Howard Air

Setting up an appointment was very easy. Howard Air was responsive and were able to fit into my schedule with ease. On the day of the appointment, I got a call letting me know when the provider would arrive, which helped me plan my day. When Bryan arrived he was friendly, punctual, and explained exactly what my inspection would entail. It was an inspection of my AC units, but he also checked my thermostats and changed the filters for me. I had forgotten that I have 2 units so he said he would do the inspection the other unit and charge me the Angie's List price for that as well. The initial inspection/tune-up took about an hour. My two units are 19 year old Tranes, and there were a few worn out parts. He showed me, with photos, the parts that would need replacing and what would happen if I did or did not replace. For example, one part could just "go" during the heat of summer, but another part he said I could get away with fixing later. As a woman with very little knowledge about electronics, I always am skeptical of "this needs repairing" spiels. But, in the case of Bryan, I really felt he was not out to make a buck off of me, and he seemed genuine and interested in making sure I understood what he was explaining to me. Howard Air also offers several programs to pay for it- I opted for a 1 year multi-visit program that includes some parts (including parts I was getting that day) included, and it also includes a winter visit (where they check my furnace) and a visit next spring. It is a program designed for old, rickety units like mine. Paying tuition for two children right now makes me want my AC to last a couple of more years. After I selected the replacements/repairs I wished to have completed, he did them right then. It took another hour or so, but when he left there was nothing lying around, no garbage, it was tidy. Overall, I had a very positive experience with Howard Air. Bryan was very pleasant, and knowledgable. He gave me his card and said I could request him specifically, or have anyone do the follow up care. I felt they provided quality service and I feel more secure knowing I have someone to call if the units decide to go on the fritz. I would recommend Howard Air without hesitation.

Recently relocated to the East Valley from out of state. One of the things that our home inspector recommended was that we have our AC checked more thoroughly. We carried out some online research and contacted Howard Air to set up an appointment. Tina took my call and kindly set up an appointment for the same day which was a pleasant and unexpected surprise. Bryan, the tech that was assigned to us was friendly and professional. He did an outstanding job performing the standard service call. He took multiple photos of our A/C/Heat Pump unit which is located up on the roof of our home. He then showed me thephotos of several components of our A/C system and fully explained their function and why they needed to be replaced in order for our system to run more efficiently. The price quoted was very competitive as well. We gave Bryan the green light to proceed and he replaced the components, added additional Freon and even kindly washed our permanent filter (he explained how important it is to keep this filter clean and to do this each month to ensure unrestricted airflow) and even installed a ptrap in our condensation pipe without charge. Bryanwas asked about several photos of our A/C unit that were taken by our inspector and there were several items that he said did not need to be worked on at this time as they were actually in good condition. I appreciate Bryan's integrity and this reflects well not only on him, but on Howard Air too. Bryan also immediately emailed us our invoicewhen we paid with our credit card.We appreciate that paperless option for our records. Bryan, thanks for doing such a great job for us and we look forward to having you come out again for our next service this coming fall for the heat pump. Great job Howard Air!

I made the reservation and scheduled a 5/2 visit at 9AM. I was waiting at the home and finally had to call someone to find out what had happened because nobody showed up. Somehow my appointment had been confused with another person. So, I wasted time waiting for an appointment that was never properly recorded. They rescheduled for 5/5 at 7AM. The 5/5 visit was fine. The technician arrived on time and finished the work he needed to along with an inspection and recommendation of what needed to be done. 6/2: I had to have some drywall removed in order to give the Howard technician access to the unit he needed. I was able to call Howard Air and have them speak with the person removing the drywall, directly. That was nice becauseI was afraid I would screw it up. 6/3: Today they came and completed the full service of items I purchased during the 5/5 visit. It was a great visit. The expected time frame was between 8AM- 12PM. The technician called me at 8:30AM to let me know he was on his way. He showed up exactly at the time he stated. He walked through the repairs he was doing. Also, he happened to park in front of the lawn during the day the trash people were coming and he made sure to watch for them. He moved his truck when they arrived so I didn't miss my trash collection. He also locked the house appropriately and sent me my invoice via email. There were no surprises or last minute charges. Despite the rough start, it turned out to be a good experience. I will use them in the future.

I purchased the a/c tune up from Howard Air. The service man, Joel, was extremely professional, knowledgable, and timely. He advised me of some work that I might need on my a/c unit in the future, so I can start budgeting accordingly.

Had ordered service for the AC tune up via Angie's list. The unit is 3 yrs old and had never been serviced. It took time to schedule Howard Air - around 3 weeks but guess that means they are good and have a full calendar. There was a misunderstanding initially of what was purchased but Kimber from Howard Air was able to clear it up. The service went well. Julio the tech., was well informed and courteous. He explained what he was doing. Also I was able to understand from him some merits and de-merits of some of the thermostats that I was evaluating.The service lasted for about an hour and I would certainly use Howard Air the next time around

Service went well. Dave showed up a little bit early. Was very professional. Inspected everything, showed me the issues with the system & service that was recommended. Told me I should consider a new AC system since mine was pretty old and is showing signs that it may not last much longer. Did not push for the new system at all but just made the suggestion as something to consider. I opted to just do repairs and Dave did a good job getting the work done. He was very personable and professional.

Replacement of the capacitor was more costly than anticipated, but unit works smoother than before.

David was here right on time. Very professional, went right to work. David performed the standard 44 point check. He found some loose wires on the outdoor unit. He said a spark from these wires could have caused a fire. He answered all my husbands questions and gave us a thumbs up. We have used Howard Air before and will continue to use them.

Excellent experience. Prompt, courteous, professional, and thorough. There was no "overselling" and an excellent review of what was found given. Will absolutely use again.

They came out the next day I believe, scheduled the replacement the day after that so they were very quick. They were a little bit more expensive than everybody else but they did do quality work.

Technician was on time, friendly and professional. He thoroughly cleaned the outside units of dirt and debris, around and inside the devices. Answered all questions and recommended things I could do for the systems before he comes back for the next tune-up in the fall. Very satisfied.

I bought a deal for $98 but paid extra for an additional A/C system.

Very well, Dave was very informative, cleaned up well, quite knowledgeable. He did not try to sell anything that I did not need like most A/C service try to do. It was a pleasurable experience.

I have replaced a lot of air conditioners over the years and Howard Air is by far the best of the best! The price was competitive, I didn't feel as though I was ripped off! Their salesman Brian was just awesome. The crew was timely and professional. They went above and beyond in every way. I will never use another again. I am one very happy customer. Thank you to Howard Air for being honest, professional, timely, friendly, careful, etc, etc etc!!! Pleasantly surprised!!!

Bought the A/C tune up. By total chance, the day before the appointment, the A/C compressor started making an odd noise. Technician identified the fan unit was failing. He outlined multiple options for us - repair fan, replace fan, etc. He also encouraged us to consider replacing the whole unit, because he noted the age of the 22 year old system and the very high energy consumption. Because this was all happening in July, we were concerned that we not lose the A/C, and Howard had an engineer come to our house after hours the same night. He spent over an hour crawling in our hot attic and looking at the entire system so he could give us the complete story on what it would take to replace the system. It was clear he was trying to give us the best system for our needs vs. upselling us. We ended up buying a complete HVAC system. He added in APS rebates and even deducted the original $99 tune up. Here's where it gets interesting. Two days later, our old A/C failed completely. Howard apparently has a policy that their customers always stay cool, so they brought in a temporary unit at their own expense to keep us cool while the system we ordered was in transit. We were never hot a single day. Installation experience was fantastic. Professional, fast, clean - you'd never know we had workers doing a major job at the house. This year, before the heat came, Howard Air came back to make sure everything was working properly and to change the filters. These guys are absolutely amazing.

Howard Air is a PLEASURE to work with; thank you Betty, Kaylee, Brian, Gary and Kyle! Their entire staff is courteous and professional. We set up an appointment for Howard Air to evaluate what would be the best replacement for our older unit. They gave us a couple of options. The day of installation, they arrived to do the work in a timely manner and were very good about cleaning up and explaining how to use the new thermostat, before they left. Ready, and more efficiently prepared, for another AC season in AZ!

The technician arrived in the quoted window with a call from his previous stop to let me know he was on his way. He listened to my description of the problem and my unconfirmed concerns and quickly identified the problem of a burned out control board on the air handler. (And yes, my aux heat was constantly engaged.) Not having that particular replacement on hand (and why would he,) he consulted with a colleague by phone to establish a safe work around for my system while the part could be ordered and installed. I lost the heat pump and aux heat while on the bypass, but that was not needed at this time of year. He then checked the rest of the system to make sure there were not any other issues. Surprisingly, he was apologetic that he had to charge me for the part before they ordered it. That makes perfect sense to me, if they order it and I choose to get someone else to get one and do the replacement, they are out that cost. I was quoted potentially up to two weeks to get the part and schedule a follow up, which was fine since I had a safe, working system in the meantime. I don't know if the part arrived quicker than expected or they had an unexpected opening in the schedule, but they actually called me the next day and scheduled the replacement for the day after that. Since I had paid for the part up front there was no additional charge for the service call to replace it, and now my system is working as designed once again.

I bought this deal as a gift for my son. He was very satisfied with the service. Other than that, I cannot make any further comments.

It was established that it was preferable to get a new AC -mine is almost 12 years and is used a LOT in AZ! The new one will be installed by Howard Air on 5/21. I am able to finance this project for 60 months/.no interest. I chose a TRANE. To be continued....

They advertise the unit. The didn't put any restriction on the ad. [8:18]. When I made the appointment they showed. They didn't do the work. They had no disclaimer on the advertisement. [8:57]. I wouldn't recommend them.

We had a groupon or something. We had tried other companies in the past that would find problems and charge more for Freon but they try to educate you on any problems. We have a contract for a year and come out twice a year. They have had to replace parts so it is worth it for us, parts that wear over time. They might be a little more expensive but I feel the quality is worth it. I have never had to use them for an emergency but preventative maintenance is easy to schedule.

They were a wonderful company. I would use them again. They are nice people.
