; in which he never responded to till month later with this review. From the day one at this company, we have prided ourselves to deliver the highest quality electrical services possible in the most ethical manner. Our member’s reviews are a testament to that. Costumers satisfaction will remain as our number one goal in this company as we expand our operations throughout LA and southern California. Even though we are completely aware that in this economy some costumers may be in a crunch to keep their cost low in order to get by through the tough times, we will continue to maintain our professionalism in the most ethical manner as we have sofar. We will not gamble with the safety of our costumer in order to save them money. We do appreciate every member’s feedback since these reviews give us a chance to explain what this company stands for. This threat is our only gateway to communicate with our potential customers and we do not take that for granted.

I couldn't have had a better working experience . From the first meeting with Mehdi (Heiderian), I was completely put at ease. He took the time to completely explain every detail of what the project would entail and gave me a very workable timeline. He showed up at every meeting on time and was very friendly and professional. He made sure all the permits were in place and was present for every inspection. I really only had to hire him and he handled everything from the work to clean-up without any complaints from the tenants. He and his crew got the job done within a week and he kept me informed of the progress of his work throughout the job. If I ever need any more electrical work I will be sure to contact him and refer him to friends and family.
Description of Work: Complete rewiring of duplex-removal of old wiring and replacement of switches and light fixtures including installation of new outlets, hardwired and battery operated smoke alarms, GFCI outlets and junction boxes. Replacement of meter panel and breakers. Removal of outside overhead hanging wires and installation of underground wiring to garages.

Called on a Friday to find out about installing a new light fixture. Spoke to Mehdi, who was very helpful, professional, and asked pertinent questions about the fixture location so that he would be sure to have the right tools and ladders to reach it. He was able to schedule time for me the next morning - I was very happy about this because I had a huge box in my entryway containing the new fixture, and I was eager to get it up and out of the way as soon as possible. Mehdi arrived right on time. He was knowledgeable and professional, and did a great job. He checked the new fixture to make sure it was working properly before installation, and was very careful with it in order to make sure the finish did not get scratched during the installation. Mehdi explained what he was doing as he did it, and gave me some information about my wiring that would be useful for future jobs. I asked him to look at a few other odds and ends in the house that will need future work, and he gave me some important info that will help me as I decide what jobs to do next. I would definitely recommend him and will use him again.

Initially we were planning to get a new electrical panel and some electrical repairs throughout the house. However, after a complete electrical inspection of the 2800 square foot home, there were numerous issues that would be better solved by a complete house rewire. In addition, updated wiring was also done on an outside jacuzzi. The amount listed above did not include lighting fixtures--but Medhi was extremely helpful in securing fair prices on those items. We have nothing but praise for Medhi. He is knowledgeable, hard-working (long days, trustworthy, meticulous, and truly a wonderful person! In addition, his crew shares all of those characteristics. They work very well together. It's not everyday that one gets the "whole package"! We appreciated that Medhi kept us informed as to every stage of the process and his patience was limitless with any question or concern. It was a little scary thinking of staying in a home while undertaking a rewire. To my surprise, the crew cleaned up every day before they left. We were never without power because the project was well thought out and undertaken methodically. We would definitely call Armor Electric again and recommend them highly to anyone!

Called Armor and asked to have Medhi come by to give us a quote for items found in an inspection report. Medhi called back immediately and although he was on another job, offered to meet us at 8PM after he was done at the other job site. Met Medhi at another time, and he was very thorough. He walked around the entire house with us, explaining everything as he went. Medhi gave us a written quote within 2 hours, which detailed what would be done and the payment schedule. After we hired Medhi, his crew showed up promptly every day at 7AM. They worked all day, and cleaned the house up for us when they left at 7PM. Each day, his crew covered our furniture and made sure everything was as clean as possible at the end of the day. They were very careful with our hardwood floors as well. We would come by the house unannounced and Medhi would stop what he was doing and show us the progress. Medhi and his crew finished ahead of schedule. Medhi also suggested that we buy new fixtures and he would put them up for us. Medhi also suggested can lights in the kitchen, and while our budget did not allow for can lights at this point, he did wire the kitchen on 2 circuits so that if we want to install can lights at a later point, we can do so. Medhi guided us through the inspection process, and when the inspector had a couple of items that needed replacing, Medhi did so, without raising the price and re-scheduled the inspection. The inspection was over in 3 minutes the next day, and we passed. Although Medhi does not patch the holes in the walls, he did patch the stucco outside the house. There were 3 holes he patched. Also, Medhi recommended a drywaller he has worked with before who would patch the holes for us, and that recommendation was welcomed. I would highly recommend Armor electric. Medhi is smart, caring and professional. He has been in this business for at least 9 years and he and his crew want to get the job done, on time.

Mehdi and his team were the ideal solution. I have never worked with a contractor who provided such comprehensive, courteous and thoughtful service as Armor Electric. From our first conversation I could tell Mehdi cared. He was eager to hear all my concerns and I never felt rushed. Over the phone he asked me to describe the problem and was quick to set up a time to look at the home. He was sensitive to our schedule, flexible and punctual. We have new hardwood floors and he was even quick to remove his shoes before treading on them. He encouraged me to tell him everything we were experiencing electrically throughout the home, even if it was off topic. Later I realized, like a good doctor, things that seemed unrelated to me made sense to him and might be contributing to the problem. After a thorough inspection, he came to the conclusion that our 37 year old main panel needed replacing, which included installing a proper ground, and wiring to the roof where it connects with the Edison main power line. In fact, the roof connection was so bad, there was evidence of arcing and melting, (as was also evident in the panel). This was why when wind blew it would tug on the connection and cause flickering. He took photos of what I could not see and educated me on what I was looking at. In fact, he explained everything in such detail I know have a layman's understanding of electricity and how it relates to our home. We decided to follow his recommendation and install a new 200 amp waterproof panel and grounding system, that will provide plenty of room for our expanding electrical needs. He also understood I wanted to protect my new entertainment center, so he agreed to wire a new circuit just for it in the living room. I wanted the work done before Christmas (two weeks) and he provided a schedule that would achieve that goal. Everything was made very clear, and within hours of him leaving I received his quote via email. The price was reasonable and competitive so I accepted without hesitation. As he described in his work plan, Mehdi pulled all necessary permits with the city on time and made arrangements to arrive the following Saturday as agreed. They were right on time at 8 am and worked hard all day until evening in inclement weather. The team was clean, friendly and courteous. Mehdi kept us informed as the job progressed and showed me the parts as he unpackaged them and laid them out, describing their function. They finished late in the evening and Mehdi was still patient and thorough in finalizing the main power connection on the roof in the dark. Everything was installed cleanly and correctly, and the patching was done very well. Excellent job. The week following the installation, Mehdi kept me up to date on the inspection from the city, which we passed, and tracked my experience regarding installing the entertainment center and how the electrical system had been performing since his work. Everything fell into place exactly as he described, and today Edison came to hook up the main power line, which they decided to replace. I had a question about Edison's approach to the power line hook up, so I called Mehdi. He gave me very useful information as to what to expect and even came by on his lunch hour after Edison left for a final inspection! He assured my wife and I that everything was done right, is up to code, and is working wonderfully. The peace of mind my wife and I feel is hard to describe. With young children in the house, this was a nagging problem that caused great concern. Now, we are confident in our new electrical system and can enjoy our Christmas guests without flickering lights or worry. I cannot say enough good things about Mehdi and Armor Electric. They are a model for other contractors to follow. I will measure all future workers to their standard. My mother-in-law happened to be there they day they performed the work and was impressed enough to have him perform work on her home too. One last note, Mehdi and I discovered we shared an admiration for Steve Jobs, of whom he was reading a biography. To my amazement, he dropped it by today as a gift for me to read. Like I said, Mehdi and his company, Armor Electric, are outstanding in every way. They provide excellent service and truly care. I will be using them for future jobs and they have my highest recommendation to anyone considering electrical work in their home or business.
Description of Work: Lights were flickering in our home for several months on an upper floor circuit and randomly on certain hall lights and outlets. I was worried about the safety of the electrical system. The problem worsened during high winds. I previously had an electrician come out who only changed a few breakers at the main panel. The temporary fix did not last and the problem soon reemerged. Lights were now turning off completely then turning back on by themselves. Also, I wanted to purchase and install a new entertainment center but was afraid it would be damaged by the unstable electrical situation. Overall, no previous electrician ever diagnosed the electrical system to identify the root problem and provide solutions to ensure the safety of the home.

First, Mehdi returned my call promptly. We arranged a time for meeting. He was prompt. He gave me an assessment of my needs and sent me a bid. We agreed on the services to be performed. He and his crew showed up exactly on time. They performed all services as promoised. They thought it might take two days, which we scheduled, but they stayed late and finished in one day. The work was top-notch. I am extremely pleased with the services of Armor Electric. I would recommend Mehdi Heidarian to anyone. It is rewarding to find a contractor that you know you can trust. I have a few more projects coming up, and I will not hesitate to call Mehdi to do those.

Exceptional service at very fair price! Mehdi was courteous, knowledgeable, and very professional. He went out of his way to help me from coming out on a weekend to going to find a replacement part and returning quickly. He was thorough, pleasant and explained what he was doing. He checked that he completed all the requests and left no cleanup. I will definitely call Armor Electric again. Best customer service I've experienced with an electrical company!

From pulling the permits to working with SC Edison Armor Electric did it all. Medhi and his assistant arrived on time and began the job. The installation was excellent from start to finish. Even down to papering and re-stuccoing wall area around my new electrical panel box and caulking the holes. They cleaned up everything and left my home the way they found it. Once the job was complete Medhi reviewed the new panel with me and instructed me on the new safety features I now have. I am very happy that I now have a new electrician that I can trust.
Description of Work: Medhi Heidarian came to give me an estimate for a new electrical panel - he was very professional and during the estimate explained everything in detail so I understood the whole process. He is very customer focused. His bid was $2500 less then another bid I received. I hired Armor Electric to install my panel.

We bought our home 3 years ago and knew for sure that we needed an electrical upgrade, (we had an original fuse box and unattractive wires strung from our back wall of the house to the garage (illegally) and the utility pole in our yard. We'd experienced a couple of power outages, but experienced the very last straw when all of the lighting on one side of the home all the way to the detached garage went out. We'd gotten estimates from several electricians, but Mehdi of Armor Electric was by far the most professional and thorough, which was apparent from the start. Part of the reason we'd put off the upgrade for so long was because we knew we'd have to invest thousands of dollars, and we felt like we just didn't have the money for it. Armor Electric is not on the cheap end but REST ASSURED you are in good hands and the investment really is worth the restful sleep at night. Not only did Mehdi and his professional team come in and COMPLETELY rewire our entire 1500+ sq. ft. house and detached garage over a long weekend, it was the extras added like exterior outlets that were not part of the quote, adding underground piping just in case we decide to add cable and internet to the garage in the future (all his suggestions) and the consideration for your home and personal space that really puts Armor Electric in a class of their own. Mehdi also suggested and installed recessed lighting in our living room and completely transformed the space, he also added spotlights for the artwork we have on the wall and set them on dimmers for mood lighting. Excellent suggestion, it's made all the difference in the world. I would recommend this company to ANYONE that was looking for a professional, exceeding expectations, licensed and well trained electrician that takes extreme pride in his business and workmanship. i was also present for the inspection with DWP, and the inspector made several comments on the quality and workmanship.

We contacted several different electrical contractors; 2 responded, Armor and another. Mehdi from Armor came in professional, confident and knowledgeable about the electrical work that needed to be done after reviewing the property. While we originally only wanted some simple fixes, it was apparent after the walk through with Mehdi that more work needed to be done. We made the decision to completely upgrade the house for safety, quality of life, and resale value. Mehdi brought in is team very quickly and pretty much finished the job within a week. His patch guys patched up before inspector could review, which was an error according to the inspector, and some minor fixes needed to be made to pass inspection and meet code. But Mehdi took care of those fixes quickly and to our satisfaction.
Description of Work: We contracted with Mehdi at Armor to rewire an old (circa 1949) home we purchased. Work to be done included upgrade (new) panel, complete rewire, smoke detectors and motion light switches, permit, inspection and patch.

Mehdi Haidarian responded to my voice mail within fifteen minutes of my first call, and was at my house the next day to give an estimate for replacing all of the wiring and all of the sockets in both the house and the detached garage, as well as providing power to the garage in a way that will not kill anyone, which I appreciate. He had a great deal of familiarity with electrical problems that very old houses can have, and quickly zeroed in on the important items that had prompted me to want to have the work done. He spoke in great detail, noting the problems, stating the situations where there were recent changes to the electrical codes, and making some good suggestions. They started on the day they said they would, and took about two days longer than I'd expected, but it was a very big job and I consider it acceptable -- the problem was not just laying wire and installing outlets, it was correctly wiring a home that had undergone multiple additions over many years, correcting many instances where earlier people had taken shortcuts and used the wrong materials. This is a house I plan to live in for a good number of years, and I don't just want it to be insurable -- I want to feel safe, and I am very pleased with the quality of the work they did. Additionally, Mehdi Haidarian said with some pride that I would get no surprise cost increases for the work (unless I requested additional lighting fixtures), and he delivered on that promise, which I think is laudable. I would have no hesitation about calling them for any future electrical work.
Description of Work: I had to have an entire house rewired; it's nearly 90 years old and the electrical system been patched together over all of those years, though it appeared to have had a major upgrade in 1996. However, all of this work was done by owner/occupants with varying levels of quality, and there were remnants of old "tube and knob" wiring, which was the primary reason the larger insurance companies simply would not insure it, which is what prompted me to have all of the wiring removed and replaced by people who knew what they were doing. This was not an enviable job, as there were several additions to the house posing some barriers, and some of the walls had virtually no space for proper wiring, which must have been very difficult. Additionally, virtually all exterior wiring used wire unsuited for outdoor use, and the power lines to the garage were hung too low to meet the codes. For the garage, Armor installed proper wiring through an underground conduit. They also installed utility outlets in the garage, the attic and on two exterior locations. All in all, every power line in the house was replaced, and every outlet was replaced with three pronged outlets that correctly connected to ground. Additionally, all "wet" locations (the kitchen, bathroom and garage) were fitted with GFCI outlets, smoke detectors with linked alarms were installed in the bedrooms, and 240V outlets were installed in the laundry room and garage. Mehdi provided a great deal of information while we were going through the house, noting the problem areas and noting cases where problems had multiple solutions. I'd had a very thorough inspection performed, and Mr. Heidarian rather quickly zeroed in on them. Mehdi was also diligent in both getting the permit, scheduling things with the electric company and ensuring that the city inspector inspected the place. There were two things the inspector wanted to change -- adding an additional outlet in the bar/counter area, and replacing the attic light fixture with a unit with a slightly different unit. Mehdi had those two things quickly fixed and the inspector subsequently signed off on it. He also gave an incredibly detailed estimate, which gave me feel more confident in his ability to get all of the work done.

. I was having electrical problem with the connection between the house and the garage door. I have a separate garage. I found Armor Electric on Angies List. I was very happy with them. The owner cum supervisor of this company came out and he was extremely professional, extremely communicative, extremely open to any kinds of questions, was willing to basically work over his worker?s shoulder. I made some last minute changes with no complaints, no extra charges. According to his understanding he exceeded his code. He had to dig a drench to put in a electrical pipe running from an electrical box to the garage. This was also in connection with the garage door problem. The owner was more English than Spanish but his helper was more Spanish than English so the owner was constantly translating to me in English what he was he telling his boy in Spanish so I felt more at ease and I know enough of Spanish to know that his translation was accurate.. The owner was literate in both languages. I would use this company in the future.

We've used Armor before, to re-do our entire electrical box, run a bunch of new lines, and install outdoor lighting. This time, though, the job was much smaller. The price included all labor and parts, except the light bulbs, which we had. They spent about 4 hours working. I don't know if the price is right on, low, or high, so that's by a "B" on that. Medhi and his helper are always very professional, and respectful about not making a mess (and they clean up if they do make a mess). We'll call them again the next time we need electrical, and I would recommend him to friends.
Description of Work: Medhi and his assistant came to install new lighting in our hallway -- three new canisters, lines for that, and removal of the one old fixture we had. They also replaced the bulbs in some of our outdoor lights, and fixed a faulty sensor. They also inspected the line supporting our air conditioner, but didn't need to do anything.

I found Armor Electric on Angie's List after meeting with three other electricians who did not seem to be the right fit. Mehdi was extremely helpful in our initial conversation, and had many technical suggestions for our goal of getting lights on our vaulted ceiling, which has tongue-and-groove with minimal space behind making recessed lighting difficult. Mehdi was always very punctual, returning calls promptly and always showing up on time. Mehdi ended up putting at least twice as much time into our project than he probably expected. Though he had not worked with our particular lighting product before, he went out of his way to spend time to understand it. Despite the proper connections, one circuit would not light initially due to an unknown issue. When this occurred, Mehdi meticulously disassembled and reconstructed the lights, which include many intricate parts. He spent hours on the phone with the lighting company's tech support to try to resolve the problem, and went so far as to confer with another electrician shortly thereafter just to make sure he had it all correct (he paid the other electrician out of his pocket). After another connection and disconnection to the transformers, the errant circuit run suddenly started working. He had every right to be frustrated, since the setup was the exact same as he originally had it, but didn't show it. Furthermore, though the delay was not his fault, not once did he mention the bill or any additional costs as a result of the amount of time he spent on our project. Mehdi is extremely meticulous and thorough, his prices are fair, and he's a nice guy to boot. We'll definitely be working with him again on future proejcts.

I had an estimate from Powell's Electric when I decided to check Angie's List and saw the reviews for Armor so called them and they were responsive and came that day to do the work for less than half of the price of Powell's. They were prompt, informative and did a meticulous job in about a third of the time of my previous estimate. I was very pleased and will definitely use them again.

Mehdi, was prompt, polite, friendly, and knowledgeable. I appreciated him explaining to me what he was checking and how things worked.
Description of Work: Mehdi, the electrician who came over, checked the electrical supply to my heater and thermostat. Everything was working correctly, so he did not have to do any additional work. He also checked the circuit breaker box and it was working properly. I asked him if he thought I needed to replace the breaker box, as it is 30 plus years old. He said it wasn't an immediate need, but said I should probably consider it - I have been anyways. He gave an estimate for a new box that is good for 30-days.

Excellent job all around. It was important to me to get this job done right and fast because we had just moved in and we needed our TV and lighting fixtures. Mehdi showed up that same day. He was prompt, courteous and explained what needed to be done. I wasn't planning to change the location of the wall dimmers first but after speaking with him, and understanding how energy saving bulbs work differently than of incandescent ones, I decided to get that job done as well. Mehdi did a lot of the job himself, and paid attention to every detail of the work to get it done to the perfection level, and everything turned out beautiful. He was always prompt returning my phone calls and answering my questions and was professional from start to finish. His rates were very reasonable. Highly recommend and will do business with again with pleasure.
