Joe Sepe Heating & Air Conditioning

There were a couple problems with the invoice presented; First, I was told a basic $75 service call charge would be applied to any labor and parts to to fix the A/C, yet the invoice showed a separate charge for a "Service Call." Although I do acknowledge that at the end of the description of the descrition of the "Preventative Maintenance HVAC Service"it says "Additional traveling expenses may apply to some areas", I was also told that the service Call charge included costs for workman's comp, and insurance, this didn't set well with me, as the customer, although costs for running a business are of course incorporated into the price of goods and services, is NOT responsible for making specicific payments for the various costs of doing business. Secondly, when I checked the price of the precise capacitor (same specs, same company) that was replaced (I assume the replacement was the same price), I found it was $1.50. I was charged $100 for parts and labor for the capacitor. Even if you take, say, $25 out for labor, and even 500% markup, that still seems to be an excessive markup It i s not so much the difference between the amount of my final bill and what I think I should have been charged, but more so about I, as the customer, being told that part of the charges were for the company's costs of doing business. If that the advertised $75 would have been shown as the cost for what I said above was a fairly thorough checkup of the A/C system, then the only problem I would have is the seemingly very excessive markup for the capacitor.

Both workers serviced HVAC and even performed a minor repair at no charge. Joe explained how it all works and even showed me how to replace my filter.

I originally called Mr. Sepe to inspect a house that I was potenially going to purchase. He gave me an honest answer regarding the property with no attic and did not charge me. I ended up not buying that home, but called him back regarding the house that I did buy. He serviced the unit and inspected everything to make sure the HVAC was up and running. He’s the kind of guy you want at your home performing services. He is honest and good at what he does. I will definitely use him in the future when the time comes.

Our air conditioner stopped working in the middle of a heat wave and the temperature inside our house was over 90 degrees. We called Joe Sepe in the morning and he said he could be there the same day and was there within an hour. I had called a few other places before Joe Sepe and none of them were available as quickly. Some weren't available for over a week! When Joe Sepe arrived, they instantly assessed the situation, discovered a clogged filter in our hallway, a clogged filter on the roof, found that the glue holding a big sheet of insulation on our roof had melted off and the insulation had flown into the motor and discovered that because of the clogged filters and motors, a giant block of ice had formed preventing our air conditioner from working. They replaced the filter and let us know that we didn't need two. The one on the roof was expensive to replace and redundant, and was only there so that we would have to call in service repairmen to replace it. They removed that filter and told us the filter in our hallway, that we can buy for $5 was sufficient. They told us to leave our unit off for 24 hours so the ice could melt and that should fix the problem. They said if, for some reason, it still didnt work after the ice had melted, they would come back, free of charge, and consider it a continuation of that same service. We left the unit off for 24 hours as instructed and just turned it on and WE HAVE WONDERFUL COLD AIR IN OUR HOUSE!! Joe Sepe was incredibly professional, respectful, affordable, honest and we are very happy with the service. We will definitely use them again (but hopefully won't need to for awhile :)) It was a $75 service charge and $5 for the new filter. Wonderful!!! Most places we called were between $85-125 for the service fee. It was wonderful to find a company that was so professional, prompt, honest and affordable! Thank you!!!

My AC hadn't been running very well during these hot summer days. I made an appointment with Joe Sepe for an inspection based on his excellent Angie's List reviews. Joe called a day before our scheduled appointment and asked if I was available for him to come out a day early to look at my AC since he had an opening in his schedule. Fortunately, I was able to have someone available to meet him. Joe came out right on time and was very knowledgeable, honest and professional. He explained everything and was extremely thorough with the inspection. Joe quickly performed the repair and maintenance. The price was very reasonable, especially for having to climb in a hot attic in 100 degree heat mid-day to check and repair ducting. I'm now much cooler and happier and I would definitely use Joe's Heating/ AC services in the future.

This company is AWESOME!!I rang Joe and he arrived less than 30 minutes later during the hottest heat wave of 2012. In less then 15 minutes, he determined that my house A/C unit is operating properly; however, it is simply undersized for the house and cannot keep the temperature below 80 when the outside temperature is above 100. Consequently, he refused to take any money from me and wished me a good day! I will definitely contact Joe when I decide to replace the unit with a properly-sized unit.

My air conditioning unit had suddenly stopped working on a very hot day. I called Joe Sepe Heating and Air to see if they could come out and within 1.5 hours Ricardo was at my door. I appreciated that he presented me with a business card upon arrival to identity himself. He looked at the unit and determined that it had overheated due to an improperly installed air filter in the attic. The filter was installed by someone who came to my home a couple weeks prior to clean my air ducts. Ricardo reset the breaker and patched some holes in a few of the ducts in the attic. He was very thorough in identifying the problem. The bill was only $75 for the service call. It was so refreshing that he did not try to sell me an unnecessary and expensive repair. I would not hesitate calling back Joe Sepe for future HVAC needs.

Really impressed with this company. Joe returned my call promptly and had a technician out the same day. The service call was only $69 and they found a loose wire that was causing our AC unit not to function/cool properly. After seeing all the many heating and AC scams rampant on the news, we were pleasantly surprised at their very HONEST and straightforward repair cost of $75. When we need a new AC unit, or heating repairs this winter. JOE SEPE is who we will be calling. They have just made a customer for life. Honesty and integrity are so rare today; when you find it, keep it.

Everything went great. He got on the roof of my mom's condo to get access to her unit. He fixed a leak he found and added freon. My mother's air-conditioning is working well now. Thanks Joe!

Needed my outdoor R22 Air Condensing Unit replaced after my 20+ year unit failed. Received three estimates from other HVAC for replacement. Estimates were $3800, $3725, and $2900. My obvious choice was Joe Sepe, not only for the incredibly fair price but for his personality and honesty that was conveyed over the phone. Joe really explained in detail what needed to be done to replace my unit which made me comfortable. Actually he explained it so well, I used the information he gave me to get the other estimates. He arrived at my home a few hours before I arrived from work to start on replacement. When I arrived it had been mostly completed and just needed to test the unit and top off the Freon. He really did an amazing job as he made the unit's connections and wiring look very clean, attractive and professional. I am a very, very happy customer!!

I called Joe Sepe on a very warm day for an appointment to look at my air conditioner which was not cooling. He was able to come over the same day. He and his assistant quickly found the fuse needed to be replaced. He also added freon to the system. The unit is 25 years old so I asked about future replacement costs. He took time to explain my options. Before he left he washed my filter for me. Overall I am very happy and will definitely use this company again.

I had 4 other quotes. Joe has the second to the lowest quote. The quotes were 9,000 / 8,000. / 6,900. and 6, 500. I chose Joe because he explained his proposals very well and was very positive and open to my ideas. He was able to give me the most of what I wanted for my budget and I never felt like I was being manipulated to get something I did not need. Joe owns the company and is very knowledgeable and can answer all your questions. He personally goes to the client for the proposal instead of sending a sales agent. Hence he is able to explain what is possible or not on the spot. That is a big plus if you have a tight budget and would like to know about different options. It took them 2 days to install everything and they were very polite and professional the whole time. The quality of work is excellent. Everything looked right and aesthetically pleasing. Joe personally supervised the install and personally did some of the work himself. Again, the quality of work and equipment was top notch. He uses American Standard which is a very good brand. My only regret is that; I wish I was able to get a 18 Seer instead of a 13 Seer A/C to save me money on operational cost. But I should have raised the issue before the install. But overall, I had a really good experience with Joe and would highly recommend him. AQ

I called a few other highly-rated HVAC companies on Angie's list but found that Joe had the best price and he responded quickly. We set up a time for him to come to our home the very next morning. He called in advance (like he said he would) and arrived within the time frame we discussed. He was pleasant and professional. He replaced our very old thermostat with a brand new programmable one. He tested the unit to make sure both our heating and our air were working properly and offered to come back if we experienced any problems. I will definitely use him again for all of our HVAC needs.

In the end, everything was taken care of as I requested. However, I need to mention that the repairman Joe sent was very slow and seemed a little less than confident. He spent many hours in the initial visit determining the problem. When he called me to explain the issue he told me that the furnace was not working and that I wouldn't have any heat that night. He said there was something wrong with the controller unit on the heater. I told him that the heater has been working just fine, only the humidifier was a problem. After he took it all apart, now it doesn't work? I called Joe to complain about it. He spoke with the repairman and it was determined that the polarity on a connection was reversed. When that was corrected, the heater worked fine. I was not very impressed with the repairman, although he did ultimately get it right. I was very impressed with Joe Sepe himself. He was very professional and knowledgeable. He even did some extra work and didn't charge me for it because of the mix up. In the future, I will ask Joe to service my unit. He is a stand up guy.

I was very pleased with him. He was honest and straightforward. He came out and took care of the problem. He gave me a fair price. I would recommend him. As a matter of fact, I've recommended to a friend of mine. It was a minor issue, but I had somebody else come out and they had given me $2400 quote for what they felt like. My sister asked me to check on Angie's List and I joined. I was very happy with him. His price was competitive. I had called one other company and they were going to charge me a little bit more for an in-house visit, but his price was real good. I have no complaints at all. His responsiveness was okay because it took a little while to get through to me. I will actually use him again and I won't even look for anybody else at this point.

Yesterday I woke up feeling lousy with a cold and a furnace that wasn't working. It was 60 degrees in my house. I called Joe Sepe and he promised to arrive by noon. When he couldn't make it by that time because of another job, he sent one of his technicians who did an excellent job repairing my furnace. Later in the afternoon, Joe called me to make sure that everything was OK and that I was satisfied. What a nice guy--and very professional! I would definitely call him again.

I picked Joe based on the reviews here. There are a lot of "A" rated HVAC service people but if you look at the details a lot of them are coming in and saying the homeowner needs to replace whole heating and AC units. I specifically looked for someone rated "A" for REPAIRING Heating and A/C instead of trying to upsell/scare people into buying whole new systems. Joe was punctual, had the problem diagnosed in under 5 minutes, he had to get the part so that slowed the repair down but if he had that motor in the truck it would have been a 45 minute job. I'm very happy with the fast service and professionalism his company provided. Definitely will call again for my HVAC needs.

I would feel very comfortable calling him again if another problem comes up.

I contacted Joe regarding the A/C not working. He was very helpful and professional over the phone. He was willing to come out, diagnose the problem, and give an estimate (some companies we contacted would not come and give an estimate - but wanted to come for a service charge up front). The company showed up when they said they would, explained to me what they found that needed replacing, performed the work in a timely fashion, and did the work for a fair price. I will definitely recommend Joe Sepe Heating & Air Conditioning to friends and would not hesitate to use them again should the need arise.

Joe saved us easily well over 2,000 dollars. We had several other estimates, but chose Joe for several reasons. Both he, and his staff are polite, friendly, and his willingness to present us many repair options will mean we definitely use them again. Joe also is low-pressure which is a welcome change from 'you must act now salespeople' who apparently were mostly wrong about our system. Thanks!!

It went great. I had already had another company come (not from your list) who tried to sell me all kinds of things and charge me way too much. Then I signed up for your list and checked it and decided to call Joe Sepe. He was professional, friendly, and to the point. He was trying to come out that same day (only 2 hrs left), but could not make it, so he came out the first thing the next morning. He diagnosed the problem quickly and explained the solution was to replace the motor. He told me the other parts were fine (when the other company told me they would have to be replaced or perhaps I should get a whole new unit). He quickly replaced the motor, left us the old one for my husband to see, and even vacuumed the furnace area at no charge. He checked to see ifit was all working fine and found the freon was a little low, so he told me the price of that (just $25) and I agreed to have him do that too. He was great and I would definitely use him again.

Joe is honest and professional. He literally saved me minimum of $4000.00. I had at least 8 proposals from different companies who sent sales people to try to get me into a bigger job that I did not need using scare tactic techniques. Joe is not a sales person and he told me upfront about the job that needs to be done providing good quality work and good equipments. I would highly recommend him to all my family and friends. I also compared his work with the work done on my neighbor's Air Con unit and I could tell the difference in the quality of the work and how he sealed all the pipes with no exposed wires. Also while he was working he found a damaged part, which he replaced it at no extra charge.
