Thank you for your positive review, we do appreciate your business. We are happy that you had a positive experience. Contact Lloyd at 562-423-7901 for your future flooring needs.
We dealt with Lloyd Tanner who was very helpful in guiding us through different types of flooring and recommending a type best for us (family with kids, a pool, etc.). Lloyd came out to see us at our house, and also kept the store open late in order to accomodate our visit. He was also very flexible in changing installation dates several times due to some scheduling problems we had. Installation went well and quickly. Lloyd has confirmed he will come out to follow-up job and ensure our satisfaction with it.

In the store the salesman, Ron, was very clear and helpful. He came out to our house himself the next day to take measurements and arrived on time. We were able to schedule installation for 2 days later and it went off without a hitch.

Finally we checked Angie's List and found Bixby Plaza Carpets had a high rating. We checked our carpet options with Lloyd who treated us very professionally and gave us lots of options. We were immediately pleased with the experience after spending 3-4 weeks making no progress with the previous company. Bixby Plaza Carpets gave us a prompt, complete estimate and did an extremely professional estimate in our 4 bedroom 2 story house with lots of stairs. The day before installation we even had to delay the installation by 4 days due to a delay in our painter completing their job. Bixby Plaza Carpets was polite and courteous and accommodated our delay with no problem. We would recommend them to anyone!
Description of Work: Our home was damaged in a fire and the general contractor referred us to a carpeting company in Covina. We live in Long Beach and it was very inconvenient to deal with the company. Since we were referred by the insurance company / contractor the owner of the carpet company believed that he was going to get our business regardless of how we were treated. Our budget was very high because the carpet that the insurance company was replacing was very good quality. We found that the carpet company in Covina continued to offer us low grade carpeting continually.

They were very professional and I was very pleased with all of it, but I selected a different provider. I didn't choose them because of pricing and the availability of a superior product. I am a pretty picky person and I would consider using them in the future.

Overall, the work was done as scheduled and the end result is that everything looks great! This was not done on the cheap but what we paid was worth the end result. However, I wish I had been forewarned as to how much dust and crap the work would create in order to have scheduled the work days better, to have been able to make arrangements to not live in the house in between the 2 consecutive days the work was done and to have arranged to have a cleaning company come in the next AM after the job had been totally done. The baseboards in my single storey home built in the mid 70s had a variety of different widths. We used the fact we were replacing the carpets to upgrade the baseboards. Bixby rec'd using GoodWood and Bixby's 10% discount on Cerritos Ave across from the Los Alamitos High School. Bought and paid for the baseboards but had Bixby pick up the order and bring it to the home when they came to do the work a few wks later. I paid the 2 guys directly via personal check. They are Bixby workers that do flooring installation. When Mgr Russ Leeman came out to take measurements for the carpets I had him also give me a written fee to have 2 of his flooring guys handle the baseboards as it was not something my spouse or I could or would want to do. Didn't want the hassle of hiring someone to do that job for us. Preferred to have company employees to take the burden of licensure, bond status and Worker's Comp liability ins off of us and left with Bixby. I knew exactly what the fee was for Jose and Moises to remove all the old baseboards + cut/paint/install new baseboards house wide. It took the 2 of them the entire day to do this work as every room in the house incl the closets had old baseboards. The dust was plentiful and they did Not vacuum anything. All they did was sweep the old carpets somewhat to get some of the bits removed. My hubby and I spent considerable time that Fri night cleaning up the tile floor and I swept all the tile floors and the carpeted area in the master bedroom, leaving everything else alone. As it was late Nov and the temps were in the low 40s at night we did have the furnace on during the night (but off, of course, when the work was being done). I have allergies and lung scarring and found the dust really bothered me, esp when I woke up the next AM. Our furnace is high efficiency with a really good air filter but I know it stirred up and recirculated it all. Had no idea what to expect re: how much dust and wooden bits there would be. If you are sensitive to dust d/t any respiratory issue or allergy I would suggest sleeping elsewhere if you have something like this done. On the Sat we had 2 Lead journeyman arrive early to rip out the old carpets and pad. We were told by Russ this was a really good thing as these 2 men were senior workers in the company and had a Lot of experience. They did a good job laying the new carpeting with no seams seen anywhere, thankfully. This too took all day. The 2 of them came in 1 truck with the huge carpet roll and rolls of the upgraded pad we had elected to have. One of the men did call us and asked us to stop and get them something to eat late afternoon that didn't cost more than $10, apparently all the cash they had on hand. I didn't understand why one didn't leave with the truck to get their own preferred food but... we did it and didn't accept their money as payment. They too did NO VACUUMING, they just swept at the new carpet and that was it. While the new carpet looked great, it took us considerable time to re-sweep all the carpeted areas as there were carpet bits everywhere. Given the amount not to mention the size of all the carpet bits this is NOT something you would want to use your regualr vacuum for. Thought about using our own Shop-Vac but my hubby decided he didn't want to clog it up. The guys also managed to spill a bit of coffee + and tracked in what looked like dirt/grease onto my white ceramic tile floors which took considerable effort on my part to remove. While very pleased overall with the work done, the clean up left something to be desired. As I faced knee surgery 1 wk later and had difficulty bending down and could not kneel + I have neck and back problems, I strongly recommend having this work completed on a week day so that you can hire a cleaning company to come out to wash the walls, floors and re-vacuum the carpets the very next day. I did set this up but didn't appreciate how much crap and dust there would be, As the work was done on the Friday and Sat immediately after the US Thanksgiving I couldn't get anyone out to the house to clean up for me til 3 days later. Be smart and plan on the time and elbow grease it literally takes to get your residence ready. We had to get everything up off the closet floors, emptied out all the dresser and cabinet drawers and removed all the breakables in rooms where the work was done. That in itself takes a LOT of time to do. It did give me a reason to get rid of a Lot of stuff to my husband's delight. The Bixby guys did move the furniture and there was at least no additional charge for that. My husband helped them with a custom cut work unit in one of our rooms that is very heavy. If you have pets, get them out of the house and keep them out til everything is done, the place is cleaned up and aired. We have 2 parrots and they were boarded for the duration. As one has a nasal allergy, the clean up in particular was critical as there was a need to re-sweep repeatedly to get the worst of the dust and most of the bits. The semi gloss paint that had a primer in it ( 1 gallon Behr brand paint from Home D, folks, which we paid for and had here at the house prior to the start of the job)used on the baseboards we selected did have an odor even after having the doors and windows open all day when that was done. Birds are highly sensitive to fumes. We were warned there would probably be a need to have the guys come back out to touch up the baseboards after the new carpet was installed. They were right. Unfortunately, that didn't happen for another week after the baseboards were done which in turn extended the length of time and cost of having to board the 2 parrots. I called Russ on Monday and re-called him Tues to find out when anyone would be out to do the touch up-- Sat of the following week after the work had been done was the only date I was offered. I would recommend this company but with the caveat re: the need for multiple cleanings, an awareness of the amount of dust and crap both jobs created and the pitfall of having the job 100% completed on a weekend day. We agreed to the dates the work was done but didn't have an appreciation for what it was like living in and with it as well. I would strongly suggest Bixby forewarn clients re: the cleaning aspect in particular so people have an opportunity to set up to have the work completed on a week day + have the cleaning done on the day immediately after work completion. Anyone with allergies or respiratory conditions like asthma, COPD (bronchitis, emphysema) would be better off living away from the house til the work is 100% done and a good cleaning has occured. Anyone with pets also needs to factor in the need to remove them from the residence while the work is being done; if the pets are also suspectible to dust or odors then they should be removed from the home entirely until all is done and a thorough cleaning has happened.
Description of Work: This was a 2 part service done over 2 consecutive days- the Friday and Sat. immediately following Thanksgiving 2010. I had old basebaords ripped out and new baseboards cut/painted and installed throughout the house On the following day I had the old pad and all the old carpets house wide replaced.

I was happy with the whole experience. The sales person listened to what I wanted and pointed me in the right direction. He did not try to upsale me. Everyone in the store was knowledgeable and professional. Two different people came out to measure and much care was given to planning how the carpet would be installed. Everything about my house is special needs and they took time and effort to work with the oddities and to find appropriate fixes: ramps to uneven doorways, special molding for transitions. The installers were great. They worked hard (so hard) and were polite. My only suggestion is that the installers could have asked me how I wanted the cables run under the carpet. I know they put them where they were when they got here, but I had done things as a temporary fix until I got new carpet and would have liked them to be done differently on this install. One of the installers, did come back at my request to fix it.

Overall, very well. The guys they used were clearly very experienced. Only follow up issue was getting a threshold between tile and wood floor in dining room.
Description of Work: I visited the showroom and the salesman recommended a tile and came to my home so I could see the colors in place. He gave me an estimate on the spot and made calls to get an install date. Within a week they installed porcelain slate looking tile on kitchen floor and into bathroom. Also installed a matching small tile for back splash.

They did a great job, I cannot see where they joined the carpet. They loaded all of the old pad and carpet on their truck. The floor was completely cleaned before the new pad and carpet was installed. Overall, they were very professional and replaced the furniture before leaving.
Description of Work: I called for an estimate on Thursday morning (8/20), he said he would be over in the afternoon. I told him I wanted to get the carpet installed before the the hot weather started, and he said he would be over in the morning. He arrived when he said he would, gave me an estimate after I reviewed the samples of the carpet. He made a couple of calls and said he could install the carpet Saturday afternoon. The installers arrived when he said they would, removed the old carpet and pad. They cleaned up and installed a new pad and carpet in the living room, dining room and hallway.

The installation team was very organized and professional. They clearly knew what they were doing. They did the majority of the work in one day, but did spend most of the second day completing the flooring, installing the baseboard work, caulking the baseboards and handling any touch up and cleanup required. I was very pleased with the work. I am sure I could have had the work done for less, but the quality of the labor and ease of arrangements was worth it.
Description of Work: Company installed high end Wilsonart Red Estate wood laminate flooring in about 400 square feet that included my entry, living room and dining room. The cost worked out to be about $12 psf soup to nuts. This included removal of existing carpet and entry parquet, leveling the floor, installing the flooring and matching baseboards throughout.

Excellent job. Workers were experienced and skillful. Our desired material was not in stock, would take about 1 to 2 weeks to order. This is typical. Rep. did not try to switch my to a "faster" solution, but ordered as I directed. They installed on the agreed date, moved appliances out and back, and charged exactly per the written estimate.
