These guys are awesome! If I ever see them in a restaurant I will buy them a drink to thank them for their hard work. I have never had a crew come into my house and work as hard as these guys to satisfy everyone involved. That includes my wife and I, our home-owners association, and the needs of the city permit codes. Here is how it all went down: I interviewed 4 different companies to give me estimates. Brad Gentile from A-1 Heating & Cooling had the most professional demeanor from all of the interviews. [One company quoted me a price of $30,000 to do the work... WOW!] The workers were always on time, always professional, careful about our belongings, fast working, and safe. There were many chances to cut corners to make the job go faster with less quality, but they went the extra mile to do the job right and never complained about it.... and believe me when I say there was much to complain about. I am not saying everything was flawlessly perfect, but it is done extremely well. For example, we live in a condo that is set up like town homes with the only shared wall in the garage. It would have been easy to run refrigerant and electrical lines through the garage, but they went between the upstairs floor and downstairs ceiling to hide these pipes and wires to satisfy our homeowners association. That was the most technical part of this job, and when the city inspected their work they made them route the wires again. The city seemed to be more of an annoyance than a help. I explain what I mean below. Before they started the work, they asked me if I would like to have all the work done to code with permits from the city, and I said yes. Now I know why they asked, because the city is a major pain to work with. An electrical city inspector came to inspect their work after they were done, and they made these poor workers do a lot of changes that really made no sense to me or professional electricians. For example. They made the workers re-route the wires to the condenser and install an outdoor 3 prong plug outlet near the condenser... no one can figure out why. They came by 3 separate times to inspect the work, saying different things every single time. Much of it has been deemed unnecessary from what professional electricians have told me. None the less, these guys did the work and made the changes. These guys did everything I asked them to do and never complained. For example, the guy who was certified to install the gas line routed the gas pipe in a way that blocked storage access to my garage rafters, and I asked them to route it next to the corner of the ceiling. The workers agreed with me, and immediately re-routed it to my satisfaction. The job overall took about a week longer than it should have, but the only reason is because the city inspectors were making them do some very strange additions and changes. The foreman on the job was upset with the inspections, but always professional and kind. He admitted to me that he learned some new stuff by doing this job. After the work had passed inspection, Brad told me they lost a little money on this job because his workers were tied up dealing with the picky city inspectors. If you asked me to describe the first inspector in one word, I would say "confused." For the 3rd and last inspector, I would say, "smart." My overall experience with these guys is definitely positive. The price for the work is unbeatable. Their patience with the city inspectors matches that of parents with a toddler at the age of terrible 2. The air conditioning blows nice and cold on hot days, and the gas furnace saves us money in the winter. As you may already know, the experience of having workers rip through you home is never really a positive experience... some are simply more tolerable than others. However, I can definitely say the final result is always positive if the work is done right. I whole heartedly recommend these guys to do work in your home.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. I wanted them to service it and on that day it was cold outside so the air conditioner could not be fully tested because we couldn't run it when it was cold outside because it would damage the parts. I was very, very happy with his on time performance. He was on time and very kind but I was a little bit disappointed that the scheduling was allowed to take place when it was cold. He said he could come back but it wasn't clear to me if that would be included in this visit's price. It sounded like it would be another visit. The major test that I needed done could not happen while it was cold outside which was what I made the appointment for. I personally didn't know that we couldn't run the air conditioner when it was cold outside. He was really, really nice. It sounded like it was a miscommunication. When I made the appointment for the air conditioner to be checked, they should have told me that it couldn't be done until it was warm outside. Without the miscommunication, everything would have been perfect.

Went great. I would use this company again.

Friendly and offered choices for furnace replacement. Committed to work on certain date and followed through. Person came the day before project to make certain they would have all pieces of equipment needed and reviewed plan with us. Punctual on morning of work day. Professional crew. Worked neatly cleaning the ducts. Cleaned up everything when finished. Completed project quickly. Definitely would hire them again.

They were the biggest mistake of my life. They did horrible shabby work. It was absolute disaster. They did it incorrectly and I had to have an inspector come out and call them back to re-duct it and re-vent it and everything. It was a disaster of a job. They were horrible. Their inspector was outstanding but the service people did not know what they were doing. They didn't know what the instructions were. They were drilling holes in the wrong places for venting. I, the customer had to point out to them what to do properly. I called the president of the company, they told me the president was a 23-year-old kid so they are doing it just for tax purposes. The kid comes to the house and says sorry, there is nothing we can do about it. They wouldn't even fix their mistakes. I learned a lesson, we never should have used them. Their responsiveness is terrible. I had to call and call. Then they argued with me and I had to wait until the inspector came out and redirected them. It was the worst contractors I have ever dealt with in my life.

Called A1 and they were able to schedule me in right away. Jesse came out on time and was very helpful. Inspected the entire heating/ac system and answered all of my questions. Overall a very positive experience and would go back to them again.

Tech tried very hard to find the trouble with the pilot light and the burner but ultimately did not. I did, however, once he left.

Overall, the call was immediately responded to, the service was excellent and I believe I got just what I needed, which was a new thermostat.

They were actually very good. The gentleman’s name was Justin. I have used somebody from Angie’s List before and even though the service was great, they were very difficult to hold off. As far as A-1, it was great. You can get hold of somebody right upfront and schedule it. They were on time; actually they were ahead of time. I had to meet them here for the second trip for the repair, and they were here four minutes before the scheduled time. We showed up at the same time actually. It was a very good experience. I checked the price of the part, and everything was good.

The workers arrived on time and finished the job in the time promised. The installation was done in professional manner. They explained all of the units features as well as installing and explaining how to program the new thermostat.I would recommend A1 Heating and Cooling to my friends.

The repair person, came and I showed him the location of repairs. He reviewed and indicated that work could be done and proceeded with repair/replacement.

Prompt response arrived and performed job efficiently, promptly and cleanly.

My HV/AC system is just under 2 years old and I wanted to make sure it was up to specification before the builder warranty ran out. When I saw the Amazon deal I checked on Angie's list and found the company had very good marks so I purchased the deal. I then got some quotes over the phone for the dryer vent cleaning and found that the $175.00 was competative so I bookded the job with Morgan Hill Heating and Cooling. I found out that Morgan Hill Heating and Cooling is a small shop in my town but is operated out of San Jose, CA. by A-1 Heating and Cooling. Their staff was professional, courteous, efficient and thoughtful.
