Magic Touch Mechanical Inc. did basically what they were supposed to do, but they left out a lot of stuff that we later discovered. I suppose if you talk about what was in the contract, they did that fairly well. They showed up on time, didn't leave a mess and all that sort of thing. Then they gave me a quote to do some of the work and neglected to include some very important aspects in it. If I had retained them to do the work, I'm not sure how it would have worked out, because of the stuff they left out, which is pretty important. This is a costly project. I don't think they could have fulfilled their part of the contract.

Magic Touch came out and took care of the unit honestly and fairly making The Big Deal a really good deal!

This type of duct leakage testing is marginally useful. The testing will not identify the location of leaks. It gives a measure of the overall leakage expressed as a percentage of system air flow.

As usual they did a great job. They are professional and friendly . They also take photos and explain what they are doing in detail. Great company!

The men who came out were friendly and thorough. The report I got back at the end, however, was a joke. It was a waste of time and money.

The value of this service lied in the energy auditing part. The staffs really spend time explaining what they have found to us.

I bought the "tune up" which is really just an inspection and should be labeled as such. Very friendly and professional, seemed very thorough, but only provided information. No actual tune up was done, just a list with costs associated as to what should be done. It's a good lesson for me to read the fine print. Recommended adding freon for $271 and cleaning the drain pan for another $278. I would use them again but won't buy this special again. I have used this company for other evals and duct work and every single worker has been very professional and thorough.

the The technician arrived on time and was cordial. I went with him on my roof to watch him do the inspection. He carefully took several inspection panels off the AC unit and did visual, electrical and pressure testing. He found no problems with the unit but did comment that I had some damage to the condenser fins on one side of the unit. I remember that we had a hail storm about 3 weeks prior that came from the west and that was the section of the condenser fins that were damaged. He quoted me a $175 price to straighten out the fins so air would move freely through them. I decided to do the straightening myself but I should have accepted his offer. (It took me about 15 hrs to complete the fin straightening and it was very meticulous work). Overall, I was happy with their work and professionalism.

I'm a home inspector here in Arizona and wanted to know how tight my HVAC ducts were. SRPgave a rebate on the service and only cost me $20 per syster. The company set 2 men and they spent 4 1/2 hours doing the tests. On my first system they found it tight (no leaks). BUT on my second systen they found it to be leaking the total size of a 9" x 12" hole in the ducts.It was a good thing I was sitting near the return duct went they did that system. After they went throught their sales pitch I ask why they did not tape off the hole grill on the return? Both of them got red in the face and said they did not think it would make a differenance. well after taping (sealing) off them system it got a high rating.Just wondering if someone with NO knowage would of bought into their $1,000 plus sales pitch! He arrived on time, explained what was to be done and then reviewed the results w/ me. He gave me tips on how to make my AC unit last longer and explained the advantages of having duct sealing performed. In the end, he gave me the tools I needed to make an informed decision on what repairs I needed or didn't need to make at that time. I appreciated his knowledge, thoughtfulness and efficient work.

Prompt response to call. Courteous and professional. I will definitely use this service in the fall.

They were very thorough and very professional with the home energy audit. They came up with a good list of projects to increase the efficiency of my energy use and extend the life of my heater/AC. They gave me a quote for some work as well, but may delay some of the recommended upgrades since higher priority work exists around the house.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal and they were fabulous. They were professional and really nice. They knew what they were doing. They didn't leave anything dirty and they put everything in the trash that they used. They were really good. Everything worked okay. Afterwards they sent another technician to come and check the job to see if it was actually performing up to standards. Everything was really good. I was pleasantly surprised that there was a rebate and they filled it out for me to sign and mail. It was a nice surprise. They didn't have one of the bests prices but they were worth it.

The serviceman did his work, as far as we could tell, since our A/C is on our roof. He was polite and said that everything checked out OK. The next day, our A/C stopped working! Was it coincidence or not. We didn't know, but we could not call Magic Touch Mechanical Inc. back , because their company could not service our warranty. We had a 10 year parts and 5 yr. labor warranty on our 4 year old A/C system. We had inquired and were told that, when we had them do the tune-up. We gave the company a "B" in quality and overall experience since we were left with a question of why the A/C stopped working the day after we had a tune-up from them.

Prompt in setting appointment. Tech very professional and went above and beyond to help me understand what he had found. Would definitely recommend this company to others.

We got a total of 7 estimates from companies listed on the APS contractors list to install two (2) new HVAC units. All the companies were rated "A+" by the Better Business Bureau, yet only 3 of the companies even bothered to do a load analysis and "manual J" calculation. To their credit, Magic Touch was one of those which did. Matt arrived on time, seemed very knowledgeable, professional, but tried to "up-sell" us right from the very start., recommending top of the line 19.0 SEER units for $18,000 or more, almost double what we ended up paying for our higher SEER rated Trane systems. When I explained to him that we would be selling the house in another 6 months to 2 years and were not interested in the highest SEER rated units, he became quite adamant, almost angry, insisting that we wouldn't be able to sell the house, that our house would be "unmarketable" without the most expensive units. I can only imagine he was trying to maximize his commission; I am really not sure. The quotes received from Magic Touch ended up being higher than any other contractor we contacted. Another thing I didn't like was their pricing methodology. They started off by adding in an extra $2000 for a "promotional" duct test and 5-year extended labor warranty (which I never asked for or wanted, since we were going to sell the house soon) to their sticker price, then subtracting it out again. I guess this was done to make it appear that we were getting a "good deal", when in reality their systems are way over-priced. The cheapest 3 units they quoted us would have cost another $4,000 - $6,000, that is 40 - 60% more than what we paid for our higher rated, 15.0 SEER Trane units, complete with duct test and sealing. To Ricahrd Morgan - Magic's cheapest unit was $6000 per unit, multiplied by two units equals $12,000, plus the other $2000 for their promotional duct sealing and 5 year extended labor warranty which I never asked for or wanted; that makes $14,000 for their cheapest two units, one upstairs and one downstairs. And yes, his man stuck his head up into the attic space and took some pictures, BUT he did not go up and inspect the duct work for leaks or damage. I got both my units and the duct work for under $10,000. I stand by my review!! Magic is waaaayyyyyyy overpriced!! The company I hired had over 20 years experience and not one complaint filed against therm. Check out Magics complaints with the BBB. Magic's CEO has a history of calling any rating less than an "A" as being untrue. But he doesn't even get his arithmetic correct.

Rick was meticulous. The audit took much longer than I expected stretching out over three visits. Rick was careful to keep things clean and answered questions easily while performing the audit.

Update: 5/7/2013 - Magic Touch has been very responsive to my concerns and sent another technician out who went through the same process as the previous gentleman but then *did* explain the results. Very pleased with their efforts to resolve issues I had previously had. Previous review: 3/7/2013 Nice enough fella who seemed to know what he was doing. Arrived rather late due to traffic and though that was not a particular inconvenience to me he did start running out of light before he was finished working on the outside unit. As he was wrapping up he started seeming rather rushed and almost annoyed with my questions. I had to ask him if everything was ok with my A/C system. He said yes, handed me a folder containing a sheet of paper with numbers written all over it that he said I would not understand. Seemed rushed to leave and left me with the impression that since he did not find a problem they could bill us for he wanted to get the heck out of my house as soon as possible. These are my perceptions of the experience. I *think* everything is OK with my A/C system, but I have not much more peace of mind than I had before the "tune up"

Found Compressor Capacity at 42 MFD when specs call for 50. Upon lots of research confirmed this does become an issue as unit is about 10 years old and decreasing MFD over time is common and can cause stress on the compressor as he explained to me. My only maybe unfair question is I found (after a lot of web searching) the part and its price of $88.87 but I would have no clue how to install but believe its very easy and quick.. Magics quote for part and to install is $242 or $206 if I get the gold $139/yr plan. I realize there is usually a big mark up on parts by AC firms and have to pay reasonable trip charge etc to install. So this may be very reasonable and I have no idea what others charge. I will probably do just seemed high for an $88 part. But other than doing all this picky part research on cost was very happy and no pressure to "sign up now" for plan. Our energy audit did not show any great saving to us, about $10 per month for the $1600 they wanted us to spend so we decided not to go forward with their offer. They were suppose to get back with us re the results in 2 days....it took almost a month. My feeling is once the report showed such little work to be done and such a small savings we became less of a priority to them. I had to call them for the results. I'm in real estate and have referred a lot of business to my clients over the past 13 years, this is one company I would not refer.

I was not able to be there but left the key in a realtor's lock box. Service was done and a detailed checklist with notations was left for me as I had requested. I later phoned the serviceman to ask some questions. The guy was patient and knowledgeable so the service worked out well and was convenient.

I wasn't very impressed with them. They tried to get me to invest more, they came to clean the air conditioning and they said this could be replaced and this part here needs to be replaced trying to get more money out of me. The person who came were very very young, I don't like having inexperienced kids working on my business and so I got the impression that he was trying to get me to pay more money, so I was a little put off by it and I won't use them again.

They were excellent. They worked with me, called me to keep me up to date, explained why I needed it, and explained why my air conditioner wasn't cooling my house. They explained how an air conditioner worked. The people were superb to work with.

We had that done by Magic Touch Mechanical Inc. They did the stuff and they were supposed to get with us for the audit and we were really busy, we never really got with them, but it wasn't their fault, it was ours because we are so busy and we couldn't get with them. But they did the energy audit. We used the big deal. They were fine as far as doing the audit. I would never do one again in the summer because it's so hot to be turning the air conditioning off. I wouldn't do that again, it's too hot. They did a good job testing it and everything. But we never got the results.
