I was attracted by the $999 driveway coupon. I tried twice to contact this company to get a quote for both my driveway and some additional work, first by email and then by phone. I never got a response to either request. I hate to give a company an "F" when they haven't actually done any work for me but what should I give someone who can't even email/call back? Yes, I checked my spam folder and my answering machine - nada.

My time frame was flexible, so the work went well. They had larger jobs, plus some rainy days, so my job had to be fit in on differing days, which was fine. Their design was the best (from my point of view) - nice curb, drain (could have been larger) and smooth transition with other existing concrete. They were thoughtful and there was attention to detail in the design with the drains, curb, slope, etc. I plan to use this company again with additional concrete as my budget allows. (I apologize that I posted this initially with the wrong company!)

I received three estimates for a small concrete excavating job in my backyard. Ron gave a fair price and understood immediately what I wanted done. Ron was friendly, professional and knowledgeable. The work was done quickly and Ron's crew cleaned up wonderfully. I would not hesitate to call him again.

I know nothing about landscaping or yard-work and just bought a house that needs serious landscaping. I had my concrete work done through CLS and mentioned to Ron (the owner) I was meeting with a landscaper. After meeting with another Angie's list landscaper I met with Aaron per Ron's suggestion. I was immediately impressed with his enthusiasm and decided to use him instead (plus his rates were better). Unfortunately for Aaron I had every contractor in Sacramento working on my home. Each time I met with Aaron to discuss my future landscaping ideas or when he came for weekly service my house was a complete disaster area filled with roofers one week, painters and general contractors the next. Aaron felt bad since he couldn't do the job he wanted while all their stuff was in the way. I told him not to worry he'd get his chance. So finally last week we got together and setup a time to give my place a complete overhaul, no more contractors around but him. We decided to use decorative rock (since I'm low maintenance), install sod and sprinkler system in the backyard as well as numerous flowers/shrubs/trees. Unfortunately I had to go out of town the weekend he was doing it and I can honestly say I was more excited to see what he was going to do than I was to go to Vegas, haha. When I got home Monday he was just finishing up and I was immediately floored. The place looked better than I had hoped!! They did a fantasic job. It looks like a whole new place. All my friends can't believe how much better it looks and I can't wait to spend time in my backyard showing it off. I highly recommend Aaron and CLS for your landscaping needs. He listens and is always quick to answer the phone and make sure you're satisfied. I had him over to pay him for his hard work and the man spends an hour walking around my yard making sure everything is perfect......that's what I call service and a class act all the way.
Description of Work: I had decorative rock around oak tree, pool and front/back of the home. Installed sod and sprinkler system in backyard, along with flowerbed. New shrubs around front/back, trees removed and walkway installed around the back.
My home is 33 years old. The pool deck and patio were approximately 30 years old. Both were badly cracked. A very unstable flagstone walkway was the way to get to the far side of my property. My irrigation system was in sad repair, and I really wanted a drip system to keep from having to water potted plants by hand. Ron Davis is the owner of CLS. He gave me an estimate to do all the repairs and improvements that were needed. Before and during the demo and construction, I changed my mind several times what I wanted done and how and added more things than I care to remember. Ron accepted all the changes with a cheerful attitude. He, in fact, has the most amazing attitude of anyone I've ever met. No matter what the problem, his response was, "Don't worry, it'll be fine." And, somehow it was. The patio and pool deck were jack-hammered out and replaced with stamped concrete. During the pool deck work, several leaks were detected in the pool skimmer. I wanted to call a company to fix the leaks, but Ron wouldn't hear of it. It took some time, but the leaks were stopped, and I now only fill my pool every 5 or 6 days, not every other day. A beautiful curving walkway was poured around my wooden deck and meanders to the other side of the property. Ron took the existing flagstones and set them in concrete to create a walkway to the gate on that side of the property. The hose bib that was on the patio was moved to the side and another installed next to a wooden deck. Very convenient. The drip system is wonderful. Several french drains were also included in the project. Ron's crew is polite and professional. His sons were here a couple of days to work and seem to have inherited their dad's work ethic. Ron went above and beyond when he had to crawl under the house to run wiring for one of the sprinkler valves. He must've been under there an hour. Glad it was him and not me. All in all, it was a very good experience. I'm glad I found Concrete Landscape Services on Angie's List.
Description of Work: Patio and pool deck were removed and replaced. RV pad was poured. Walkway was installed from pool area to far side of property. Keystone retaining wall and planters were installed. Decomposed granite was installed where there were no planters. Flagstone walkway was laid on side of house. Existing watering system was revamped. Leaks were fixed. Drip system was installed. Several leaks in the pool skimmer were also fixed.

Ron and his crew were amazing. The concrete patio/walkway/basketball court looks great and exceeded my expectations. This being my first home I was hesitant about hiring just any contractor to get the job done. I signed up for Angie's list to somewhat protect me from the horror stories my friends have told me about other contractors. I originally signed up for the 10x10 special running at the time, but after meeting with Ron decided I needed it much larger!! Ron gave me suggestions along the way, one of which was the pathway leading to the patio. The final product turned out better than I had planned. In fact the whole neighborhood was soo impressed by his work nearly every homeowner on my block came over to introduced themselves to me and to get his card, lol. I got a few estimates to replace my eroding decking around the pool and had Ron give me a quote, to my surprise he beat the other two estimates so I decided to have him do it as well. My pool deck is probably 15yrs + and he matched it up beautifully. If you're looking for a concrete guy Ron's your man, he gives it to you straight and will give you the best deal. Plus he's a nice guy and gave me advice about other jobs I'm having done on my place even though he wasn't bidding on it. His son runs the landscaping crew and I must say they really cleaned up my backyard nicely too, he's now doing my weekly yard service too. Gotta say I'm thoroughly impressed with the whole operation and would recommend them to my friends and family.

My experience with Ron Davis was the best experience I have ever had with a contractor/businessman/individual. I cannot speak highly enough of Ron, his crew, and his company. Ron is a very professional, courteous, considerate businessman, who took my concerns and ideas seriously. He answered all of our questions patiently, never making us feel we were asking ?dumb? questions, taking as much time as was necessary. He kept in touch with us, never leaving us hanging. I needed my driveway widened, and an RV pad poured on my side yard. I obtained five different estimates. A couple of them wrote a number on the back of their business card, and one other emailed a bid. Ron, on the other hand, provided a legal, legitimate estimate in writing, along with a disclosure sheet relating to concrete. Not only that, but without my asking, he provided the names and numbers of five references, past customers, all of whom I talked to. Ron was the only contractor to tell me I should not drive/park on the newly poured concrete for four weeks, to allow the concrete to cure properly and to eliminate any problems due to weight. ALL of that BEFORE I engaged his services! Ron and the crew were at my house exactly when he said he would be. On the day of the pour, the crew was early, making sure everything was ready for the concrete before it was poured. The crew was polite, professional, and quite efficient. They obviously knew what they were doing, and worked really well together, as one unit. They cleaned up after the pour (as well as the two days prior when they worked). I would not hesitate to recommend Ron to my family or closest friends. He is clearly the BEST!

We had a badly damaged concrete driveway and front porch from the roots of an old tree growing next to the driveway. After extensive research and five bids, (four of which from companies on Angie's List), we decided to hire Ron Davis and his company Concrete Landscape Services. From our first meeting with Ron, we were impressed with his attentiveness not only to our immediate needs of a new driveway and porch, but to how we could solve our drainage problems and accessability to another part of our yard. The estimate was within range of other companies but our deciding factor was Ron's willingness to spend thoughtful time with us to determine what we wanted and needed. Ron and his team were polite, on time, courteous, hard working and knowledgeable of their trade. The job began the day we signed the final contract. Our driveway, porch and roots were removed by the end of the first day. The forms were constructed on the second day and the French drain installed and connected to 3 existing down spouts on the third day. Early on the forth day, a concrete truck arrived and the porch and driveway were pored. That same day, control joints were cut into the driveway, a 1' band around both the driveway and the porch were cut , as well as a diamond pattern was cut into the porch for aesthetic purposes. We had discussed with Ron that we were planning on having an iron gate installed at the end of our driveway. He recommended that we purchase the posts and he would install them the day they pored the concrete. We did as he recommended, and both posts were placed where the iron gate was to be installed. That next week, as we began to have iron companies come out for estimates, it was called to our attention that one of the iron posts was not positioned correctly. We contacted Ron and told him of the issue. Without hesitation, he came back to our house that day and had his team fix the problem. Without hesitation, we wholeheartedly recommend Ron Davis and Concrete Landscaping Services. He is an honest man who does a job you can count on.
Description of Work: Damaged concrete driveway, porch and roots of a nearby tree were removed. A foundation was graded and prepped for concrete installation of a new driveway and front porch. Forms and levelings were installed with a laser level for proper pitch for drainage. A French drain was installed to prevent standing water. Three down spouts were connected to the main drain line and was extended through to the end of the driveway. The driveway and porch were finished with a broom finish with control joints cut in equally to improve the appearance of the concrete. A 1' band was installed in the driveway and porch entrance and diamond cuts were cut into the porch for appearance purposes.

He was very professional, but did not give me a qoute right away. He emailed me a printed qoute with exactly what he would do. The price was a little more expensive than others i qouted, because he added in a little more additions. But overall working with him was nice.
Before giving his estimate Ron carefully inspected all aspects of the job and pointed out several issues that other contractors had not noticed. He was friendly and easy to work with. The new work looks great and we are very happy with the result. In some respects he did more than was strictly required by the contract, like replacing with sod some grass that had been disturbed. At my request he also put rebars in the front walkway at no additional charge although this was not required by the original contract. He promptly discussed with me various minor problems that arose and resolved them satisfactorily. In general he was eager to please and to do a good job. I would gladly recommend him to others.
Description of Work: Concrete Landscape Services tore up our old driveway, the walkway to the entrance to our house, the concrete floor of our carport, and replaced all of this with new concrete. It also created a new short walkway from the driveway to the walkway. The new work had used colored concrete with a texture and geometric patterns.

It was a pleasure working with this company and the President Ron Davis. The crew, led by Ron, was a little late but communicated well with me before the delay. The work included repairing a crack in my patio concrete and removing a tree root that had caused the crack. The experience was delightful and the crew was very professional and communication was great during the whole process. They cleaned up the old concrete and cleaned up after they had finished. Will absolutely use them again for this type of work.
Description of Work: Concrete Landscape Services was hired through Angie's List Big Deal for concrete repair of back yard patio. The concrete slab had cracked and raised part of the patio due to a large tree root growing underneath. Their job was to remove the affected section of patio and the root and match a new pour to the existing patio footprint and secure the new to the old.

rFailed to start paid for work, failed to respond to requests for contact. Generally a miserable experience. I want my money back so I may deal with a morer reliable contractor.
Description of Work: On April 19, 2012, I bought the “big deal” package of the Concrete service for $999.00After several attempts to contact the vendor (Concrete Landscape Services), I finally made contact with Mr. Ron Davis. We set up an appointment for an estimate of costs, due to wanting more than the plain walkway. The appointment was set for Tuesday PM. Mr. Davis failed to keep the appointment, and failed to notify me that he would be unable to keep the appointment .After several more tries, I finally was able to talk to Mr. Davis about rescheduling. The appointment was rescheduled for the following Wednesday. Mr. Davis was a “no show” once again. On Friday evening May 11 Mr. Davis appeared on our door step, willing to talk about what we wanted from his company. Mr. Davis took measurements and promised an estimate by the following Monday.Again Mr. Davis was a “no show”, with no contact to explain why he did not keep the appointment. On Wednesday after trying to contact Mr Davis by telephone, I sent Mr. Davis an Email requesting he contact me, to ascertain the status of the project (Do you want the job?).I called Mr. Davis’s business telephone and received a recording, and I agin left a message to contact me on whether or not he wanted the job .It is now Saturday, May 19th and I still haven’t heard from Mr. Davis. At this point I can only assume that Mr. Davis, does not want the job and potentially, if forced into doing the job, it would be potentially marginally acceptable.Proposed solution:I wish to be made whole. Canceling the offer of a job to Mr. Davis and receive a total refund of monies I have paid for this “Big Deal”.

Pretty basic story. Ron was the third guy from Angie's list that I had out to my house for an estimate. When he knew he might be a little late, he was prompt in calling me and telling me so. He was very helpful and explained everything he was doing and why, asked me for my input, and made sure that I understood everything. He delivered the estimate as promised and even followed up with a phone call to make sure I got it.

Very disappointed in the experience I had with CLS. I called and set an appointment up for 11-12PM on Wednesday. At 5 after 11, Ron called to see if we were still on. Uh why wouldn't we be? He said he got caught in meetings and would be there in an hour. No problem, it happens. At 12:30 I called to see where he was thinking he had gotten lost. He said he would be there within 20 minutes he stopped at another job to see how it was going. He finally got here just before 1PM. I explained what needed to be done, he understood and took measurements and said he would get a bid to me by Friday. This is now Saturday afternoon and I have yet to hear a word from him. The other contractors I have had here have had an estimate in my hand either immediately or by end of day. They also showed up when they said they would. I understand that delays happen. I understand meetings can run long. Being an hour late for an appointment that had an hour window to start is unprofessional at best. My time is also valuable. I will use one of the other contractors I have bids from.
Description of Work: Requested a bid for a patio to be poured, tilling, grading and prep for sod
I contacted three concrete service companies to get initial bids and project details. By far, the bid Ron Davis created for me was the most detailed and descriptive of the three. I presented Ron with a hand-drawn sketch of the work I wanted done. After a few days of evaluation, Ron spent a considerable amount of time talking with me about that plan, and his suggestions for improving the plan, and options I would have. The referral contacts of prior jobs he provided to me raved about the quality of his work, and the value they received for the money spent. After meeting with Ron again, I accepted the terms of the bid submitted, and authorized the work to proceed. The crew from Concrete Landscape Services was hard working and professional. I was very impressed by the speed at which the preparation of the site took place, and the care that went into cleanup that took place at the end of each work day. Ron has a crew of very experienced workers, who waste no time in getting the job started, moving the job towards completion, and ensuring satisfaction when the job is done and the cleanup is complete. The coordination between the concrete work, the drainage work, and the sprinkler work was seamless. The overall work was done in a couple of major phases, which allowed me to have driveway access at all times for my vehicles, and the vehicles of my sons who share my home. The driveway work was coordinated with the resetting of an existing ironwork fence on the main driveway, and the installation of a new ironwork fence on the new, secondary driveway. Ron coordinated this work into the concrete work without trouble. Because some of the form work for the concrete slightly impacted the edge of the yard on my neighbors front and side yard, Ron took special care to completely restore the areas affected, and actually improved and enhanced the adjacent landscaped area bordering my neighbors home to ensure that both I and my neighbor were happy, and that no impact showed from the extensive work that was done. The work has transformed my yard, on the front, sides, and back of the property. Everyone, which includes my parents, relations, and neighbors, who has seen the work have had only positive comments on the excellent design, concrete patterns, overall planning, and speed at which the work was completed. The amount of money that I invested in this work is, for me, quite substantial, but I feel that I definitely got my money's worth on this work. As I plan to own and live at this property for the rest of my life (which I anticipate at this time will be a few more decades), I see this work as one of the best investments I have made, not only for this property, but in my entire life. I have told Ron that he can use me as a referral for any future jobs he will bid, and that all of the referrals will be welcome to stop by and tour the property to look at the work. Getting this work in place will now allow me to move forward with the addition to the garage, some additional ironwork on the front yard sidewalk border, stonework or paver-brick work on the front porch, house front, and backyard, extensive native-plants and ground cover landscaping in the front and back yard, and creating a vegetable garden area in the back yard. When getting bids for this type of work, be sure to include Ron Davis and Concrete Landscape Services as one of your choices. After meeting with Ron and together reviewing the work to be done, I am quite sure that you will be very satisfied in making the choice to use go with this company.
Description of Work: Complete removing of existing driveway, front walkway, back patio, backyard concrete pad just off the back patio, and a storage shed with a small adjacent pad. Grading and leveling of front and back yard to create drainage away from the house. Removal of old galvanized pipe sprinkler systems. Installed french drains and additional drainage around entire property - back, sides, and front - to direct all water from rainfall and overflow from neighbors yards out to the front street gutters and drains. This included connecting all home and garage downspouts into this drainage system. Installed sprinkler systems, with automatic timers for front and back yard landscaped areas. Installed a new main driveway on the garage side of the house, a new second driveway with large parking pad on the other side of the house, new front yard walkways connecting the street sidewalk to the front porch, and connecting the two driveways to each other, new back porch steps and walkway extending from these steps, along the side of the garage, and to the back of the property, a new concrete pad behind the garage where the old shed once stood (in anticipation of a garage extension off the back of the garage), a concrete porch across the entire back of the house, a new rolled-sod grass area with sprinklers comprising about 60% of the back yard, and water and electrical runs to a new vegetable garden area along the back of the property. The concrete work was a mix of broomed and stamped concrete, with borders and narrow stripes accenting the larger concrete squares and rectangles on the driveway and pad work. The front walkways are a curved design that greatly enhances the visual appeal of the front yard area.

I have just one word to describe Ron and his crew - WOW! Ron , the President of Concrete Landscape Services, came to my home and gave me an estimate to remove and replace a 650 square foot patio with a french drain. He was very personable, professional and pointed out things that would make my patio aesthetically pleasing. He offered to bury my water pipe which ran along the front of the old patio, add a faucet across the sidewalk and numerous other suggestions that no one else mentioned - I had five estimates. I liked Ron immediately and felt he cared about the product he produced, the way he paid attention to detail and was extremely helpful. Ron and his crew arrived on time each and every day until the patio was complete. Watching them work was like watching an artist working their craft. I can't begin to express how wonderful Ron's crew are, they are all likeable, professional and extremely hardworking. After the job was complete, they washed down the sidewalks, driveway and picked up all debris and left the area completely clean. To sum it up, this company went beyond all my expectations, I would recommend Concrete Landscape Services to anyone - if you want someone who cares about customer satisfaction, professionalism, beautiful work and a joy to have around - this is the company you want. I am so glad I picked Ron as my contractor - you can hire this company with complete assurance that the job you want done, will turn out better than you had ever imagined. Thank you Ron and Crew.
Description of Work: Tore out old concrete patio, hauled off all concrete and dirt, graded area and installed a french drain, adding gravel and framing 650 square feet for pour. Poured colored, stamped concrete patio with one foot of broom sweep border. Cleaned up entire area and washed down sidewalks and driveway.
We conceived and drew our own plan for our project. We wanted ramps for ease of access. We had non-standard design incorporating a hexagon motif, which matches the fountain. Ron of Concrete Landscape Services was able to easily understand, estimate, and make the plan a reality. CLS has excellent equipment: a bobcat, a dump-able large utility trailer, a utility truck, stamps and all the proper tools for the job. CLS back-filled dirt around the concrete to make it fit to the landscape. All construction mess was cleaned up. Ron has done an excellent job. He has an excellent crew. They are very well-trained, mature and well-behaved. Twenty-three yards of concrete were used.
Description of Work: Concrete Landscape Services installed a driveway 27’ x 19’, a sidewalk 71’ x 4’, a patio and steps 15’ x 12’, and a patio 32’ x 30’. All concrete was plum colored, banded and stamped. The existing front step was jackhammered low enough to accommodate new concrete. An old small sidewalk was removed in the patio porch area. Antiquated back steps were removed. All old concrete was removed and hauled away. The area was graded, and excess soil hauled away. The forms were set by transit. A fountain was set within the patio area. Electric lines for the fountain and sprinkler timers were laid under the concrete. A switch for the fountain was installed. A sidewalk pathway post light was installed between the garage and front door. Stone was installed to the columns at the front door to match the post light column. A privacy screen and gate was installed between front walk and backdoor.
I thought they were very helpful and helped me see what was involved and took a good approach. It was kind of analytical and diagnostic to see if it was a real problem.
Description of Work: I had sewers under my concrete deck that needed work. I needed someone who could deal with cutting the concrete.

He was friendly. We had mixed feelings about the job. We don't know if we would use them again.

Response from Concrete Landscape Services
Completed work for property owners rental property. Many codes violations as far as building structure. After we finished the job property owner felt we should do additional clean up work that what was not originally agreed upon. I felt we went beyond the call of duty to make the property owner happy.

I plan to use them. They seemed to be very polite, prompt and knowledgeable. Their price was average.

The project went very well from start to finish. Ron went out the day after our call to begin preparations for installing the sidewalk on the following day. The cement work was carefully done to have the water run off correctly and into the catch drain. After the cement set-up overnight, they returned the next day to remove the forms. We were very pleased with his timeliness and good work ethic.
Description of Work: Ron Davis and his crew worked promptly and efficiently to correct a drainage problem that had developed around the entrance of one our duplex units. I was impressed with his professional manner, even taking on the difficulty of correcting someone else's previous mistake in the placement of a perforated pipe. He then installed a well crafted sidewalk to include screened openings that accommodate the french drain beneath. As a person who has dealt with many subcontractors from all trades, I am confident in recommending Ron to anyone, and will surely be using his services for future projects at our multi-unit property.
