Lucky Sully Chimney and Duct Cleaning

I have a 2-story house in Brea with a very tall one-piece concrete chimney. After the March 28 earthquake, the flashing on both sides had been bent away from the chimney leaving open space between the chimney and the attic. The chimney was still solid and in the right place, but I needed the flashing fixed. The owner Dan came out on a Sunday afternoon and inspected the chimney. He decided how his team could repair and reattach the flashing, and five of my neighbors with the same problem joined with me in hiring Lucky Sully. Two teams showed up this morning and ultimately they repaired five of the houses and have appointments to do two other houses around the corner tomorrow. Unfortunately, they decided one of my neighbor's chimneys was too unstable for this repair, and decided they couldn't do it. So, they aren't just out for the money. Overall. the repair was done well and it looks good. They had to add some flashing and used concrete screws to attach it to the chimney. They painted all the new metal to match the chimney. Brian was the project leader, and he was very good to work with. He also cleaned the inside of my fireplace and chimney, and inspected it from below and on top of the roof. Assuming i don't get hit with another big quake, I am confident this repair will last.

Called Dan to make an appointment and Brian was out the following week. We asked for a wknd appt so my husband can be present and Brian was right on time for our 9 a.m. appt, arriving even a few minutes early. Not only was Brian punctual, he was also professional throughout the entire process, including taking off his shoes at our request because our 3 yo is currently sick. I had 101 questions for Brian and he answered all of them with patience and details, not once did he seem annoyed or squirmy in his answers (as some contractors unfortunately do). He laid down tarps/cloth to protect our wood floors and showed us before & after photos of the repairs and cap installation, something seldom done if at all by contractors. He was in and out within 2 hrs and he did such a good job in not making a mess/cleaning that you can't even tell he had been here. Their prices are also very reasonable, compared to prices we've seen on reviews of other chimney contractors; Brian even applied the $10 off for Angie's list members when we inquired about it without any fuss. Finally, we need a fireplace door and Brian patiently walked us through how to order one online. Needless to say, we'll definitely be calling them back to install and for all our chimney/fireplace repairs in the future.

He was very professional and did not push us to do anything, but the pictures were enough to convince us. Afterwards he showed us what the repair looked like. We were highly pleased with the way he conducted himself and his work. Would highly recommend.

The inspection went well. I was told that my mortar was breaking down and would have to get a sleeve put in. He didn't recommend my use of the fireplace. He told me the owner would contact me with a quote on this. I waited a couple weeks but no call. I called them and spoke to owner who told me he was sorry but things were so busy and he had not had a chance to call. He told me he was on his way home and that he would call me the next day with the quote. He never called. I called him a week later and left msg. He called me the next day and told me he was swamped and if I still wanted the quote. After all this he still didn't have the quote so I gave up. I am interested in using my fireplace safely but I obviously won't be using him. Didn't feel my $130 was well spent.

Also sealed hole around gas valve to prevent fire backdraft into surrounding walls. Apparently, problems with fires in our type of chimneys.

Showed up promptly, kept everything incredibly clean, performed the service quickly, cleaned up. Very professional and a pleasure to have in my home

Brian was great to work with. He answered all our questions and explained everything to us. We have two fireplaces with a shared chimney in our 55 year old house - one fireplace has not been used much and Brian informed us that it didn't need to be swept. He swept the other one and inspected everything. Using pictures, he showed us that the crown of the chimney needed to be repaired as well as part of the firebox in one fireplace, which he did for us. We thought the experience was a positive one. Thanks Brian.

Brian arrived on time, cleaned the chimney and then climbed on the roof to check the chimney stack. He took a picture and let me know that the chimney needed some repairs and let me know how much to fix it. He was back on Monday to repair the chimney, sent me more pictures and completed the job. Lucky Sully is very professional, courteous, and I will recommend them to my friends and family. Great job, guys!

It was reasonable and very clean work. He arrived on time and he was efficient. And he covered surrounding floors to prevent soot. We would definitely recommend him.

They showed me that a bunch of the items on the inspection really were not necessary and that the chimney just needed some key components fixed / added and a good cleaning. They are a great and honest company.

Very professional and high tech...used drone to inspect chimney cap....video of flight was amazing. Left the house cleaner than when cleaning began.

I used a coupon that I got from Angie's List. I liked the guy that came out and he had to come out two or three times because the job kept getting to be more complex. It turned out to be a lot more than I originally called them out for and I don't think it was their fault though. I think they were able to do a repair that was unanticipated until they actually came out and did the cleaning. The price was a bit high but having never had a fireplace fixed before; I can't compare it to anything. I was very surprised and kind of unhappy with the price but that doesn't mean that was their fault. They were very good and responsive. I do think they are on Angie's List.

We had Lucky Sully come to our newly renovated house to sweep our chimneys (two side by side wood burning fireplaces). During the inspection, we were advised that we ought to repair the flashing around the chimney, as well as install a new chimney cap (the house did not have a cap when purchased). The cleaning was more needed than we realized, as a lot of construction dust had gotten caked onto the walls of our chimneys. We opted for a more expensive chimney cap (a single stainless steel cap that spans both chimneys), which was a little bit more expensive than we had hoped for ($425), but at least it has a lifetime warranty, and looks great.

The guy did a good job and covered stuff in my home so nothing got dirty. He was very nice and friendly.

My wife, toddler, and I recently purchased a home with a fireplace. The previous owner (since 2004) had not used the chimney, but the house was built in the 1950's, so I wanted a thorough inspection prior to starting a fire. Mike arrived exactly on time, explained what he would be doing, did it quietly (a nap time was just starting), and explained everything in great detail when finished. He was professional and nice. And here is the best thing, I had been quoted a price of $275. Mike said that since the chimney didn't need to be cleaned, he was only charging me $199! When I have burned my cord of wood, I'll be bringing Mike back again to see how the chimney did.

I had my chimney cleaned and inspected. I needed some work done added a flu, a cap, sealed cracks and a heat shield. I wanted to restore the gas feature. The repair man Brian didn't excellent job. He was quick, clean and knowledgeable.

I believe his name was Bryan or Brian. He did an excellent job. He was very professional and knew what he was doing. He wasted no time, but was very pleasant. My husband was impressed and he is not easy to impress.

The gentleman that came out was polite. There was no fuss and no mess. I was very pleased with the service and he did a great job.

Brian arrived as scheduled and was very friendly and professional. He made sure that the area around my family room was covered so my carpet and furniture did not get dirty. He explained the proper procedures in lighting the fire and cleaning out fireplace. He also packed up my old gas logs for me. Would highly recommend. Great customer service from the start. I was given an appointment time and they delivered. Brian called 30 min before to let me know he was on his way. He was really polite and courteous and he answered all of my questions and addressed all of my concerns. When he was done with the inspection and cleaning he explained what he had noticed throughout the inspection. He was honest and thorough with the few issues he came across. He didn't try to hard sell anything, he merely brought it to my attention. I asked him if he'd be able to correct the issues that same day and he said of course! Start to finish from the time he got there until the last repair was done, Brian was there about 2 hours. I really appreciate his professionalism and prompt service. These guys are awesome!! I would definitely use them again!!

Lucky Sully arrived early, which was just fine by me! My dog greeted him (top hat and all) at this truck and Lucky gave her a warm hello and a pat on the head...always a good sign : ) Our home was built in 1924, so I wanted to be sure we didn't have any structural issues or other surprises that would keep us from using our fireplace on these chilly evenings. He inspected the chimney from within the house as well as from the roof and gave it a good sweep. He provided me much appreciated information about the structure or our fireplace and hearth (it had been altered a bit from the original), the type of grate that we would need as well as where to build the fire for optimal burning efficiency. For such potentially messy work, he was was careful to keep the carpet and wood floor clean by using a tarp and vacuum. All told, I was very happy with his service and his affable nature as well!
