On July 27th, 2012 my neighbor and I received a written estimate from Jeff Roush for us to each have a whole house generator installed. Specifically, the requested installation needed to occur prior to September 22nd as my wife and I were taking an extended vacation and my elderly mother would be babysitting the farm during our absence. Upon the word of Mr. Roush that he could meet this timeline and his estimate of $650.00 for the installation we agreed to contract with him for this service and completed the purchase of the generator for $4,300.00. Per his instructions we were to call him as soon as we knew the delivery date so he could be here same or next day. Mr. Roush was called on September 1st to advise of a September 7th delivery date. No answer, no return call. Mr. Roush was called on September 7th to inform him the generator was delivered and waiting for him to hook it up. Mr. Roush answered and said he would be there as soon as possible. Mr. Roush was called again every day, sometimes twice daily, for the next couple of weeks but no answer and no return call. I continued calling Mr. Roush and on occassion his wife or daughter answered the phone and promised he would return my call but he never did. In the meantime, I lost power and spent approximately $500 in gas to run my portable generator. I also went on vacation with my wife and my mom lost power here on the farm several times while we were gone, but only for a few hours at a time and did not have to use the portable generator though it was set up and ready for her if it was needed. We returned from vacation and I continued to call Mr. Roush every couple days occassionally talking to his wife or daughter, but he could never be bothered to give me the courtesy of a return phone call. I was persistant because Mr. Roush's price was right and it was costing me enough money for the generator. Finally, in mid-November, after complete and total frustration, I decided to stop by Mr. Roush's shop to see if he was really so busy that he was never there to answer the phone and there he stood when I walked in the door. He began rattling off his various excuses for his total lack of proffessionalism, but told me his workers would be done with the job they were working on by the next week and would give me a call. Well, it ended up being more like 2 weeks, but they finally came and completed the job. The workers did a good job, but Mr. Roush did NOT HONOR HIS ESTIMATE OF $650.00 AND CHARGED ME MORE THAN DOUBLE!!! He also charged my neighbor more than double. BUYER BEWARE! I would never recommend this contractor to anyone!
