Met with their Landscape Designer (Mike) and it was about a twenty to thirty second meeting. I started to show him what I wanted done and but he simply interrupted me and stated that my ideas for my backyard did not mesh with his..we did not see eye to eye on my project and he walked away??? First thing I thought was this is my yard...so how could it be his idea of what I want for my yard. He also stuck one of his cards on car door of another landscaper who was bidding the same job.. asking him to call him. Very shady???

They came out and took a look over everything. He was a very nice guy and gave us some recommendations in terms of maintenance and upgrading. They were very nice about following up as well.

The Masterscapes personnel were professional from start to finish of the job. At the initial consultation, Troy made a lot of good suggestions and provided a design on the spot that was tailored to my budget needs. The office staff was very helpful and provided daily updates on the schedule. Communications were good and any concerns addressed in a timely manner. The work was completed within the promised time frame. The yard turned out great. I am very satisfied with the finished product and with Masterscapes.

They came in as a crew and they get along in couple of hours. They gave me a load of rocks and they have to put the rocks in. They did well in putting it in the lottery system and they did it so fast and it seems like I need a lot of money for that. In addition to the people working on that because there are 5 people working and it's hard to judge. Compared to the other companies, they seem to have a lot of powers. They're working fine, they have a good quality and no problems are ripped. They came on time and quite responsive.

Estimate was given on 2-28 and I was told it would probably be done the following week- the first week of March. I told Alan I would be out of town the 2nd week of March but was assured since the project was small, it could be done either the first week of March or the week I returned. I contacted the company twice after the second deadline was missed but nothing happened. The job was finally done on 4-3 - five weeks after I paid the deposit and received the estimate. I was told my job "fell through the cracks" even though I e-mailed twice requesting a completion date. They did not respond other than to confirm what style of paver I wanted which I already confirmed in writing the week before. The work itself was fine but I felt my job was too small for them. I would not use them again because of their lack of responsiveness.

Jeremiah came out and gave us an estimate. He was very professional and very knowledgeable. The quote was higher than we expected but he assured us it would be a top notch job and completed in two days.

The salesman was very talented and professional to a point. However he did not listen to what I wanted. I told him I wanted low maintenance and not too busy. I also reminded him of the neighborhood I live in. The amount and type of vegetation he wanted to plant was ridicules. I would be spending all my time pruning and trimming - and what he suggested was way too much, meaning way too busy. If I lived in a mansion with tons of land it would have been great. But I live in a 30 year old neighborhood with very modest homes. The price was also way out of line for what he wanted to do.

I chose Masterscapes because they came highly recommended by Angie,s List. Alan who came out was very professional and did a good job. About one week after signing the contract they came to install the pavers. There was a short meeting before the works started to make sure that everyone was on the same page. The work itself was done very well. No complaints at all about the quality of the work. What was severely disappointing was the mess they left in my backyard. I found empty cigarette packs, cigarette buds, empty soda cans, candy wrappers and empty cement bags in my back yard. The used my water hose and broke the nozzle , they broke a paver and a newly planted mango tree was snapped in three. The water hose they used was in a pile all kinked and damaged. They also cleaned their wheel barrow in my lawn, leaving behind concrete and mud in the middle of the lawn. Finally the workers took oranges from my tree and left the peels and uneaten oranges in our herb garden. My girlfriend felt violated by the lack of respect for our property. I called Masterscapes to complain about this and they took $10.00 off my bill my bill and send the clean-up crew to remove the concrete from my lawn and the mess that was left behind in the service alley.

They expanded a zone so that a tree of mine would get a part of a zone which previously wasn?t. They fixed some heads that weren?t working. They also replaced the console because it was completely broken.

Arrived on time, had all material delivered the day before they were hard workers finished in one day ?and they cleaned up their mess. there salesman/designer Mike was excellent to work with he gave us ideas that no one else had even bothered to do, he is far more than just a salesman, and then he baby sits the project thru completion my experience was an A+.

He didn't adjust any sprinklers, but just told me I needed a new system for $3600.

I thought a "tuneup" (as advertised in their Angie's List special deal) would mean the technician would check all my sprinkler heads and, for an extra charge, replace any that weren't working. It really only meant an inspection, with recommendations. The guy who came out was punctual and very nice, very professional. Later, after I complained in my review that I didn't receive the service I thought I had signed up for, the owner of the company called me to apologize and promptly refunded my money in full. So, I'm not sure of the quality of work this company does (I couldn't afford to completely re-install my sprinkler system, as was recommended and as I know would be a good idea for my front lawn), but they were certainly responsive, ethical, and professional, which speaks volumes.

Very professional presentation of artificial turf options and ideas for driveway extension. Bid was appropriate for work needed to be done and quality of product used. Removal of existing grass and ground preparation was accomplished quickly and professionally. Work was delayed due to several days of rain. Preparation continued when water receded. Gravel and sand was layed. Some delay occurred in this stage and the application of the artificial grass. Some lack of communication with subcontractors. But once this was corrected work proceeded in a very timely manner. Pavers were layed and looked beautiful. Final look of the artificial grass and paver driveway was excellent. Very pleased with increased curb appeal of our house after job was completed.

We hired Masterscapes to do our backyard landscaping after having a poor experience with another company in the front yard. ?Working with Troy was very positive. ?He provided a detailed drawing of his backyard plan, along with computer generated visuals to help us see what the results would look like. ?In addition, he showed many photographs of other projects he had worked on, giving us lots of good ideas for our backyard. ?We settled on an extension of the covered patio (including pavers over the patio itself...a remarkable transformation!), a raised garden planter, artificial turf area, fire pit, large trees and multiple shrubs and vines. Masterscapes also did the backyard irrigation system. In addition, Troy's crew also straightened out the problems in the front yard: ?poorly designed water lines, dead plants, etc. ?All this and they stayed on budget. ?One last thing, when the end of the garden irrigation line blew off, Darryl came right out and replaced it. A few days later, Troy came by and provided a permanent solution to the problem, helping me install spaghetti lines in order to reduce the water pressure. ?I am confident that if and when other questions/issues come up, Masterscapes will respond with the same professional and courteous assistance. ?Thanks so much!

When I called them, I told the girl that I spoke to what the problem was. I let her know that I had spoken to the manufacturer's technician. The person that came out did not have a part with him. He said that he would have to go back out and get it. I asked why he didn't bring the part, and he said that the girl from the phone didn't know what I was talking about on the phone. He said that he would go to John Deere that is close to my house to pick it up. He said that it would cost $200 for one valve replacement. If I replaced both, it would $300. I was upset that he wouldn't answer if it would have been cheaper if he had the part with him. I should have said no right then. I feel like it could have been done differently for less money. I wasn't too pleased with the way it was done.

Starting from scratch on an extremely large yard, we called for a free estimate to compare to several other estimates we had already received. We had several specific items on our list that were bid by all contractors. Jeremiah, bid on exactly the same items. Additionally, we asked each contractor for suggestions to make the yard most attractive: plants, structure, location, stone, pavers, grass, etc. After listening to our objectives, which included minimal maintenance and water, and walking the entire yard with us, the suggestions flowed from Jeremiah. These were additions and complimentary suggestions that included our own requirements. Jeremiah's experience with plants was especially useful as we had a list of plant we wanted in certain areas of the yard. Understanding the intended purpose of the placement, Jeremiah was able to not only evaluate our list, but make valuable suggestions to meet those intentions. Along with his suggestions, we were assured that he would meet us at the nursery to help pick out the exact plants to be planted in our yard. All the contractors can provide a basic bid. It was Jeremiah's salesmanship and professionalism that got him our contract: He explained everything he suggested and why it would be better; he showed more creativity to improve on our ideas; and he returned in person to answer all our questions and provide samples. The first day on the job, Jeremiah returned again to our house to layout the patio design for the pavers and insure that our hot tub was handled with care. I needed to be convinced to cover my concrete patio with pavers. Why add cost to an already good patio? But after the fact, with the pavers eliminating the step down coming out of our house and the visual expansiveness of the new "paver" patio, I am ecstatic with the results. It looks absolutely fantastic. And the shape of the patio, drawn by Jeremiah, adds new character to our house that the rectangular concrete patio never provided. Teams of workers showed up everyday at sunrise. Tons and tons of rock in different colors were delivered and moved. Hills were created and sections of the yard were outlined with concrete curbing. Three additional irrigation lines were installed. Dozens of plants and trees were delivered and planted. And hundreds of square feet of artificial grass was installed. The job is completed and my wife is very happy with our "Goldilocks" yard. It's not so Spartan that it looks "under landscaped", it's not so over the top that it look audacious. It is very much exactly what we asked for with the improvements and upgrades recommended -- it looks "just right!" Additionally, we added a rain barrel pad, a few tons of matching rock to improve the front yard, and had our "beast" of a tree that looked like a bush, trimmed. Everything was handled to our satisfaction. One exceptional aspect of the crews that worked on our yard was the way they responded to my questions. Having very little expertise in any aspect of the yard upgrade, I would go out a few times a day and ask questions about the timing, direction, sizing, location, and intentions of the work crews. For instance, how did they plan to get irrigation to certain areas when their trenching looked like it would not be possible. Every time, regardless of who I asked on the crew, I was treated respectfully and answered completely to my satisfaction. Regardless of how they might have felt about my questions, I was given their full attention and provided with complete answers. Their regard for my satisfaction was off the charts!

Pointed out the problem and told me how to make the repairs, professional help wasn't necessary. Good job diagnosing the problem.

I called the company once I found them on Angie's List. and the owner of the company came to my home the next day. He was very accurate in his evaluation of the issues: I had a flooding problem due to two faulty irrigation timers. The previous owner had a "handyman" install the irrigation system: cheap timers, multiple water valves, faulty drip lines...etc After recently purchasing my home, the last thing I wanted to do was overhaul my irrigation system. Thats what you get when you work with my Realtor, Ed Surchik; a home inspector that is in his back pocket (that is another review altogether). Bottom line - the home inspector found the system to be in working order. Reality is different. A neighbor informed me that when the home was on the market (vacant) the water system on the side of the home was burglarized. The owner had cheap shoddy work done to patch the problem in order to sell the home. Think the home inspector would have noticed that? Masterscapes owner immediately identified the issue without ever pulling a tool from the truck. He knew that what he was looking at wasn't correct. That alone was enough for me to trust him. He checked each sprinkler head and drip, checked both water timers and opened up each water box. His findings explained why my water bill has been over $140 per month. Ok- You're Hired! Troy came to my home a few days later to capture the details of the project and see if I wanted to capitalize on getting some landscaping work done while the crew was out there. Yes I did. I had 22 new plants and trees planted and the existing irrigation system overhauled. A lot of it was ripped out and new lines were installed. One water box and one water timer were removed due to their redundancy and over-complication. The cost was more than I had anticipated, but at the end of the day it was pretty fair. As consumers we always try to get the most for our money, yet complain when others try to get the most out of us for the least amount. Who doesn't want a raise at work? With the owner coming out initially to see the issue, Troy coming out to evaluate the work to be done, the crew of three men who worked 8 hrs one day and 4 hrs the next, 22 new plants and trees installed, a new irrigation system installed, a six-month guarantee on the plants, plus a professional looking (and very neat) company truck. It was a price I wasn't going to squabble with. These guys are professionals and definitely know their jobs. The head crew guy explained the work done after they cleaned up and put their tools away. He turned on the water system and showed me that everything was working properly. Everyone was friendly and prompt. I have a few more projects planned for my home and Masterscapes will be company I use. Great job.

We recently moved to the Mesa area and the trees and bushes in the house were quickly getting out of control. Masterscapes provided an estimate for trimming the trees and bushes and removing weeds and leaves from both our front and back yards. About a month later we called to have the work completed and they scheduled and completed the work as they estimated. They showed up on time and quickly completed the work. Both our front and back yards look great!!! The team that came to the house were friendly and professional. We will definitely use MasteScapes again.

In January of 2013 I was looking for a landscaper who would design and install a complete back yard that was cozy, inviting and easy to care for, as well as looking great. There were certain thing I wanted in the design (gas fire pit or fire place, gas BBQ hookup, covered dining area and pet friendly plants). I contacted Masterscapes for a free consultation and estimate. They set up an appointment date within a week. Troy Rock their sales rep, arrived on time, he sat with me and listened to what I wanted and was able to give me suggestions on what would work best and look great. One of the issues I was having trouble deciding on was whether to have real or artificial grass. After talking with Troy he convinced me to go with artificial grass. Troy measured everything and we picked the pavers, tile and rock that would look best together, then the plants. I had purchased a grapefruit tree earlier the year before and Troy was happy to pick it up at the nursery and plant it for me in the process. Troy was friendly, professional, knowledgeable and was great to work with. We were able to draw up a design and come to a agreed price. Troy stated the job would take approximately 14-20 days and Masterscapes was able to get started within two weeks. They took care of all the permits and inspections that were required. The awning was delivered prior to the work starting, so on day one they arrived early and got right to work. I was very impressed with the amount of work they were able to do from day to day, their work quality was exceptional and the guys friendly. They made sure to keep the noise down, the site as clean as possible and to lock up on the way out. The girls in the office were fantastic, they called me every day to let me know what the work would be for the next day and when the guys would be there to get started. They completed the job on time with very few surprises and issues. Troy did the final walk through with me, he answered all my questions and concerns, he instructed me on how to use the timer for watering and lighting, maintaining the artificial grass and the work guarantees. Overall, Masterscapes did a wonderful job, I couldn't be happier with the work they did. Every morning is a pleasure to sit, drink my coffee and watch the hummingbirds fight over the feeder. I just love my back yard now. I will recommend them for any landscape job. Thank you so much, Troy and Masterscapes.

They had called to ask about my installation from some time back, I mentioned a plant had died but otherwise things were good, they wanted to come out and fix it. They were very friendly, prompt and fast. And while I mean NO disrespect to anyone, I don't speak Spanish (I wish I did) so I appreciated being able to talk to them easily. When they came as promised I decided to add a few things to the yard and kill off a few bushes that deserved it. They called back the next day and asked to come just a few days after that. Amazingly prompt both times they've been here. That's unfortunately rare, so I want to call that out specifically. Price seemed reasonable and within reason of the armchair math pondered when discussing the new additions to the yard.

Very professional company. Very clean operation and the workers were all very polite and answered all of my questions while the work was in progress. The new sod came in beautifully and with no weeds. After the work was completed I noticed that the sprinkler heads needed adjusting. They responded immediately and since they were adjusted there has not been a problem.

It was great. I think they go a good job. My interactions with them were fine.

Price was low, but great quality of work. Work was done on-time and workers were professional.
