We purchased our central air in 1999. Each time we've called, they arrived the following day and found the problem and resolved it. Once the condenser had gone bad and the second time, Freon was required. I read a previous review and was quite surprised because we've had nothing but fast professional service from Pennington Equipment.
Description of Work: Air unit not blowing cold air. Tech arrived the following morning and problem resolved.

We have had nothing but problems with the unit and the company. Since 2008 we have had to have it serviced several times a year and have even had additional damage done to our home by incorrect installation procedures. We kept calling them back because of warranty, Even when improper installation caused damage they tried to bill us for labor. When you do have a problem they are slow to return calls, if they bother to return them at all. My husband had to physically go to office in the past week to speak to someone. We have been waiting again for service for 3 weeks. Even after going into the office. The elder Mr Pennington was there but claimed ignorance and claimed he was retired -speak to his son. The younger Mr Pennington has yet to call us back. Very unprofessional and customer service is just not there at all. I would not reccomend to anyone.
Description of Work: We hired this company to install heating and cooling system in 2008. Estimate was given by elder Mr. Pennington and we were assured top of line unit and high rate of service and would have no problems with this unit.

When we originally purchased the system, the elder Pennington designed the system to suit our home and gave us a lot of personal attention to guide us through the process. I've had to have the unit serviced several times since then and thankfully it is still under warranty even the labor. The last time they came they charged me 106 dollars because somehow a breaker had gotten thrown and we didn't know it, but it took us several tries to get some help. I will continue with them until my warrant runs out and then I will switch to someone a little more easy to deal with.
Description of Work: Gave us emergency numbers that were no good. Since the elder Mr. Pennington retired the service has been terrible. Very sad because he worked very hard to build a good business reputation and his heirs are letting it go down very fast. They will probably have to close the doors within the next few years if they don't change.

My furnace had been installed new on 02/08/2006. After working fine for over 2 years, we noticed that the fan continued to run after the heating cycle finished and we had to turn the furnace off to stop the fan. We called Pennington Equipment Sales, Inc. who sent a serviceman out. He checked the furnace and left to get the part to repair the furnace which he said was the sequencer. Even though he had just checked the furnace, and saw that my furnace uses a double sequencer, he returned with a single sequencer and proceeded to tell me that he had got the wrong sequencer but the single sequencer would work, that he could mount it. I am ignorant about electricity or furnace issues which is why I called a professional business in the first place. After a little while, my husband noticed that there was heat coming out of the furnace intake area. I did not know if that was normal or not and he suspected that it was not right, so we would turn the furnace off and use our wood stove when we were home. After several months of this we called Pennington Equipment Sales with the complaint, and we wanted our air-conditioner boosted with freon, which had started losing it's cooling ability. Pennington Equipment again sent out the same serviceman who found nothing wrong with the heater and supposedly primed the air-conditioner. The problem with the heat coming from the intake vent continued. I have 5 small dogs, and I was afraid to leave the house with the heat on. We decided to call another heating and air-conditioning company, Appalachian Heating. This serviceman found that the wrong sequencer had been installed and wired wrong. He replaced the single sequencer that had been installed by Pennington Equipment Sales with the double sequencer that should have been installed in the first place and put 2 1/2 pounds of freon in my air-conditioner and only charged me for one. There are 2 prominent burn marks on the back of the sequencer that Pennington mounted the single one to. I called Pennington Equipment Sales, and reported what had been found. The lady who I spoke with immediately became defensive telling me that Appalachian's serviceman could write anything on their invoice, said I still had to pay for the service call and that she was hanging up and did just that. I filed a complaint with the BBB and sent Pennington copies of the documents, including a photo of the burn marks on the back of the sequencer. They still deny any responsiblity for the mistake and instead of realizing their man could have burned my home down, they began attacking the credentials of the serviceman who fixed my heater even though they claimed their serviceman had over 30 years experience, who rigged up a repair instead of going back and getting the right part. I will honor the decision of the BBB but I would never do business with Pennington Equipment Sales if they were the only Heating & Airconditioning Company in the state of West Virginia. Shame on you Mr. Pennington.
Description of Work: My furnace fan was not shutting off when the heating cycle finished.
