Ron custom made iron railing for my front porch. His craftsmanship is perfection. The time he took to explain things and execute was very professional. I am very happy with the end results. Beautifully handcrafted. I am an interior designer and it's hard to come by quality contractors. I will be calling him again for all my future iron/welding needs!

We made some changes to our house that required we modify our stairway. We asked Ron for a bid on the wrought-iron rail. Ron showed up at the appointed time to take measurements and give us a bid. He asked a lot of questions to make sure that he knew exactly what we wanted. He's meticulous and detail-oriented, so it took some time, but the questions were important ones. Naturally, we changed our mind on what we wanted before it was over; he was courteous about responding quickly to let us know what our altered vision would cost. His final bid was very competitive and he met our deadline for getting the rail installed. As the process went on, he kept us involved in the decisions he was making that might affect the look of the rail and asked for our input, which was a nice change from other contractors we've worked with. We love the finished product and would recommend him to others.

Ron was amazing. Professional, knowledgeable, and honest. I contacted Ron to fashion a decorative wrought iron fence that would also serve as a safety fence between my house and my pool yard. In the end, I did not have the fence built because of city permitting restraints (they required the fence be built higher than would work in the given space). However, the reason for writing this review is to share that Ron was the consummate professional throughout the entire process. In the planning process, he was creative and intelligent . . .bringing up tissues that I never thought about. His proposal was professional, detailed, and the pricing was fair. He went above and beyond in researching details with the city. And throughout the process, he was straightforward and easy to work with. Despite the fact that I wasn't able to retain Ron for this project, my experience was that he is the kind of professional that all contractors should aspire to be.

Ron Brandt is truly a metal artist, but was willing to repair my very basic metal chair, thus saving it from the landfill! I was in no hurry, but he had it fixed quickly, including paint touch-up! I am very pleased.

It was a pleasure to work with Ron. He was attentive and professional, and asked questions and provided advice when it was appropriate. He went out of his way to deliver the finished piece when I was held up at work and couldn't pick it up. The piece itself was perfect. It was cut to exactly the dimensions specified and the material (which we had not previewed) was perfect. Edges were smooth, and our contractor - who did the installation - appreciated the properly sized screw holes and the protective cover on the visible side. I would use Ron's services again - in fact I am going to for our next project.

This is the second time I've worked with Ron. Previously, he helped me design and fabricate a stand for a portable electronic scoreboard, a product that my company sells. We needed Ron again since we have a new, larger scoreboard that required modifications to the original design. Ron worked on a new design and finished 6 stands on schedule so they could be used at the Collegiate Sand Volleyball National Championships. The final project cost was on budget. Everyone was happy with the product, including myself, and I would not hesitate to work with Ron in the future.

A few poles of my metal fence for the swimming pool are rusted on the connection part to the base. Ron did a thorough inspection for all the poles and found a few more potential problematic spots. He explained in detail about his recommended solution in email with a photo and on phone. After I OKed his solution, he worked with team did an excellent job on implementing his plan. Ron even went extra miles to fix a pole without charge. In order to find a matching paint, Ron went to several stores and offered me coming back to repaint the poles if I am not satisfied with the color. What a great contractor! Two thumbs up.

Fantastic! We did everything by phone and email, which meant the fastest possible turnaround with the least hassle for me. Ron picked up the piece from our home and returned it when finished, super-convenient. I initially asked him to simply redo the welds, but he went beyond and added structural pieces to essentially insure they would never fail again. And on his own initiative, he located a color-match for the finish and the final result looks great. Very pleased with the work, and would gladly contact RB Welding again.

After two to three weeks he decided not to do the job.
Description of Work: I wanted an estamate to fab. and pool cover lid. He came over and looked at the job and came up with some ideas. He told me that he was not licensed and would have someone else install the unit once he made it. Not sure what happened, but he told me that he could not do it because the price of installing it was more the the price of making it. He said it was not legal to do that. Did not make any sence to me , but I said okay. So for now on , I will only talk to licensed people.

Response from RB Ornamental Metal Services
I visited [member name removed] residence and discussed design ideas for his pool project at no expense to him. In the process, I explained that I am working diligently toward my license and need a few more months of experience as a pre-requisite. (Until that time, state law requires that all projects are less than $500.) I declined to bid on this job on this basis. This is very simple - [member name removed] project would have cost multiple times this amount and at this time I am not permitted to accept it. I have MANY satisfied customers I have done work for. Sorry [member name removed]. I wish you luck in your project.

It was a pleasure to work with Ron during the planning phase of the project. He was knowledgeable and worked closely with us to fine tune the design of the railing. His price quote was reasonable, and he was very eager to do this work for us. The contract was signed at the end of October with the clear understanding that the work had to be finished before Christmas. Ron assured us that this would be "no problem", and his goal would be to get it done before Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, that is not how things turned out. Despite our best efforts to help him (provide access to the house on many weekends on his schedule because he only had help available during weekends, park a car outside so that he could use the garage for his materials and not be affected by bad weather, help with carrying heavy pieces and other tasks) the progress was very slow. Ron missed the Christmas deadline, and subsequently promised completion dates as well. Furthermore, we became increasingly worried about the quality of his work that in our opinion did not meet the "high quality and standard of workmanship" that Ron had promised. It appeared that he did not have the appropriate tools available, and spent a significant amount of time figuring out how to fabricate the necessary pieces, often resulting in the need to redo work. In particular, the section that follows the circular stairs was giving him a lot of trouble. Even after several attempts, he had not been able to find a way to properly bend the bars for that section. At the end of February, which was 17 weeks after the signing of the contract, which specified that the project would take "approximately 4 to 6 weeks", Ron asked for a progress payment that according to the contract was not due until completion of the project. In our estimation, completion of the project was still at least 4 to 6 weeks away. Ron refused to continue the work until we made this payment. At this point, and after consulting an attorney, we terminated the contract due to "breach of contract" on his part and started to look for another contractor to finish the work. Fortunately, we were able to find a very capable and understanding licensed contractor, who was willing to finish the project and repair some of the most severe problems with Ron's work. This took another 2 months, and significantly increased the cost of the project. But fortunately the second contractor was able to fabricate the most challenging part of the railing in outstanding quality and aesthetics. Unfortunately, Ron felt that he had not been appropriately compensated for his work. In our estimation, the percentage of the total contract amount we had paid him exceeded the percentage of work completed. Meanwhile, we have also learned that it is illegal for an unlicensed person to perform contracting work on any project valued at $500 or more in labor and materials. According to the California Contractors State Licensing Board, RB Welding Services does not hold a contractor's license. The disagreement has not yet been settled. RB Welding Services had also done another project for me, which was a stainless steel collar for a mailbox post. I've been very happy with the work Ron did for that job. I feel that RB Welding Services is a fine choice for small welding and metal fabrication jobs. But Ron does not have the experience, tools, and resources to successfully handle larger and more complex multi-week jobs.
Description of Work: We contacted RB Welding Services to replace the existing indoor hand railing in our house with a more contemporary design based on drawings that we provided. The existing oak handrail was reused (refinished by a different contractor). The wood posts and staves were removed and replaced with steel posts, steel horizontal bars, and decorative steel circles. All metal surfaces were powder coated.

WOW! I am pleased with the custom handrail RB Welding built and installed in the garage. We needed a reliable handrail next to a three-step entryway. The spacing of the steps meant that the angle of the handrail would need to be a custom project. When Ron expressed that this would be "no problem" I knew that I had found the *BEST* provider for this project. We initially meet to discuss the requirements and expectations of this project. He came back with design and material suggestions. I was impressed by his quick response and design recommendations. With a few days, he brought over the handrail to confirm the design and measurements. I was impressed by the timing! He committed to return the next day to install the handrail. He arrived at the agreed time and installed the handrail. I can't believe that I waited so long to have this handrail installed. My wife continues to comment how useful the handrail is for her. As an engineer, I appreciate the time, thought and engineering details that went into this project. Many thanks!! B Lerch

I contacted Ron to inquire about building and installing a handrail. The objective was to provide a sturdy handrail by the patio door to make it convenient and easy for my elderly mother to safely enter/exit this doorway. Ron was quick to provide us with design and material options. He was knowledgeable and professional. Best of all, my mother is thrilled with the handrail. She now accesses the garden more frequently because there is a secure handrail in place. Thanks! G Young

We found that RB Welding Services was very professional and courteous. The owner responded in a timely manner and took the time to explain what was going to be done and the reason why. We felt confident that he would do a great quality repair job for us. Unfortunately, due to a change of plans, we did not have RB Welding Services repair our gate but, we surely will contact him in the future should we need another welding job. I am happy to refer him to others that need his services.

My company sells a portable electronic scoreboard and we wanted to offer a stand that could be used on either a table top or gymnasium floor. I needed a prototype that could be used later for higher volume production and that's why I turned to Ron. Through phone calls and emails Ron and I scoped out the project. I had a working model of the stand that Ron used as a starting point but along the process he offered many suggestions on how to improve the design. The final result was 8 prototypes that I could use to get feedback from customers before going into production. I was very happy with my experience working with Ron. His turnaround time was very good (this was a rush job) and so was his communication. I would definitely use his services in the future.

Description of Work: I contacted Ron to ask if he would weld a broken leg from a patio table, which snapped off during our move. I told him it was cast iron. Ron fabricated a collar for the bottom part of a wooden mailbox post. He used heavy gauge stainless steel, matching the material from which our mailbox was fabricated. He also carefully matched the grain of the mailbox. The collar consists of 2 U shaped braces around the wood post, secured with stainless steel lag bolts, again matching the ones used for the mailbox. The collar looks great and protects the post from damage done by the gardener, running the lawn mower into the post. Ron handled this small project professionally and completed it only a few days after I asked for a quote. The price was reasonable and I'm pleased with the result. I would hire Ron again for a similar project.
