had previously had a handyman try and couldn't do it, said speakers may be incompatible w/the dvd player. Alan called back right away, and said he was confident he could do it. In an hour, he had it all hooked up, rewired to look better and couldn't have been friendlier or nicer. Felt like he was an old friend, so down to earth and helpful. Fantastic all around!

I first spoke to Alan Brown on Wednesday, July 25th about the set up of a new television in a wall niche. Alan offered some very good advice and spent several minutes on the phonewith me, not knowing if I would call him for the set up. I purchased a television and brought it home and called Alan to arrange for the set up. Alan returned my call promptly and we scheduled the set up time for Friday, July 27th at 2pm. Alan arrived 10 minutes early. He quickly discovered that a new cable box compatable with our new television was needed. Alan drove me to the nearest cable company store, where the cable box was exchanged for a newer on. We returned to my home and Alan completed the set up to include connecting the new television to existing speakers located in the ceiling of our home. After setting up the new television, Alan contacted the cable company and programmed the remotes, demonstrated how to use them and answered all or our questions. I am extermely satisfied with the service that Alan provided. Alan is punctual, personable, patient and attentive to the details. I feel Alan's fee was reasonable since he drove me to the cable company in his truck to exchange the cable box. His customer service is what someone should expect, and he exceeded my expectations.

Great overall experience! Alan was very responsive from my first phone call and told me he could meet me same day at my house. I agreed and he arrived on time ready to see what my situation was. He methodically configured all of my tv and receiver/speaker settings in order to get the best possible sound. What a difference it made. The previous installer did none of the configuration and even told me the rear channel speakers were working. Alan found that they were not hooked up correctly and made the change to get them working. Now everything sounds and works great! Then we went out to the casita to debug the video problem. After working thru several possible root causes, he was able to find the issue and switched some coax to send the signal to the appropriate room receiver. All in all, great response and solution. I would definitely recommend Alan and his expertise.

I called and within hours, Alan returned my call. He was so kind to walk me through the steps to get my TV working again. I was so impressed with him, I can't say enough! I will definitely use him in the future and refer him to my friends.

He can make your tv run on one remote instead of 15. He's been very helpful to us. We got him off of Angie's List. He's real good. He set up our blu ray and everything on the router so we can download movies and do the whole bit. I thought the price was fair, for what he did it was worth it. It cost me a lot more in Colorado. He said to just call if we needed anything and I've done that. He even set me up a way to clean up my computer once a month.

This is the second time we have used The Hook Up. Alan Brown, the owner, arrived exactly at the time we had established and went right to work. He uninstalled our existing system, replaced it with the new one and, to my husband's delight, reinstalled the old one in the garage so my husband could enjoy music while working there. I called the Hook Up and they were at my house the next day at the time they said they would be there. Service was great and he charged me exactly what he quoted me over the phone. I would not hesitate to call them back if I needed help with something else.

I was so excited to get everything put back together and to be able to readily adjust what I wanted to do with the system. Alan wasted no time to figure his way through the quagmire. He was extremely pleasant, knowledgeable, and had no issues with explaining his process.

We talked about what I wanted and he was able to do that and a few other things that weren't originally scheduled. He also gave me some helpful advice. I had originally wanted to mount the television on the wall but he showed me where the line of sight would be for anyone watching the television. Where I'd wanted to put it would have caused neck strain. I had never thought of that. I was very pleased with his work and his professional courtesy.

Allen Brown arrived at the appointed time after he had previously promptly responded to my messages on his answering device. He figured out the cables that had been previously connected to my multiple devices and was done just under his 1 hour minimum. He's pleasant and friendly but not to interfere with his performace and consume billable time.

My previous all in one remote that controlled our home theatre system was done in by my 2 1/2 year old daughter. I called Allen after reading the positive reviews on Angie's list. I called him on wednesday and we talked about the best way to replace our pervious unit. He loves the harmony one all in on remote. It's relatively affordable for a high end all in one remote and so far i think it works great. you can get t for 155.00 on amazon but i was under time pressure so Allen bought one for me at Best Buy for roughly 180.00. He came the next day and did a terrific job. The job ended up being much more complicated then he had originally though as my system was put together in 2003. He worked hard at it and got it figured out. allen charges by the time it takes to do the job. He doesn't lallygag. He moves fast and is efficient. He also helped to reset the surround sound system as it needed to be fine tuned. He got that fixed and showed me how to adjust the speakers myself so i could tweak it later. my total costs was 180.00 for the remote and 187.50 for allen's time. that was a little more than what he roughly estimated but i thought that was very fair. As i mentioned, the job turned out to be more complicated than the usual one.

After having new carpet installed I needed assistance in reconnecting and programming all devices and speakers for my entertainment center (HDTV, cable, DVD, stereo, tape player & Wi). Because of good reviews from Angie's List, I contacted Alan Brown of THE HOOK UP. Alan had an opening in his schedule and came over that very afternoon. He checked and corrected some of the connections I had made, as well as completed connections of other devices. He reprogrammed my TV and receiver to ensure that I was getting the best picture and sound possible. He also corrected a problem I was having in getting sound to external speakers in other rooms and the patio. He was prompt, courteous and very professional. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

He gave excellent recommendations for equipments. He reworked the schedule to meet my needs. I don?t need that service again but if there is a need I will use them in the future.

Alan Brown visited our home and assessed our AV equipment . We had a fairly new TV but most of the other things were years old, and we had a number of unwired and unmatched speakers, et cetera. He suggested which of our things would still work well and what could be replaced. His suggestions were reasonable and conservative. He then found and with our permission purchased the equipment we needed. He wired up everything we asked for, taught me how to use the new equipment, trouble-shot some glitches in our television and worked out novel hookups so that the tv didn't present a problem. He was prompt, capable, very easy to deal with, and extremely patient with our old equipment and its requirements. He service was exactly what I had hoped for when I began looking for help in this area. I would recommend him to anyone. In fact, I have already recommended his services to my very good friends.

I recently purchased a new AV receiver and 7.1 speaker system for our family room tv. Alan came over the first time and set everything up the way it is supposed to be, including three different game systems. He was willing to consolidate remotes, but recommended I purchase a Harmony remote and have him come back to program it. I did so and he came back and programmed it. Throughout Alan was exceptionally friendly and explaining what he was doing and why. I have already recommended him to some friends and would not hesitate to use him again.

I thought he did pretty good. He showed up right on time. The final price was the same as the original estimate I received. He left his business card incase we found any issues, we ended up waiting well over 12 hours to hear back from him. I was trying to call him after business hours and he returned my call as soon as his business reopened the next day. Once we reached him he came right out and resolved the issues. He was very professional.

What a gem of a guy! I called Alan and he was booked until the following week. I live in Gilbert and knew that he was located in Gilbert as well. I whined just a wee bit, ('but I'm in Gilbert, how big can Gilbert be?'). Turns out he was maybe 8 minutes from me and he agreed to come over! He discovered the original installation was very, very.....bubblegum to be kind. And dangerous, complete with aluminum foil wrapped around a gazillion wires. He fixed us all up in no time. I'm so happy! Now I have a special gizmo that sits on top of the receiver and I can push buttons to my hearts delight. Music in the living room, the bedroom, out on the patio. In addition to be being very knowledgeable, efficient,responsive and fairly priced, this guy has enormous charisma and personality. Not often found with these techno guys. I need to call him to come back and install the center speaker he recommended (emailed me the link to the model). Very patient and understanding of my VERY limited competence with this kind of stuff. Oh, he also recommended one remote to work everything (sent link for that as well).

The rental we moved into had 2 big screen TV's that are part of the furnishings and I called Alan to hook up the DVD players to each TV. He was actually headed back home, when I returned his call and he turned around and came back to the house. Alan quickly and efficiently resolved the family room DVD hookup and enhanced the audio surround sound that was poorly set up, for a area twice the size of the actual room. He tried reprogramming the COX remote to accommadate the add on DVD, but the remote was of the old variety and after several trys, told me it wouldn't accept the code. So he explained to me I had to use the recievers remote for sound adjustment. No problem. Then his expertise and technical knowledge were tested trying to program the second VCR because the original remote for the TV was lost by the previous tennant. He had to work around this problem by using the controls on the TV. He did an awesome job of analysis and trouble shooting and after having to add another audio cable had it up and working in about 20 minutes. He accomplished all of this in an hour. I was very impressed with his technical expertise and ability to problem solve older compotents and other peoples installations. I have dealt with many A/V techs and he is by far the best I've ever seen and is very reasonable rate wise. I can't say enough about his abilities, as he has been doing this for many years and it shows. He's your man, should you need any A/V attention. Great job Alan. Thankyou again.

The technician was very good. He was very competent and nice. He showed up when he said he would show up and did the job thoroughly. I would use his services in the future too.

Our equipment was pretty new, but the company we bought it from went out of business. We were having trouble with our sound system. Alan checked out our sound system from beginning to end, enhanced it, and it is much better than it ever was. He encouraged us to call with questions, which he promptly answered. Based on our first experience with him - service and price were excellent - we bought a Universal Remote from him. He went above and beyond identifying all of our uses for the equipment and making sure that everything was accounted for. On a few things I forgot to request initially, he did additional programming remotely, and then emailed instructions for using the new feature - he was also available by phone if we preferred. He provided an 8.5 X 11 laminated cheat sheet as a reference for us or visitors, but the remote is so easy to use, we rarely need to refer to it. When our bedroom TV died, Alan provided recommendations, purchased and installed it for us at a cost savings from what local and internet merchants charge, and he removed and took our old set to the recyclers. Our experience with Alan couldn't have been better, and we will use him for all of our entertainment equipment servicing going forward.
