Everything went well. The demeanor and professionalism of the service person was excellent. He also encouraged me to watch him while he worked and to ask any questions alonf the way. He provided me with all of the options so that i could determine what I wanted him to do and how much I wanted to pay at the time. He was also kid freindly; I have a 5 and 1 year old.
Description of Work: Provided new parts for our outside AC unit and tuned everything up.

They quoted $600 to replace an igniter, which I found online for $70. Took 20 minutes to install with no experience in HVAC, but on top of it, it wasn't even the issue to begin with. It was a spiderweb caught up in the electrode that lights the pilot. If they would have diagnosed correctly then it would have been a 5 minute job.

When I called, the rep couldn't (or wouldn't) answer any of my questions. Sounded bored or like he was reading from a script. When I asked about getting a quote, was told they charge $85 to come out and evaluate a system. Not impressed.

This was amazingly painless. The crew showed up on time every day, called us when they were leaving with a recap of what had been completed and the plan for the following day. My house never showed the effects of the project - no debris, no damage to any personal items ... I was completely impressed by the professionalism of the crews and the care they took with my house.
Description of Work: Bell Brothers installed a complete new HVAC system for my house and removed the original that was installed under the house. This included all new registers in the ceilings (instead of the floor) and the addition of more efficient air draws.

Semi-annual Service Inspection with modified repair work
Description of Work: Great service from a great company! During regular cleaning and inspection service, technician found loose ducting and repaired it in a short amount of time. Have been using bell for tuneups the last few years and have been very happy with them. Unfortunately I have recently had an experience that changed my opinion. I have a circuit board out in my furnace and the quote to fix was over $800. I decided to get a second opinion and was surprised to find out others are willing to replace the circuit board which bell is quoting at $750 for its actual cost of $80 (same Exact Circuit Board I memorized the model number when the bell guy showed it to me 50A55-843 WHITE RODGERS UNIVERSAL). I'm all for companies making a profit but come on Bell quoting me over $750 for something that costs $80, that's highway robbery, you should be ashamed of yourselves, people like myself trust you to fix things at a fair price, you didn't do that so you have lost my business. One other thing if you had told me $300 or $400 I would have paid and not even thought about it, even knowing the circuit board was only $80 and you made $320 I would have been OK with that. But $800 plus dollars to install and $80 board that would probably take at most a half hour, that's why I'm taking the time to write this review. My advice to others would be to ask for the part number that is being replaced and do a quick Google search for what the actual cost is. If you don't believe me put the part number above into amazon:-)
Description of Work: Heater was not working without having to pull on a set of wires that went to a circuit board. Asked Bell Brothers to come out to get an estimate, the $79 was explained as a dispatch charge.

The worker that came out was very nice and professional. He took care of things I needed. The filter for the furnace was put in improperly. I could tell the quality of the filter was not very good either. It seemed like it was cut out with some scissors. It did not fit properly and had to be kind of smashed down to get it to fit on the track. Their customer service was not very good first of all. The woman, Melissa, I spoke with did not seem to care about my problems or issues I had. They said they would charge me an $80 dispatch fee just to come out and look at it. They also denied putting in the filter in th first place. The professionalism of what has happened recently regarding this fitler has been very poor. Bell Brothers later responded very well to me. They sent another technician, Ian Hutton, who was clean, professional, and punctual. He and the company made things right. They did a super duper job for no charge.

The service technician, Ryan, was prompt, courteous and fastidious in using shoe covers each time he entered the house, even though I told him it wasn't necessary. Since I have just recently purchased the property I was unfamiliar with the systems and Ryan was extremely helpful in explaining to me the systems I have and also showed me how to clean/maintain the permanent furnace filters in the future. He was thorough and clear in explaining what he would be doing in the tune-up service. He also answered questions I had about the air conditioning systems, even though he was not there to provide any service on the units. I will definitely consider renewing the membership contract with Bell Brothers when the current contract expires.
Description of Work: Did tune-ups on two heating systems which were covered under a membership contract that transferred to me from the previous owner of the homes I recently purchased. The property has a primary residence and a secondary residence each having their separate heating/air systems.

I was taking a shower when I noticed the water would only get luke-warm. I immediately thought, "Doggone it! My water heater isn't working!" And I was right, it was not lit. So, I followed every step to re-light the pilot light, but no matter how many times I tried, the water heater would not light. It was during this time that I thought, "This sucks." Normally, I would at least attempt to fix these types of things myself, but I was crunched for time with a work deadline and holidays coming up, so I just called Bell Bros. the next morning. They are very responsive and stay in communication. Mark immediately knew what the problem was and fixed it without a hitch. I don't know exactly the going rates for this type of work and Bell Bros. rates seem higher than others, but I it's worth it, for quick, responsive, worry-free, and hassle-free repairs.

Went very well. They came right on time with all the necessary equipment. They ripped out the old heater and air conditioner and hauled it away within an hour. The installation was excellent with all new coverings and plugs where needed. They left the garage cleaner than before. The city inspection found no faults and said they did an excellent job.
Description of Work: They came out to perform a routine checkup on the heater. Found cracks in heat exchange. The heater is 16 years old and a replacement for that part brought no guarentees that it be much better. I replaced the heater and air conditioner instead. They arlso replaced severeal registers in the high ceilings that has made a huge difference.

Cory our technician arrived at the appointed time. We explained what was happening, and Cory set to work diagnosing the issue. He came to us with the diagnoses, and the cost for the repair. He also stated that he could fix it during the same appointment, and we gave him to approval. Cory made the repair and the system came back on-line, and worked as good as new.
Description of Work: Had an issue with the A/C Unit. Bell Brothers was very prompt on setting an appointment. Within 3 days the technician (Cory) arrived. He checked out the system, diagnosed the problem and was able to fix it during the same appointment. We are very pleased with the quality of service, professionalism of Cory our technician, and the overall quality of the company.

Overall, the job went 'okay'. I think that they tried to get everything right, but they could have tried a bit harder to make sure they'd get everything right. The City of Sacramento Inspector had to write them up for a violation, but Bell Brothers sent someone out to correct the violation, and the City Inspector passed everything on the second visit.
Description of Work: Bell Brothers removed my original equipment and installed a new heating and central air system in my home. I bought this house new in 1988. They had to enlarge my two air returns because the original returns were not large enough to move enough air through the system. It took them a few days to complete the job, but overall, I'm satisfied with their work. I feel that they were a bit expensive (even considering the modifications they had to make), and there were a few details that they got wrong, but did correct, with regard to the SMUD rebate and the Angie's List discount.

I just wanted the technician to replace the igniter. He called in a second technician to verify his opinion that there are cracks in the heat exchanger and it's dangerous to operate. I felt like I was being double teamed and high pressured to buy a new system. He finally agreed to replace the igniter only if I would sign a liability waiver for their company. This was April and I probably ran the heater for 2 weeks or so before it got too warm to use it any more. In October, I turned the heater on and it didn't work. I called PG&E. They sent out their inspector/technician. He inspected my heater and said it is NOT dangerous and does not need to be replaced. He said the igniter is burned out again. I called Bell Brothers and they agreed the part is still under warranty. They sent over their technician and he told me the igniter IS NOT burned out and that I need a new heat exchanger for $1,187 worth of labor. I called Comfort Master, a very excellent heater repair company recommended by a friend. The repairman said it IS the igniter that's burned out and he replaced it for $154. He also said my heater is NOTt dangerous. This was a couple of weeks ago and my heater has been working fine ever since. I called Bell Brothers a week ago to ask for reimbursement since the part was under warranty, but so far no refund. I will be reporting them to the BBB if they don't reimburse me for the igniter. I would not let this company back into my house and can't recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: My heater wasn't working. I called Bell Brothers to do an inspection and fix the problem. He said the igniter needed to be replaced, but that I had cracks in my heat exchanger and I really need a new system. He said it's too dangerous to fix it.

Over a year ago, I was in dire need of a new HVAC unit. Bell Brothers came over, did extensive work on my existing unit, swallowed the costs themselves, in essence making a free house call. They did, with reluctance, assist me in the selection of a new unit. My needs were very custom, and took much time to convey. They drew up the plans, the finances, performed the install in 48 hours, then worked with me nonstop to make sure that any of my followup concerns were met. I specifically highly recommend their customer support structure as it leads to a very kind, generous and patient person named David H. Any department led by this individual will be an industry leader in customer service. It all starts from the top, but it leads to any and everyone working with Dave. I hope this was helpful. I truly am the most difficult customer in the world to please, and Bell Brothers succeeded in making me very happy.
Description of Work: I highly recommend Bell Brothers Heating and Air; let me tell you why. Our family, and home conditions really required a personal, custom touch. David, the head of customer service, made sure that a bottomless list of personal needs were met. Bell Brothers performed a custom installation of a pretty incredible product. They were professional, non-intrusive, clean and kind in their followup. Did I forget to say that my family is extremely hard to please? Well, practically no one could ever come out of a sales or service call with me without a headache. But Bell Brothers handled me like Mother Teresa would have. I cannot stress this enough. No need was too small to spend time on, and no adjustment was too large for them to absorb in order to make the customer happy. They have positioned themselves to handle anything with grace and perfect customer service. Again, I would recommend Bell Brothers to anyone. If they can satisfy the needs and quirks of me and my family, they can handle anything. Their service has no parallel in the industry. They really are the top. If you can find the best, you need to use them; don't risk working with an unproven contractor/vendor/provider. Bell Brothers has proven themselves; they've run the gauntlet with people like me.
