Called Bell Brothers July 19th for a quote. Had to call between 8:00 and 10:00 AM to get a $50.00 gift card for calling for a quote (Coupon add was in the Sacramento Bee). Bob Palmer from Bell Brothers came out the following Monday and was very nice. After looking everything over he asked me what range of prices I was looking at. I showed him a quote from another vendor and he told me it was a very aggressive price but they would talk with other company personnel to see if they could match. He was going to let me know the following week. It was over a month. No quote was ever received. No call if they could match the price No $50.00 gift card was ever received. Rob, you seem like a nice guy, but you really let me down.
Description of Work: Requested a quote for a new air conditioning system, but I never received it.

They were very professional. They were right on it, and I felt they got it done in a very timely manner, although I think my house took longer to do than others. They were very neat, they wore shoe covers every time they came in the house. They did have a problem getting my old heater out, because of eaves of my roof. They had to cut a hole in my bedroom ceiling. They patched it up, but still had to send another guy out to patch the drywall (?). I feel they really earned their money, as they had to spend so long at my house. The guy that did fixed my patch up, did a great job..he wanted to know if I had the paint to paint over the patch once he was done. I told him not to worry, I was going to paint soon anyway. But, after he finished it looked so good that you cannot even see the patch unless you look really hard. And the guys that put the heater/ac were so nice. They said they would be there at 7am, and they were, and when I got home at 6pm they were just finishing up later that usual - I'm sure - because of my problem eaves. Even so, Hans (so handsome, even for an old lady like me) stayed to show show me what they had done and walked me through programming the thermostat. I thought that was great since they had such a long hard day at my house already - Hans was still willing to stay on a Friday nigh tand show me everything. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!
Description of Work: My air conditioner went out on probably the hottest week we've had this year. My brother told me to call BELL BROTHERS, because his neighbor had used them and were very happy with the results. I called them on a Wednesday, they came out, I signed the contract and they put the air conditioner in on Friday. I was shocked, and thrilled that it happened so quickly.

We signed up for the Bell Bros routine maintenance program and they have been calling to remind me to have their technicians come out to service our furnace for weeks. However, I've been less than prompt in calling them back but I appreciate the reminder calls from their pleasant staff. Philip R. came out to do our routine furnace service. He was very prompt and did a great and thorough job. The best part of having the routine maintenance is that the technician helps me change out all the filters so I don't have to get on a ladder and do it myself! The technicians have always been very helpful with their information about our system and how to make it run more efficiently. I have piece of mind that with routine maintenance with Bell Bros, my furnace and air conditioners will continue to run well! To anyone who needs air conditioner or furnace servicing, I would highly recommend Bell Bros!

I wouldn't use this company again only for the fact that the money that you paid for the diagnostic fee does go towards the repair service. Other companies do.
Description of Work: The first person that came out was truthful that it wasn't his trade and he wasn't trained for heating and air. Unfortunately, he damaged our unit further than it was. Bell Bros. did send out another person upon my request. I said I wasn't going to pay more and I didn't.

I thought they did a great job for the price. They provided a warranty with their units and I am confident that they will back up their work and honor their contract for as long as we own our home. The tech who returned to install the new part said the system would probably be fine for at least a few years. The first tech had tried to talk us into a replacement system for "$10,000 to $15,000". Really? for a 2200sq ft single story house? I don't think so! He must have smelled a fat commission check. I was disappointed because of the advertising on the radio about how much integrity they have and how they won't try to sell you a new system if you don't need it.

Estimate giving promptly. Area evaluated by salesman who had solid knowledge of equipment and the pros and cons of installation.Indepth evaluation of home and what systems would work or not work. Display of licenses and credentials. When the installation crew initially could not figure out how to put a deviation in the duct system they came back out and did it. Explanation of how the system would work was thorough. Very prompt in all appointments and followups.

Called Bell Brothers on Friday and they were able to send someone out the next day. They informed me of the $79 service fee which I agreed to. The tech arrived on time as promised and ended up recommending a new digital thermostat which was almost $300. He also went up on the roof and found a cracked heat exchanger for an estimated $1100 more. That was way more than I was prepared to spend at the moment, especially without getting competing bids. The tech was nice and professional but I didn't like the fact that they charge $79 just to come out and don't even credit it towards the repair as is common practice in many companies. Basically I spent $79 to get a quote which many other companies will give for free.

Where do I start? The sales person (technician) who came out to do our inspection seemed very knowledgeable and professional and we were initially happy. We were sold a 5 ton A/C which was supposed to be energy efficient and thus qualify for PG&E rebate. After install we noticed that new system didn't seem to cool any better or faster than old. By coincidence our neighbors had Bell Brothers out the same week and they told us in a casual conversation that their technician had told them that the intake hole needed to be larger because it wasn't big enough for the 4 ton A/C there were getting. Our intake was the exact same size and we were sold a 5 ton system! Called Bell Brothers and they admitted it was a mistake, basically we were only getting 3 tons out of a 5 ton unit.. A different technician came out and said that the duct work would need to be redone too, that merely making the intake larger would not work and we'd still only be getting 3 tons. So the workers come out to make the changes and all they had on the worker order was to make the intake larger, they had no clue about needing to redo duct work. Once again had to call Bell Brothers and once again they admitted their mistake. Bell Brothers had to order parts and a week later we're still waiting. The last straw was when we found out that the A/C unit sold to us was NOT an energy efficient unit. Built into the price the sales technician gave us was a $300 rebate from PG&E and a $1500 Federal tax credit (when I say "built into the price" I don't mean they subtracted those costs out of their own pocket, I mean that she included this to show what our ultimate cost would be after rebates). But she sold us a 13 seer unit which didn't qualify for either rebate! Not only that but my husband and I told her one of the main reasons we were replacing our old air conditioner was to get a more efficient air conditioner. We specifically told her we wanted one with an Energy Star rating. What she sold us was not an Energy Star rated A/C. During all of this we were calling her and she'd never return our calls. She had also promised to show up and check on the work the crew did installed the system...she never showed up or even called. We are having Bell Brothers come in to rip out the system and we'll be contacting Buckley Parnell instead.

I purchased a bank owned property w/ the original HVAC unit (30 years old). I knew it has exceeded it's life expectancy and needs to be replaced. However it was important for me to get the air ducts in the house cleaned first. The place was filthy and I didn't want to imagine the dust, mold, and god knows what else that maybe trapped in the air ducts. I contacted Bell Bros Heating after reviewing their website about air duct cleaning (http://www.bellbroshvac.com/webapp/GetPage/Should_You_Have_the_Air_Ducts_in_Your_Home_Cleaned?pid=75&mid=24504) I spoke w/ the customer service representative and requested for an estimate on getting the air ducts cleaned at my new house. She suggested that one of their inspector will come out to inspect the HVAC system and air ducts and make the appropriate recommendation. The inspection fee was $87. I explained to the inspector exactly what I wanted. I know that the HVAC unit is on its last leg and it needs to be replaced. However for right now, I would like to air ducts cleaned. The inspector was very clean cut, very professional and did the inspection. He also cleaned the a/c unit and made some adjustment according to him. However he told me that his company no longer does air duct cleaning? As you can imagine I was pretty upset. I reluctantly gave him the $87 but told him that I will contact his company to file a complaint. I spoke with the company's call center manager (Ms. Celeste Schulz) and expressed my anger and frustration. I just spend $87 on service I didn't request for. I expressed that their company's website was misleading and their customer service rep was misinformed. She should not have scheduled me for a HVAC unit inspection when I asked to get an estimate for an air duct cleaning. The bottom line is that I took the day off from work to get things done at our new house and spend time and money on a service I didn't need at this time. Ms. Schulz was apologetic and acknowledged the mistakes made by her staff. Actually I was pleasantly surprised by her responsiveness. I expected them to give me the run around and she didn't. She promptly refunded the $87 and sent me a very nice letter of apology. She also sent me a $25 visa gift card for my trouble. Bottom line: I realized that good help is hard to get and employees do make mistakes. This company owned up to their mistake and stated that they will make improvements their staff training so this does not happen again. I am impressed. This company actually has integrity and character. I would call them when I am ready to replace my outdated HVAC unit. J Choi, Elk Grove, CA

We obtained three estimates for the replacement of our HVAC unit, and chose Bell Brothers based on a. their professionalism b. our neighbor recommended them and c. their price was competitive. The installation appeared to go well, however our electricity bills continued to remain high, and the "comfort" level inside the house didn't appear to be any different than before we replaced the unit. In fact, it was worse. We called Bell Brothers about the comfort issue i.e. our ducts appeared to be blowing cold air when the heat first came on. They sent a technician out immediately. Unfortunately, the problem didn't go away. We called again, and again, they sent another crew out immediately. The next crew subsequently found that some work hadn't been completed correctly during the original installation. Fortunately, Bell Brothers corrected the problem and our electricity bills came down to a reasonable level. Kudos to Bell Brothers for their prompt response to our concerns, their willingness and persistence to talk to us, and reimbursing us for the months when our electricity bills exceeded what we had expected. While the original installation was not superior, their customer service after the fact was. I would recommend them in the future.

I feel the services were outstanding once the technician arrived. I originally was scheduled between 1:00 and 3:00, however at ~10:30 a representative called to ask if the technician could come early. I had planned to go out and return before 1:00, but agreed to wait for the technician instead. At 12:30 they called back to say the technician was delayed and would arrive at ~1:00. This was frustrating since I could have been out running errands instead of waiting. However, once the technician arrived, the service was great and very professional. My A/C was working within an hour and he completely checked the system. I feel the service was adequate for what I was charged.
Description of Work: A/C not cooling the house. The technician checked the entire system and determined a circuit was bad in the compressor unit.

Two man team jumped in and got the job done in 2 days (12 hrs each day). This should probably be scheduled over three days given the size of the installation. On the second day when they figured they needed more help four other people showed up to help (6 total). Inspecting their work after showed where there were some sloppy work just to get the job done. For instance the condensate line was tossed into the attic space and pinched, so the water tank could not empty. The water pump in one of the furnaces was not primed and the breather line was too short. Another technician came out the next day and fixed all the errors that I pointed out to him. Every employee I've met has been very competent and professional. I would have given them an A if the company gave these guys enough time to do the job right the first time. Instead they rushed at the end, got sloppy and had to send someone out the next day to clean up the mistakes. The systems have been running for 6 weeks with no further issues.

I will not recommend them to anyone else. The serviceman did his job. I sincerely feel that he did his job, but he wanted to up sale us. The cost was $79.95 for the diagnosis of the problem. The man was not very happy when I told him that I did not want the work done, so he cleaned up his mess and then proceeded to try to up sale me with a service plan.
