Joe Sepe Heating & Air Conditioning

Joe and his son Nick did a great job. They were on time, the installation of the unit was clean, looks fantastic, and there were no surprises. Did touch up paint and always cleaned up after themselves. The job took three days and we were never uncomfortable. The job had a permit and past all the relevant tests without problems. The unit is working beautifully. I intend to have Joe service the unit in the future. My mother-in-law, who is 92 years old and has some health issues had her air-conditioner stop working, I called Joe and he and Nick were at my mother-in-law's house within two hours and had her unit up and running. I would not hesitate to recommend Joe for either installation or service on any unit. If you are in the market for any A/C work the first person I would call is Joe. I am not use to writing reviews but Joe Sepe is really a great guy you can trust to do the job right the first time.

The owner called to schedule service. tech came out to do the job, he was very knowledgeable, friendly and fast.

The fan in the outdoor unit had failed. Joe and his assistant identified the failure, had the replacement parts in the truck. Checked with me to see if I wanted to proceed. Replaced the fan, cleaned, and performed a maintenance on the unit afterwards. Checked the coolant level too. Really appreciated that he fixed and maintained instead of trying to up sell a new unit. Was professional and cheerful throughout.

He was very prompt, professional, courteous. The price was very fair. He even gave me advice on my furnace since it's older. He didn't try to upsell me on anything I didn't need.

Joe Sepe and a member of his crew, arrived on time for the scheduled appointment. My A/C system checked out fine and no service was needed, however if service had been done, their rates for a service call are quite reasonable. I found them to be honest and courteous and will definitely use them for any future heating or air conditioner needs. It was refreshing that I didn't experience a sales pitch for services or parts that I did not need. I give them my highest recommendation.

Great. Our technician, Rick, was on time and respectful of our home. He listened to my questions and comments and was accomodating with them. He also checked the carbon monoxide levels in and around the unit, which is important to me and explained what our furnace would look like if there was a leak. All in all, I'm very happy and will definitely use them as my regular maintenance company. Thanks Joe and Rick!!

He returned my call promptly and came out within hours, quickly diagnossed the problem and fixed it. Very professional and fair.

Joe was the 3rd bid to come in and he was quick and informative in his pitch. He did not come in trying to sell me anything. He just pointed out what we had and what he would recommend. Joe broke it down in stages for what we could install if we didn't want to do the whole thing at once. He was the only one to point out certain points of our system (like the coil and fan were mismatched with the condenser and that is why our system was performing the way it was) and what he would do to fix it. Joe gave an analysis of where the efficiency would break even in being a good investment. He was also the only salesperson that came that actually would be part of the team that did the installation. That was a big bonus. His team was very accommodating to meet our schedule. They cleaned up everything and left the area clean and did not leave any debris behind. Joe was very informative of the inspection process and kept us informed all along the progress of the job. He wanted to make sure we understood that the new unit would be much taller than the old one and that the location of our furnace (next to family room) he could not guarantee it would be as quiet and we wanted. It ended up being much quieter than the old one. There were no hidden fees or surprises.

We have a small pre-school and needed the heater fixed right away. They came out to our school, fixed the heater. They explained the process to the children who were interested and let them watch. The kids like to see how to fix things! They replaced the thermostat for free.

The service call went smoothly and the service did the job, The AC and heater have worked since and he has called as I asked him to as a reminder for me to have the filters changed out every six months!! Added bonus!! Thanks Joe Sepe!!

When we initially bought our home we were warned about the old and inefficient cooling/heating system, but were truly shocked at how terrible it was! Some rooms didn't even have any airflow at all. After running the heater for one month (and still freezing at night) we got our gas bill which was a whopping $250! So we decided to bite the bullet and invest in a brand new system. We solicited approx 6 bids, Joe being the last. We were referred to Joe by our trusted realtor, and upon meeting him we just knew he was the right guy for the job. We're not very educated about the various types of AC & heating systems, which I think some of the other companies took advantage of in trying to sell us more than what we needed. Joe listened to us patiently and really took the time to review the various products (not just what he offers but of other popular ones in the market), and thoroughly explained the pros/cons of various SEER ratings, 2 stage systems etc. After being overwhelmed by all the technical jargon thrown at us by others, it was refreshing to have Joe explain it in layman's terms. He gave honest recommendations and answered all of our questions. The job took a few days and they were punctual and cleaned up well afterwards. Our AC and heater works great now, during those summer heat waves we had no issues at all. We plan on using Joe for any future maintenance and would highly recommend him to anyone! I got a water leakage problem with my condo A/C unit. After reading many great reviews about Joe on Angies' List, I decided to call Joe for a diagnosis. Rick came 3 days later, clearing both the primary and secondary drain lines. And the water leak problem was gone! But with incredible attention to details, he also checked the external A/C component to make sure everything else look normal. One week elapsed, the water leak problem was back again. I called Joe for advice. Joe personally came to take a look at the unit this time. He discovered even though the drain lines are cleared, because of insufficient gradient in the condensation pan, the water from the A/C unit doesn't flow fast enough to the drain line so the condensation pan is half full all the time. And the vibration caused by the A/C unit is very strong, causing water from the half-full condensation pan to splash out. There is not much room to move the condensation pan to increase the slope, and it would entail some serious expensive work to change any of the existing layout of things. So Joe came up with an innovative solution - using foam tape together with some sealant to form a splash guard on the condensation pan! And it works! Even though Joe made a second trip to fix the leak problem, he didn't charge me for it. All in all, I find Joe and his team highly professional, very detail-oriented, knowledgeable and very patient in explaining the problems and solutions to their clients. Very reasonable service charge and excellent customer service! Highly recommended!

I was expecting an expensive repair. I was delighted to learn it was only a broken fan and a relay switch. Joe Sepe did a great job explaining what the problem was and replacing only the parts I needed. Too many times repairman try to convince you that you need to replace the whole unit. It was refreshing to hire someone that was honest and performed the job at a fair price.

He was on time, nice and informative. There was leak in the sealed system carrying the refrigerant, and he offered the option of installing a leak kit to seal the line, and refill the refrigerant. I appreciated this because the previous vendor didn't tell me about the option of a leak kit, and was really pushing me to get a new HVAC system (for around $8,000). Only time will tell if the leak kit worked, but I am happy with the work done.

They were responsive & overall quite professional. The maintenance person answered some of my long-standing questions about my system, and he crawled into the tough spaces to take care of it. As he left I was very happy. A few things arose since the service - the first of which I don't really blame them for. When he cleared the drain pan in the furnace (in my attic), it apparently shed a good amount of water. About a week later, I had a short in my smoke alarm and discovered water had leaked into the unit because of the maintenance. I had to replace my smoke alarm. I also discovered that the worker had swapped out my almost-new, high-quality filter, for one that was really crappy and totally the wrong size (he literally folded it over to cram in there). I know replacing the filter is part of the service, but he should have 1) asked, and 2) used discretion since the filter I had was far better than his - and therefore cost more - and was obviously not very old (not much dirt in it). And by the way, where is my original filter now?! Because of the two things that came up after the service, I had to downgrade the review some. I would probably use them again still, but I would be much more diligent about checking out what they were doing to avoid later issues.

I purchased the Preventative Maintenance of HVAC offer. Joe contacted me within 24 hours of my purchase to schedule the appointment and the service was completed a few days later. The Service Rep Nick was courteous and professional. He called before coming and spent over an hour cleaning and servicing the unit. He explained everything he did and answered all my questions. I would definitely use this company again.

This is the second time I have used this company, and was again impressed with their courtesy, fairness and professionalism. It was the same gentleman who performed a routine service a few months ago, but this time our aging system needed some capacitor love and compressor booster (?) I think he said. In any event, we went from a non-working to a great working system. Very reasonable, thorough, and with a parts and labor warrantee of a year. Love them and will definitely use them again.

Checked the entire A\c unit inside and outside the house. Joe was prsent all the time monitoring the effort performed by the technician. Cleaned the unit and replaced the filter. Explained in lay man terms of each of the components. Corrected the wiring. Replaced the capacitor (as then one we had had was burnt - short..). I will definitely use Joe's services and already recommended to couple of my friends who were also very very happy.

Joe was very professional. In addition to all that he checked tfor the maintanence call, he also provided very important information to me regarding the care of the unit, replacement parts, where the fuses are and what to check if the air stops working over a weekend. My husband was not home for the visit, so this was very valuable to me. We discussed ways to keep the outside unit clear of extra debris because we have Pepper trees in our backyard which shed tons of little leaves most of the year nd fall directly on the unit. He answered all my crazy questions, was kind and patient. I cannot speak highly enough of my experience. A hard working, honest man and has many years of experience.

Ricardo, a technician/repair person came to the house and checked the system to see it if could be fixed or had to be replacedl. He took pictures of the unit which is in the attic and showed me places where the unit was no good. He emailed the pictures to Joe Sepe and spoke with him about the unit and its condition. It was agreed that the unit could not be fixed, but had to be replaced, and Ricardo gave me a price quote before he left. I got two other estimates to "fix" the problem. One bid was between $8,000 and $13,000. The third bid was for $5,600. Both other bids either replaced the type of unit, or replaced both the attic unit and the outside condenser unit too, I spoke with Joe and asked him about replacing the outside unit too. He basically said he could certainly do that for a reasonable price, but in his opinion "if it works, don't fix it"! I agreed with him to save my money and Joe and his helper installed the new attic unit as soon as it was delivered. Joe was on the job the entire time and explained to me the processes of installation that they were going threough. He also told me later of the difficulties they had due to incorrect installation of the original unit, but that they frixed everything and it was working properly. Two years ago before I joined Angie's List, a friend had given me Joe Sepe's name to work on my A/C. When I needed an A/C person, I first checked Angie's List. Joe Sepe's name seemed familiar. Then I remember I had been carrying around his telephone number for two years! So I had two reliable sources who said he was the best, and he is!

I had some additional questions about ventilation in my house and Joe took plenty of time to discuss them. He told me that my equipment was in great shape and told me that I could wait two years before getting it serviced again and did not try to sell me any extras which was nice.

Joe responded immediately to our request, and was at our home within 2 hours of calliing. One of our a/c compressors was not working, and not blowing cold air. Because the units are still under warranty, he diagnosed the problem, called the original installer, and advised them of the exact problem so they can come fix it under warranty, at no charge to me. Amazing prfessional courtesy, integrity, and definitely earned a client for life. I feel you can't go wrong with Joe!

Joe was the last person I called. I had been getting estimates from AC contractors to repair the unit that was on the roof of my condo. All of the other contractors I called were Angie's list approved. Without exception, they told me I could not fix my unit but had to replace it. They told me I could not get the coolant it used and even if I could, it was not legal environmentally, that there was a leak they couldn't fix and that I would be wasting my money. Joe seemed to have a different view. He told me that an upgraded environmentally approved coolant was available for my unit and that he could fix the leak. He did what he said he would do and my unit works perfectly. I know that a new unit would have been the ideal--however, there was no way for me to purchase one this year. My choices were repair or suffer through these 100 degree days here in the San Fernando Valley. I feel a little like I was taken by the other perfectly reputable contractors I contacted. Each knew purchasing a new unit was only a remote possibility. I appreciate Joe Sepe. He is the person I will recommend and the person I will call when I do decide to upgrade my unit. You have no idea how grateful I am to him--and that I am cool and comfortable! Thank you, Joe!

Showed up on time, checked over system from previous new fan installation and then adjusted fan speed to a slower speed. The new fan was blowing very hard and waking me up every time it would turn on. The slower speed was a big improvement and there was not charge for the service call since the work was under warranty. Very professional.
