A-1 Heating and Cooling

Rudy did a fantastic job! He was on time and did everything efficiently without adding any stress. He also answered all of my furnace questions with expertise and empathy. I will definitely have A-1 come back any time I have issues with my furnace.

I had contacted the provider through Angie's list. They immediately got back to me to schedule a time to come out and give me a bid. They gave me a time of 11-12 on the 30th. At 11:55, they called me and let me know they were just getting ready to leave their previous appointment. No appology. No call before to let me know they were running late.

They did a complete inspection of the furnace, cleaned the filters, and checked all parts. Then they replaced my old thermostat.

The technician was informative and helpful and took care of the work in a timely and professional manner.

We had an excellent experience, will recommend anyone to use A1 Heating. Brad Gentile, came over gave us the quote, which was the best out of 8quotes we received for a similar system. We got the quote the next day, and we called him regarding a couple of questions, all was answered very promptly, and the work was scheduled the following week. Initially they said 2 days to finish the job, but the people who came were so professional and very clean, completed the job in 1 day. The city permit came over after a week and they even mentioned they had done an excellent work

They did a pretty good job. They actually did the air duct cleaning for free. I didn’t pay anymore than the big deal. They were good. They checked everything very fast.

The installation went well. The A-1 team showed up on time in the morning. They were able to complete everything in a day instead of day and a half as they had originally planned. They tested the system and immediately addressed couple of issues. They were going to repair a section of old duct but instead replaced it, by mistake, with a new duct. When they informed the owner, he just said that it was their oversight and did not charge any cost difference. I was quite impressed with their customer centric attitude. In all, the owner and the staff were extremely friendly and knew their stuff. I will definitely engage them for other work.

When I first purchased the Big Deal, I was out of the country and left specific instructions via Angie's List for them to contact my wife to inspect a potential carbon monoxide leak from the furnace in the attic. They did not, but sent an email to me a full week afterward. When asked why they didn't call my wife, they said they don't read emails sent via Angie's List. I scheduled an appt with them saying specifically that the access opening to the attic to see the furnace is tight, and to send a slim technician out to do the inspection. Instead they sent out a big burly guy, who of course could not access the furnace. Apparently the scheduler did not take my warning seriously and I had to take time away from work for nothing. Not only that, the technician had an animated conversation with his office staff and used words like "stupid" and so forth, clearly because he was upset they sent him out even though they were forewarned to send a slim guy. He seemed knowledgeable and answered my questions and was otherwise helpful and said that the office manager will contact me to make another appt to send slimmer technician out, named Steven. Well, I didn't get a call back until 1.5 weeks later! When Steven did show up, he called ahead to say he was stuck in traffic and will be a bit late. He was very pleasant and professional and was able to access the attic. He spent 45 minutes in the attic and could not find the leak. He ran the furnace and tested it every other which way and finally concluded after a discussion with me that there was no leakage. Well...I guess that's good news. I found this company slow to respond, kind of not well coordinated, and one that I would not call back for more work. I did like interacting with Steven though...good guy.

It turned out very good. The price was reasonable, the guy came in, and he explained a few things to me, and he was a very kind person. One of things he mentioned to me was that he was out of SanJose, and if I called him for other plumbing service, I would have to pay for transport. So, if somebody had a lot of work to be done, then somebody from San Jose may not be the best for them. But he was fine, he called to tell me that if I wanted to do more, then I would be better off getting a local person. That was good, he was honest with me.

There were several back and forth's on this one, through it all Brad Gentile was very professional to work with, and customer service was very good. They subcontracted out the removal to another qualified company. The new furnace was well installed in a new location, and new ducting was complicated but well done. I would recommend Brad.

I was looking for someone to clean out the vents. They sent a service guy who wasn’t capable of cleaning the vents. It seems as though we have a leak with the gas line and they did a temporary fix for that. I need to look into getting another piece for it. I wish they would have had the piece to finish the job. There were additional fees for fixing the gas line. It was very easy to schedule the Big Deal. They came out a week after Big Deal was purchased.

Would have been better if the company had a) responded to my messages on Angie's list, b) once I called them, asked me about my system, so we could have save a visit by their tech. Other than that, people were reasonably friendly and helpful.

Arrived just past the scheduled service window but service was professional and thorough. Price was higher because of the type of filter required.|Would recommend and will probably contact next year for similar service.

They replaced a cracked igniter in our Carrier furnace. During a very cold snap (for northern California), our furnace suddenly stopped working. A-1 was the only place that would come the next day. He diagnosed the problem quickly, had the working part in his truck and replaced it in under an hour. The repairman explained what happened, gave us the cracked igniter, and pointed out some warning signs on our air conditioner, but without pressuring us to book a date to repair it. He was professional, efficient and knowledgeable. We are planning to use them again for our future heating and air conditioning service.

It has been good. They were very professional.

The repairman accommodated my work schedule and came to our house at 7:30 a.m. He did not have the part he needed with him, and he returned the following Monday with the part, again at 7:30 a.m.

Went totally satisfactorily. A1 will be my "go to" company for any furnace or AC work.

This is the first time I have used A-1 Heating and Cooling. They diagnosed the problem. The HVAC unit is not manufactured anymore so they had to locate the part. As soon as they got the part, they immediately made arrangements to go out and repair the unit. It works great! They were professional,courteous and kept me informed as to the status every step of the way. I absolutely will use them for all my HVAC needs from now on!

He arrived on time, was very courteous. he had a professional manner & completed the work in a timely manner.

In addition to checking the heater and air conditioner, he replaced the filter near the heater unit and added freon to the air conditioning unit.

EXPECTED MORE OF A STRONGER PROFESSIONAL VACUUM SYSTEM, NOT A PORTABLE VACUUM. THE TECNICIAN, CURTIS, WAS EXCELLENT, PROFESSIONAL, ON TIME, AND DID A FINE JOB. WE WERE OFFERED A SENIOR DISCOUNT WHICH IS GREAT, BUT WOULD NOT USE THIS VENDOR IN FUTURE BECAUSE OF THE EQUIPMENT USED.
