Best-Rate Repair Company

The repairs went very well. It was necessary to add repairs once the job was opened. When it became time to pay for the additional work Mike Spencer, the estimator, denied our Angie's discount. Of course, based on their Angie's list advertisement the refusal was not acceptable to us. It became necessary to contact Jeff Mudd, the owner. At this point their Marketing Manager, Terry Harris, got involved and refunded what should have been discounted. Scott and his crew did an excellent job, the rest of the office personnel were great. Unfortunately, Mike Spencer cost them an A rating. Be sure and get everything in writing if you are getting estimates from Mike Spencer.

The work was started on schedule and 2-5 men were on site every day until the work was complete. I was pleased that they chose to replace several beams rather than just patch them. Overall I thought they did a fine job.

Best-Rate was fantastic! This job was complicate by the need to custom fit the wood trim to a new door frame and existing stucco. I could not ask for a better quality of work or for a more responsive company; my experience with Best-Rate was top quality in every way. I will use them again in the near future to complete additional repairs on woodwork around my home - they are terrific!

Great. They were on time, showed up at 7:30a.m. the first and second day. It was nicely swept and cleaned up at the end of the second day.

great experience. they identified some things that needed to be fixed, but also didn't generate a bunch of recommendations on things that were non-issues (which would have been very wasteful for me because I am preparing to sell the house and have to fix what is reported). the repair work went fine too... the guys did a great job.

I'd purchased an Angies List coupon for 2 hours of handyman work, & Don came out to give me the estimate. Two weeks later, a couple of guys came & did the work. They were prompt & professional.

Work was done in an efficient manger; the crew was pleasant and communicated regarding all steps of the work to be done. The price was reasonable. This company is on our go-to list.

They moved up the scheduled date by a week to our advantage. They were very personable and professional. They replaced several termite damaged areas that were previously just covered up by another termite company. This is the second time I have used their services and only complaint was that the price was alittle higher than budgeted and had to delete non essential items. I would hire them again for future services.

This was a nice surprise. I'm female and a homeowner of nearly 40 years. This company did not patonize me in any way. I was given an estimate, time-line and they did it plus a bit more ( reinforcing beams with leftover wood ). Very pleased and would call them again! The crews were extremely courteous and knowledgeable. Nice people!

They are good. They gave me an estimation but we kept changing our minds, and then we settled to just used the voucher. They sent one guy to do the estimation, and then sent over another guy to do the work. They are not very impressive. The best part was that the skill of the handyman was good, and he finished all the small repairs in my house, and he was experienced. The bad part was that after they gave us the estimate they never contacted us anymore, and I had to call them to find out how much the estimate was, and when they were coming. I had to be more proactive to complete the deal. Their estimate was more expensive than other people. We bought 4 hours but the job took only about 2 and half hours and then we let him go. The quality is fine, their job is good. They don't give the answer immediately, they had to call the handyman and call me back, and then they wouldn't call me back, and then they gave me the handyman's number so I had to call him directly. They were not late, and they were professional. I would probably not use them in the future.

I bought the 4-hour handyman package primarily to get the bottoms of my bedroom and closet doors shaved off after having new, thicker carpet installed. When their work-coordinator came out to look at the job, he said that they couldn't shave the doors because they weren't wood, but were made of fiberglass panels on a wood frame and the fiberglass would splinter. I was very disappointed, but since I had already paid for the package, I went ahead and planned to have other work done around the house. When the handyman, Randy, arrived to do the work, I told him about the doors and he said that if I wanted to take the risk of possibly ruining my doors, he thought he could shave enough off to clear the carpet.. Since I was otherwise faced with replacing the doors, I was happy to take the risk and assured Randy I wouldn't hold him or his company responsible for the doors. Randy did a wonderful job, and my doors turned out fine...no more scraping on the carpet! At that point I was a happy camper even though some of the other work I had planned didn't turn out as expected due to poor planning on my part (certainly not Randy's fault). I somehow had the wrong bolts to attach my bedframe and headboard (long story), and I realized after Randy hung one of two curtain rods that I needed longer rods to achieve the look I wanted, so I had him remove it:. All in all I was very pleased with the work done.

Love this company (Thanks Don Scout)! Received an acceptable quote for repair work. Very professional and willing to work with me to prioritize work, etc. Unfortunately, other more pressing maintenance issues arose and I have not yet used this coupon. I appreciate that the original price paid for the coupon is always honored. Now that my home's foundation work is complete, I look forward to repairing the wood issues. As soon as I am ready, I will definitely contact Best Rate!

When the gentlemen came out to give the estimate he did an excellent job of explaining what needed to be done. they did a terriffic job they were very therough and explained everything they were on time and finished the job very well. After they finished they took me on a tour of the job and explained what they did. I was very pleased

I think we got terrific value on our dollar. The balcony and doors are better than the ones they replaced. The guys that worked on it were all hard workers who were unfailingly polite, making a point of making sure we were aware of when they arrived and when we left. This was especially helpful when they were working on the doors. We have a small dog who was banished from the yard while work was going on so the arrivals and departures were important. Best-Rate utilized an efficient mix of workers. Joseph was the guy we saw most frequently. He is clearly a very skilled carpenter. Miguel, also skilled, was here a lot. Their painter, Ernest I think, was quite amazing. When he painted the many window panes on the new doors he had the most steady hand I've ever seen, never needing to tape the windows to get a clean line. There were others, as many as four on some of the days. Everybody seemed to work well together, to actually enjoy each other's company as they worked. It helped make, what is inevitably a noisy project, more pleasant. Everyone was unfailingly polite and interested in making sure we were satisfied. There were some areas that caused us some worry. The most notable was the actual schedule variation from the planned schedule. The planned start was December 7th, to be finished in time for Christmas. The start date slipped several days. Rain hampered progress but the replacement of the balcony moved along well. They had started work on the pergola when we were told that the lead time for the doors completion from Dixieline was unexpectedly six rather than two weeks. When the balcony was done, they asked for a progress payment without any notification. The workers trickled off after that and we didn't see anyone again until late January. They finished in early February. In the meantime we received a 'Prelimnary Notice' from Dixieline, who was fabricating the doors, that reserved their right to place a lien on our property if they were not paid by Best Rate. Everybody said not to worry but we had to take a very deep breath, especially since there was no work being done at that point. We made sure to get waivers/releases on all of their payments and also asked Best-Rate to provide us with their release from Dixieline before our final payment. I would recommend that anyone getting work done on their homes use these forms. I should also say that I did get some comfort while we went though all of this from Best-Rate's stellar reviews in Angie's list. And Best-Rate was very willing and professional in helping us obtain all of these sign I'd also say that Best-Rate would improve the customers' experience if they provided some kind of curtain or shield when they were doing demo work. Short of that at least reminding the customer to protect things from all the dust raised. Over the weeks that followed the completion of our balcony we found over twenty nails strewn around our backyard. I would use Best-Rate again and I have already recommended them to friends.

The people were very nice and the owner anxious to remedy the pronlem but the danger they exposed me and my home to bt failing to turn off the gas while the house was tented is not excusable. They took a lot off my bill but still...unsafe

This was a big deal purchase. I am getting ready to ask for my money back on that. That's been a complete bait and switch. It was a pretty crooked deal. I was surprised myself; I have not had that in a while. They said it was four hours for minor drywall repair and that they could do it. He came out, looked at it and said they could do it within the four hours. Then he wanted me to sign a contract that he emailed me a week later that said six to eight hours and wanted me to sign an open contact for that. I called him back and said he told me he could do it in four, not six to eight. He said he just wanted to make sure. So we went back and forth and he said he would just do the four hours and then he would just stop. So, anyway, it is a complete bait and switch. I talked to the president of the company and he said they could do it with no problem and then they basically doubled to 8 hours for drywall. It was all about jacking it up.

The represented came out and rather than stating that it could be repaired in a certain amount of time, was told it could not be fixed and suggestions were made for a new garage door at a cost in excess of $1,000. Except for bottom of door the rest of the door is in perfect condition. I feel that this bringing in customers for a "savings of four hours of labor" was a gimmick to have someone come over, give an estimate (I was told on the phone the rep would come out to "give an estimate") and then quote more than what any savings would be. Did nothing except provide estimate of costs. Very disappointed in this whole thing and feel that I was gipped out of monies expended to this company.
