First Impression Ironworks

We were super excited to have our pool fence installed as that meant that we were one step closer to having our pool completed. We had read great things about First Impression so we didn't have any hesitation with using them to install our pool fence. From the start things went from good to bad rapidly. First Impression came out and measured around our pool to determine what they needed to build weeks prior to the actual installation. They came out and installed our pool fencing, which included two gates. Our pool fence has straight and curved sections. When my husband came home we went out and looked at the fence. It was horrible! The gates fell down toward the ground when opened and didn't even swing shut or auto-close (they were very crooked), which is required by city code. We were having our final pool inspection in the morning and we knew that we weren't going to pass with the fence and gates in the condition that First Impression left them in. At first we thought that maybe they just weren't finished and were trying to get the fence up prior to our final inspection, but emails and phone calls later we were told that wasn't the case - they thought the install was complete. The fence wasn't secured to our block wall on either side and we could have easily pushed it over. The gates didn't open or close properly. The fence sections themselves were not level and they had cut the fence in several places in an attempt to make it fit, leaving exposed steel. There really wasn't one thing that was positive about the fence at that point. They came back out to "fix it" and their fix was to install metal silver washers on the gates to make it work - so that it would open and close without falling. Seriously...washers?! They left again. First Impression had a Quality Assurance/Customer Representative stop by and he apparently didn't realize that we weren't happy with the install. He came back and I showed him where the fencing had been cut and where each section wasn't level. He stood there and raised, moved, and lowered his level and proceeded to tell me that the fence was level! He then proceeded to tell me that where they cut the sections that it was standard practice. I told him that I would let my husband work it out with them. Anyone could see with their naked eye that the fence was anything but level! It was so frustrating! After more phone calls and emails, someone from the Senior Management Team at First Impression was supposed to meet us at our house to determine how we could remedy the situation and solve the issues. They instead sent their "best installer" who happened to be the same person that installed and "fixed" our fence! And that is their "best installer"?! He admitted that there were issues, but that they had gotten by with much worse. What company representative says this to a customer?! My husband and I were appalled. We also asked about their customer service rep. telling me that the fence was level - when indeed - as we demonstrated with a level it was not. He had no answer. We asked why he threw his garbage from the job in our yard and just left it - he had no excuse and then we had to tell him to pick it up and take it with him. Instead of being embarrassed or apologetic at thi spoint he was just plain arrogant! The meeting to resolve issues solidified one thing - First Impression would not be welcome back at our house. Another company came in and tore out sections of the pool fence and replaced them. They fixed the fence and we never went back to First Impression. It wasn't until after we left a negative review for them did the President then attempt to contact us...too little, too late. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone - service, product, and quality all rated an "F".

Initially got off to a bad start. The estimator/sales person had scheduled an appointment with me on a Saturday am and throughout the morning and day he kept on putting off his appointment for a variety of lame reasons. I called the office and they sent another individual late in the day to cover for the worthless employee. After we got over this debacle, the individual who handled us though the process was Dave Henry. We are grateful for his professionalism, patience and follow up. The owner is also impressive and he follows the process and any issues. We love our door and window guard and are grateful that the company stands by their work as we recently had a couple of issue and the company handled them promptly with no problems. Impressive.

The installers arrived as promised and worked tirelessly to get the door installed. They explained what they were going to do, and how it would take, then they went to work. When they were done, they called me to inspect the door, and told me they were coming back the following week to glaze it, which they did. Gene loves what he does, and took his time to do a beautiful job when he returned to glaze the door. I get lot of compliments! I've also been contacted by First Impressions to make sure I'm happy with my purchase, and they also follow up by inspecting the door once the job is complete. I'll definately use them again!

I bought a beautiful steel security screen door from First Impression Security Doors. After about 14 months, I had a very minor maintenance problem. I spoke to someone at First Impression about it and was given a flat no about a warranty service call. I know First Impression wouldn't just desert its customers this way and I must have just been speaking to the wrong person. With Angie's List, we spoke to someone else and immediately was taken care of. My door is fixed and both Robbie and Chris were helpful, capable and are excellent reps for First Impression. Moral of the story -- Be sure you talk to the right person and not (hypothetical example) the new power-trip receptionist who is having a bad day and saying no to everyone and everything.

They sent an inexperience guy to put the lock and could not do it correctly. They sent someone else out to redo it. When you go to open to door from the outside it does not open it correctly because of a screen. The door doesn’t open complete but it does move it around after all of this time.

We purchased a security door and sun screens. We picked a color trying to match the light fixtures on the outside of the home. When the door arrived the color clashed with the house and we had to have it takes down and repainted. Make sure the color you pick is the exact color you want to avoid and extra re-paint fee. We had to pay $600 additional to what we paid for the door. Double check your screen order as well if you are debating on doing a window or not just do it. Trying to order one additional set after the fact is a lot more money, than if you order them together due to their minimum charge policy they have. Door looks great and screens seem to be helping keep out the heat. We had a couple issues but in the end everything has finally been corrected.

Contacted First Impressions regarding replacing my front door. Received courteous service and a fast appointment over the phone. The morning of my appointment I had to call to find out where the rep was 40 minutes after his scheduled arrival. They said he called my house, however, I was sitting at my desk all morning waiting for him, and neither my home phone, nor my cell phone rang. He apparently was sick that morning and asked to reschedule for the following morning. He came the next morning, we went through everything, he took all the information for the door and said we would meet at the store the following Thursday. He would call the confirm the next day because he didn't have his calendar. What sales rep goes to appointments without a date calendar? To date, I have yet to hear back. Today is the day I was suppose to go into their facility to review the quote and finish up details. Apparently, they have enough business and aren't interested in mine.

The person was here for installation on time . We were happy with how the door was installed froma security standpoint as well as astetics. The person cleaned up very well.

The process was smooth on the companies part. After almost two months, we received the approval from our HOA. The door was ready and waiting. Chad installed the door and did a great job of it. He explained how the lock worked and rekeyed it to our front door. He explained how to clean it and how to adjust the automatic door closure. The door looks fantastic. We love it and would definitely use the company again.

Everything went very smoothly. The gate turned out beautiful and we are very pleased with it!

The salesmen came to our home with samples of the materials to be used. After taking pretty concise measurements he gave us a written estimate for the designs we were considering. We spent time with him in the showroom to view some of designs we liked. We decided on a design to which we chose to make some design changes. Working with one of their designers, we received CAD drawings of what our proposed door would like. Once we settled on the design, the door was manufactured and installed within a week. The installer showed the same professionalism and attention to detail we experienced during the sales process. We are very pleased with the result and the general experience with First Impression Security Doors. The security door we purchased was not cheap, but we feel like the quality of the door and it's installation justified the pricing.

Smooth transaction from estimate to completion.

We had a security door installed by First Impressions at our previous home over 10 years ago and based on the quality of the door, we asked them for a bid on this large project at our new home. Dave Henry was excellent to work with and extremely professional. With Dave's help and guidance, we were able to achieve the design we were looking for at a price that met our budget for the project. The gate and doors were completed quicker than expected and the look and quality of the final product exceeded our expectations. We were most impressed with the craftsmanship of the installation crew, in particular the gentleman (Jorge, if I recall correctly) who installed the front entry door and Mike who did most of the final details. The front entry door is rounded at the top and the interior wall is curved, so we were not sure how things were going to turn out. Jorge installed the door perfectly including touching up with paint around the edges. You would never know it is not the original door. Mike came out again a week or so after installation to complete a few punch list items; we very much appreciated the attention to detail with which he looks at things. He made sure everything was perfect; not only to our untrained eye, but also adjusting things to ensure everything was perfect from his expert perspective as well. We are very pleased with our gate and doors from First Impressions. They installed products of the highest quality at a price that was competitive with the bids we received from lesser known companies. We are now planning a pool and patio project and are hoping to use them on that project as well.

First Impression recommended a screen design that was similar to what I already had. Construction and installation of the doors went very quickly, which surprised me as close to Christmas as I had it done. The design and quality of the screens were better than the screen that I already had. Overall, the price was reasonable and I was very happy with the finished product.

They arrived a few hours late for the install. It took them about 3 hours to install the two doors. Overall, it went smoothly. They do good work and their product is of high quality, although they are quite expensive.

We met their sales rep at a home show. He advised they had a good rating on Angie's list and patiently waited while I confirmed his claim on my Blackberry. They were very flexible in working with our schedules; coming to our house on the weekend when they said they would. The wrong hardware was inadvertently installed and they were very responsive in resolving the issue. We would use them again.

Estimate given 8-3-9. Sales person Matt Monahan brought samples of finishes and I selected one. Company was willing to refund my 50% deposit if HOA did not approve of color. Company able to provide me with list of homeowners in community who used the same color for their security door, thus expediting HOA approval for me. Installation occurred on 8-7-9. I was happy with the work. Door looks beautiful and other neighbors are interested in this product. The quality of this door is better than you get in the home improvement centers.

My initial contact was at the Scottsdale Arts Festival. The rep at the booth was very friendly and helpful and allowed me to look through their notebook full of pictures and designs. They have a fantastic website as well that can inspire ideas. The initial ballpark estimate was about half what I ended up spending but that was mostly due to the particulars of my door and configuration. If you have side lights that you want to include (I did, I like the consistency), you'll pay a lot more. And of course the design itself will change your price. Anyway Matt came to my house with samples and pictures and really helped me with design ideas and choices and gave me a written estimate. I sat on the estimate for at least a month, thinking about it and talking to my friends/family. Matt followed up once to see how I was doing during that time. I had decided I wanted a completely different design and asked him to come out again so I could see the finish colors again. He was extremely flexible with my schedule and came out on a Saturday afternoon and we designed my door together taking into consideration all of my concerns. I paid 1/2 up front and although he said it could be ready within 2 weeks, I knew I'd be getting my wood door refinished before the install and didn't know when that would be done. Matt said no problem, we'll just keep the door and when you're ready, call to make an appointment. The office called one time to see if I was ready and when I was they were able to install it within days on a day that worked for me. The install itself took longer than I expected, about 5 hours. They did a beautiful job, they were puctual, clean, articulate and friendly. There was no mess to clean up either. I couldn't be happier. After I was done I took a picture and sent it to Matt's email so he could see how it turned out. He called me within a few hours to share the excitement. I really had fun during the process and a lot of it was due to the great customer service by everyone. On a practical note, the sun screen material has made a huge difference in the temperature of my west facing foyer which gets really hot during the summer.

We ordered the door with the help of Kimberly the salesperson on Mother's Day, was told we would get a call to set a time for a final measurement of the door area, and paid half up front. The final measure went well. The install appt was made much sooner than we had thought which was fine with us. When the installer arrived with the door, he removed the existing door, and began working on the installation of the new frame and door. I really didn't inspect the new door, and neither did the installer as we both assumed it would be right. When he was almost complete I came out to look at it and noticed the kickplate we had ordered wasn't on the door. I checked our paperwork and it was clearly written that it was supposed to have a kickplate and it didn't. The installer called his mgr, and then told me that the mgr would be calling me to either offer me a discount to keep the existing door or change it to the way it was supposed to be. I spoke to my husband in the meantime and we decided we just wanted our door the way it was supposed to be made. When I spoke to Aaron the mgr. he was very apologetic and easy to deal with. He offered me a discount, but I told him that we just want the door we ordered. He understood and told the installer to remove it and that they would re build it and have it back to us in two days!! I was suspicious that it was going to be what we wanted in only two days, but Aaron reassured me and he was right. When it arrived two days later, it was gorgeous and secure as can be. It was exactly what we wanted. It was installed and the installer who was different from the original installer was very nice too. Everyone we dealt with were very friendly and professional. Great company overall to deal with and would use them again.

The service and workmanship was all excellent. The salesman came out did measurements and showed me different materials, colors and styles to choose from. Both the salesman and the installer were excellent.

They do excellent work and their services are excellent. I called them back to let them know how impressed I was. They have good quality doors. We had new doors installed 12 years ago and they did a horrible job. There is no comparison to these guys.

I did the research on Saturday after checking Angie's List. On Sunday we went to the showroom on 91st and Peoria. We got there late but Eric took the time to help us understand the product and to make our choices. We left with a contract for installation. They do all the work themselves so you are not at the mercy of a third party. Tuesday Felisha came by to measure and take pictures of the installation. Friday Al brought the finished frame and did all the fitting while here. He was very careful to have it all fit correctly and it looks really great. The window screen took a couple of phone calls to get finished but it was an add on when Felisha was here and not part of the original purchase. I have already referred them to three other people.

Very good overall. Super fast turn around. The workmanship is great. They were very professional, kept every appointment, called to confirm, and called to follow up. They are worth the money, highly recommend, and it's custom. In this case it was worth the money. They offer many options, and sound advice. This was a somewhat difficult install based on the home design, but they did a great job.

The door is incredibly beautifully done. There were a couple issues - some painting had to be patched on the screen part. The door didn't lock smoothly-it had been installed a bit off kilter. Someone came out and tried to fix it, then when that didn't work they sent the supervisor out and he remounted the whole thing so it works great now.

The door was custom made. They did an excellent job. When there was a problem with the door they were slow on repairing it. The quality is excellent. One person I spoke with about the problem, wasn't very cooperative.
