He did wonderful work. He was very thorough and spent 3 hours going over everything. He gave us a very detailed estimate. He fixed everything. He is coming next week to do something else for me. He was very responsive and got right back to me. He sends you a bill on line. He is very organized. It is a small organization. His crew was great too. They were very polite and worked very hard. It took them a day and a half to do the whole thing. I was very happy.

 + -1 moreI originally called Dame Landscape to get a quote on repairing the broken water main, securing a loose hose bib, and reviewing an irrigation system that covers 2+ acres. Steve was prompt and professional in scheduling an estimate, and spent well over an hour reviewing our systems. Steve was so patient and thorough in going through our entire 20-station system and educating me in the process. After our meeting we decided to get a quote on retrofitting four of our sprinkler stations. Unfortunately at the time, I did not realize the time+labor that goes into retrofitting an irrigation system, so due to the cost we decided to leave the system as-is. I have since done some of the work on my own (definitely not up to par with Steve's work) and fully understand and appreciate the costs involved in working on irrigation systems! We did have Steve come to repair the water main and secure the hose bib. Steve was in and out in under an hour, and I am confident that I won't have any more leaks. Unless I hit another water main line, then I'll be calling Steve again! I would not hesitate to recommend Dame Landscape to my family, friends, or anyone else.

 + -1 moreSteve and his crew did a great job. They arrived on time and worked very efficiently taking the time to make sure all the zones were working as they should. After the work was completed, Steve walked me through the new control panel and we toured each zone as he explained what was done. They completed the work in the estimated time and budget as promised.
Description of Work: Initial visit was for tuning up old setup, but I had them return to install new irrigation controller and reprogram it. Tied in slope sprinklers to the new controller as it wasn't tied into the previous setup by the old owners of the house. Installed new sprinkler heads on side slope of house to increase watering range and efficiency. Relocated one sprinkler head to a more appropriate location for watering.

 + -1 moreWe learned about Steve Dame Landscape services through Angies List and purchased a voucher for a sprinkler system tuneup. Steve spent about an hour evaluating the system, and given the age of the system (over 25 years) was unable to "tune it". However, he gave us a reasonable quote for repair, which involved relocating two sprinkler heads so that they would no longer spray the side of the house. He replaced several other sprinkler heads, and replaced our semi-functional system controller with an inexpensive but effective replacement. The newer model has fewer stations, which was fine since the original was never used to its full capacity. Steve was very thorough. The repair job took between 2.5 to 3 hours. His estimate was correct. He offered to return at no charge if the system had any issues. We would re-hire Steve for any other landscaping jobs we might have in the future.

 + -1 moreSteve Dame owns Dame Landscaping. He's a great guy, easy to talk to, shares realistic advice and pricing. He also personally oversees the work. There's no mystery about who's doing the job. They fixed an old irrigation system at my parent's home. It had fallen into some disrepair. As Steve dug into it, there were some surprises. He brought these to our attention and made recommendations as to the most cost-effective and quality options to fix it. I'm very happy as to how it all turned out. I live out of state and it was great to feel like I was working with someone I could trust to do the job right and at a fair value. I feel like we got a great value for the money spent.

 + 0 moreThey had the best price of anyone around and we thought it was very, very fair. They didn't try to nickel and dime us for extra things that we really didn't need. We got 4 different quotes. So far they have been excellent. They have come right on schedule on time. They have met our expectations so far but the job is not completed. We don't anticipate any problems coming up. We are happy with it. My husband was going to do the sprinkler system himself and Steve made use of what we had here, so they were very fair all around. They are very easy to work with. He seems to know what he is doing. We would highly recommend them. He and his workers have been here, Johnny-on-the-spot every morning. We would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: We are using Dame Landscape to do our back yard. They put the sprinkler system in yesterday and they are doing the sod on Friday.

Description of Work: Steve Dame checked out my sprinkler system, made some adjustments and evaluated it. He told me that it was adequate, and while it would not have been what he might have installed, he did not think I needed to make any changes immediately. I appreciated his professionalism and the fact that he did not pressure me to do any work. I will call on him whenever my system does need some work.

Description of Work: Total to include the money with Angie's Deal was 95.00----seems fair---he checked out all of the sprinklers-----reset some---re-did setting on control panel----plus there was a pipe that had cracked and water was gushing from that sprinkler underground--he dug down found the broken pipe and replaced it.

Description of Work: I bought a new house recently and the inspector that came out to inspect the house also inspected the sprinkler system, zone by zone and said that there were no major problems but that a few sprinkler heads needed to be adjusted or slightly blocked. I saw the "Big Deal" on Angieslist for the Sprinkler Tune up and I decided to buy it to make sure that home inspector was on target and to get these sprinkler heads adjusted. Dealing with Steve was a true pleasure. He got so many people buying these that he said he was a few weeks out which wasn't a problem for me as I did a leaseback of my house a few months. Steve confirmed the day before via email, was always very good with communication and he showed up on-time today at 8:30 AM as promised. Steve inspected both the front and back sprinkler system (10 zones) and he confirmed exactly what the home inspector told me. He adjusted 4 sprinkler heads and was out about 1.5 hours working on them and carefully inspecting them zone by zone. Definitely he is a very professional and ethical guy. He said the system is really a nice and expensive system and it was professionally installed. That was good to hear. I imagine he doesn't make any money with these special AngiesList big deals but it's probably a good way to meet new people for future issues. Definitely based on my experience with him, I'd use him for ANY sprinkler needs and he will be the first guy I call if I experience problems or need a new system. Thanks Steve!

Steve Dame closely listened to my concepts, expanded upon them and gently introduced other ideas, and did a remarkable job of translating all of this to paper. Watching the design plans come to life in my front and back yards was one of the most satisfying experiences I have ever had as a homeowner. Almost two years later I remain delighted with the results and so are my neighbors according to the enthusiastically positive compliments I continue to receive. All members of the Dame Landscape team paid close attention to detail, were very friendly and courteous, and were as neat as anyone working with dirt and plant material could possibly be. Dame Landscape deserves the finest endosement I can provide!
Description of Work: Between Nov 2009 - Jan 2010, Dame Landscape designed a plan for a complete redo of my entire property - front and back yards. This included removal and disposal of existing tree roots and stumps, adding topsoil, installation of a full irrigation/drip system, installation of low voltage cable and 22 light fixtures (various types), purchase and planting of a variety of plant materials from ground cover to trees, gravel and stepping stones, and fountain set-up.

 + -1 moreOur lawn had some areas with dying patches and when I saw the Big Deal for a Sprinkler System Tune-up, I signed up. I set up an appointment for 2 weeks time and, although there was no call from the company to confirm the appointment, Steve showed up exactly on time on the date we had set. He is a very low-key guy, easy to talk to and listened to our concerns. He took his time and made a few recommendations but never put any kind of pressure on us to schedule future services. In fact, his first suggestions to us were about what we could do ourselves, without any modifications other than the adjustment of watering times/durations, which he did for us. We will now see how the lawn does and if it seems like further intervention is required, we will call him back. I really liked his demeanor and was very pleased with the whole experience.
Description of Work: We signed up for the Big Deal (1/2 off Full Sprinkler System Tune-up) for $45. Steve came to the house and checked the performance of our sprinkler heads in all zones and adjusted watering frequency and times. He also made suggestions about what we could do to optimize our system, such as replacing certain heads with longer stems and adding a few extra for areas that weren't being sufficiently watered.

He bermed the front. We picked the plants and he gave us recommendations on nurseries. It came out looking beautiful, his crew was terrific and Steve even came back a week or two later to check on the sprinkler system and plants, and to see if we still liked it. Highly recommend.
Description of Work: Steve Dame and his excellent crew landscaped our front yard, which included taking out old grass, and installed a sprinkler system. We went to more of a xeriscape.

 + 1 moreAlthough Steve Dame was very professional in his demeanor and appearance, and was very friendly when me met, we had a difficult time getting in touch with each other at first. After I sent a second email inquiry and gave him a phone number in addition to an email address, he responded and was very apologetic for the delay. He was prompt in arriving for our appointment, and gave our grounds a thorough inspection, and freely answered our questions and gave tips. He emailed his bid to us a couple of days later and although we were impressed with his presentation, his price was far more than we were expecting. We felt confident that he would have done a wonderful and professional job, but his pricing far exceeded our budget. I emailed back to him and asked if his price included the advertised Angie's List discount and the $45 sprinkler system inspection mentioned on his Angie's List page (as I did not see this on his bid), but I did not hear back from him. We have since hired another crew who did a fine job for much less. I'm sure this must be a very busy season in Steve's line of work, and I regret that our communications were not more successful.
Description of Work: Wanted a bank cleared of dead weeds, weeds removed from between pavers in patio, dead plants removed from one side and live plants removed from the other side, plus sod installed in small front yard. Also inquired about the advertised coupon for sprinkler system checkup.

 + -1 moreThey were on time, checked all sprinklers, cleaned or adjusted any that needed service (only a few needed that). Then they installed the new 4 inc h popups. Everything went smoothly. I am very happy with my new sprinklers and the others that were adjusted.
Description of Work: I bought a DEAL on Angies List - $45 (regular $90) to have all my sprinklers cleaned and adjusted as needed. One sprinkler was hitting my french doors and they adjusted that and several others Then I had some old sprinklers switched to 4 inch pop ups ($20 each) and that is why I spent the extra $125. They did a great job and I highly recommend DAME Landscaping. I have been very happy with everyone I have found on Angie's list. I already know I am getting a qualified, reputable person. Without exception, i get good work for a bargain price, and a chance to meet providers I will, unanimously, use again and recommend to friends and family. Steve Dame of Dame Landscape is the best of the best. Scheduling was easy, he arrived on time. He and his assistant are friendly, helpful, and courteous. Thanks to Steve's good advice, I don't expect to need major irrigation system work, but if I did, I'd absolutely hire him.
Description of Work: Steve and his assistant, Enrique, performed the "Big Deal Sprinkler System Tune Up." Steve was very helpful in explaining my sprinkler system to me, and adjusted the timers, etc., so that I will get the most benefit from the equipment I have. Even tho I told him I was willing to pay him to upgrade, he saved me a lot of money by assuring me that I had a good system already. He suggested water-saving strategies. He also did some basic repairs, and charged me barely enough for the supplies he used.
