Mike showed up on time. He noticed the coils on our unit were extremely dirty, which wasn't surprising since it's an old house and the previous owners neglected to take care of anything. Mike used a special camera to show me the dirty coils, and I agreed to have him clean them. Mike spent a long time cleaning the coils. I really liked how Mike was a no pressure kind of guy. He simply told me what he found, explained what needed to be done in order to help lengthen my already old A/C's life span, and left it to me to decide. Mike did a great job and I wouldn't hesitate to hire them again for any future problems.

I just had Howard Air perform an A/C tune up back in May, but being an old A/C, it stopped working. We called Howard Air immediately and they were at our home within hours. I was ready for the bad news that ole Bessy died and we would have to replace her, but the tech (I can't remember his name, but a really nice guy!) checked everything out and found it was just a loose wire. A loose wire! Howard Air just saved me from having to fork out money I don't have just yet for a new A/C system. They are truly a very honest company and they really show they care. Of all the things we have to deal with in our fixer upper home, it's nice to know we have a good A/C company to rely on. We love these guys!

After just recently moving into our new home, we called Howard Air, after seeing their great reviews, to do an inspection of our unit. We had noticed water dripping out of the exterior upper overflow line. What we thought was build up in a line was actually years of compounding issues that had never been addressed -- beginning with poor installation of the original AC unit by the builder of the home. The technician who did the initial inspection, David, was incredibly professional and informative. He knew that we had just moved into the home and we were devastated by the news and felt like fools for not looking further into this issue during our inspection period. Once we realized the system was beyond economical repair due to age and extent of issue, David called back to the office and let them know we'd be needing an estimate for the new system. Before David had even left the house, Howard Air called us to schedule a follow up meeting. Brian came our to our house to prepare the estimate for us. He was incredibly professional, informative, detail oriented and friendly. He told us all about Howard Air and the company's engineering background--how they have engineers on staff to make sure every aspect of the install (AC/heat pump unit size, ductwork, plenum) is correct for each individual home. He took laser measurements of the home, did a full walk through, and prepared an estimate while still at our house. Brian also gave us uWe felt the pricing to be fair, but wanted to get additional bids just to make sure we were being thorough. Two other companies came out. The first company didn't measure the home or the windows, but did visual estimate of window size and went off of the county assessor's website information -- which is not always reliable. He came back with very different calculations than Howard Air and told us we'd need a larger size unit, 5 ton--one ton greater than our existing, for our house -- which we later found out to be the largest size residential AC unit available (and we live in a 1-story 1700 sq ft home!). The next company to come out also used the assessor's website information, but took measurements of our windows. He recommended a smaller unit, 3.5 ton--half a ton less than existing. We questioned this smaller size, and he reassured us it was the correct size for this house, despite our vaulted ceilings throughout the house. After getting three very different estimates (we couldn't even compare apples to apples, it was more like apples to oranges) on needed sizes of AC units and the varying prices, we realized that the only way to know for sure what this house needed was to rely upon the company with the most thorough estimate -- the one that was based upon laser measurements and double checked by engineers on staff -- and that was Howard Air. Not only was Howard Air's assessment most accurate, but their prices were incredibly fair. Although each company recommended different size units, we were able to approximate what the cost of the unit suggested by Howard Air would have cost from the other two companies, and Howard Air's prices were either better or the same. Not only do they have good prices, but the company takes great pride in their work and they provide a 5 year guarantee on labor/installation on top of the 10/10 year warranty provided by the manufacturers -- and that blew the competition away (one did not offer guarantee on labor and the other offered one year). Also included in the install is one year of service for the machine -- Howard Air comes out for the winter/summer inspection periods to make sure all is well. Installation of the new unit went quickly. The two installers (I didn't remember their names) were very professional, went through a multi-stepped process for the install, put down drop clothes to protect the home, and were respectful of our property. Overall, we were incredibly pleased with Howard Air and their staff. We absolutely will recommend this company and Brian's services to anyone who needs AC/Heating help.

Everything went well with them. They were prompt and explained the work they were going to do. The person who came out went over different models and allowed me to choose the one I thought would work best. I chose a Carrier model. Besides the installation, they also had to do some sheet metal work on one unit as well. I had an issue with one of them and they came out immediately, found the issue and fixed it.

Although one of the 2 service guys told me the temperature of the air coming out of the A/C vents in the house was just right, the other service guy told me I needed 2 ibs of refrigerant. I don't know that there is a significant connection between the 2 or not, so I told him ok. For the 2lbs of refrigerant I was charged $143.16. It's unfortunate that this is the type of service that you are completely at their mercy. So maybe they deserve an A rating, or possibly a C rating: I do not have the knowledge to make an accurate assessment. I was obviously hoping for just a tune up and that would be it. But I ended up paying an extra $143 for something I cannot confirm I needed.

The company tried to do an emergency fix for me until I had the money for the new unit, but because of the age of my mobile home the wiring could not handle the temporary fix, so they searched their inventory to find one that could be used on my home and found a new unit. It was reasonable priced. They kept in contact with me until the issue had been resolved and I had cool air. I would highly recommend this company. My sales person was Will Smith.

It was all good. I spent some more money with them to replace the air conditioning system for $6500. It's fine, they did a good job, they were very professional and because they were A- rated by Angie's List that 's why we considered using them. They gave me a discount and I had another company that charged me about $400 more than Howard Air and they also had good ratings on Angie's List but I chose the one with good reviews and a cheaper price.

We were not impressed with the service we received from the Howard Air technician. After doing the inspection on the air handlers in the attic, he scribbled a few numbers on his notepad and just kept trying to convince us to purchase the deluxe service plan for $400 in addition to what we had already paid for the tune up. He seemed put off whenever we questioned the numbers he was providing and asked him about alternative options. We will be searching for another company for future service on our A/C equipment.

They were on time, had all the right equipment, were very professional and informative.
Description of Work: They performed our routine yearly service and cleaned the unit which is on the second floor. I might add we also bought our unit from Howard Air five years ago on a recommendation of a friend. This year we had him reseal the tar that our home owners assoc. was suppose to do when they do roofing repairs. It has cut our electric bill by about 25%. I highly recommend them!

My A/C unit wasn't cooling so I decided to start with an A/C tune up and went with Howard based on reviews. I purchased a coupon and made an appointment. I had to wait a bit for my appointment but i believe this is to be expected in the Valley of the Sun during the summer months. My technician arrived on time, was very professional, explained what he was doing and why the unit wasn't cooling properly. Everything works great. I'll be using Howard for my regular tune up as well as any other problems. I've already recommended Howard to my father.

It was the first time I used them. I have annual tune up every year, I think he is one of the best people that I have ever used. They were efficient. They gave me advice on my unit, because my unit is getting old. They didn't try to pester me into getting a new unit or to doing unnecessary repairs. I just thought they were quite professional and I would definitely use them again.

My AC wasn't working well (which of course always happens in the heat of the summer) and so I called the company. They advertised 24 hour emergency service, so at 9pm at night when I couldn't sleep because it was too hot, I called their answering service. After just a few minutes I received a call back however was taken aback when the man failed to introduce himself or company. I had to ask, "So are you from the AC company?" He said yes... Then I asked " from Howard Air" and all he said was "Yes". After what seemed like forever without the man asking anything or telling me his name, I explained my problem. I said that the AC failed to cool to less than 84 and that is in the night time, and that I've already tried replacing the filter, turning off the unit, and flipping the breaker. I had to ask him is there anything else I could do. All he said was "NO". I had to ask, "well will the company call me in the morning or do I have to call back?" He said NO they will call me. So I hung up without any plan and waited until the morning. In the AM, Howard Air did call, and set up an appointment between 2 and 5. At 1:45 they called and asked if they could be there in 15 minutes, and arrived at 2 on the button. The very nice man, whose name I cannot recall at the moment, spent a good hour on my roof in the heat.Unfortunately he gave me very bad news saying that although he could replace a relay switch, the compressor was so bad that he couldn't even tell what else was wrong with it. A compressor would cost approx $3200. He was very polite and kind, but couldn't do much for me at this time. Another team would need to be sent out at no charge to give an estimate for AC replacement. So all in all, the gentleman was very nice and personable but my problem is yet to be resolved.

They did not install it optimally, but they were very responsive about coming back and doing what should have been done the first time. And they also extended my contract by a year as a courtesy. I am disappointed that I have not seen a reduction in my electric bill that I expected having replaced a 15 year old unit.

Job was very well done and very professional all the way. Would hire them again and highly recommend them.
Description of Work: New Heat Pump installed. Gary & Jeff were the installers and they did a very professional job. Scott gave me quote on the install which I thought was a very fair price. It was explained to me how they were going to do it, I was very happy with all my contacts with them and there work.

I bought a Big Deal A/C tuneup. Howard Air had great communication with regards to first contact and setting up service. Technician came out and performed the tuneup. I pointed out I was getting low flow out of a vent. He went in the attic and noticed problems with the duct work. He gave me an estimate on the spot. I decided to have him come back out to do the work. Always arrived on time with a phone call before he arrived. Very professional all around. Very happy on my end.

It turned out fine. There was a part that needed to be replaced. It was my first time using them. The technician seemed competent. He presented himself well and he arrived in a timely manner. Everything was professional.
Description of Work: I have been using a Big Deal for Howard Air. They checked the Freon, he washed out the vents and he made sure that the drainage thing on the roof is working. It was a long list of stuff that they did.
