Chris was prompt in his call back. On the morning of the appt, he was a little late but called ahead to let me know. He was courteous, fixed several issues quickly in one visit, and kept me up to date by phone once I went to work. I was very pleased with the price and the service. Great experience!
Description of Work: All lights were broken on the front deck. He replaced a photo cell, replaced an outlet, added a switch for another light which we could not turn off. He installed the switch in the interior and completed dry wall patch.

Received 3 quotes to complete electrical wiring for a new heat pump system. Chris' quote was the least expensive. Yet he and his team provided excellent service. While Chris did have to call and re-schedule the work due to illness on his crew, he was very apologetic and worked to accommodate my schedule. I would definitely use Chris and team in the future.

We just moved into a 1920's craftsman in Mission Hills that had no grounded outlets. We had WCE come out and give an estimate for providing new circuits to a number of locations so that we could plug in appliances etc. From the estimate through the entire process, we found Chris and his team to be very professional. Chris (the owner) came out to give an estimate while we were in escrow. We had a limited window to meet with various contractors because our realtor had to be present. As such, it was important for each contractor to be on time in order to fit within our window. Chris arrived early for the appointment and quickly understood our needs. He provided a written estimate that day. Once we closed on the house, we selected WCE to perform the requested services and scheduled them. Chris and his team showed up on time and we went over the various items we needed done. Since we had purchased the home, the scope had slightly increased and we were adding a few items on (running cable, adding closet lights, a few additional outlets) The team had a short meeting outside and then got to work. I was impressed with the organization and work ethic. Also, I was impressed with the care taken with our baseboards/mouldings and other elements of the house when they were installing new outlets. Due to the added scope, Chris wasn't able to finish the first day, so they had to come back a second day. I found their work to be of high quality and found Chris and the other electricians to be trustworthy and professional. We will be contacting them again if we need any electrical work done.
Description of Work: WCE installed 5 new circuits in our house to provide power to the fridge, washer and dryer, and new outlets to bedrooms, living room, kitchen and the workshop area. WCE installed pull chain lights in our closets as well. They also provided GFCI protection and replaced 2 prong outlets in the garage with 3 prong outlets. Lastly, we had them run Coax and Cat5 cable to three different locations in the house (living room and two bedrooms).

I am a local real estate broker and often find the need to contact an electrician, plumber, roofer, foundation contractor, etc. for the benefit of my buyers and sellers. Honesty, professionalism and reliability are the most important attributes I look for when I refer contractors. I use Angie's List on occasion to either validate referrals I receive or sometimes to find another good quality contractor whom I can rely upon. This is what lead me to Chris and I am looking forward to continuing to refer his services.
Description of Work: Chris took over his dad's operation years ago and runs a mom and pop company. Chris personally did the work for my client's property but I suspect he only has a few top quality electricians working for him to keep the quality control high. He was there exactly when he said he would be and performed the needed repairs in under 45 minutes. He was prepared and knew exactly how to troubleshoot the issues - professional and in and out with no hassle. I highly recommend Chris and West Coast Electric.

Our AC went out on the hottest day of the year - of course! After SDG&E diagnosed the issue as electrical, we called our neighbors for an electrician recommendation, and got Chris' (West Coast Electric) name and number. We left him a voicemal Friday night around 9:00 (told him he didn't need to get back to us that night) and he returned our call by 8:30 the next morning. He was out to the house within the hour! He quickly diagnosed the issue as a bad breaker to the AC unit and replaced it immediately. Chris is prompt, professional, super nice, and he really knows his business inside and out. We are very happy to be cool again, and even happier to have found an electrician we trust! We've already booked him to come back and install a ceiling fan!

I was selling my own 1 bedroom condo. As per inspection report, 2 outlets needed to be replaced with GFI outlets. I also added a ceiling fan. A friend recommended West Coast Electric Solutions. Christopher returned my call promptly. I emailed the inspection report to him and his quote was $225.00 (not including the fan). He came a couple of days later to complete the job. He installed the fan, replaced two GFI outlets, checked all 7 outlets and noticed a broken outlet, (which the inspector missed). He replaced it without extra charge. Christopher also noticed that the breaker box was old fashion and recommended to replace the breakers. As a local Realtor since 1983, I highly recommend West Coast Electric Solution’s services. He was cost efficient, neat, thorough and friendly. A job well done :-).

Each occasion I've hired West Coast Electric has turned out as expected. Only thing to know is to plan ahead and schedule them early. You may not be able to get them out immediately, but they won't flake on you. They are my 'go to' electrician. You really can't go wrong with them for your residential electrical needs. They also do commercial work, I believe.
Description of Work: I've used West Coast Electric on numerous occasions in the past and they are consistently top notch. I've used them on a major kitchen remodel, new ceiling lights in the garage, minor troubleshooting, cabling and power for A/V, fixture installs, dedicated hot tub circuit, new outlet installs, etc. They are reliable, do quality work, are reasonably priced and very professional. .The dollar amount listed is an estimate that spans several years and many different jobs.

Chris was very responsive to my initial inquiry via email. It took bit of back and forth to get a good time for the estimate, but Chris came as promised and was very thorough in evaluating the project. He gave me a quote via email that was several hundred dollars less than an estimate I had already received. I accepted the offer and we set a date for the work to be performed. Chris and his assistant arrived on time and completed the work in a few hours of concentrated work. My wife was home and found them to be very courteous to her and our two small dogs. The work was nicely done for the quoted price. We have used the patio heaters several times now and all is working well. We will definitely use Chris again if we have the opportunity.

Chris returned my initial call very quickly. He interviewed me to get a good understanding of my issue. He recommended that pictures be e-mailed to him so that he could make sure he had the right parts with him to complete the job the first time. Chris would be working with my tenant so he gave me a choice of two appointments to accommodate my tenant. Chris tried to contact my tenant to make an initial touch and when that didn't work, Chris came back to me for assistance. We finally had an appointment set and we left it with Chris promising to call my tenant with notice of his arrival. Unfortunately when Chris arrived my tenant did not answer his phone to give Chris access to the building. Through the persistance of his assistant, Chris was finally able to gain access to the building and meet with my tenant. My tenant reported that Chris and his assistant were professional and able to complete all the work so that the new stove got installed and everything completed the first time. Chris was outstanding in keeping me informed every step of the way. I am so impressed with Chris that I plan to use him as my exclusive electrician for all of my rental units and my personal residence.

It was an excellent job and we are very pleased. Chris suggested a better way to wire the lamps and as a result, the cost was lower and there were no holes to patch or painting. They left the job site very clean. We had scheduled the job a couple of weeks ago and Chris showed up just as promised.

Chris was polite and had a cheerful disposition while he squeezed us into his schedule 3 times to fix what was supposed to have been a quick, easy job. When he first came to install the new heater it made a noise when the fan reached a high speed-- Chris spend time and effort to correct the defective fan blades. Then we tested it and it appeared to finally work perfectly. But on trying it again a few days later the fan tripped a breaker, so Chris made another visit and we learned that the unit was defective. After I returned the defective heater and received a replacement Chris came for a third time with his apprentice and installed it within a few minutes. He had originally charged his base service rate of $150 for appeared to quick job; at his third visit I offered him an additional, meager $50 for all the additional time and travel but he would not accept it. As a property manager I work many repairmen and very few of them put the client first and take such pride in their work. I will not have to search Angieslist again to find another electrician!

Absolutely great service. Westcoast Electric was recommended by the store where we bought our fixtures and fan. It was obvious why. It started with setting up the time. Chris Bailey, the owner, was quite good at asking enough questions to know about how much time he needed to allot for your job. He as also good about giving estimates as to how long his other jobs might take. Eventually we ended up with a Saturday. He called before he came. He was punctual. He also arrived with a special ladder because of the height of one of your ceilings. He hung two light fixtures quickly. The longest time was spent making sure that we were happy with the height. Encouraging us to consider having the fixtures at different heights was quite considerate and greatly appreciated. (Climbing up and down the ladder holding the fixtures wasn't easy). Installing the fan in the master bedroom was likewise painiess. The installation was tricky because the ceiling was right up against the the roof. Our neighbor with the same model house we have said it took her electrician hours and much aggravation. No big deal for Chris. He knocked it out in 45 minutes, even with having to tap into the line for the smoke alarm, and some of that time was because the fan had some hardware which was backwards from what you normally see so he had to puil it out, add a little piece, and put it back in. Sweet, including the programming for the fan remote. The switches took no time. His price was terrific. All in all this was a wonderful experience and allows me to highly recommend Westcoast Electric.

As we remodeled an apartment, four new exterior lights were installed to replace old ones. One upstairs light , just outside a bedroom window, was on the same column that a ground-level night light is on. When the tenant kept complaining that he could not get that upstairs light to go off, he figured out that it had to be connected to one on a timer. That was the key. The one below is a Security dusk to dawn fixture. Apparently, the first electrician during the remodel accidentally connected the upstairs light to the one below. Chris came out and connected them correctly. I had called the first electrician, but he has since dropped his company's name off Angie's List and not responding to my phone calls. Finding Chris from West Coast has been a life-saver. Not only did he and Julian correct the problem within minutes, but quite possibly saved a tenant from getting mad and moving out! Thank you, Chris, you are now my RESIDENT ELECTRICIAN.

I was really happy with his prices and the fact that he showed up when he said he would. He always cleaned up after himself and was kind and courteous even after a long, hot day in my attic.
Description of Work: I recently purchased an older home in La Mesa. Chris from West Coast Electric Solutions eliminated old knob and tube wiring which was a potential fire hazard. He also installed can lights in my kitchen, upgraded my service to 200AMP, added a circuit for my air conditioner, installed several ceiling fans, exhaust fans and removed an old circuit box. I found out he also installs PV Solar Systems which I plan on having him do in the future.

We have contracted West Coast Electrical Solutions several times over the past four years (from full remodel to several smaller jobs) and have been very happy with the quality of work, the price, and the level of professionalism they exhibit. They are very knowledgable and friendly, and Chris (the owner) will take the time to make sure you understand the full scope of work and time required. You are never left with the impression that he is recommending unnecessary work or expense, and these guys certainly do not drag their feet! We have also found West Coast Electric to be very reliable, with no over-runs on cost or time. Finding West Coast Electrical Solutions has been a blessing, and they will always have our business going-forward. We have referred them to several friends and family, all of which were grateful for the referral.

This is going to become my standard intro: having moved to S.D. less than 18 months ago, I was very lacking in knowledge about local contractors. The referrals I did get were from relatives who have lived here for 5 - 10 years. Almost all of these (West Coast Electric being a great example) have been excellent referrals, but in that sense they were pre-vetted, and not discoveries of my own. This was actually my third service experience with them. I say "them", but the company is really Chris Bailey and one or two assistants. My first WCE service visit actually was a "them", when Chris worked with his late father-in-law, a fine gentleman that I'm sure is greatly missed. I had not finished moving in at that point. They carefully "mapped" every single outlet in the place, because I had a couple appliances that I knew required significantly more current draw than most, and I was concerned as to where I could or should not plug those in. This proved to be a very good and useful exercise: it happened that just about every hand-notated entry on the main breaker panel was incorrectly labeled (presumably by a previous owner) as to what the switch controlled ! Chris and Paul set that right, and left me with a detailed map for future reference. On this most recent occasion, multiple fluorescent fixtures were shot (the ballasts, not the tubes), and I'd already had one of them replaced by a handyman, using something off-the-shelf from Home Depot, but it proved to be CRAP and inadequate. Time to have it done right. I knew who I had to call. So, Chris has become my local "Go To" guy for anything electrical. Super service. In fact, he is one of those select few I almost hesitate to tell you about, since I think he's already booked up two to three weeks out, and I'm afraid he might become so busy that this figure might double, and then I'd really have to wait for an appointment when I needed him. Chris had a brief dalliance with a solar panel installation outfit, during which I seriously considered having such a job done -- in large part due to his involvement. However, he made the decision to concentrate on his core business. Now, I think his major challenge might be growing his business -- if the volume of work is really there, in this still-troubled economy -- but it seems that good electricians don't exactly grow on trees. If only cloning was an option ! I would be delighted if every contractor I worked with was more like Chris.

They were great. The guy's name was Chris and he was just fantastic. He was punctual, professional and clean. He came in and I was comfortable that he knew what he was doing. It ended up not being a straight floor installation and he knew how to work around the problem. He cleaned up everything when he was done and even vacuumed all the cracks and crevices to make sure he got all the dust up. I was really pleased overall, it was a really positive workman experience. Someone had recommended them to me, I didn't even price compare. What I paid did not strike me as unreasonable for the time that he was here and the work he did.

I just like this guy, he really knows what he is doing, it is his own business and he takes pride in doing a great job. The job runs smooth, he is in and out..fast.
Description of Work: I have used this company before and that is why I did not hesitate to use them again, Steve installed a huge ceiling fan in an upstairs room, was in and out in about an hour and did a fantastic job. The previous work he did for me was to upgrade my circuit breaker, and to make my garden lights safe. The reason I will use this guy for all my electrical requirements, is that he went way far and above what he really needed to do and I really appreciated that.
