Description of Work: Replaced burnt out contact. Cleaned and serviced unit. They came out one hour after I called on a Saturday.Amazing and No extra charge for weekend. Very nice and explained everything done and did not try to sell me a new unit when they saw it was 18 yrs old.

Description of Work: My refrigerator had been making a slight noise, when the compressor turned on - not each time, but consistently enough that I decided to have an appliance & repair company take a look at it. This noise had been occurring approximately 18 months, after moving into the valley. |The technician was punctual, he did not introduce himself, but immediately began running diagnostics. At the conclusion of his service he stated that my compressor was "going out".....that I should go buy a new refrigerator or buy a new compressor from his company. Coincidentally, less than 12 hours after departing my house, I noticed a puddle of water on the floor - yep, the compressor had stopped functioning. I'm not sure how others feel about coincidences but I wasn't happy that I had a bunch of food that was going to spoil, if I didn't take action immediately. Once I had taken care of that crisis, I decided to call Valley Heating, and to my surprise they acted as if I had possibly damaged the compressor and made it stop working - after all, it was working fine when their tech was here.....the more I talked with this guy, the more he made it clear that his company had no responsibility to what had just happened. He would be glad to make repairs, in approx one week, after they could get the pieces needed into their stock......it wasn't until I told him, that his choice of words & general attitude, left me with nothing other than to "light him up" on my Angie's list review. I hung up on him, and after he heard those words, he immediately started calling back & had completely changed his attitude & tone - in fact, he magically 'found' a compressor and could come out the very next morning to make repairs. |Stay away from these guys - they only want your money, even if they have to break your appliance to achieve that goal.

Description of Work: I don't exactly recall what they worked on. I believe it was something to do with the thermostat inside the cooling sudden which is 17 years old. Home was built in 1998. I will ask my husband for more info. He isn't home now.

Description of Work: Our upright freezer had quit working three months prior to our service call. We needed to know if the freezer was worth keeping. The gentleman from Valley Heating Cooling and Appliance was very professional and kind. He could find nothing wrong with it so he just plugged it in and it has worked just right since then. He returned hours later to make sure it was still working. He also offered to come back at no cost if the freezer quit again in the next couple of months. | I was thankful for the special offer I received through Angie's List. I was also thankful to come in contact with Valley Heating Cooling and Appliances.

+ -1 moreThe service appointment went very well -- just as expected. Their serviceman gives very good advice and is extremely knowledgable. He ought to be! He's been doing it for 35 years.
Description of Work: These people are wonderful. You'll never have to worry about your AC/heater going out again. We've used their services for over 4 years. They are punctual and trust-worthy. When you buy their service contract, the company will call you twice a year to service your AC/Heater. It is such a hassle-free way to be assured of having an air conditioner when the temps reach 115.

+ -1 moreAs noted above, the response was excellent in that we were able to get the A/C working again within a few hours of discovering the problem. The technician was knowledgable and professional. He also explained that the largest component of the cost ($337.50) was the R-22 freon which is now $75 per lb. We have used these folks previously for our annual A/C checkup and as a result of the previous satisfaction they were our first call when we experienced this problem.
Description of Work: Our A/C had stopped cooling and they were able to schedule the repair the same day. The repair entailed brazing the pipe that had broken and refilling the freon. The repair person also checked out the other two compressors. The total time was 2 hours.

+ -1 moreUpon having the horrible loud noise return in our refrigerator, I called Valley, and spoke to a very courteous person on the phone. I explained the problem (she was actually able to hear the noise in the background coming from the frige), she took all my information and said someone would be at our home in a couple of hours. A couple of hours later, Bernie, the service tech, showed up. He was professional, and very personable. He knew right where the noise was coming from, popped out the parts in the refrigerator and replaced the part. Apparently the fan motor, had been not running properly, due to ice accumulating on it. Instead of him just cleaning off the ice and leaving the same motor on, I requested that he go ahead and replace the old one with the new motor he brought. He put it in and our refrigerator is now running again, QUIETLY! I was very impressed with Bernie and Valley and will definately use them if we need future repairs on any small appliance done and I will also reccommend them to our family and friends.
Description of Work: We had previously experienced a problem with our 2yr old refrigerator making a loud noise, but when we called for service from another provider, by the time they got to our home, the noise had stopped, so they said they couldnt fix a problem they couldnt hear. A couple of months later, back came the same noise, only much louder. . This time, I called Valley Services, and they were out with in a few hours. Bernie, the service tech., was so nice and professional. He knew exactly what was causing the noise,(the fan motor) had the part, replaced it and fixed our refrigerator! He was there less then 45 min. I would highly recommend Valley Services (Valley Heating,Cooling and Appliances). Bernie came with years of experience and it showed. + -1 moreWe got a Groupon for this company and they sent out someone to check out our A/C unit. The guy was 1 1/2 hrs late, when he did arrive we opened the door and he walked past us into our home without introducing himself and walked straight to our thermostat then said he would go check our unit. He then went and checked on our unit, wasn't up there more than 10-15 minutes which no way he was able to do everything our Groupon said, he then came back and abruptly said that it was $250+ to fix something up there. We did not have a good feeling about him so we declined. When pressed about the airflow check he was supposed to do according to our coupon he called the company as he "knew nothing about it" then said he was not the one to do the airflow test someone else would have to come out and do it. They never sent anyone else out. Worst service we ever experienced and I would never ever consider using them again.

In addition, the cooling experts evaluate refrigerant charge and add up to 1 pound of refrigerant if necessary, and furnace menders clean ignition assemblies and adjust gas pressure and pilot lights. Technicians also check homes' respiratory systems by examining airflow from all vents, which can help a home become more energy"

+ -1 moreOn Feb. 28, 2010, I sent an online appointment request for service on my washer and dryer. Valley Services responded with a telephone call on the morning of Monday, March 1st. My requested service appointment time - Tuesday, March 2, between 8:00 and 11:00 AM - was confirmed by the woman at Valley Services. On March 2, however, no repair person showed up at my house, nor did I receive any telephone call explaining why not. When I called Valley Services at 11:00 AM, I was told that no one there had any record of having made an appointment with me. Within 5 minutes, however, the woman at Valley Services called me back, admitted that she was the one I had talked to on Monday and, without offering either an apology or explanation for her error, she said she would now send a repair person to my house. Having wasted the entire morning, waiting for an appointment that had never been put on Valley Services' schedule, I told her I was not willing to wait any longer to do business with this company. Unreliable. Unprofessional. Do not use.
Description of Work: I had an appointment to have my Maytag washer and Kenmore dryer serviced. No service was performed because the service person did not show up.

+ -1 moreThe representative was on time, and friendly, but instead of recommending additional work and then letting it go when I said I wasn't interested, he persisted to the point where he implied that I was a poor parent if I did not subscribe to the company's "appliance maintenance" plan at a cost of several hundred dollars (which we could not afford, and which I explained to the representative). The representative did give me a discount on some extra work that we decided to have him do, and the work performed met my expectations, but I won't be using them again. He spent nearly an hour trying to convince me to accept his "deal of a lifetime." Unfortunately, the experience was a sharp contrast to the first representative I spoke with over the phone who was extremely helpful.
Description of Work: The representative performed a seasonal service of my air conditioning unit.
