Myriah and Steve from Lavish Gardens were great to work with. This job was a bit different for them, as we were working off of a design plan prepared by another landscape architect and I was more involved in the design tweaks and decision-making than most of their other clients. They were very accommodating and let us engage in the process as much as we wanted. The new concrete walkway with brick steps and inlays is unique and beautifully ties into the house. Steve and Myriah left me with full instructions regarding purchasing the water wise plants, and purchasing and installing the drip emitters. I appreciate them sharing their knowledge and experience and learned a lot. I would definitely recommend them.

Lavish Gardens sent Myriah over to do the bid. She arrived promptly, listened to my somewhat vague idea of what I wanted the backyard to look like and within half an hour measured the lot and created a hand drawn design to scale that incorporated everything I mentioned as well as other great features I had not thought of, but loved. With the 20% discount, Lavish Gardens was very competitive with our other bids and they were the only one to provide a design up front. We hired them to do the work. At that point Steve took the lead on the project. He was great to work with, kept me in the loop so I knew when and what would be done each day. All of the workers that worked on the project were professional and great to work with. Everything turned out as promised and at the price promised. We could not be happier with the finished product and would recommend Lavish Gardens to everyone. Although, I am sure they are all great to work with, I would highly recommend asking for Myriah and Steve to work on your landscaping job.

We worked with Landscape designer Max Vedder. He did an excellent job of listening to our needs and translating them into a design that exceeded our expectations. I would definitely recommend him to others.

Max was our design guy. All of our contact with him was great - his communication for appointments was consistent and timely and he showed up on time. Basically, he did what he said he would do, every time. He really listened to us, and gave us feedback that was helpful. We have basically been DIY kind of people, and have never designed a yard project this way. Max explained the process, which would take several meetings for changes. It all went smooth, and we ended up with a design that we are very happy with. We are anxious to get the project started. Mike, the owner, came out for a final evaluation of the yard with the design, and is currently working on getting us an estimate. Thank you Max, for helping us put our vision into something tangible. We are looking forward to seeing our backyard oasis come to life!

Owner Michael met with us and outlined the company and its practices. Designer Pricilla made several visits to meet with us, do a base map of our yard, gather our ideas, and learn how we used the space. She gave us drafts and time to consider and respond. She used programs on a laptop that allowed her to show us multiple-viewpoint simulations of our yard, adjust the plan, and show us how the revised plan would look--this really helped us visualize the plan. Her sensitivity to our feedback, coupled with her knowledge and design creativity, produced a great plan. Field foreman Steve explained all the steps from demo on, walked the space with us, and marked everything on the ground with us. There was one glitch in the demo, when a sewer clean-out access was damaged. Lavish Gardens consulted with the City and made all necessary repairs prior to proceeding with the concrete pour. The lead on the concrete, Miguel, also explained everything. He is a true professional--paying attention to small details like adding small pieces of rebar to fragile corners and edges--and an artist. Miguel very precisely delineated trim areas, stained them, and stamped them. (Steve had helped us chose the stamp that simulates slate rock and helped us go to a wholesaler that had a display of stain colors to help us chose the stain combination.) After the concrete cured, Miguel came back to remove the excess stain and to seal the concrete trim. Again, he was a perfectionist and true professional. It is the finest concrete work we have seen. Steve and lead Ivan installed the irrigation system and cobbles. Steve worked more with us on the final plant selection and he is very knowledgeable. Steve also has a very artistic eye for precisely locating each plant and selecting and locating each moss rock--his touch really shows in the final product. Ivan creatively solved a problem of how to route the water from two downspouts under a DG walkway. All the lead workers were very polite and considerate, consulted us when appropriate, and kept us informed. Steve was in frequent communication with us re the next steps and scheduling. We are very pleased with the results and many neighbors have commented on what an attractive and functional yard we now have. It has 2/3 less turf and is water-efficient, but still very welcoming and beautiful. We had a good experience working with Lavish Gardens and recommend them without hesitation.

Max is very conscientious and prompt. He has listened to our wishes and has performed splendidly in helping us meet our goals. We hope that the actual product is as good as the design has been. Thank you, Max

Myriah called several days before coming confirm the appointment, was prompted, very knowledgeable, professional...in short, a pleasure to work with. A week or so after her visit she emailed the itemized estimate which is very professionally done. As mentioned, we are still in the process of determining the best solution for our problem given our budget. I hope to work with Lavish Garden as I have complete faith in their expertise.

Lavish Gardens was easy to work with. We already had a landscape design, but Myriah, their landscape designer, was very helpful. Steve was our project manager, and he was extremely responsive, punctual and professional. Miguel did a great job with the driveway and front walkway and staircase, which was a tricky design and required about 10 concrete forms. Ivan and his crew did a great job with the retaining wall, paths, drip irrigation, etc. I waited to post this review to see how well Lavish Gardens would follow through on the inevitable fine tuning needed. When the fountain needed a repair, and some of the plants needed to be replaced, and a couple of other minor things needed to be done, they were quick to respond and fixed everything. They weren't the lowest bid I received for our landscaping, and I expect they are not usually the cheapest option. That is probably because they don't cut corners. They provided a good value for the money in my opinion. We were very pleased with the quality of the work and the overall result. And because we removed our lawn, we reduced our water use by nearly 80% in August.

Our experience with Lavish Gardens was a good one. We wanted to add a batting cage and landscaping to the corner of our yard. The owner Michael came and gave us some great ideas on how we could make it work. They came up with a design plan that satisfied our needs and still looked beautiful. The work was done in a timely and professional manner. I added work to be done as the project progressed and they handled the changes with no problem. The finished work turned out better than we imagined. The owner, office workers, design consultant, supervisors and workers were all friendly and helpful. I would recommend Lavish Gardens and would use them again in the future.

It went very well. Myriah Hoover was the designer and lead person on the project for Lavish Gardens. She was great. She had a good sense of what we were trying to accomplish and worked with us every step of the way. The Lavish work staff and supervisors were also great. They did an excellent job throughout. They were friendly, courteous and very competent. They responded to requests and made adjustments as requested. The patio sub-contractor suggested some changes to the original proposal which we agreed to and it made a tremendous improvement to the overall project. We are extremely satisfied with the job and, although it was expensive, we believe that it was well worth the cost. The only complaint we had was that it was difficult to get a schedule as to when they would be here or when aspects of the job would be completed. This was a minor problem and the end result was exceptional.

Lavish Gardens was one of several contractors we contacted to discuss re-landscaping our front yard to require less water. Myriah from Lavish Gardens offered to do a landscape design for us based on our requirements at a cost of $600. She indicated that if we were to select Lavish Gardens to do the work the cost of the design would be applied to the cost of the job. After speaking with her we liked her ideas and agreed to have her do the design. Although it took some time, Myriah was very good about working with us on changes and we were able arrive at a design that we thought would work well for us. We asked for estimates to complete the work from Lavish Gardens and 2 other landscape companies with high Angie's List ratings. After reviewing all estimates we decided that we would prefer to have Lavish Gardens do the work even though their estimate was somewhat higher than the others (even with the $600 credit) so that Myriah could be available if questions came up about the particulars of her landscape design. But we ultimately did not select them to do the work because they wanted payment of over 25% of the total job cost before any work was actually performed, with additional progress payments required during the course of the job. Under their progress payment schedule we would have had to pay over 90% of the job cost before any plants went into the ground. Lavish Gardens would not negotiate this point saying that their progress payment schedule was for the mutual protection of the contractor and the consumer but we felt that it provided very little protection for us.

It has been 11 days now and one phone call and NO price proposal. Steve was on time and seemed like a nice guy that understood our problem. He said he would have a bid in a couple days. I called the following Thursday and Steve finally called me back and said he would have the price to us by the weekend. It is now Tuesday evening and nothing. I guess they don't need the business and I am willing to oblige them. Called another co. And he came out right away and gave us a price on the spot. That is how business should be done.

Brought out a designer that listened to everything I asked for and melded it with their expertise. Everyone worked well together and communicated perfectly to ensure everything was done correctly. Steve, was excellent to work with. His knowledge, passion, and communication skills are next to none. And, the rest of the team are awesome too. We've landscaped two properties with Lavish Gardens and would use them again in the future. Michael, the owner stands behind his work and has the best landscaping team in the business.

We had a good experience with their landscape designer, Max. He was wonderful and he listened to us. He took into account what we wanted and addressed us accordingly. He worked with us and we never had an issue. I would use him again. When it came to the actual contractor, Jim, he showed up without letting us know. I was 8 month pregnant and he expected me to go out their and measure things for him. I told him i did not want certain things for wiring and the lighting and he did it. He had to come back and remove it. It wasn't what i asked for initially as far as the quality of the product they put in. Those are the things the could have fixed and done better.

From the get go, Lavish Gardens was a joy to work with. Anthony was the designer and he came up with the perfect design incorporating a family keepsake piece of concrete in to the design. I also loved the plants he came up with as well as tying in the brick face of the house with the concrete. The crew who put the design in to motion was very professional, always cleaned up every day and did an excellent job. Steve was the project manager and was so pleasant to work with, always keeping me informed as each phase began . The project that was completed included a new stamped concrete walkway and steps, a small wall structure with a stone cap, trees, plants, lawn and lighting. My front yard definitely has great curb appeal now! People are always slowing and stopping to get a better view. Thank you Michael, Steve, Anthony and everyone else at Lavish Gardens.

While I did not start the project yet, the estimator who came out was very knowledgeable and made sure to point out that this is my yard not hers and stressed communication of what I liked and wanted out my yard.

Design was redone a couple times to satisfy us. Remaining lawn needed better irrigation coverage so that was done by Lavish Gardens. The removal of the conversion lawn was done quickly & thoroughly. Mow strip between remaining lawn and converted area looks great. Moved the antisiphon valves & installed a smart controller for the irrigation system & revised the irrigation system for the remaining lawn area for better coverage. Installed drip for the converted area, built sod mounds, planted 72 plants with top soil, laid down 2" + walk on bark, brought in 5 large boulders (to include a particular one on which to display my succulent planter), laid down flagstone path & area for bench & birdbath. From job start to finish was less than 2 weeks. Everyone associated with Lavish Gardens was knowledgeable and professional, they showed respect for our property & cleaned up every day. Finish work (clean up, leveling of flagstone, cleaning the plants of dust, etc) was exceptional. Very pleased with Lavish Gardens & would not hesitate to recommend.

First of all, the estimator/project manager, Myriah, is the consummate professional and was very sympathetic to our needs, answering to issues as they arose. Now, the bad news. Lavish Gardens practically left me to manage my own project. There was on- site supervision less than 25% of the time that the crew was there, so the crew was left to their own devices when it came to problem solving. I caught a few of the problems before they got out of hand, but had to work them out with a crew that did not speak English very well. The product turned out satisfactory,but not without my repeated intervention in the process. On one item they missed, they had to bring a crew back to make corrections after the fact, during which they had to remove and re-build some of the work that was previously completed, creating a bit of a compromised end product. I believe Lavish Gardens is a very capable firm. I was also led to believe that the field management person that I think was the root of my particular issues was being let go. Just make sure that they promise to provide the necessary on-site supervision if you select them for your project.

Discussion was okay, however the owner contacted us back and said that their server went down and as soon as they made repairs he would contact us back and provide an itemized list of services and the costs. That was over a month ago and we have never heard back from them. This has lead to a delay in our ability to begin construction in our backyard based on the design concept they created. We are now in the process of contracting out all of the work. Very disappointed, our initial meetings and design phase went well but the lack of follow-up and no communication is unprofessional and lost them a contract.

I really can?t say enough good things about the job that Lavish Gardens Landscape did for us landscaping our backyard for our house in Davis, California. Lavish Gardens installed a short retaining wall, expanded our patio, and refined our front walkway. We initially met with Michael Cole to explain what we wanted and get the initial bid. Michael was able to refine our plan and provide a detailed bid/estimate for the project. This bid [promptly provided] enabled us to know the exact cost and scope of the project. Given the work involved in this project, we thought that Lavish Garden?s bid was VERY reasonable. The work was scheduled and the crew showed up as promised. They did a GREAT job on: the retaining wall [their ?stone guy? is a genius], the lawn actually looked better when they left then when they arrived [probably because they optimized the sprinkler layout] and the expanded patio was just beautiful. Steve Long, the Site Supervisor, kept us apprised of what was happening and consulted with us on the details of the project. His ideas were great and he was simply a pleasure to work with. All of our neighbors loved the final results. Finding Lavish Gardens on Angie?s list made it clear what a great service Angie's List provides [it?s pretty clear what an amazing company Lavish Gardens is when you take the time to review the data on this company]. It?s a rare experience now to find a company who is not only knowledgeable, skillful and CARES about what they do but Lavish Gardens is all of this and more. I could not recommend Lavish Gardens and their entire staff highly enough.

Their plans were great. The guy they sent out was very professional and listened to everything I had to say. Their estimate was a little high for us at that time though.

My wife and I were extremely pleased by the work of Lavish Gardens. We were especially impressed by the organization and efficiency of the company?s design and planting/installation process. We came to the landscaping project with our own ideas of what plants and other features we wanted and where we wanted them. Lavish gardens put our ideas into scale drawings with recommended changes based on sun/shade exposure, soil, drainage, aesthetics, etc. including photographs, text, and plan drawings showing/explaining colors and dimensions and what the plants and trees were likely to look like at maturity. The result was clearly a much better plan than we would have devised on our own. After completion of the design, Lavish Gardens provided a detailed line item bid/estimate of costs. The detailed bid made it easy to determine if we wanted to change, add or exclude items based on costs. The itemization also made it easier for us to judge whether the prices were fair and reasonable. The planting/installation was done by an experienced crew and the workmanship and was completely professional. The work on the project was not continuous because it had to be coordinated with suppliers and other projects of Lavish Gardens. But the crews were on the project at all times when we were told they would be there, and all of our questions and requests for changes were responded to by phone or text promptly and in all cases within 24 hours. Nothing had to be changed or redone because of a lack of communication. The project involved less stress and a better result than I anticipated.
