In both projects the work was performed as agreed in the time frame expected. The edge work was precisely fitted around the castle stones. The workers left the area very clean and treated us in a respectful and friendly manner. I am very satisfied and would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: This is the second paving stone job I had Tucson Native Landscaping do. Last summer I had approximately 300 square feet of pavers installed in my backyard. This year I needed a modification of a castle stone retaining wall and pavers placed. I used keyhole pavers which are a bit difficult.

Horrible experience. Have you even been blamed for everything going wrong when you have not changed your expectations or actions? The story: I met landscape workers from this company that were working in my neighborhood- I gave them my number. Owner, David, came by and we did a general talk about a few projects including landscape maintenance (I have 2 acres), masonry wall build, concrete shower and carport pad, tree fertilization and prickly pear removal. Made an appointment for a detail project and to write up bid. Secretary called 30 mins before he was to be here to reschedule for the next day- i said no problem. Came next day and we talked details of projects he gave me a bid. I called to schedule prickly-pear trim and pack rat ousting. His crew arrived and did the trim also removed 2 dead ocotillos and hauled all away. Since they were going to do concrete jobs they said they would add the trimming to the next bill. We scheduled the concrete pour for the following Monday. I later looked at the trimming job and realized that they did a terrible job on the prickly pear, hacking/ cutting and leaving 2 half-dead large arms that later fell. (When they came to do the concrete, I asked them to look at it and cut the big arms off, but they ignored it). They said the mason would be here at 6:30 am and David at about 8 am. After 8 am the mason showed up and said that they would only be able to form, not do concrete today as his boss had other jobs to do. I said it was planned for that day and as I had my remodeler and I scheduled to put on the carport roof/deck they needed to do the concrete that day. So, David arrives with a mixer and concrete and I said no, it was supposed to be a single pour as agreed upon and they tried to talk me into doing many batches. I said, no, I have a mason that could mix batches and do the job, but that was the reason I had hired this company as they said they would have a delivery-1 pour . So, they are all a bit frazzled and the masonry guy asks me what kind of slope I want for the shower. I said I have no idea- David had told me he built 70 or so showers and has done ADA showers so he needs to have him help with that info. I had a drawing with measurements for everything, all the bolts and locations pinned, the drain had been moved to center and was at adjustable height- I had it all ready for them to make. The mason said he thought he was supposed to pour a slab for a shower (not sure where he got that idea) and then the boss came and we calmly talked about the shower measurements and other than basic measurments and gentle slope, I worked with them on what would work best for them to make it. OK, shower and carport slab and step all agreed on. BUT, they could not pour the concrete that day, but had set-up a truck to deliver next day (Tuesday) at 12 noon and they would be here at 11:30. I said I would give them as much access as possible, but that we had to get the deck flooring on and that they would need to work around stuff falling into the concrete areas of shower and carport as my other contractor and I had scheduled our carport work around what David had scheduled - the job to be done on Monday that wasn't. I had been working outside for days and got dehydrated and got a UTI and was in so much pain and sick that Tuesday morning I was waiting for 8am when I could call the doctor and get an appointment or prescription. At 7:30 the masons showed up and told me that the concrete delivery was coming at 8 am. I said "No, I plan on going to the doctor this morning - I am waiting for the office to open and that is my priority as I am really sick" I was also supposed to get the deck floor contractor going, but he couldn't come at 8 to oversee anything because his wife had a flat and he had to take her to work, so we decided to wait until I got an MD appt scheduled. The mason called David and I told him about needing to go to the doctor right away and he said I didn't need to be there for the concrete. Right. My contractor had been there the day before and saw how inept these guys were the day before and said " Do me a favor and watch everything these guys do". I agreed, NO concrete was to be poured and nobody in my yard without me there. He got angry and yelled about how he was trying to get it done early for me. I said, well, You could have called and asked me if that would work for me. Simple. COMMUNICATION. But, David wanted to do what he wanted without thought to my (the homeowner's) needs. He then yelled about how he wasn't making any profit on this job and that if the truck had to turn around he was charging me an extra $100. I had had it with this guy. I started yelling back at him. I already spent the day before dealing with his lateness, inability to pour the concrete, fighting for the single pour that we agreed upon, having to argue for a specific concrete shower pan with curbs and gentle entrance slope that had been explained prior and agreed upon, and the crappy trimming job that they had done and I was SICK, in pain and needed to go to the doctor. I had accommodated and accommodated and never changed my mind about what we were going to do - just held him to what he agreed to do and here I was getting blamed for the fall-out from his poor scheduling, lack of worker's skill and lack of communication with me. WHAT?!!! I said "No, Ive got to go to the doctor's. I have to make my appointment and the concrete will be delivered AS YOU ORDERED IT for 12:00." About 10 minutes later, David comes to the front door and says that they are not doing the job, they will pull up their forms and shakes my hand and goes off to have his crew pull the forms. They pull forms, throw some of the wood and garbage in the parking area and then peel out swerving and making ruts and sending gravel flying, all the way out to the street on my 100 yards of driveway. Childish. AND I had to have a worker spend 1.5 hours repairing the ruts so my neighbors and I could use the driveway. I did go to the doctor for 9:15 appointment and did not get out of there and home until 10:30. They would have been unsupervised for 3 hours at my home and backyard and who knows what the shower would have actually looked like with out my input. All it would have taken to make this a decent experience was some consideration of the homeowner and some communication. The garbage and wood and driveway vandalism was so uncalled for. Unbelievable, stressful and I will never again use a contractor that does't have raving reviews on Angie's List (he did said he was licensed and bonded) or personal recommendations. I'll now look on Angie's List for a cement company to do this work. This is a really long review, but the story needs to be told so other people wont have to deal with this really bad company and so that I feel some closure of this horrible, stressful experience.
Description of Work: Contractor was to pour a large concrete pad to fill-in uneven walkway and step in carport and to poor an outdoor pan for a shower requiring gentle slope for wheelchair access.
