As seen in other reviews, the energy audit is really a sales method to sell you duct sealing services. The follow up after the testing was poor as I had to call to get my results. The report was based on outdated APS billing info. There was no infrared analysis in the report just pictures of duct work. I went ahead and had the duct sealing done and have not seen any savings as a result.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review on your energy audit and duct sealing. We very much appreciate your business! I would like to take this opportunity to share some information that may change your mind somewhat as to the purpose of a home energy audit and the value of duct sealing. First, with regards to your statement that the energy audit is a means to sell duct sealing...we actually offer a stand alone test just for duct sealing that requires MUCH less time to complete and also does not require the wait time for the results to come back from both the utility company and Energy Star (the main reason for the wait time to get your report back to you). But it ONLY focuses on the duct work and here's why: Per APS, SRP, and the Department of Energy, about 90% of the homes in the US require duct sealing (check their websites and you will find this information comes from their own studies). That said, duct sealing is also the biggest bang for your buck when it comes to any energy savings measures, strictly based on ROI (again this information comes from these trusted third parties). With regards to your savings, you should compare your monthly KW usage from the time you had the duct sealing performed until now and I'm sure you will find it has increased significantly as this is the hottest recorded summer in US history and your sealing was done before the start of the summer. Comparing the monthly bill amount will not demonstrate savings or increases. I can say with 100% confidence, that the duct sealing has reduced your energy consumption. We can only utilize the data the utility company or yourself can provide us regarding previous energy usage data. I'm not sure what you mean regarding "outdated energy data". Please note that we sell and install many other products and services that are offered as repair recommendations from a home energy audit including; insulation, air sealing, solar shades, radiant barrier, air conditioners, duct design, PV Solar, and so on...BUT we will not recommend or sell you products and services you do not need. So if we focused on the duct sealing for your home...that's what you most needed. I hope this clarifies any misconceptions you may have about the value of a home energy audit, and the value of duct sealing. We are not only focused on energy savings when it comes to performing an energy audit. We are also considering comfort (sealing duct work means conditioned air is getting to the rooms it was intended to get to - not leaking into your attic before it gets there) this helps with a very common complaint - hot rooms. We also consider health and indoor air quality. Sealing duct work reduces attic dust, VOC's, dust mites, dander, pollen, fiberglass particles, etc., from being pulled into your system and recirculated throughout your home (and your lungs) over and over again. Lastly we consider durability and repair costs. Leaky ducts that pull all of these contaminants into your system and home wind up collecting on your A/C's indoor evaporator coil, this leads to more frequent and more expensive cleanings, strain on components like fan motors and the compressor, reducing the machines, performance and efficiency, and even shortening the life of your equipment. In short, I suppose you could say one of the end results is a means to convince our clients to have their ducts sealed...but only because it is the right thing to do for them 90% of the time...the test only measures and confirms it! We were hired to find deficiencies in the home and consult and advise our clients on the problems we found and what to do about them. I suppose we all want to hear; "we didn't find ANY problems and there is nothing in need of repair or improvement", which does happen on very rare occasions but then again that would defeat the purpose of purchasing an energy audit. We sincerely appreciate your business and hope you will call on us the next time you are in need of any of the products and services we provide, because our true motive on any service call, tune-up, or energy audit is to earn a lifetime client who calls on us for every product and service we offer for a lifetime. Sincerely, Rich Morgan, President - Magic Touch Mechanical, Inc.

Courteous service and competent.
Description of Work: Did the duct leak test for a phenomenal price. Most people need this service as duct leaks are an extremely common problem that cost you money on air conditioning bills. Yes the results showed my duct leaks and they will fix it for $400 minus utility rebate $175. Get the test you need it!

Thank you so much for your kind words and for your business! It is awesome to work with clients who get it! The benefits to sealing leaky ducts go much further than the tremendous energy saving opportunity posted by utility companies and the Department of Energy. Their are also proven health benefits, less dust in your home, etc. We are happy you are so pleased with the price and service! Thanks again, Rich Morgan, President - Magic Touch Mechanical, Inc.

Terrible. The first guy showed up unannounced and went on top of my roof to check my AC unit. They called it a tune-up, but he was only up there 10 minutes and then left. He didn't even bother to ask me which unit I was interested in having him evaluate. The technician who showed up to do the energy audit was only an AC Technician whose only interest was to sell me services in having my ductwork sealed. He performed no other energy related audit on anything else. There was no information provided on my windows/door seals, etc. They were only there to hype their A/C Ductwork service. They came to my house to give me a full report out with their salesman two weeks later. What a joke! Again, the only item referenced in their report was the ductwork. They never even checked the attic to evaluate the ductwork! They made a sales pitch to for their duct sealing service and I asked for a hard copy of the report. He didn't have one and promised to email me a copy. I have yet to receive it. I will request my money to be refunded. I didn't even get a rebate from APS. I think they filed for it. A complete and total ripoff. Do not hire them for this service!
Description of Work: i signed up for what I was told was an APS sponsored energy evaluation of my home. According to the description of the advertisement on Craig's List - this was supposed to include a whole-home energy audit (including appliances and pool equipment. Instead, all I got was a test to support this company's claim that I needed my ductwork sealed. That is the only energy test that was conducted.

We deeply apologize you were not pleased with your experience. We would be happy to issue you a full refund or if you would be willing to give us another opportunity to earn your confidence, schedule another COMPLETE whole home energy audit, and COMPLETE A/C tune-up. If you read our many years of reviews here on Angie's List, check out our A+ rating with the BBB for over 15 years, etc. you will see your experience was not typical of our company. The two employees that visited your home were hired and trained for over three months before being issued their own projects, we terminated their employment within a few weeks because of a few reports like yours here on Angie's List...we demand excellence in customer service as again can be seen by our hundreds of great reviews dating back years, and that was not the level to which they were performing. Sincerely, Rich Morgan, President - Magic Touch Mechanical, Inc

It is unfortunate that this opportunity did not turn out successful for me, the customer, and Magic Touch. The two technicians came out and explained what they would be doing. As they proceeded, they pointed out areas that appeared to need attention, but explained that the results would tell us what needed attention and would be reviewed later. As they completed one step in the audit, they started tearing down their equipment. I asked about the infrared scan and they told me that they had forgotten about it. That, in my opinion, was the most important part of the audit. They reassembled their equipment and performed that step, pointing out areas of duct leakage and then completed their audit. I was told that I would have the results presented to me after they took them back and analyzed them. Three weeks later, I contacted Magic Touch and asked when the results would be presented. I was told that they missed scheduling my appointment to do that and we settled on a date to complete the audit presentation. One the day that the results were presented to me, the junior technician of the two that did the audit came out. He explained that the other technician had left the company. All of the results were not available on the technician's computer. He blamed this on the technician that left the company saying that he stored the results in a different manner. But, he promised that he would find the results. The presentation was a generic format that did not reflect my home. Example: The report showed that we have gas heat and a conventional air conditioner. We have a heat pump. This will skew the results. During the presentation, I was not offered a copy. When I asked for one, the technician said that he could go out to his truck and get a printer. I told him to email me the results including those that he could not find on the day of the presentation. He told me that he would. A week later, I received the email without the results that I was promised. Just the generic format and, of course, the cost estimate for the correction of any issues. I was so disgusted that I walked away from them completely. It is sad that what is probably a great business was represented by technicians with poor customer service and they lost my business.
Description of Work: Whole house energy audit plus free A/C tuneup. This consisted of testing the ducts for leakage and checking the insulation above the living area plus servicing one A/C unit.

As can be seen in five reports out of the 137 reports in this category dating back for years on Angie's List, we had an energy auditor that was not performing at the same level as the rest of our team and we immediately terminated him upon receiving this feedback. We deeply apologize for your experience and are happy to issue you a full refund if you wish. We would prefer the opportunity to start from scratch by sending out the same employees who've helped us to earn the hundred + A reports you see here on Angie's List. Unfortunately we too fell victim to a person who didn't have the same vision of what great customer service looks like as the rest of our team. We obviously couldn't have earned the excellent reputation we have, the A+ record with the BBB, spotless record with the Arizona Registrar of Contractors, etc. if this was our normal operating procedures! Based on comments in your review (which were quite generous considering the circumstances and I thank you for that) you recognize that this individual was not a true representation of what our clients have come to expect from us. I assure you that is why he is gone. If you feel generous enough to give us another opportunity, please contact me directly and I will see to is that your work is performed by our very best and to the caliber we're known for! I bought their Angie's List deal to get a tune-up on our air conditioner. We weren't experiencing any problems but wanted to get our unit checked out before we had a problem (trying to be proactive since our unit is original to the house- 15+ years old!). They came out within two days to do the inspection. The technician was polite and friendly and he did a good job of explaining what he was going to do. He took pictures of what my unit looked like- the problems (it was filthy) and what needed fixing (a capacitor was broken). Before doing anything, the tech gave me a price for cleaning and repair which I approved and was able to do the work at the same time. I appreciated that they fit us into the schedule that day instead of having to come out another time. Within another 40 minutes I had a clean unit with a working capacitor. He also took after pictures and emailed them to me so that I could go over it all with my husband later. Overall- the experience was great and I plan on getting an annual inspection to keep out unit in tip-top shape.
Description of Work: I bought the Angie's List deal for an inspection of my air conditioner unit and ended up getting a cleaning of my unit and a capacitor replaced.

Company was professional and nice but basically it just ended up being a very expensive a/c tuneup. They also did an energy audit and I was told that I would get the results. Six weeks later I have not a word. Hmmmmm, SRP may have been the smarter choice.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. As can be seen in a few other reports in recent days, the energy auditor assigned your project was terminated due to an unacceptable level of customer service. While I'm pleased he was "professional and nice" the fact that he did not send you your report is reflective of why he is no longer with the company. As you can see in 137 reports in this category alone, dating back many years his performance was not indicative of the rest of our team. We are frantically going back over EVERY project he was involved in and contacting each client to make sure they got what they paid for, or we will redo the job completely at your command! We VERY much care about providing nothing less than excellent customer service and found out through several Angie's List reports that was not what this individual was providing in the short time he was with us. If you would like to contact me personally or our office manager, Candace Pope, we will see to it that you get anything still needed. So you aware, we not only are preferred contractors for SRP, I personally serve on the Board of Directors for the very organization that oversees their rebate programs. Your experience and that of a few others are NOT how we trained this individual and we took immediate action upon becoming aware of it. Sincerely, Rich Morgan, President

They seemed pretty thorough in their testing of air leakage in my home. Then they came back a week later and gave me some verbal results and prices to seal ducts, etc. I asked for them to email me their report, which they promised to do. I never received it. I have called them at least twice now asking for the report, and I have received nothing -- not even a callback from the guys that were here. Not impressed with the lack of follow through.

The two servicemen were pleasant to communicate with and conducted themselves very professionally. They swiftly prepared all the vents throughout the house and conducted the analysis. After giving me the report and showing me a few pictures taken on a digital camera they verbally gave me a couple possible fixes for the temperature issue that I have in my two story home. He indicated that a proposal would be sent via email including pictures of an area that was missing insulation. I did not hear from back from them for about 2+ weeks after even after a failed attempt to contact them to obtain copies of the photos to show my builder. This is why they almost failed in responsiveness. My builder did end up fixing the insulation issue and I have yet to hear back from them regarding the other fix for my heat problem.

Thank you so much for your business and for your generous review of your experience with Magic Touch. I'm ecstatic you were so pleased with the initial inspection and verbal communication but apologize deeply for the lack of follow through after that. We are now finding out otherwise from several clients and are scrambling to go through all of his jobs to get everyone what they need. I appreciate the customer service and willingness to work out a resolution.
Description of Work: Magic Touch performed a tune up on my system in early June. About a week ago, my condensation line was not draining properly. I called them back and they charged me $75.00 for the diagnosis plus the cost of the line cleaning. I received a 10% discount at the time but felt the charges were not fair. I contacted the service manager and after discussing my concerns she agreed to refund to diagnosis fee.

Very well. The a/c technician inspected my 6 year old a/c unit and told me all was in great working order, and did not even need any coolant. The 2 energy efficiency workers also told me all was well except the attic insulation was about half what it should be. They were to submit an estimate for their company to do the work but they never did. I wasn't surprised by their finding as the house is 23 years old and has blown in insulation that probably wasn't enough to begin with and/or over time has degraded.I will contact them to inquire about the estimate, but will also seek estimates from other Angie's List companies.

Thank you so much for your kind words and A rating of our team! We sincerely appreciate the opportunity to earn your business and are working on getting your insulation proposal to you (I believe Jesse was working on your file today actually). Please forgive the delay as we must process the paperwork and wait for audit approval with your utility company and AZ Home Performance before we are allowed to present a proposal, in order to qualify you for rebates (the red tape of rebate programs). We very much hope you will choose Magic Touch to perform the work, however please note that the installing contractor must be approved by your utility company and be BPI certified in order to receive any rebates. Company came out and performed an audit of windows, doors, and ceilings to look for escaping energy. They came back a week later to go over the results. They were a little quick to go over the information, but promised to email me the information (which has not arrived) so I can go over it more carefully. I also asked for some information/proposal/work that was out of the scope of the audit. At the time of this writing, the proposal for that work has nor arrived either, and may be holding up the original information and original proposal (for duct sealing). I have received one email in the interim four days since they were here explaining they are very busy, but will get to me "shortly".

Thank you so much for your business and for taking the time to share your experience with us (so far) on Angie's List! We sincerely appreciate both...and look forward to turning those "B's" into "A's"! I did speak with the Building Analyst who is working on your project and he did assure me he has your information put together and will be sending it over to you (actually today!). He told me he wanted to send you everything at once including the requested quotes for items that were out of the scope of energy efficiency upgrades. He told me he had to get some pricing from vendors as well as speak with our installation manager in order to figure out the most cost effective way to install the sump pump and transfer grills you both spoke about, and just received all the information back. Please feel free to contact me directly if there is anything else we can do for you but it sounds like he has it all together...I assure you you are in good hands! This was my first experience with Angie's List, so I was not really sure how you are suppose to go about receiving the service that you purchased. I was surprised to know that I had to pay upfront before even contacting the Service Provider, which was ok, but I did have a concern whether this deal also covered "split systems", and not just heat pump units. I decided to continue with the purchase, and if they did not do "splits", then they would probably refund my money. After I received the email confirmation, I was able to get the email address and phone number. I sent an email right away, but it was never answered. I thought they would contact me, but after a couple of days, I called them, leaving a message with an answering service. I called again a few days later and left another message and was contacted by the "scheduler" the next day or so. I was able to get an appointment for the following Tuesday within a "time period", which was fine. The young man that came on the day of my appointment did call me to tell me he was on his way. He got to the house, and was very clean and neat and pleasant. I showed him where the outside compressor unit was, and explained that the rest of the unit was in the attic above the garage. I also showed him where the access to it was, and asked if he needed to go up there. He said "well, it's up to you if you want that part serviced or not". I know it was hot,, but since I had paid for the "66 point" service, I did ask him to please check that as well, which he did. While he was checking the outside compressor unit, he told me that my contactor switch was bad and needed to be replaced. I asked him if it was something "critical" and he assured me it was, so I approved that repair. When he was up in the attic, he did a "water test" of the overflow, which was working just fine. My unit's overflow comes out of a pipe on the outside of the garage wall. I watched as the water came out of it with no problems at all. He did try to "upsell" a "drip pan" so that if the overflow ever backed up and flooded the attic floor (above my garage) it would keep the damage down. I thanked him, but said' "no thanks". When he was finished, he presented me with my bill for $195.00 - the cost of the contractor switch. I felt this was a little high, and since then have checked the Carrier Website, and the switch for my Model number from Carrier is less that that. I don't think I should have been charged over the part price. I also don't think there was anything in the original posting on Angles List that stated anything about additional labor charges could be applied. When I asked to see the part, he did go back out to his truck and brought in a switch that showed some burn/black marks on it that he said was from "arcing". In reviewing the bill, I also noted that the "66 points" are not listed anywhere, so I am not really sure what 66 points on my system were checked and what they were checked for. I do know that he said that my coolant levels were fine, and that my system was in excellent condition for it's age; around 9 years. Other than that, and the contractor switch that was replaced, I have no clue what was done. Overall, my experience was not bad, but I would not rate it excellent either. So.. DO ask questions about additional charges, DO ask to see the parts immediately, DO ask for a detailed listing of what was done. DON'T assume anything.
Description of Work: I purchased the original $ 59.99 for 66-Point A/C Super Tune-Up. to have my A/C system checked for the summer. My system was checked and a part was replaced.

Thank you for your business and for your report on Angie's List. In answer to some of your questions / comments: The reason you paid Angie's List upfront is you purchased an Angie's List "Big Deal" which is a product we sell "through" Angie's List. You paid Angie's List and they in turn reimburse us a portion of the payment for bringing the business our way...similar to the way Groupon works. I was unsure what you meant by not knowing what the 66-point tune up included as we provided you with two documents; the invoice and the 66-point tune-up checklist which is numbered task by task. I looked into our database and found your signed copy of this document...did you not receive your yellow copy? With regards to the cost of labor, the Big Deal lists terms and conditions on the Angie's List website and does state any repairs are a separate cost...an A/C tune-up never includes free parts or labor for needed repairs. Naturally we can't just install parts at cost, from the manufacturers...we have to pay our technicians, gas, insurance, and other overhead costs to provide you with the service we do. With regards to the technician "up-selling" you a drip-pan which you declined; his job is to point out deficiencies in your system so you are aware of them. Your system is actually supposed to have a drip pan per code and we would not have been doing right by you had we NOT informed you of and suggested that. We hope to exceed your expectations the next time you call us...and we hope to earn a higher than "average" score! Thanks again for using Magic Touch! Sincerely, Rich Morgan - President

Called on a Saturday and they were able to come out in about an hour. Carefully checked all the components and told us the costs before changing each item v getting a new unit since it is so old.
Description of Work: A/C was tripping breaker, so they diagnosed the problem as the fan motor. Also replaced capacitor and added a kick-starter. It is an old unit and has been working fine for last couple weeks in the 110F weather. We have had a number of companies look at the nut and nobody fixed the problem, so we are happy with Magic Touch!

He did the examination and said everything was fine. He then recommended a starter assist hard start kit to reduce energy consumption. As soon as he left, the AC died. I called them to tell them my AC unit was no longer working. I had them come back right away, and he tried to cool the compressor and blew some fuses. He said he put in the fuse box or something in backwards. When I spoke to the owner later, she said it would be $1500 for a repair. She insisted the problem was just a coincidence. Before they came to service my ac it was working just fine, when they left it required a $1500 repair. The woman lied and said she was the only owner, and she is not. I will be submitted a complaint to the registrar of contractors. My advice to future consumers is to be very wary of using this company. Update 6/21/2012: Fortunately for the folks on Angie's List and unfortunately for Mr. Morgan, who I never spoke with, I'm not an idiot, I'm persistent, and I'm tired of rip-off companies saying one thing and trying to distract us from the real issues. When I had another technician out there, they noticed that the electronics of the compressor had been messed with. There was a noticeable arc across one or more of the capacitors, and wires were disconnected, which would indicate either purposeful tampering or accidental tampering during an inspection, which the technician did. That very well could have caused the problem which the technician conveniently discovered. Also, when the technician came back he stated that he had inserted some electrical parts incorrectly before he left. His attempts at repairs were pathetic at best, blowing not only my house fuses, but my main as well, several times. It was clear that this gentleman was not a competent technician, at least with the problem that he was faced with. He was here for at least two hours trying to "fix" the problem. (I had two techs out since, who realized that the compressor was blown within 15 minutes of their arrival.) Now the question is, could this compressor have failed on its own? Certainly. But if this problem had existed for some time as they state, there have been many, many previous hot days where it had ample time to break down. My hypothesis, based now on evidence which I hope to provide, is that the technician during the inspection either accidentally or on purpose caused the problem, which he stated caused the high amperage. For the company to say that that possibility is not possible, is an outright lie. Lastly, and let?s face i: it's way too much of a coincidence that a unit working perfectly well goes down at the exact time when someone has gone, opened it up and inspected it. Too much of a coincidence, I'm sorry.
Description of Work: They came over to do an AC tune up and an energy audit.

Response from Magic Touch Mechanical
Magic Touch has over 100 wonderful reports on Angie’s List dating back years. This member is the first and only to ever you libelous language like “rip-off company.” The very technician this member accuses of being either inept or ripping him off is personally named in many A – grade reports Magic Touch has received. He holds multiple certifications, has many years of experience, and is often requested by many of our long time clients and Angie’s List members. Also important to note; this member only recently joined Angie’s List 2 months ago, and this is his first and only report ever written. Whereas Magic Touch can demonstrate a long history of happy Members and record of being trustworthy, this member cannot. We ask all who read to consider, if ALL those other members who gave us an A rating BEFORE & SINCE this report were giving a truthful account? Or if this one member who just joined, has never written another report, and who’s first interaction with a highly rated Service Provider goes to dispute, is the ONLY one who we “ripped off”? If there were even the slightest truth to this report, we wouldn’t even question accepting responsibility for the repair, and would make it right immediately! We would not say our technicians’ can’t make mistakes, they are only human after all, but that is not the case in this situation. Members have even commented in their reports about how we made things right after making a mistake. That is the reason for our great reputation and reviews. The evidence and testimony of not 1, but 3, very qualified technicians who hold multiple certifications, point to the fact that this member thought he could use the Angie’s List dispute process as a means to blackmail Magic touch into paying for a repair he knew he needed prior to us arriving. He purchased a $99 Energy Audit & A/C Tune-Up. First to arrive at his home were 2 energy auditors. His first statement at the door was; “When are you going to do the A/C Tune-Up?” Typically clients are more interested in the results of the energy audit, and in light of the developments since, both auditors now state, this member’s statements were “suspicious” from the beginning. They explained to him that the third tech would arrive shortly and would be performing the A/C Tune-Up while they completed the energy audit of his home. The technician who performed the A/C Tune-Up filled out a checklist of all measurement results for each component. The attached documents provided to Angie’s List prove that this member’s statements are untrue. He was informed verbally and in writing that his compressor was not “fine” as he states. His invoice and checklist (both of which signed) clearly state the amp draw of the compressor was (and I quote), “VERY HIGH!!” and the technician “Highly recommends adding a start assist kit”. Not only was the clearly written on 2 documents, which he signed, all 3 technicians were present when the problem was explained to him. All state that while explaining it, the unit “kicked on” and “when it did all the lights in the house dimmed” to which the tech pointed out was caused by the compressor problem and it was a “serious problem.” The unit did continue to run after the tech left despite this members report that it did not, as witnessed by the 2 technicians conducting the energy audit who were still there. At one point the member asked the auditors if we could install parts he purchased online. They witnessed the member was on a website that sold A/C equipment and parts online. He told them “I can save myself a lot of money that way.” It’s clear that he was not only aware the unit had a problem before we arrived, he had every intention of purchasing the recommended parts online and finding someone to install them to “save money.” Statements that any parts were “installed wrong” are untrue; as no parts were installed….he declined the recommend the repair! Also statements that the technician “blew fuses” are false. The compressor pulling high amps was tripping the circuit breaker (as it is designed to do) and it is now more so apparent that is how the member knew he had a problem before our arrival, he had been resetting the breaker instead of fixing the problem. As can be seen in other reports; when we have been at fault for something, we are apologetic and make things right. In this case, this member is being deceitful. Please refer to what the MAJORITY of member who have us and submitted an HONEST report to say. Thank you! The unfortunate side of any review site for a business is when someone manipulates the facts to make their side of the story seem more valid than it actually is. The technician did NOT say everything was fine before he left. In fact he underlined and put exclamation marks next to a line that says "Compressor is pulling VERY high amps!” He recommended a compressor start assist for this very reason. Not only did you sign that document, you initialed NO declining a repair that was absolutely needed, again he underlined and put an exclamation point right on the invoice. He did NOT say the hard start kit was "to reduce energy consumption" as evidenced in the underlined statement. What Michele (Company Owner) tried to explain to you was that we have over 100 wonderful customer reviews on Angie's List...and we wouldn’t all of a sudden, have a change in company culture change when we got to your home. The Registrar of Contractors will know right away that there is nothing our technician could have done to cause your compressor to fail - it's not even possible. Our technician arrived on a 113-degree day and put in writing BEFORE he left (while the unit was still running) that your compressor was "pulling VERY high amps" which is what is causing your compressor to overheat. You witnessed the fact that when he cooled down your compressor with ice it started to run again...until it overheated again…all caused by the fact that it is; "pulling very high amps". AMPS = HEAT. EXCESSIVE HEAT + 113 degrees (the hottest day of the year so far) + a struggling compressor = OVERHEATING and in a short time; compressor failure. If one of our technicians ever does something, which causes a component failure or misdiagnoses something that causes a failure, we make it right, no questions asked. This is the very reason we have so many wonderful customer reports from Angie's List Members dating back for years. In this case the technician didn't even make any repairs, he simply checked over the unit and (immediately) found, documented, and informed you that there was a major problem with your compressor. He offered a solution and you declined it, in writing. We have the reputation we do for a reason, and Michele and I (owners) are both 100% committed to customer satisfaction, honesty, and integrity. Our technicians do not earn any commissions and are very well trained and accredited so there would be no reason for the advice they give you to be anything from the facts. He told you that your unit had a major issue; you declined any repair of that issue, as is your prerogative. To say the technician said "everything was fine" is blatantly false as evidenced on the invoice. Sincerely, Rich Morgan - President - Magic Touch Mechanical, Inc.

Donna called me several times in advance to confirm the time slot. Technician Troy showed up on time and called first. Troy checked out both units and presented several options and explained all costs. He also provided and completed the APS forms to be filed for the rebate. I was very satisfied with the service and work performed. Thank you.

It turns out we did in fact promise him some more information and didn't get back to him. I found out only because of his D report (sometimes low grades are a good thing). Anyway we have since made it right and he has since done almost $1000 worth of the recommended repairs! He has promised to update his review and grade but that hasn't happened yet. I'm hoping my updated response will be a little reminder :)

It went awesome! I really appreciated the fact they did not call and just came over. Troy and Jesse were very professional. Troy let me know that our A/C unit did not have a surge protector and suggested we have one put on, which we did. I am very happy with that since we can never know when lightning will hit. Jesse gave me a brief idea of what we will need to do and will come back with a full report on what they found. Would use this business again.
Description of Work: Magic Touch came to perform an energy audit and free inspection of our A/C unit. They were on time and very professional. Also, the office manager Donna was in touch with me and I let her know I was unable to use a regular telephone due to my hearing impairment. So she told me she would let the service guys know of this and not to call. Donna e mailed me when they would arrive and I thought this was very professional. Troy and Jesse were the service techs and they were very good.

It went well, but it took almost 4 hours. He had to leave to get a fuse, which I would assume they would keep on their trucks. Then he took 30 min to write of the paperwork. This was way too long for this type of call. Richard, thanks for replying to my review. I appreciate the attention you give to your customers.

Thank you so much for your business and for taking the time to share a review of your experience with us on Angie's List. I am sorry you thought the technician was there too long. We pride ourselves in having the most thorough tune-up available in the valley and it does typically take one hour per unit for our "Super Tune-Up" to make sure we test and inspect every component in your HVAC system...in fact we require it. We probably could've done a better job of telling you what to expect up front as we do normally tell our clients to plan on an hour per unit. With regards to the fuse, we do typically have all different size fuses on our trucks, we have been so busy with the heat reaching the high 100's that most likely the technician used his stock before having a chance to come in and replenish. I'm glad you feel it all went well except for the length of time it took to go through all three units thoroughly. I hope you will call on us again the next time you need HVAC services and if you do, please share with us the time that you have so we can be mindful of it. Thanks again! Our AC went out yesterday afternoon, and we knew it was going to get up to about 108 degrees the next day, so it was a pretty high priority to get it fixed. I called them this morning and they were able to get over to the house within 3 hours. The guy was maybe the nicest technician I have ever worked with in my entire life. He was also quick, and fixed the issue easily (which turned out to be a burnt fuse on the AC unit). On top of that he gave us some good advice about air filters, which apparently is to use the cheaper fiber fill ones. A great experience overall, I'm really happy to have found them.

I do not think that they could improve because he was outstanding. He was on time. He did the check; it was a 95.0 check or something. He told me what was wrong and told me that there were few things that need to be repaired down the road. But he said that it was not urgent to do immediately. I could wait for next year. He was honest and gave me estimated prices on all of it. I did it that day so I did not have to pay another trip charge. But he also gave me an option not too. He was honesty and did not push me to have it done.
