I waited until I received the So Cal DWP customer water reduction rebate to write this review. I wanted to make sure everything was complete. By the way, it took six or so weeks to get the rebate check. I'm glad the rebate was available, it paid for 30% or so of the cost of the job. And that's a win win as far as I'm concerned. Paul was very helpful and responsive and was priced competitively with his competitors. He even came out and showed me the material twice, which was very helpful. On the day of the install the crew arrived on time and got to it. It took about five hours to install the 500 plus square feet of Diamond 80 artificial turf. They cleaned up the area after wards and even took a little soil out of the flower beds to match the level of the new turf more closely. Smart Yards was the only company to give me a written warranty of two years on the installation and eight years on the material. I was impressed by that and it made me more confident doing business with them. Overall, we're very pleased with the appearance and ease of maintenance of the turf. And, with this drought every bit of water really counts.

They are very personable and pretty upfront on what was going to happen if we proceeded.

Paul was very informative during my first calls with him, and was able to come out very quickly to give a quote (whcih was not true for another company). Once we decided to go with artificial turf, his crew was able to come within a week, and all the work was professionally done in one day. It looks great and my dogs will no longer destroy the real grass, which seemed to turn into dirt and mud soon after we replanted each year. Also, my 3 and 6 year old boys think its a mini golf course, and spend each evening hitting golf balls into the in ground drain. All in all, Smart Turf was a wise decision. Of note, his final quote was at the low end of the on phone quote I got from another company. I also liked that Paul followed up and came to see the work his crew did the day after it was done. I would use them again and have recommended them to friends already.

I was getting married in a little more than two weeks when I gave Paul the go ahead to do the job with the request that they be done before the wedding when I was having guests over. I really didn't think it was possible, but they were done, completely done, with a day to spare. The turf, or carpet as I call it, was especially quick as Paul's crew had it all prepped, laid, trimmed and nailed down in two days. And it looks great. I've been thinking about putting in turf for some time and I am glad I did. Paul was very helpful and informative in going over the several different varieties of turf available and helped us pick out the best turf to meet our needs. He even stirred me away from the most expensive turf even he probably could have made more by selling us on it. Paul's landscaping guy, Sev, was top notch as well. He came in and listened to my ideas, was open to suggestions, and offered his own ideas as far as the layout and types and varieties of plants, which is what I wanted. He even gave my suggestions on which plants/shrubs I should keep, which I followed, even though I was ready to strip everything and start from scratch. Sev had a great idea about using golden bamboo in places I want thoroughly covered and then gave me larger plants than I paid for. There is still a little more I want to do up a hillside in the backyard. When I am ready I will be calling Paul and Sev.

Paul was one of four estimators that I had come out to the house to look at our yard. He gave us some suggestions about what we had proposed doing, and talked us out of removing a planter that we thought we might get rid of because it may have had some implications for our foundation. We had an abnormally shaped space, with a fence running through it and an inconvenient palm tree. He was one of the few who was able to give us a quote for doing the complete job with tree removal priced in. He was very knowledgeable and after getting in all the quotes we chose Smartyards for the job. We initially planned on doing the work in February, but ended up being able to swing it just before Christmas. The job was done over three days, and while the subcontractor that removed the palm tree used the wrong trash can for some of the debris, Paul cleaned that up later for me. Overall we're very happy with our new yard, and the kids love their new space. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Smart Yards to our friends.

Great service! Paul Easley from SY came out to talk to us (for free) to get a gauge of the job we wanted done: brought samples, materials, and answered any and all questions we had. Our yard(s) were extremely barren and our existing spinkler system was trashed when we moved in so artificial turf was the best solution for our needs and budget: Paul helped us decide on the best approach and turf type for our needs. Paul and his Smart Yards crew arrived promptly on the day we agreed upon and set to work right away. The first day they did all the necessary "demolition" (grating, digging, etc...), then they prepped and leveled the required areas for turf application (part of installation is gravel/aggregate fill for a smooth grass surface.) Day one completed with pretty much the front and back yards set for the rest of the installation. On day two the crew again showed up promptly and got to work right away. They finished any remaining ground prep-work, and the rest of the day was spent cutting, arranging and installing the turf for the front and back yards. (Can't say enough about the installation team: ...It was pretty hot on the days that Paul/Smart Yard crew was there... The guys did an awesome job trudging thru the brutal weather! Plus they were super good about answering any questions or concerns I had...) They had the all turf installed and the silica infill spread by the end of the second day. The Smart Yard crew would have had the job ~completely~ finished by the end of the day but their "turf broom" (the thing they sweep over the newly installed turf to make sure it's nice and pretty) that they had broke down toward the end of the evening, so they were forced to come back the following morning and perform the last of "beautification work". They should up on day 3 and quickly knocked out the last of the job. Done and done! Top Notch work and service! We ~immediately~ got compliments on their finished work. This review is being written about 6 months after installation (on purpose). It is now December. The work the Smart Yards team did still looks really great and has held up super well to daily "wear". (About a week ago I had a neighbor walk by and ask if our lawn was artificial... I said "Yes." ...He said... "It's actually ~really~ hard to tell. ...Your yard looks that good!" "YAY!!!" I said.) :) Upkeep on the turf has been a little bit of a learning curve, per Paul/ Smart Yards you can't rake it like a regular lawn (regular rakes can damage the turf). We did have to buy a special synthetic turf rake and a leaf blower to make clean up in the Fall months easier. We are getting it down to a science now and it really is proving to be a great choice: the turf really saves on time, water, mowing, upkeep, etc... We do have little dogs too... cleaning up their special little gifts is a snap. (A little lightly soapy water and a quick wipe with a rag after pick-up and you never knew a doody happened... and little wee's just soak right thru to the ground... no work there!) 6 months later our yard looks and "performs" super! We are very happy with Smart Yards and their work!

I signed the contract on 7/25/2013 and they arrived onsite about 3 weeks later. The crew started around 9 am and finished by 6 pm. I was quite impressed by their thoroughness in removing the dead grass and the installation of the different layers before the turf went in. Because my yard was dead grass and dirt, they watered the area to minimize the dust. To say I was shocked at the result is an understatement. I've waited a few weeks before writing this review, but I can report that I am extremely satisfied with the workmanship, the quality of the turf and the company. The quote I received from Paul was the most professional quote I've received in a long time. It included a site plan, certificate of insurance, and CA contractor's license. I received two quotes in 2012 for 60 oz turf that didn't include a site plan or insurance certificate. Those estimates were below and above the estimate from Smart Yards. My 3 dogs get their exercise running around the yard throughout the day, so they also approve! I would definitely recommend Paul & Smart Yards for your artificial turf projects. I am planning to use them again for my backyard.

The job was expected to take approximately 2 days, but it got off to a bit of a slow start because they got a flat tire on their trailer as they were coming here. However, the crew worked exceptionally hard in nearly 100 degree weather, and stayed late on day 3 to make sure that the job was completed. The head installer, Henry, was truly a professional and a perfectionist. He made sure that everything was done exactly right, rather than rushing to try to get the job done. The result is a beautiful "lawn" that we (and the dogs) were able to enjoy the next day, which just happened to be Mother's Day (I got lots of brownie points from my wife for that one!) We will probably install the same grass in our front yard before too long, and Smart Yards will certainly be our first choice for the job.

We and our two dogs are very pleased with the look and feel of the artificial grass. We look forward to low maintenance, no watering, and no more brown spots.

The work was done in a timely manner, the workers were very knowledgable, and they even cleaned up some areas that were not really included in the bid. We are super happy with the finished product!
