The tenant at my rental house called to let me know that the furnace seemed to have a gas smell and that it was not lit. So, she turned off the gas. I immediately called Howard Air to come out to inspect. They first told me to contact the gas company since the gas company would come out to inspect right away. The gas company came out immediately since this is considered an emergency and determined that there was a problem with the furnace and that the gas should remain off until fixed. Then, I contacted Howard Air again to come out to inspect. Howard Air informed me that the heat exchanger was cracked, which is dangerous, and that the furnace would need to be replaced. The next day, they sent a salesman to inspect and provide an estimate on replacement. After receiving an estimate, I told the salesman (Brian) that I would need to get a second estimate before agreeing to their proposal. However, after hanging up the phone, I decided to call back to see if they would apply the discount coupon from Angie's list to the purchase and installation of the furnace. Brian was able to contact the office to get agreement to apply the coupon, which is normally applied for a complete system rather than just a furnace. Since, they agreed to apply the coupon, I went with Howard Air. Howard Air arrived to install the furnace the next day. The installation was done in a timely manner, and the tenant was very pleased with the work they did. I was able to see the installation later. It looked well-done. But, there were two joints on the duct work exiting the furnace that did not have the aluminum tape applied as was done for the other duct joints. I asked the salesman why that was not also taped. He said it was not needed. After I requested, he had the installation technician call to explain why, which the technician did. It still seems to me that it should have been done since it is simple enough to do. I may still tape it myself. Brian said that a final invoice would be emailed to me as was done for the proposal. I called a couple of days later to request the invoice from Brian and also sent him a text message on the phone and an email. But, still did not receive a response or the invoice. This is typical of what I have seen with service companies. The response seems generally slower after the sale, which I do not like. I called the office more than a week later, and they emailed the final invoice that day, I marked this review that I would use Howard Air again since there is not a choice to say I'm not sure. Overall, I think I would use them again. But, due to the response of getting my invoice after service, I would definitely also consider other companies in the future.

After purchasing the Pre season checks on Angie's list, I was contacted by the office for scheduling. The gentleman who called explained everything in detail and was very professional. The technician arrived as expected , was very nice and professional, performed thorough checks and took the time to orient my father to the different adjustments on the thermostat which has sometimes been confusing for him (and for me). The technician even called me to tell me how everything checked out and to discuss options for installing an easier to use thermostat for us on a future visit (which I had inquired about when I scheduled the service). Overall very satisfied with the service and will definitely use them for our needs form here forward.

Great experience right from the beginning! We met with three contractors before calling Howard Air. We are so happy we found them because their approach to customizing the system to your specific needs is far ahead of the others we talked to who just wanted to sell us a standard install. Our house presented some space challenges that needed customization of the air handler. They designed a custom metalwork solution in their facility that when installed, looks beautiful. We are detail-oriented people who really appreciate the workmanship and easy installation process we experienced. We continue to have them do the maintenance on our system and have referred them to our friends / clients with confidence. We couldn't be happier!

He brought a problem up to our notice. He found one of our green lines wasn't hooked up properly. It cost more than the Big Deal. He wanted like $125 to hook up the drain to the can and this is one of the problems with the air conditioning because it was on the ceiling. I'm an older woman and I can't get up to the ceiling to look at it so you have to rely on the people. I tried to get them to take pictures of what he was talking about and he was very reluctant to do that. I was not comfortable with what he was telling me. He did his job and he wasn't interested in going the extra mile.

They did a good work and I'll continue to use them. They're prompt, very courteous, they explained everything they're doing, very professional and I've been please the two or three times they've been out here. In fact after they did the work, the furnaces weren't going on. So I called them and they came out and realized they had forgotten some switch on to the furnaces; they didn't charge us. Their price is competitive.
Description of Work: Howard Air did a winter check up of the two furnaces that we have. They had to replace one part.

Howard Air are great. The salesman was knowledgeable. He let us choose what we wanted. They did the job well. They didn't mess the house up. They cleaned up afterwards. The house was clean, after they did all that work.

The service was really good. The guy that came out did a great job. They did double bill me and they did credit that back. It did take a while to get scheduled but the technician was very good, he was very thorough with the service.
Description of Work: This was a Big Deal for $69.00 for summer A/C inspection, cleaning, & tune-up. He did put freon in for me as well.

There was an issue when they came out and they ended up taking care of that issue as well. I did pay additional for the repair and I thought the price was fair. I knew going in to the service it would be extra as the system was not working. I would use them again when needed.

I wanted just the evaluation and they gave a full evaluation. I have not had further work done at this time but they did honor the Big Deal. They scheduled the work very quickly and the guy that came spent quite a bit of time checking out the system. They checked the air conditioning ducts as well. They did provide a call back and I thought the service was very good.
Description of Work: This was a Big Deal for a Howard Air tune-up. They did this on the air conditioning system and they did a diagnostic on what might need work in the future.

Bryan was timely, friendly, professional. There was no pressure to purchase the part. He educated me about the purpose of the part and listed the pros/cons of leaving it in place.

I cannot praise Howard Air enough. Howard Air is a company that sets the standards, not just for HVAC but how business should be conducted. Everyone I was in contact with was professional, personable, and truly cared about what they do. They all seemed very well educated in their profession. Jack and Paul were exceptional. Troy Lee was great to work with, he made me feel confident to choose Howard Air. Not to forget all the other guys that were here on site but I don?t have all there names.
Description of Work: I have a whole house duct work retro-fit. I remodeled a house and we put the duct work on the roof to give more interior space. This was a big job very commercial in application. I did a 90% remodel of this house and Howard Air was the best of all the companies I worked with. I always interview 3-5 companies before I hire anyone. If I could I would give a A+++++++ on all category's People please remember it not the price you judge a company by but what you get for the money.

Very Prompt and Professional. Everyone from the phone contact to the installers were courteous and took time to explain everything no matter how often my elderly mother asked! When her old unit stopped working suddenly they brought out a space heater to keep her warm. Installation was faster than they had anticipated. A+

They checked my A/C at two different houses, and gave me an estimate for a replacement system. While their quote was competitive, I found better pricing elsewhere. Scheduling was easy and they did what they said they'd do.

Our air conditioner units (heat pumps) were ~ 20 years old and not clear they would make it thru another year. We had 3 companies come out and bid the job. Howard Air price was the same as the other 2 but for better units (more SEER). They were also the only ones to point out that the original installation (the units were about a foot apart) would make the units much more inefficient (checked online they should be farther apart) and so their proposal included separating them. Based on conversations about issues we were having they added an air return in one upstairs room and new vents in 2 others. They also had to relo a fence to accommodate the new compressor layout and did a great job with that. They performed the work over two days and did a great job. We dealt with Brian Knoblock and he was professional, very responsive, and hit all the commitments he gave us.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. They came out right away and they didn't charge anymore. It was still under warranty so they told me to call the company that sold it to me. I was able to get a new motor right at the very last day. They were terrific.
Description of Work: I used Howard Air to clean the HVAC and they found that the motor was bad.

After purchasing the deal, he called to schedule the appointment. The man was very pleasant and knowledgeable. He completed the work in a timely manner and cleaned up after the job was complete. Everything turned out great!
