Shawn was early for the appointment, called to let me know what time he would arrive. He was extremely clean, left no mess and the installation looks great! I had purchased the doggie door elsewhere and he let me know that the door I purchased is known for some problems, I appreciated that he was upfront and let me know what could happen. I recommend speaking to him first before purchasing a door on your own!!

He did a great job. He was on time, professional, pleasant to work with and did an excellent job doing the installation...and he cleaned up afterwards. We had emailed several times before the installation...he responded each time to my questions quickly. I had decided to wait a few months as I wanted to be sure my newly adopted dog could swim and could find the steps out of the pool in case she fell in... his price was the same 4 months later, he responded quickly when I told him I was ready for the installation. And I live about 80 minutes from his location...and he was still on time and willing to come this far.

Sean is GREAT! He was here last week & looked at how a prior handyman installed our first pet door, and asked if we would consider allowing him to get a metal extender made for us to make the installation more secure for our cats. The price was more than reasonable, so I said OK. He returned when he said he would & did a fantastic job. My only regret is that I didn't ASK HIM about a pet door before buying one. If I had realized that he gave that advice, I would have waited & ordered through him to get a better door. Another reason I highly recommend Sean is because he understands that the quality of his work & the way he treats his customers has a direct impact on his success. Bravo! So true!

We previously had a patio door dog door panel, it served its purpose but meant we lost a lot of the benefit of the patio door and we lost a lot of cold air in summer and the flap only had a short shelf life (we have two large dogs who fly through the door so no surprise it took a battering). I decided to invest in a dog door set into the wall. I picked Desert Star Dog Doors based on other Angie's list reviews and was glad I did. The door itself was not cheap but the installation was reasonable. I decided to invest in the best door possible and the cost has been worth it. Shawn and I exchanged a few voicemails before we finally spoke, but he kept following up which was a good sign. When he arrived the original plan of putting the door by the patio door would not work due tto a load bearing beam so Shawn worked to find an alternative. The installation was quick, Shawn cleaned up the area and then walked me through the benefits of the door and the maintenance. I'd recommend him for anyone who is looking to have a dog door installed. The cost is not in the installation but in the product you buy and have him install.

I definitely recommend Shawn. We had originally purchased a dog door and were only interested in installation, but Shawn explained why the door we purchased was not a good one (could shut on dog's tail, etc.). He even spoke with other installers who confirmed that this particular door was terrible. So we decided to purchase a different brand- Shawn was able to order it for us and install very promptly. We are very happy with the dog door and the installation. The price was very reasonable for a large, double-flap dog door plus labor. Thanks again!

Called Desert Star and left a message which was returned. Determined what size door I would need over the phone. Approximately a week later Shawn came and installed Hale door in slump block. Took just under two hours. High quality door with high quality professional installation.

shawn was great. he first came out to see if he could fix the flap on my old dog door. it was possible but i decided to go with a new hale pet door instead. the price was quite high for the pet door but after much research & reading reviews i decided it was the best way to go. he returned to install the product & cleaned up afterwards.

Shawn was awesome. he returned my call promptly, and set up a estimate time. He arrived on time and measured the wall and the height of my large mastiff to make sure the right size door was purchased. We set up an install date and of course he called when he was on his was and was on time, actually a bit early which I loved. I have big dogs English Mastiff and Pit Bull/Greatdane mix, the door I needed was XXlarge and Shawn provided the door and installed it perfect in my wall. I am so pleased with his service and professionalism! I will definitely recommend him to my friends and family. Shawn was great - I feel like I'm repeating the reviews he had previously, but it's true - he's punctual, did a great job on the door, even when he ran into issues with my block wall (yikes!) he just calmly worked through it instead of having a fit. He was sure that the dogs would use the door before he left, and cleaned up thoroughly. The final bill was high, but it had more to do with what the dog door company charged, not Shawn. I should probably give props to Hale's door - it is a metal frame and should last well. It's just outrageously priced, but with 4 dogs I had to go with the best quality and at least they have a warranty. I am very pleased with the final results and only wish Shawn did additional work in other areas. He'd make a great carpenter.

Shawn returned my phone call promptly and was very personable. Although he no longer provides an in glass installation and I was unable to use him, he did spend considerable time on the phone providing me with tips on how to train our cats not to use a pet door and he gave me numbers of two in glass installation providers. It is always tough to find good providers, so I wanted to leave this review so that you know that Shawn appears to be an honest guy!

Shawn was great to work with from start to finish. He is very knowledgeable about pet doors and helped me decide the door that best fit our needs. Shawn arrived with the Hale door we had agreed on and did an exceptional job installing the door. He was a pleasure to do business with and I highly recommend him. We were concerned about cutting a hole in our wall for the door but the job was done exceptionally well and the door looks great.

Shawn arrived on time and was very courteous and pleasant. He did a great job and completely cleaned after himself. He was professional and very nice. He took his time to do a throrough job and the doggie door looks fantastic. I highly recommend him for installing your doggie door. He will install any door you want, but I recommend spending the extra money to get a Hale Door, it is my understanding that they will last longer and are more energy efficient. I found him on Angie's List. Also, he seems very comfortable around dogs. All three of mine loved him and he took a few moments to pet and introduce himself to them. It was a pleasant experience annd I am very happy with the finished product!

Shawn was a pleasure to work with and very accommodating. I will definitely use him again and recommend him to anyone that asks. He went way beyond what I would expect someone to do in his position, and he did it twice. I'll explain as he deserves it - I submitted a form on his website and got a prompt reply from Shawn via email (as that is how he initially heard from me, the website sends him an email). We then discussed options over the phone and I wasn't sure which door I wanted to go with, so I said I would let him know. I sent Shawn an email saying I would go with the cheaper pet door from Home Depot (big mistake, but that's the next part) and would see him on the date and time we agreed to. Shawn didn't get my email as the service he uses had something configured incorrectly (this actually wasn't Shawn's fault). I didn't realize that and expected him to show up on Saturday after we moved into our new home (with the two dogs). Shawn didn't show and when I called him he was surprised (he never got the email). We figured out what happened and Shawn felt really bad about it (even though he personally didn't make the mistake). Honestly I should have called to confirm when he didn't reply, so I'm partially to blame (and he did tell me he prefers phone calls over email for that same reason). Shawn said "I'll come out today and take care of it for you". Which he did, on Sunday, because he's very focused on providing good customer service (Shawn's only day off is Sunday, but I didn't know that). He also said he would only charge me half of the install price due to the problem (although neither of us were actually responsible for it, but he didn't say that). Shawn came out to install the door I chose, which was not the first option he recommended to me (I chose the cheaper of the two options to save a couple hundred dollars). What Shawn and I didn't know was the new home has ridiculously thick walls and the cheaper door wouldn't fit. I then felt bad realizing I wouldn't have had this problem if I chose the door he recommended and spent the extra money. So I asked Shawn if I could still pay for the more expensive door as this one isn't going to work out. To my surprise he said yes and came back out on another day to install it. Before he left the first time he did what he could to make the other door work for us (so that the dogs could get in and out while waiting for the new door). When Shawn came out the second time I insisted on paying the full install rate (he technically still did two installs for the price of one). I had to bully him into taking it by convincing him that I wouldn't feel comfortable if he didn't take it. The guy came out twice and on a Sunday, and the problems he fixed weren't his fault. After all of this I'm very happy that we chose Shawn. He goes out of his way to make his customers happy and does an excellent job on the install (it's flawless actually, both inside and outside of the wall). Do yourself a favor and take his advice on the Hale Pet Door. Yes it's expensive, but it operates and looks completely different than the other door(s). Having both doors installed I can tell you there is a huge difference between the two. The Hale door looks much better as it blends in and only stands a quarter inch from the wall. It's also much quieter and has two heavy duty flaps with magnets on the bottom and sides that perform a tight seal. My wife is very picky about the look in our house and said "That door was definitely worth the extra money, it looks sleek and decorative vs. bulky and industrial".

Eric arrived on time. I had already decided where I wanted the door, but he explained that he could install the door in a door, beside a door, through the wall (including brick or concrete), just about anywhere. He showed me the features that make Hale doors stronger and more secure than most others, and when he got to work, he did a perfect job. The entire installation took a little over an hour, and that time might have been slightly shorter, but with my permission, another man came along to film Eric's work to use as a training film. The double-flapped door keeps both hot and cold air out of the house, as well as lighter weight critters you might not like to find inside your house, It also has a shatter-proof security panel that locks in at night or when i'm away from home. I'm pleased with my choice and most satisfied with Desert Star Per Doors. Eric made sure i knew I could phone if I should be unhappy with any part of the installation or with the product. They guarantee their work, and if you can handle the cost, you'll get your money's worth.

They did a very thorough and meticulous job. They cleaned up very well after the installation. The installation was very good and the dog door works well. It’s attractive with flowers on the surrounding wall and they did a very good job. I was very pleased. They did everything right. I will use their services again in the future.

Eric returned my initial call immediately, gave me a price, and set an appointment for a few days later. He arrived right on time and installed the door. He cleaned the workspace thoroughly before leaving. This was an excellent experience. I would highly recommend Eric to anyone needing a dog door.

While not the cheapest pet doors, they are the best with thick clear flaps and magnetic latches to assure a tight seal. Erik the owner does the work and his experience working with Hale for many years shows. Called ahead that earlier job was running a little over. Utmost patience and meticulous and precision work installing door through a wall under a window. Cutting a stud and moving electrical line all included with installation price. Wore shoe covers every time walking on carpet, placed tarps inside and outside and taped all around while cutting and caulking. Perfect clean-up. He is very proud of his precision work which is valued in a contractor. Would highly recommend Desert Star Pet Doors again.
