Howard Air

Howard Air is a very service oriented business. Whenever I call with a question, I feel as if Rocky or Cheryl know me personally and will do everything they can to take care of me as a customer. Scott Bird did an oustanding job designing the solution for our home - and it works beautifully. We had a similar system installed at a rental property, but it does not run anywhere near as quietly as the installation from Howard Air. But these are not the reasons that Howard Air differentiated themselves from the rest. We had two manfacturer's issues with equipment installed - and Howard Air was incredibly fast at driving resolutions. One of the two roof-mounted HVAC's we had installed was "Dead on Arrival" - and they had it replaced within two days. The second unit that was installed had a bad part that prevented the heater from engaging (not a big deal in AZ summer) - and they kept me appraised of the status of that part until it arrived. I'm sure there are companies that could perform HVAC service for lower fees - but when I consider the level of service that I received along with the professionalism of the entire company at Howard Air - there is no question that their reputation of "Super Service Winners" is well earned. It was a pleasure doing business with these guys. Thanks to Scott, Rocky, Forrest, and everyone at Howard Air.

They did a really good job. They just seemed to know what they were doing. The times they said they would be here, they were here. They weren’t cheap, but they did the right job so it won’t break again. They were also here 6 months ago to fix the heat, so we called them again.

They were very courteous and wore booties to keep my floors clean. They kept me updated on what they were doing. They cleaned up well when they were finished. I highly recommend them.

Three installers arrived on time and it was obvious to me that they know exactly what they were doing and were experienced professionals in all aspects of installing my split a/c system. They installed the a/c coil system outside, the attic air handler (furnace), new return air flow vent and a very nice programable thermostat. They did metal work, fixed duct work that needed better air flow and answered any and all of my questions to my satisfaction. Matt was very helpful explaining the workings of the new thermostat. It was a very good experience and I can't wait for summer to start!!

They scheduled me at my convenience and called prior to coming. Service person was very neat and professional. He suggested, but did not push, a part which did make sense in addition to adding needed coolant. Also rewired fan which was incorrectly wired when the unit was probably installed prior to my owning the house. Cost seemed fair but do not have anything to compare it too. 10% Angie's coupon was nice.

I had some problem with my air condition. I called them and they came out and identified the problem. They were honest and kind enough to let me know that it was a warranty work that was not done correctly. So I was able to get my air condition fixed under warranty. I would use them in the future too.

I received a call at exactly the time I instructed to setup an appointment officially, the tech called me about 30 minutes before he would arrive and he arrived on time. He then checked all parts of the a/c system and replaced some missing insulation that I was not aware about. Overall I was very happy with my experience. The process only took about an hour to complete.

Howard Air's bid was not the lowest, however, prior dealings with them on the maintenance side (prior residence) along with a very favorable pre-sale experience and spotless record (ACC, Board of Contractors, BBB and Angie's List) they were given the sale. They met or exceeded all expectations in pre planning, installation and follow up. It was a pleasure dealing with Matt Callahan, he is extremely knowledgeable and professional as was the entire installation crew. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

My experience with them was great. They were timely, explained things and reviewed things. I asked them a lot of questions. The guys who came to install the unit were also very good and explained things.

My old A/C was on its last legs. I called three major companies for bids. Howard Air was not only the lowest bidder, but they offered the best unit of the bunch. The salesman was on time for the appointment, and came well prepared. One of the bidders would not agree to leave key information regarding service guarantees stating that "the competition might get their hands on it." Howard Air was very straight-forward, and were glad to leave me as much detail in writing as I desired. Their terms were even better than their nervous competitor. The install team was punctual, professional, clean, and fast. Great attention to detail. Every wire was tied, every tube insulated, and they even put "booties" on their shoes before they came inside. They also do a quality inspection after the install, and in my case they filled in all the government and APS rebate paperwork. I am very satisfied with Howard Air.

I called Howard Air for the yearly furnace check-up even though I had not had them inspect the furnace for at least 3 years. When David inspected the furnace he found where the control box had overheated. He took a picture of the inside of the box and brought it to me and showed me where the wires/box had started heating and turned part of the inside of the box brown. He explained what needed to be done and told me what it would cost. David was very thorough and answered all of my question. I was lucky I called Howard Air when I did or I could have started the unit on fire when I turned my heater on.

Prompt, efficient, knowledgeable, and honest.

The price that Howard Air quoted was reasonable. The person who came was very prompt and good.

My husband and I were thrilled that we used Angie's recommendation and hired Howard Air, (Scott Bird) to take care of our air conditioning. Scott arrived at the time stated and was meticulous in inspecting our complete AC unit. (outside and up in the attic) He said we did not need to spend the thousands suggested by the home inspector and spent time telling us 'why'. Our AC has been running beautifully and very efficiently. It is a pleasure to work with a company with high standards and who are VERY honest and reliable. Thank you Angie's list for another great recommendation!

Overall - well. The technician was professional and very understanding of the cost involved. While the price for the motor seemed high, the Angie's List discount brought it into what I believe was reasonabe for the time and work involved.

Spurred by noticing that my evaporator coil was showing its age in corrosion and never being really happy with the way it was installed years ago by another company, I called Howard Air to give me an estimate on its replacement. Joe came out and took a bunch of measurements and pictures and the job was scheduled. The technician, Steve, arrived in a clean well equipped service vehicle and worked tirelessly to do a very clean and professional replacement. Subsequently, the system performance deteriorated and Ryan was dispatched to diagnose the problem. He too, arrived on time, worked hard to diagnose and fix the problem, but found that additional components had failed and the system required more extensive repair than he was able to complete that night. As is, he stayed hours overtime and tried to get me by until the real repair could be performed. The next day, Patrick brought additional parts and also worked overtime to try and bring the system up to specs but it was too far gone to work efficiently without some major additional work. He took his inability to patch the old system personally and worked as if it would be HE that would be without AC that night if he failed! Ultimately, Brian and Richard arrived a few days later and working harder than anyone could have asked for in 115 degree heat both outside and in the garage where the air handler was, replaced the faulty components and repaired the system completely. It's now working efficiently, quietly, and perfectly. As I watched each person who was dispatched to my house work, I was thoroughly impressed with their knowledge, skill, and above all their concern for MY well being, budget, and satisfaction. That kind of service is very rare and that kind of attitude and professionalism MUST come from a company culture of treating customers right in every way. Howard Air is, in my opinion, a rare company, run by a principled owner, and staffed by employees who have all adopted the company philosophy of putting the customer first. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! I know that such glowing praise will make you think I'm related to the owner or I somehow "own stock" in the company, but I assure you that I am just a regular homeowner that made the call to Howard Air based on their previous reviews on Angie's List, and I am so very glad I did.

The AC broke during the night and we woke up very hot! Called Howard Air about 8:30am and Pat Nelson was here about 2:30. The repair took about 90 minutes including diagnostics, but we did not have to replace the unit and we already have cool air again at 5PM. If anything else goes wrong and we do need more work in the next 90 days, today's cost will be taken into account. I could not have asked for better service.

I chose them because I'd had a good experience with them servcing my old system. The were one of two installers who provided a bid for the service. Their bid was far more detailed and competitive and they gave me an additional discount because I was an existing customer. Installation took most of a day. They set it up and showed me how everything worked. I was pleased, but they had just gotten started. A supervisor came out about 10 days later and did a detailed review of the work. He then scheduled another installer to come in to "tweak" the installation to be sure it all worked at peak efficiency. They processed the APS paperwork for the rebate and gave me the forms to use for the tax credits. I could not be more pleased with the new system.

Both activities were booked and followed up by the office scheduler at the Howard Air office. Each task was handled individually by very well trained technicians. Our overall experience with Howard Air was outstanding. Everyone we worked with was courteous and very professional. In the future, we plan to use Howard Air for all our heating and cooling needs.

They are very accommodating to your schedule. They took their time to show me how to do the installation. The guy put some booties over his shoes and that was a nice touch. I had a little problem and he came back within the hour. They were very polite and I have referred them to a friend.

I invited quotes from three Phoenix metro area HVAC firms. One was a firm I have done business with in the past. Oddly enough, given the recession, they never followed up. The second was one of the largest HVAC firms in this area. The third was Howard Air. I received a bid from the second and third firms, the pricing was comparable and, hence, not a determining factor in my selection process. I was more interested in quality of service and customer-friendly business philosophy than price. The salesmen for both companies that bid were excellent, although I would have to say that Matt Callahan from Howard Air had the edge due to his warm, thoughtful approach to the business and inherent trustworthiness. I checked out all three companies with BBB and Angie's List. All three had A+ ratings at BBB, which means that they had resolved all customer complaints received at BBB in the past 36 months, BUT, while two of them had a lot of complaints, Howard Air had none - zero! - submitted to BBB. That means that Howard Air either did everything right the first time or, if not, then made things right with their customers without forcing them to resort to a third party for dispute resolution. When I thought of all the time and agony that the other firms put their customers thru by not fixing complaints on their own, I saw a huge plus in doing business with Howard Air. The reports on Angie's list told a much truer story on customer satisfaction than BBB.. Howard Air has a perfect rating of all A's by almost a hundred customers, while the other firms only rated B's! Thank you, Angie! The installation was completed on time as promised, the removal of the old equipment and the clean-up afterwards were all done to delight the customer. Ten days after the installation, Forrest, the chief technical person at Howard Air, came out with Matt to inspect and sign off on the installation. Everything was done perfectly, and I could not be happier with my decision to use this company.

Overall the job was done to perfection. The pricing and quality of work by Howard Air is a rarity in Arizona for Air Conditioning.

Very happy with Howard Air thus far and the installation is done for the first day and will continue to the second day. Estimated to have everything done by 2 days. Very nice people from Howard Air and strongly recommend for anyone to use them.

The folks at Howard Air were extremely responsive after my heat went out over the holidays. After a desperate phone call on New Year's Eve, they came out to assess my Heat/AC unit after a previous company mis-diagnosed the problem. Although the work was ultimately performed by another company (family friend/contact) after the holiday, I would highly recommend this caring company and will use them in the future.
