Up front summary - I found Carini Heating and Air Conditioning to be very courteous, very professional and very expensive! I used a $69 Angie's List deal to have Carini visit my home for an Air Conditioning Tune-Up. I recommend this service as San Diego begins to reach high temperatures and increased running of AC. Carini Service Technician Anthony D. arrived on time for the scheduled appointment. Anthony immediately impressed me with his courtesy, professional knowledge and desire to educate me (the customer) on AC system operation. Anthony had a complete set of AC diagnostic tools. He quickly identified the AC system was not cooling properly due to insufficient levels of R-22 freon. This didn't surprise me as it had been a few years since freon had been added. What did surprise me was Carini's high prices quoted to fill the refrigerant: $215 for the first pound and $89 for each subsequent pound. Also surprising is that Carini only charges in full pounds. Therefore if you require 1.2 pounds you are charged for two pounds... I really do not understand this pricing policy. I approved the service as I didn't want to make another service call. Anthony added the refrigerant and now our AC unit cools much more efficiently. Kudos to Anthony D. for very professional service but some negative marks to Carini for a prohibitively expensive pricing policy.

They were ready to come out whenever I wanted them to. I would absolutely use them in the future. The technician came out and he was excellent. He went out of his way to explain the system to me. He explained why things work and what's going on when I'm seeing this and that. He was excellent. I would ask for that guy specifically next time.

We use Carini Heating and Air because of their dedication to quality, service and educating the customer. Anthony did a fine job .He arrived on time , was skilled, knowledgeable ,and personable. You can tell he truly cares about his work. I appreciated the way he explained the work he was doing in terms that I could understand. He added refrigerant to the AC. He diagnosed and fixed a problem that was in wiring in the interface between the heating unit and ac unit. (That wiring had been improperly installed by a different AC company - not Carini.) We feel lucky to have found a trustworthy company for our heating and ac needs.

Gabriel, the owner, promptly provided an estimate that was much higher than three others I secured. The higher cost was related to moving the furnace to the attic because the larger furnace plenum would interfere with a roof truss. Since others did not recommend moving to the attic, Gabriel offered to come back and reevaluate his proposal. By offsetting the furnace in the closet, he agreed it would fit. The new proposal was comparable to others, and included larger coolant lines. I chose him because he knew his business and explained things very well. I was convinced he would do a good job. The work was done on time and to perfection. The workers (all speaking good English) were knowledgeable, polite, friendly, hard working and they cleaned up every day. The system works great. The insulation keeps the house moderate, so the system does not work nearly as often. An asbestos abatement company had to come in ahead to remove existing asbestos. They charged $800 to remove two pieces (a flu casing and a small wall piece next to the flu). Two workers spent 1.5 hrs to do the job. I felt their price was too steep. Gabriel was able to get them to reduce their price by $200. At my request, Gabriel gave me a week after completion for payment so that I could post the payment after the credit card closing billing cycle, allowing me an extra month to gather the funds. That was nice of him, since the contract was for full payment upon completion. All in all a good experience.

I obtained several quotes for replacing or repairing an old furnace and a/c condenser unit. Each provider had a slightly different opinion on how much of the system should be replaced and what capacity unit should be used. Carini's prices were in line with other providers, but Kurt, who gave the estimate, seems the most knowledgable. He did appropriate follow up after the install. Would use them again.

I had two experiences with Carini. Kurt was the initial contact who came out and gave me a quote on several options to add on an A/C system to my existing furnace system. Then Anthony came out to do a furnace tune-up (using an Angie's List coupon). Then Tim and his crew came out to do the A/C install. All the experiences were professional and very well done. None of them tried to upsell me on useless things. They all gave good advice and explained things clearly. The A/C install uncovered a few surprises, naturally, like any older home. But they took care of it even if they had to spend extra time and perform extra services. They really went the extra mile without incurring new charges or inconvenience to the customer. I am very satisfied with their work quality, price, and customer service. Will definitely recommend to my friends and neighbors.

The tech was professional and arrived on time. The general routine cleaning went fine. However, the troubleshooting did not resolve the issue. He did notice the unit leaning a bit and straightened it out, but a couple of months later during another hot spell the unit was leaking again. I called them and they sent the field manager who cut and replaced a very crooked condensate line and it appeared all was resolved. Fast forward 10 months of rare usage: after 3 days in a hot spell - the leak reappeared. I shut off the a/c and waited for a good 5 months before calling a different plumber who blasted out the main condensate and the secondary line, and tested it by running a gallon of water through the line. I don't believe the line was sufficiently cleared if at all, the first two visits with Carini. This seems like a pretty routine issue with condensate lines so I'm disappointed that it would have been either overlooked or insufficiently cleared out.

My 1950's furnace gave out a few days after Christmas and a friend referred me to Carini. They came to give me a quote within a few days and, due to another job canceling, they were able to start on the work the very next day. I think it took two or three days to get me back up and running with heat. While they were at it, I had them add A/C to my old house so now I'm ready to stay comfortable in summer months too!

Anthony called ahead to let me know he was on his way. Very professional and polite while here. Took the time to explain in detail what he was checking for and why. Will definitely call and request Anthony for the Spring maintenance on the air conditioner.

I had some objection on charges on the day of service. I have to pay extra to get my problem fixed. The technician called his manager for help. There was no resolution. I have to pay extra to get my original problem fixed. After my not so positive review at Angie's List, I got a call from one of the owners. He explained me about the confusion and sorted out the issue. I think, getting the call proved that they do care, Since, I had a good service. I am happy about Carini and power of Angie's List.

It went very well. It is very difficult to install AC in my unit due to HOA rules and restrictions and this estimate required a lot of investigation and research all of which they went over with me. Based on that, he offered me a couple of different options and sent me an estimate which was exactly what I wanted.

Anthony was very professional. He called to let me know when he was coming, arrived on time, and performed the service exactly as I had requested (no hidden charges). He was polite, friendly and knowledgable and answered all of my questions. I would definitely use Carini Heating and Air Conditioning again.

Anthony came to check furnace and fixed the noise problem in one of the room too.

It went very well. The service technician was very professional. We would be happy to have him return the next time we service our system. We are very satisfied customers!

Anthony was prompt, professional, knowledgeable, and explained the problem thoroughly. I have small child and Anthony was very thoughtful and quiet during his nap time. I would highly recommend this company to anyone needing service on their system.

Overall a great experience. I purchased an Angie List deal and wasn't disappointed. Carini Heating and AC called within the stated time and scheduled a Service time that worked for me. The day before the Service, I received a call confirming my appointment and the time the Service would take place. All good and handled very professionally. I was then contacted by Anthony D the next day who arrived at the stated time. Anthony was very professional, informative and a very nice person. He explained that he couldn't do an AC service (which is something that I requested) since it was to cold and he also checked to make sure my Heating system did not require a factory recall. This piece of information saved me a significant amount of money and potentially a great deal of frustration. I couldn't be happier with the service and plan to perform annual maintenance with this company. I would highly recommend using them for all HVAC needs.

Anthony arrived on time and went straight to work. He worked steadily and when completed explained that the heater is in good shape with nothing wrong. He did not have the intake filter with him so he offered to come back and install it, this was not part of the original deal. He showed up this morning and installed the filter, cleaned the vent and cover. Excellent customer service.

Anthony showed up on time, with a 15 minute advance call as promised. He quickly diagnosed and resolved the problem, then took the time to explain some of the "secrets" of the unit I had, and made suggestions for simple but effective touch-ups.

They did a good job. They said I did not need any freon and they were very professional and courteous. I would use them again.

The technician for Carini was very polite and professional. He performed the services and explained the issues we were having with the clogged drains. He also inspected the units outside and recommended seasonal tune ups for the systems.

They did a great job with the inspection, being thorough and reporting only real problems. Our freon was low, so they offered to charge it up on the spot. Even though I had to leave early, they finished up, locked up, and felt I got a great deal.

Will Fredette came to my house to give me an estimate for AC. Will recommended that I install mini-split ac through out the house. It was late in the day and I got the impression that he was in a hurry to go home. He spent only 10 minutes at my house! On his way out he handed me a Fujitsu catalog. He never walked around my house or looked in the attic.

Performed maintenance on 2 units; checked operation of all equipment in Heat & Cool modes. 9/4/15 Added 1 lb R-22 - $98 Added 1 more unit at the Angie's List price: $85 Ordered the 'contacts' and returned on 9/9/15 to install, he was here for one hour. The total cost above ($633) includes the cost of the original Angie's List certificate.
