When I called Mr. DeYoung to inquire about his services, he was very professional. He was upfront about his rates and what I could expect from each level of his services. He arrived on time and wasted no time in getting started. He listened to our vague thoughts and worked easily with us to flesh them out. Within a couple of hours, he had produced a workable and understandable landscape plan for our yard. While the plan is not to scale, Mr. DeYoung detailed everything so completely that any landscape company will have no trouble bringing it to fruition. We were very pleased with his design and hope to have the work done very soon. We highly recommend his services.

Andy's part was easy because he is so good at conceptualizing what the yard will look like after all the landscaping work is completed. He spent only a few hours outside drawing up the plan. It wasn't to scale, but the landscaping contractor he recommended knew exactly what was to be done.

So far we've only had the hard scape plans completed. But the contractor said they were very easy to follow and we didn't have any surprises. I'm very happy, we decided to have a professional draw out the plans. It saved us a lot of headaches in the long run!

He came to the house, talked with us and drew up a beautiful design. We haven't had the work done yet, but it was exactly what we needed. Detailed, fast, and incorporating our ideas.

Andy was very quick to set up an appointment and when he was done, I was very happy with the design. I was so happy with his services that I just recommended him to a friend. I am still getting estimates for some of the work I'd like to be done and probably need to save money to implement the project, but I'm so happy with the design.

Andy DeYoung was great. He was informative, gave good suggestions and listened to what I had to say. I would use him again in the future.

We remodeled the exterior of our house and wanted to have a professional design a plan for our front yard. We had never hired a landscape architect before. Andy was very responsive over the phone, and he was able to fit us into his schedule fairly quickly. He came to our house, got an understanding of the types of plants we wanted, and went to work creating a plan. He pulled together a wonderful design within an hour/hour and a half. We were very pleased with his design and service.

Andy showed up on time and ready to start. We discussed a "Tuscan" theme and within a couple of hours we had a complete plan and layout for our front yard and entrance. He did an excellent job of interpreting what we were looking for and putting it into a plan. I highly recommend him, he works fast and efficiently.

Pleasantly surprised, I was contacted only after a week and a day with the final result. Andy was again very punctual to the closing discussion and provided a wide variety of vegetation to meet my requests. He did an excellent job in selecting many different plants and trees which I would have never chosen. Overall, he did an excellent job - under budget and quicker than promised! Now, I have clear specifications to give three landscape companies to get bids and compare apples to apples.

Great experiene from start to finish!

I was very pleased with the landscape design of Andy De Young. I had read the reviews in Angie's List and gave him a call. He came out the next week. My house is on a corner lot which is very rectangular. The front lawn area currently has many straight lines in the current design. I have lived in my home for forty years and could not see the possibilities that existed with landscape design. I knew I wanted curves versus the lines I now have. I told Mr De Young to draw what ever he saw artistically. I was very, very impressed with the beautiful graceful curves he had given the landscape drawing. Some of the curves intersected the new curved walkway he added. It is spectacular! I will use the landscape design this fall.

We liked his plans. We had gotten a couple other designs and we liked his the best. Everybody had kind of gotten a rough sketch of an idea and after we hired him he did a detailed plan. It flowed with our yard as is existed. He turned the plan around once we liked the concept and his price was rite.

I would recommend Andy DeYoung to anyone, and would quite happily work with him again.

He just did the design. He did excellent work.

Working with Andy was a unique experience. Soft-spoken, thoughtful and very knowledgeable about plants, hardscape, materials, etc. We walked our property with Andy, reviewed some books about styles we liked in landscape design and talked about maintenance, water, lighting, etc. for about an hour. Then, Andy heads outside with his clipboard for about another hour or so. To our amazement, he produced a detailed, professional, labeled (genus, specifics, cultivar) plan that included the hardscape and water feature we requested as well! Granted, our lot is small but nevertheless, without a drafting board, computer, etc. he produced a plan in hours. Andy said larger homes would require more drafting but for our house, his freehand skills are more than adequate. We are now out to bid and will have Andy come back to do the plant placement, etc. when the installation is ready to go.

It went very well. Andy called back promptly and showed up promptly on the day of the consultation. He made two drawings for us on the spot--one for each of the two problem areas--that I think will work out very well. It only took him about an hour. He is very courteous and a good listener, and has an obvious deep knowledge of plants and of design.

He's a super nice guy and he just knows a ton of stuff about plants. He's very mild mannered. He came over and looked at the yard then spent an hour drawing up a plan that was beautiful for the front. The back was more complicated, he measured and took pictures then came back a week later with a big plan. It was nice and more than we wanted, but it's okay because now we have a plan to work off of. We will do part of what he drew up for the back yard. He was a little expensive, but he was up front and it wasn't like it was a surprise. We agreed to pay it, but it kind of hurt to pay $750 to get a couple of drawings, but he does really good work so I guess it's okay. It's expensive, but not outrageous. I would recommend him if someone asked us.

We are extremely happy. We recieve frequent compliments on our landscaping.

The entire job took about 6 weeks to install (not including the pool) and Andy was here to make sure the right plants were installed and the plantings were installed properly so that we did not have any plats that did not make it due to poor irrigation or poor planting. All in all it was a dream and Andy was the best to work with (and so easy going). Cost listed includes cost of plants for our 1/2 acre back yard.
