CLS was only 2 of 4 contractors I contacted who actually provided me with a bid for my project, which surprised me in this tough economy. Ron Davis (president and project manager of CLS) made a very timely and detailed bid and provided excellent answers to a few questions I had on the bid details. Not only did he provide me with the bid, but gave me names of people who vouched for his good work. Ron analyzed our side yard drainage problem very well and proposed an excellent solution. He called the utilities before his crew did any work and we found out that our TV/internet cable was close to where they needed to dig. I was pretty nervous about them digging in the area, but they expertly found the cable and avoided it entirely. Their trenching did cut into an existing irrigation line, which was no big deal and they repaired that as part of their work without any problems. In a pleasant surprise for me, Ron and his crew found a functioning drainage line from the back yard that they were able to tie into the new drainage and they also found a functioning drainage outlet that I thought had been lost to some tree roots. While they didn't rely on the old drainage outlet to complete their project, they did tie it into the new drainage and that provided an additional drain that I hadn't expected. After cutting and jackhammering concrete, then trenching (mostly by hand to avoid the TV/internet cable), they placed the new drainage pipe then poured new sidewalk where our old sidewalk had started to slope into our garage over the years (water coming into our garage last winter was the big tipoff that we had a problem). We've had one significant rain storm since the project was completed and didn't have any water come into our garage at all - a successful project! I think the only negative surprise I had was that our final project cost $400 more than the initial bid of $2550; however, Ron had stated in the contract that significant underground obstacles would increase the price of the project. They did encounter some big tree roots (a couple looked to be about 4" in diameter) that they had to cut out (while avoiding that cable). I'd mentioned a very positive surprise above about tying into some existing drainage. Overall, I think this price was fair given all the extra work they did. I'm very happy with CLS and their work and the attention Ron and his crew gave the project. They were on time, cleaned up each day, and their work did exactly what it was supposed to do. I give them a strong recommendation.

EXCELLENT work. Ron is one of the few contractors we have enjoyed working with: extremely professional, knowledgeable and hard working. He was prompt and fair with the bid, with all details spelled out completely. He provided sound evaluation of our drainage needs and the best way to achieve it. His men were courteous, hard working and cleaned up thoroughly. The job was a lot more labor intensive due to large roots from existing trees, but they were able to complete the job as planned. Ron was always available, and even returned in the evening when we were both home to answer our questions. Would definitely recommend this group for any concrete/drainage jobs.

Excellent service and professionalism from time of initial response to submit a bid, to completion of project and clean up. I would certainly recommend Ron Davis to anyone needing cement services. He was readily available at all times during the entire process, from analyzing the problem to completion. Excellent work crew.

Ron came over to assess the job. He was very friendly and spent about a half hour with me, discussing everything I wanted done and options for how to do them. (The other contractors who'd come over were pretty perfunctory.) Within a few days, Ron e-mailed his bid, a contract, and a warranty and disclosure form. The contract was extremely detailed and explicit as to everything the job entailed. (The other contractors' bids were very brief.) Ron's bid was within the ballpark of 2 of the other 3 bids. I was very impressed with Ron's generosity with his time, his respect for me when answering my questions and his attention to detail. I had a friend review the bid, and he had some concerns regarding the warranty and disclosure form. I called Ron with these concerns, and he addressed them in a way that I understood and was reassured. Ron and his crew arrived on time on the appointed day. The job was finished in 3 days, as Ron had promised. They cleaned up at the end of each day. One problem did occur. Apparently when his crew was digging down to install the root barrier, they tossed the dirt onto several of my plants. I informed Ron of this. He came over in the evening to see the problem, and had his crew clean it up the next day. While the plants are still not totally cleaned up, Ron said he'd take care of it after the concrete dried. All in all, I am very pleased with the work that Ron and his crew did. They were very professional. Ron is a very personable guy and very easy to talk to. I would definitely hire him again.

Work was scheduled promptly; the project conducted efficiently yet with great care; property tennants experienced minor inconveniences; site was left cleaned at the end of the day; Ron kept me informed during the entire process with emails and photos. The project was completed start to finish in four days. They did beautiful work, that is if concrete can be described as beautiful. They were a pleasure to work with. I look forward to having them replace my own cracked driveway.
