Best-Rate Repair Company

Don, from Best-Rate-Repair was very honest about our situation. He noted that while a small part of the fascia on our home was just beginning to have dry rot, I didn't need to do anything other than treat the wood and paint it. Repairs would have been for a short term fix and a true replacement was far beyond what was needed at this time.

I bought a Deal coupon for 4 hours dry rot repair. Mike came right away to give me an estimate. He was punctual and professional. He said it would take 2 days. The remaining hours after my coupon he would charge $86./hours materials would be cost plus 15% mark up. I appreciated knowing approximately what I was in for. It took a while to book the work, in fact they had me booked for 2 days without my knowledge. They said they called and talked to a man, my husband said it was not him, and it is only the 2 of us. So there was some confusion there. Finally we got it booked. Tyson actually showed up early on the day of the job, which one never expects. He was very nice, did a great job, cleaned up. He had to replace more than I thought due to more rot he uncovered during the course of his work. He caulked and painted when he was finished and it looks great. He actually painted a bit more than he had to. It was actually a little more than $1000. with the coupon and the additional work. It seems a little pricey to me but I actually did not get any other bids. All in all I am happy and would recommend Best Rate.

Mike was very quick to contact me once I bought the Angie's List deal. I needed things done as quickly as possible and I think he really made a significant effort to accommodate me. The estimate was higher than I was expecting but after seeing the amount of labor and how much skill goes into wood repair etc., I have a much better understanding of the cost and agree 100% with the amount. Louis was really fantastic and did excellent work. He worked quickly but carefully. He brought a saw horse and set up in the front of the house, measuring and cutting boards on the spot so each piece fit perfectly. To build, sand, prime, paint, and install the front gate, it took 3 to 4 hours which was just what the estimate had indicated. For the post, he had to remove the rotten wood and then cut 8 separate small panels, forming a two tiered base. Again, his work was precise and included matching and painting. Louis was also very pleasant and nice to have around. Great work.

The provider came out an gave a quote which greatly increased the cost. Instead of repairing or offering a solution within the scope of the hours purchased the contractor basically try to sell up the work needed. Perhaps he does not do repair work, only replacement, I am not sure. So it was a great waste of my time an money, I certainly felt like I was been "stepped up" into a large job. Perhaps the job really it too big...I know that I can repair the damage area without doing all the work the contractor recommended. This experience made me rethink this process, purchasing a discount on a service without a previous quote made me loose my money.

The service turned out great. I like him. The big deal was for $149, and it covered only 3 or 4 hours of work, so we paid an additional amount. They were here on time, and it was a 2 men team, so they moved along quite quickly. They got the job done, cleaned up, and off they went.

It went very well. They clean up after themselves, and are very pleasant and nice to work with.

I had some family issues arise and then I forgot about the Big Deal purchase so I have reached out to Angie's List in order to get a refund.

I had a few window sills that had some wood rot. They replaced the window frame. The work took a few days so there were extra charges but I felt the price was fair.

The guys were great. They underbid the job, but they did the right thing and repaired under the house properly, much to my satisfaction. Even though they made less. They kept working until the job was done. They were clean, fast and professional. They are honest, fast, and competent workers. They stand by their bids and are an honorable business. Hard to find. Jeff Mudd is the best!

Door 1) Nail holes were countersunk and not filled and sanded to make them even with the rest of the frame. It was to have been primed when they were done and ready to be painted in a major painting our of entire home that occurs in one month. Door 2) The dry rot was removed and the finish on the wood that replaced the rotted wood was rough and not what would be considered ready for paint. The wood was next to a tile/group trim and he left a 1" hole in that area, leaving it open to any water and debris that could occur. Window 3) He removed the bottom frame of the window and the piece of wood that replaced the dry rot wood was of poor quality, and was visibly uneven in the edge, along the entire length of the edge. The worker did not take care to protect the parts of the home that he crossed to reach one of the doors. There was a type of glue or paste on every step that a right foot would have touched, and droppings from sanding,etc. were in the adjacent room. I had to clean the areas where he worked as they had dust, and particles of work debris that went all over his adjacent work area. The worker was on time, friendly, courteous, but not able to do what i consider a "finish" quality job that was ready for painting.

The scheduler was prompt and friendly. The gentleman who quoted the job was also friendly. The price (including Big Deal coupon) was a bit higher than I was willing to pay, so I declined services.

He showed up on time and has been professional so far. He has also been easy to get in touch with.

They were great, very professional; from Lilly, who answered my call and sent me emails to John Brown, the Estimator, who was very nice and patient with my many questions and concerns. When John came to my house, he was very knowledgeable about the work I needed done and gave some great suggestions on how to handle it. He was so helpful he even told me how to fix my broken doorbell! We agreed on a price, which I think was fair, and set up a day the next week to do the work. Willie Coleman did an excellent job on the gate and the painting; it actually looks better than I thought it would, and he was done on schedule. Yeah, I could have hired some unlicensed handyman to do the work for cheaper, but I'm sure I wouldn't have gotten this excellent level of service and workmanship. I will definitely call them again for other work I need done.

I purchased a UT San Diego deal for 4 hours of Labor for $149. We planned to use this to fix our patio cover. The patio cover had a small section that had a pretty severe case of rot from water damage. As soon as I called to make the appointment, Anthony came out within a few days to look at the job, give us a quote for the labor and materials as well as schedule the work. He estimated the work would take 5-6 hours and require about $150 in materials. I was very happy with the estimate and we set a date of 4/7 to do the work. A few days later I realized I needed to move the date and I called the office. Lizzy was very helpful and told me Anthony would call me back to reschedule. He promptly called me and we arranged for the work to be done on Friday 4/18. On 4/18, Karl arrived at 7:45am ready to go. He immediately set up in our yard and started removing the shingles. Anthony had told us we may need to replace the shingles. We were concerned about that because we didn't think new ones would match the existing and would wind up sticking our like a sore thumb. But Karl was very meticulous and was able to remove all the old shingles without damaging a single one. He proceeded to remove all the rotted wood and prep the area. He made a list of the items he needed and left to get them at the Home Depot. He returned about 30 minutes later. He completed the work and was able to re-use all the shingles. Karl did an amazing job. I could not be happier. He was finished in just under 5 hours. I would absolutely use them again if I ever needed this type of work again. Great job!!!

They're great. They did the work pretty soon after we bought the deal. It was a good timing. They absolutely know no nonsense and they did a good job. I appreciate it. I thought their prices were fair too.

Average handyman repair cost & service. Difficult scheduling as my job was very small and I used an Angie's List "Big Discount" coupon (4-hours labor prepaid). Physical work performed was above-average. One-man, 5-hours labor, workmanship excellent. Final cost was average but only after I reviewed and corrected the math {15% of $240 is not $100}. Ultimately my experience with Best-Rate Repair Company was a slightly above-average experience with home repair contractors.

Service and results provided were excellent through use of an Angies Deal. I will probably not use Best Rate again for handyman type work since their quoted rates are competitively high -- Labor $100h/r, Mat'l 15% markup and 3% surcharge on CR card use.

STUCCO: he explained the cause of the problem and that this was more of an aesthetic problem and wouldn't pose a structural nor water problem. He said that the only real solution is to replace the entire sliding patio door and frame-- but since the door itself was working fine he couldn't really recommend that. I mentioned that later this summer we were embarking on a pool re-plaster and patio deck repair and Mike suggested that we have our Sundek crew just mop the coating right up under the sill. Perfect solution! GUTTER: Mike said that his foreman, Rocky (who'd worked on our house in July) was making a number of quick stops at various locations the next day and would have him stop in and re-attach the gutter at no charge! He said Rocky had the right supplies for the job. The next morning Rocky arrived as promised and my husband reported that it took longer for Rocky to haul out and install his long ladder than it did to attach a new screw. So Best-Rate gave us the right advice and did not charge us for the service.

They were thorough in their assessment and treatment. As it turns out, there was much more dry rot than the initial assessment indicated. Thus, the final cost was much more than anticipated. But the service and expertise provided was excellent.

It turned into him quoting me a much larger project that I wasn't interested in.

The work was done well and they were on time and prompt.

Pat, the person who did the repairs did an excellent job. He got here about 7:45 A.M. and was ready to go to work. He looked at hte work to be done and determined what materials he would need. He came back in about an hour and started the job. He ended up installing two metal posts to support two existing 4x4 wooden posts. This involved some deep digging for the concrete. He also installed a 4x4 wood post that was needed to connect the fence. He also replaced one panel of the fence. He did run into a few problems but improvised to get the job done. I was very happy with the results. I will certainly keep this company in mind for any future home improvement projects. I only gave a "B" for responsiveness since the company did not call me to set up my appointment for the work. I ended up calling them after I had not heard from them for a few days, even though I had indicated that I was accepting their proposal. A rather minor point, but I give considerable weight to the promptness with which a company gets back to me.

The guy was friendly and quick with the assessment. They called to remind us about the appointment. He will be sending a paper copy of the estimate soon.

The fence co did a fabulous job but I think it would have been cheaper if I had used the fence co directly. I couldn't because I had already paid the $149 and would loose that. And I thought the original problem was wood root and small poetions could ve repaired.
