Welcome to Black Rock Automotive. Our Motto is: "We Can Do Stuff." Black Rock Automotive opened in February 2003 in the heart of Downtown Sacramento. The name "Black Rock" was inspired by the Black Rock Desert in northern Nevada, one of the most beautiful places on Earth and current location of the annual Burning Man cultural event. We are conveniently located a few blocks from the Alkali Flat-La Valentina Light Rail station in downtown Sacramento, CA. Our Current Address is near the corner of 13th and C Street). Those guys are really good. They really go the extra mile to explain to you what everything is and what it does and why they did the "XYZ." They're really straight up with you telling you why you need something or saying you don't need these stuff. They're really good.

Black Rock has been my go-to auto repair shop since I moved to Sacramento in 2008. They've consistently gotten the job done well, and if any tweaks need to be made within the warranty window, the fix is complimentary. Dave and his crew have always been friendly on the phone and in person, and they're always sure to show me old parts and what they did to fix the problem. I've even had them hang around a bit after closing so that I have time to make it there from work to pick up my car. A+ service all around.

They were terrible. Their service was really bad. I would definitely not recommend them or use them again. They were extremely unorganized. They lost my paper work and charged me for the same work that they had done on a previous visit. I called them on it and I felt it was a crappy experience. I think they legitimately lost my paperwork and did the same work for the second time. I tried to follow up with the owner several times but he never returned my phone calls.

They seemed really honest. They actually show you your old parts and explain to you what they did and why they're doing it. They will also let you know what should be done in the future, even if it doesn't have to be done immediately. They have a lot of integrity.

I think they have confident, knowledgeable, friendly, and honest mechanics. One time they made a mistake on my car, they immediately fixed it and sent me on my way free of charge. I'm pretty happy with them and they did a good job this last time as well.

It was a very quick and easy experience. Dave listens to you, asks questions and makes you feel comfortable. I felt completely at ease despite being a woman with limited understanding of car repair and being generally intimidated by going into repair shops. In both experiences I've had with Dave so far, he has given accurate estimates and treated me with respect. He is somewhat expensive- not as expensive as dealerships, but in the upper third? of hourly rates for independent mechanics shops. I feel that the cost is well worth it to deal with someone who is not only trustworthy, but also a nice person.
