 + -1 moreDescription of Work: I had questions about work the Dealership said I needed to have done. I made a call to Hoffren's and was seen right away. The owner opened the hood and checked all fluid levels and got under the car and checked for any possible leaks. We had also checked at home for leaks and found none. I wanted someone with experience to check it out for us ,so that we could feel safe driving the car. At the dealership, I was told that I needed to replace a part that was very expensive and that if I didn't my car could just stop on me in the near future. I would definitely go back to Hoffrens. I plan to use them for all my automotive needs. He never once criticized the dealership. He was just talked about my car in an honest and straightforward manner.

 + -1 moreadThis is a busy place,so that shows it has a lot of people that like to have their cars and trucks worked on at the independent garage. So it took several days to schedule my routine 84,000 mile maintenance service, which is a minor one. Although I provided my maintenance book, the garage checked online for what was required did that, and did all of the things you need done, like checking fluids, brakes, tires, etc. I believe they did a very thorough job. Though they do not provide the service, they informed me that although my tires had sufficient tread that they were starting to crack due to age and i should consider new ones. Good safety advice, This is the kind craftsmanship I look for, rather than the drive thru oil and lube franchises.

 + -1 moreWe found Hoffrens in the phone book and thought we'd try them. Wayne hooked up his scanner and gave me the reason for the alarm and told me it probably caused by towing our trailer. He reset the light and told us to keep an eye on it.- NO Charge!!The light went on a week later just before our return to Chicago. We stopped by just to ask Hoffrens what they would suggest. Wayne checked the code again and it still indicated a poorly operating Cat. converter. I asked him the cost and he told me they didn't do that work (special tools) and told us he could give us the name of a reliable shop locally to do the work. He carefully explained the meaning of the code and told us we could wait until we returned to get the work done, The code was reset and away we went to Chicago.They wished a good trip-no charge.I will return to Hoffens for any and all repairs on both our cars. Great place ,smart people.
Description of Work: Diagnostic test to determine cause of check engine light on our pick up truck. We were from Chicago and didn't have any idea who to call. Hoffrens check our problem and told us what to do .

 + -1 moreEvery experience has been great. I've never felt like they overcharged me or that they did work that didn't need to be done.
Description of Work: Hoffrens has done work on all of our cars and for every member of our family. Wayne and Donald are very honest and have even told us something doesn't need to be done right away or if it can wait. When my battery died in the grocery store parking lot, I called Wayne and he brought a portable charger and a battery. I can not recommend them highly enough!
