Description of Work: I have been using Johns for several years now by means of having a yearly service/maintenance contract with them and have always been satisfied with their work and how they explain any problems they encounter or foresee. During the course of the last couple of visits, they have advised me that my a/c is leaking Freon, along with a couple of other things, and in due time I would need to replace it. |(Fast forward to this month). Upon arriving to the condo, after having been away for several months, I noticed the rooms were warm and even though the a/c was running, there was no air coming out of the vents. I called John's and within an hour they had someone there. After being told what the problem was (it had completely run out of Freon) they stated I would need a new a/c or I would be spending a lot of money on keeping Freon in the present one. I instructed them to put some in, though it was going to cost me $280.00, while I got some estimates for a new one. (I would make note here that this was the third time they had to add Freon and my contract allows for two, so the cost, though seeming high, isn't that bad since the previous two were very minimal in cost.) |After getting their estimate and talking to another company that was recommended to me, I went with John's. Though they were about $1,300.00 more, I went with them for the following reasons: 1. They are a family held company having been in business a long time; 2. All of their service reps are certificated by the professional certification authority for HVAC contractors; 3. All of their employees, whether it be the office staff or the in the field personnel, are very courteous and polite, as well as meticulous in their work; 4. They have a very minimal turnover in personnel; 5. Though their cost was more, it was clear that the services they performed in the installation process where more in depth and intricate then the lower bidder, as well as the fact that Johns has a three year warranty on all parts and labor, outside the manufacturer's warranty, compared to one year for the other company. |Great company and great employees! | |P.S. The $280.00 I spent on adding freon to the old unit; they credited that amount against the total price of the new unit.

Description of Work: I'm still confused as to how and why a 6-year old rooftop AC unit with a 10-year mfr warranty period, does not transfer warranty ownership to the new home owner, with 4-years remaining on warranty. Aside from that, they were highly professional, super friendly, and willing to take the time to explain exactly what needed to be replaced (Thermal Expansion Valve),and were back out the very next day to complete the job. No one would be thrilled with a failed major component and cost to repair it, but John's came so highly rated and reviewed on Angie's List, I took a leap of faith and did not question their integrity and recommended repair. As a first time home owner I need partners I can trust and rely on, and I am confident they were the right company for the job. I bought a maintenance contract from them as well.

Description of Work: We had John's do an energy assessment per the SRP program. The scheduling was easy over the phone, the service was excellent. The person who came to the house was very thorough, cleaned up everywhere, and professional. The people in the office were also very professional and kept us informed of timing of appointment and expected arrival of service person. The energy report was very thorough and we have used it in planning repairs.

Description of Work: Estimate for a new hvac unit. Estimate was fair in price and the statement of work was thorough and complete. Salesman was professional and patient. I was interested in a Rheem product which is not a primary brand John's promotes. The salesman still worked diligently to find the best price for a Rheem and went out his way to follow up with equipment specifics. Although in the end I went with a Rheem primary company, I had confidence John's would have provided a good product and provided quality service. Having been a customer of John's for over 15 years I still consider them a quality product, however not as affordable as they once were.

Description of Work: Stephen Johns & Co. was one of three bidders to replace my old air conditioner and repair some problems with the duct work. They weren't the lowest bidder, but had the best record on Angie's list and Yelp. Plus, they were certified by APS, the power provider in my area. The estimator was thorough in his review of my needs and the proposal was sent promptly. They assisted with low interest financing and arranged for me to get two rebates through APS. As promised, they returned within 30 days to inspect the work and to determine if I was happy. Having gone through one of the most brutal August's in Phoenix history, I can say that I was very comfortable in my home, and my APS bill showed that I was among the lowest users of electricity for my size home in my area. I waited to do this review until I had been through a full summer, and I have to say that I am very pleased with their work and follow up.

Description of Work: My tenant called on Christmas morning without heat. I called John's Refrigeration and the answering service answered and Julio called me back within 10 minutes. He then called my tenant and went out and determined that the capacitor(?) was fried. He got my authorization and installed a new one by noon. I had never even used them before. It was our Christmas miracle. The service call was $65--probably the same as usual.

Description of Work: I moved into my new home on a Saturday, and the first night there my air conditioning went out! I called John's on Sunday, and Jared was out to my home within an hour. Jared diagnosed the problem, tried to find the part (unfortunately it had to be ordered), and was VERY curteous and professional. There was no charge for the inspection, estimate and removal of the broken blower unit from my attic. John's called on Monday to replace the broken unit, and to do the 1st of 2 service inspections. Everything was fixed to perfection, and Jared was more than patient with my many questions.

Description of Work: The technician came out somewhat early but the office had called and asked me if it was convenient. He introduced himself and before he came into the house he put booties over his shoes. Nice, but not necessary. He performed his check on my AC and said that it was low on Freon. My shock was the cost of freon..$170 for the first Lb. $67 for the second. The last time I had freon added I was charged $68 and no charge for the service call. Surely it has gone up since then but I was surprised at the price. Overall he appeared to be thorough and was professional and clean. No problem there but I think I would do a bit more research before I use them again.

Description of Work: I used John's Refrigeration to fix a breaker yesterday.

Description of Work: This was a co-sponsored a/c pre-season check-up with another company. He checked the furnace a/c in the attic. He also checked the back yard unit and showed me how to clean the coils. While in the attic he repaired at no extra cost a minor leak that had been reported by my pre-purchase inspector.

Description of Work: They installed a heater and air conditioner in my 2000 square foot home.
