Description of Work: One of my 2 AC systems stopped last summer. Magic Touch had been maintaining my systems. Magic Touch said the compressor was shot and I needed a new one. A quote for thousands was supplied. I got additional quotes for replacement. One supplier found that the compressor had a minor fault that was easily fixed, saving me thousands. Magic Touch has lost my confidence and the maintenance contract. I have a new AC technician who has earned my trust.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to see you go. As we don't want to leave you with a feeling that we misdiagnosed or gave you a false diagnosis, please know your compressor is a sealed "hermetic" compressor. This means your compressor can't be opened up to repair. What the other provider probably did was add whats known as a "start assist" (outside of the compressor and connected to the electrical wiring only. This does not fix the compressor it helps it to start. Although no tech can guarantee how much time it will buy you, we recommend them all the time. Our tech chose to inform you that HIS recommendation in this situation was a new compressor based on his findings as opposed to risk failure after spending money installing a hard start. Description of Work: We hadn’t used our gas fireplace for several years and when I tried to start it I could not get it to work. I bought a special from Angie’s list for a tune-up. The service man was nice and he said the problem was I needed a new sensor. He came back and replaced it but when I tried to start it still would not work. We called them and he came back and said the fireplace needed a new valve which would be over $1,000. We did not want to spend that much on a repair. I called the office and they did refund the cost of the valve. Since they did not make the right diagnosis from the start, I would not use them again.

Thank you for your review. Our assessment of the diagnosis at the time was had the technician kept digging he would've found a faulty gas valve...but he stopped at the sensor. We issued the refund because the technician made a mistake. Please understand technicians are only human and these guys work on many varieties of very technical equipment, sometimes they get it wrong! It's not too often but when they do, we admit our mistakes and make things right. It's what a company does when there IS a problem that determines their caliber and we hope people will recognize and appreciate that we are about doing the right thing. Description of Work: We had our attic heating/cooling system fixed. They did a heroic job getting everything in place via a small guest bathroom ceiling opening - no simple task - as opposed to cutting a giant hole in our great room ceiling (another vendor suggested that).
