Description of Work: No bid a bathroom remodel that required replacing 1927 original tile with new tile. It is not Savers' specialty, but he referred me to the Tile Shop, which provides a recommended list of high quality tile installers. It was wonderful advice.
Kitchen Savers was prompt, efficient and professional. The finished job looks fantastic. One caveat is that I strongly suggest you include all the items you will likely want done in the original work order. We did this and found our "nice to haves" were reasonably priced, and we're very glad we added them on the original contract. However, we did think off a couple of minor things, and found that change orders tended to be pricey. Having said that, I would have no hesitation hiring this company for future work.
Description of Work: New custom made doors on all cabinets, door panels on refrigerator, replaced all kitchen cabinet shelving. I thought their price was fair.

LET ME START BY SAYING THAT THE WORK MEN, WERE REALLY GREAT!!!! KITCHEN AND BATH ARE ONE OF THE HIGHEST PRICED ON THE MARKET IN THE MILWAUKEE AREA. WOULD I HIRE THEM AGAIN, NO. I WENT TO HAVE THE SALES PERSON QUOTE ME ON ANOTHER BATHROOM AND THEY ARE REALLY PUSHY. TELLING YOU WHAT YOU NEED AND THAT IT WAS CODE WHEN IT REALLY WAS NOT. I CHECKED WITH MY PLUMBING INSPECTOR IN OAK CREEK, AND THE STATEMENT THAT THE SALES PERSON MADE WAS NOT TRUE. I FEEL THEY TELL YOU THAT STUFF SO THEY CAN ADD TO THE BILL. I FELT LIKE $8000.00 WAS WAY TO MUCH FOR WHAT I RECIEVED AND OTHER ESTIMATES WERE ALOT LOWER. I CHOOSE THEM BECAUSE OF ANGIE'S LIST. I HAVE HIRED 4 DIFFERENT CONTRACTORS ON ANGIE'S LIST BECAUSE OF THE REVIEWS AND ONLY 1 OF THEM WAS WORTH ANYTHING. THE REST WERE JUNK. SO BEWARE. I AM ONLY SAYING THIS AS I AM A 65 YEAR OLD WOMEN AND THEY ARE TAKING ADVANTAGE OF ME.

I smile every time I walk into the kitchen. I love how our new cupboard and drawer fronts look. They make the whole room look fresh and updated. Everything about this process was great. It began with salesman Carl Carroll, whom we met at the NARI show. When some of the other vendors heard that we wanted just new cabinet fronts, they didn't give us the time of day. A small job like ours wouldn't be worth their time, I guess. Carl met us, and showed us what our options were. We needed a bit of an "education" about the various choices and the process. He did not just try to push us to the most expensive option. When he came to our house, his first estimate included a couple of additional things (such as counter and sink) which we decided we could not afford. We called Carl to tell him that we weren't ready, and he was very polite, and said he'd keep our information if we changed our minds. A couple months later, we asked for a new estimate for doors-only refacing. The cost was reasonable-- less than half of the previous estimate. When chooosing the style and hardware, their showroom provided many good options, but not so many that we were overwhelmed. The new door and drawer fronts were built beautifully, and stained to perfectly match the existing woodwork. The installation was flawless, and included self-closing doors which are nice and quiet. No more slamming noises. We could not be happier with the installers' work. As I said before, we are very, very happy with the lovely changes Savers' made to our kitchen.

Very helpful in finding the type of countertops that best suited our kitchen. Work was completed in one day and the installers were very professional.
Description of Work: Installed new countertops and kitchen sink.
Worked with Dean S - Sales Director - he was great and gave me some good ideas as to what would work in my kitchen. The tear out went quick with less mess than I expected. The countertops were delivered and installed on time and are beautiful. The backsplash and crown molding were done professionally. Although I think the price was a little high, I am very happy with the way everything went and I love my new kitchen. I would hire them again.
Description of Work: Removed and replaced old countertops with granite. Replaced chair moldings with crown moldings. Tiled backsplash with marble tiles. Installed new sink, faucets, garbage disposal, and dishwasher.
From the start, they were very professional, courteous, and helpful in aiding us in exploring options and making final choices. They were on time for all appointments and completed the project in 8 days of the 8-10 day estimate. The planning that they put into scheduling the various jobs was impressive. They dealt very professionally with our community's code compliance officers in both areas of plumbing and electrical work. All the work met codes satisfactorily. Their craftsmanship was excellent throughout. They were just as thorough in cleaning up each night and when the whole project was completed. We highly recommend them to anyone wanting this type of work done.
Description of Work: Kitchen remodel-including refacing cabinets and installing a granite counter top, stainless steel sink, dishwasher, new lighting, and new flooring. They also were very willing to assist us with several side projects such as updating all the electrical work in the house to code compliance, installing bathroom cabinets and hanging a new ceiling fan.
The work went very well. It took 2 days to complete the work. They cleaned up very well at the end of each day. The cost included an allowance for 2 Delta faucets and drains we selected at Rundle-Spence. We contacted a plumber to install those fixtures.
Description of Work: Installed Corian countertops and sinks in 2 bathrooms. Installed new wooden cabinet doors and drawer fronts on 1 bathroom vanity.

The outcome was beautiful. We could not be happier. The installer was meticulous. Every door and drawer is perfect. All the doors have the self-closing hinges. The installation took about 4 days including the counter top and there was never a mess left behind. Everything was clean as a whistle when we came home from work. We were very impressed with every detail. We had a minor glitch with regard to the price on the quarter rounds but the company resolved it with us to our satisfaction. We did feel this was a premium price although we did not match apples to apples. However, in the end we felt it was worth it because the quality is outstanding. Also it would have been nice to see more of a breakdown on the pricing.
Description of Work: Replaced all cabinet doors with custom made, solid, hardwood doors. Installed crown molding around tops of cabinets, quarter rounds along the floor, new bread board. All doors were custom stained to match the existing cabinetry (solid oak). New hardware on all doors and drawer fronts. Also installed custom Corian counter top and sink.

It seemed to have gone well. My wife and I were out of town so my children were at home. They started the jobs as promised and completed on time. They did have to come back to fix a plumbing part and and replace a seal. They were always professional and took care of things as expected. I would have liked to have a more complete breakdown of the individual costs but that was more my fault. Since they had done Kitchen replacement a few years earlier we did not get a competing bid.
Description of Work: Bathroom:: bathtub removed, and shower installed along with upgrade of plumbing to the shower, and drains. Shower surround. Back splash in kitchen around sink and stove. Installed kitchen roll out drawers
Kitchen Savers had provided restoration services to our cabinets about 20 years ago and the work had held up very well, so when it was time to update the kitchen again we included them in our research. They not only provided the best offer, but they were able to provide a match to our old cabinet finish so that not all the cabinetry surfaces needed to be replaced--this was their suggestion to help us to keep our costs down. The installers arrived promptly at the scheduled date and time and completed the job in the estimated time. The only "gripe" we had was that the subcontractor who handled the granite trimmed the countertop outdoors, but did not have us remove our car from the vicinity, resulting in granite dust on the car. We reported this to the Kitchen Saver representative to be sure this did not happen to others. The installers were all courteous and very careful, and kept the dust and inconvenience to a minimum. The installation was completely satisfactory and looks great! A minor adjustment to a cabinet door was needed 1 week later, and the company responded immediately. We are happy to recommend Kitchen Savers to others.

They gave me an estimate. They prefer larger kitchen remodeling jobs. They did a big kitchen remodeling 5 years ago. Electrician and licensed plumber were subbed out. Also included a new faucet with a spray hose. The work was extraordinarily good. The work was coordinated well. Everyone came out on time it was coordinated well and it was a beautiful.

We started with Dean S, a sales director, and he was very thorough and showed us a lot of different options that we had. He has very easy to work with and made the selection process seamless for us. The installation process of both the countertop and tile work was very difficult. There was not a lot down time, and they worked tirelessly to get the installations done. Our tiles were installed by Travis, and were installed over a 3 day stretch. He worked without taking breaks, and did top notch job. I can't say enough about the craftsmanship of our tiles, they look beautiful in our home.
Description of Work: We hired Kitchen Saver for new countertops and cabinet hardware to be installed, and also had a lot of tile work done on the wall.

Generally the project went quite well and we are happy with what we got. Inevitably in a project of this size there were a few tense moments, but problems were solved amicably. The price actually have been quite good, but seemed a bit high to us in that
Description of Work: By the time we got to Kitchen Saver we pretty well had the design we wanted for our small kitchen down in some detail. Work they performed included tearing out old cabinets and installing new ones, including some Korner King lazy susan insets that we purchased separately, removing old countertops and installing new ones, removing old vinyl flooring and installing new, tearing out old wall tiling and installing new, tearing out old sink and subcontracting with a plumber to install the new one, and repairing a stairway railing. We worked with different contractors to remove wallpaper and re-paint; install an electrical subpanel, move the overhead light, and install undercabinet lighting; and move a window. This additional work was not part of the $25,000. Except for installing an above the range microwave, appliances were not replaced, but rather simply the stove and refrigerator exchanged locations.
Plumber they used was great. The tile guy was outstanding. He fixed rotted flooring under the toilet and then carefully matched tile. I would not recommend the shower door company they used. They guy came out and blamed broken tiles on a bad wall.Dave however made it right and got the tile I needed and it was installed. Overall the project went well and was completed on time.
Description of Work: Kitchen Saver did my kitchen 2 years ago and now remodeled my bathroom. They did an excellent job. Carl and Dave were great to work with. I would recommend this company to anyone.
The sales man was professional and personable, the installers were very knowledgeable and friendly. They did a wonderful job cleaning up and were done relatively quick.
Description of Work: They replaced our cabinet doors, installed a new dishwasher, designed and installed new cabinet where portable dishwasher used to reside, installed new cabinet next to dishwasher. Installed new counter tops, sink, & faucet. Also tile backsplash.

We made various trips and KS was good about letting us check out samples for purposes of designing the project. The salesperson came and measured for kitchen countertops and a sink. I would think this was an estimated measurement because it certainly was not precise enough to fabricate granite. I asked if they used subcontractors at all and was told an emphatic no. They do in fact subcontract out at least some aspects of the counter and sink installation. A few days later I received a verbal quote over the phone. I thought it seemed high, but this was our first quote. The salesperson would not itemize the quote or put it in writing. He did say he would match any other quote. All of this left me feeling I'll at ease about KS. The other quotes we later received from other granite installers were at least $2,000 less. I contacted KS and asked if they would match the other quotes as promised. He said he would, but still refused to send me an itemized quote via email as all the other companies did. In the end, We just had a negative feeling about KS and their lack of professionalism in the manner they conducted business so we chose a different company. It seemed like they just give an outrageous quote in the hope you will quickly sign on the dotted line without checking with their competitors to see what the market value really is.
Description of Work: We were looking for quotes to replace our kitchen countertops with granite countertops. We were really hoping Kitchen Saver would be competitive because we live near their store and want to support neighborhood businesses.

Description of Work: Gutted and remodeled kitchen and half bath.
The price negotiation was a bit tricky because they didn't itemize their original estimate. They paid attention to details and their installer was professional and skilled. Overall quality of their work was quite good.
Description of Work: Resurfaced old kitchen cabinets and replaced all cabinet doors. Replaced all kitchen drawers and fronts. Upgraded kitchen counters from laminate to quartz and added lighting for the counters. Replaced kitchen sink and faucet. Tore off old wall covering and replaced with tile. The 7' x 3' peninsula piece had two black spots on it both measuring 3/16" across. They said the flaws could be fixed and sent a representative from the fabricating company out to repair the counter. He drilled out the two spots and filled them, but the black still showed so he drilled out the filling. He made the holes bigger in order to remove all the black foreign matter. Refilled holes and buffed. That left two gray blobs surrounded by two quarter sized dull spots. In attempting to fix the spots he created a two foot by one foot dull area. The problem was getting bigger and worse not better. At this point the fabricator decided to bring the supplier of the flawed quarts - the Dupont representative out to look at it. I assumed he was hoping they might take responsibility for the flawed material. That didn't happen. He looked, he said I should love their flawed product. But if I didn't the fabricator could fix it. The third attempt dulled the entire counter, left a 6 inch circular mark on the counter along with two scratches and two rough areas. When I expressed my dismay at their third flaw solving attempt to Dave at Kitchen Save he said he and Dean would come out and look at it. Dean showed up - no Dave. He had never seen the counter. He brought samples of quartz counters like mine only his had a tiny dark flaw on each one. He told me this was normal and I was being unreasonable to complain about a small flaw. I told him I had at least seventeen of those little flaws on my counter and I wasn't complaining about them. I was complaining about the two big black blobs and the destruction of the counter when they tried to fix it. He challenged my statement and asked to see my tiny flaws. I proceeded to point them all out and actually found more than seventeen. That took the wind out of his big argument. He then stated the counter was fine and I must accept it. I said no, he became angry, raised his voice and demanded his money. I said I didn't want to pay for a counter that was damaged. He continued yelling and demanded money. He started following me around the kitchen. He threatened to have the BBB come after me. He was very intimidating. I was crying. I tried to position myself away from him, but he kept moving toward me yelling I had to pay, all I could think of is that I wanted him out of the house, he wouldn't leave unless I paid, so I paid him. I'm a 63 year old single female and I never thought twice about letting work men into my home when I was alone. After this experience I'll make sure someone is with me in the future. I never want to experience something like that again.
Description of Work: I purchased a Dupont Zodiac Quartz countertop from retailer Kitchen Saver, Inc. It's white with small flecks of light.

Response from Savers Kitchen & Bath
We installed new natural DuPont Zodiaq quartz countertops at the member’s home on September 8, 2009. She voiced a concern over two “spots” in her countertop she deemed flaws. Variations in particulates in natural stone tops are normal and do not constitute defects. (See attached disclaimer found on all samples of such product). The spots really bothered her, so we had our fabricators go to the home, drill them out, and repair said area. After repair was made, we attempted to collect the final payment. She said she was unhappy with the repair. We had the fabricator out two more times & they buffed out the entire countertop. When we contacted her again about payment, she stated that all the scratches were removed from the countertops, but she felt she was entitled to a discount on the job because she felt the countertops lost some sheen in the repair process. Mr. Dean Stephan from our firm went out to her home & brought along every sample of the countertops that we have in our showroom. Upon inspection, Mr. Stephan showed her samples compared to her existing countertop & asked her if she could see any noticeable difference, to which she replied “No”. The member felt she should get a discount anyway for her trouble. Mr. Stephan agreed to reduce her final payment due by $200.00 and she paid the remainder. Samples may not be an exact replication of what will be installed. Variations in the gloss, color, shape and pattern of distribution of natural stone, quartz and the tone of the background, are inherent and unique characteristics of this product. This variation does not affect the product performance in any manner. The Zodiaq countertops in her home are beautiful. There are not scratches or dullspots as she claims in her letter, and if there were, we would be more than happy to repair them. Kitchen Saver is also a member of NARI and if she would like, we could have an arbitrator inspect the countertops to determine if the countertops meet industry standards. Best Regards, Larry E. Chase - Vice-President, Kitchen Saver, Inc.
