You know what? Randy (business owner) just uses good, honest and sound business practices. Treat people right, be reasonably reliable, don't rip them off, do a good job and be honest. What a novel concept. Its funny, true and sad all at the same time that so many can't do these basic things. For this same exact repair, a BMW dealership had wanted to charge me $1,025 (over double!). State Of The Art: $475.96. I know that the BMW dealership has more overhead, but over double? The parts price to me was about $125.00 from Randy. So, the other company's labor charges $900 or $180/hr for labor? The bottom line here is this. You won't be sorry using State Of The Art Import Auto. I've used them before and I'll use them again. Honest, fair, a good job and professional. Talking with Randy is a breeze. No arrogance here. He is so easy to understand, so accessible and he'll explain and show things that are involved with a repair. Use them in confidence and NO reservations. I'm a believer in them.
Description of Work: The car: '03 BMW 330xi (AWD). Had two new front, left & right CV boot kits replaced with their axle output shafts removed, cleaned and re-greased. About a recommended or prescribed 5 hrs. book job.

They got the car fixed really quick. They did a nice job and I felt they were very honest. I certainly felt that it was a very fair price. I will use them again for future service.
Description of Work: My car broke down on Saturday, when they aren't open. One of the workers was there and took the car in even though they were closed. They then did the repairs on Monday.

I took my 2003 Honda Pilot into the dealer (with whom I also have had good experiences) for routine 75K maintenance. They told me that I needed new brake pads for about $250.00 per axle (with machined rotors). I found State of the Art on Angie's List and took it there for another bid. As I have had previous problems with rotors warping after machining, I was extremely happy when Randy quoted me the brake job with new rotors for only about $100.00 more (this would have been about $800.00 at the dealer). I made an appointment about 3 working days in advance. They did the work promptly.
Description of Work: Front and rear brake job including pads and new rotors.

Great! Look for State-of-the-Art coupons in your mail. They're good for oil changes, tire rotations, etc. and discounts off repairs. The $40 figure is for a complete inspection, including tax, etc.
Description of Work: Randy is honest and has been keeping my '98 VW Golf running great for the past couple of years. He's easy to reach by phone and email and his shop is right on the bus line, so it's easy to leave the car with him for repairs.

I called State of the Art after finding them on Angie's List to make an appointment for the Ford. As it happens, my husband and I were also about to buy a used BMW. Randy advised me to have him look at it before making the purchase. I brought the BMW in on a Thursday and he did a thorough exam and gave me a full report for about $55. The Ford went in on Friday, he had it running beautifully by the time he was done with it. I have gone back to him two more times since then, once to fix the passenger side window on the BMW (a problem he pointed out to me when he examined it) which came in slightly under his original estimate, and once to examine a possible electrical problem with the locks. In all instances, Randy has been generous with his time and willing to go the extra mile. He is extremely enjoyable to work with. We have found a keeper!
Description of Work: Randy fixed a suspension problem in our Ford Escape by replacing the right front sway bar for $97.63. On separate occasions he examined a used car we wanted to buy for about $55, replaced the automatic window opener on a BMW for about $240 (and installed our new license plates), and replaced a headlight on the BMW and explored a problem with the door locks for $18.

Randy is very honest and tells it straight. He could have made more money not mentioning some things, but told us what we needed to know instead. How wonderful to find an honest mechanic that really knows his stuff!!

I was very pleased with the service and friendly, but professional staff. They were very accommodating with my schedule, since I am caring for a newborn. Also, the cost was less than the estimate received from my dealership, and I didn't have to deal with any pressure for an "excellent" rating. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for auto service.

I was able to have Randy survey the problem the same day I called. Even though the noise was intermittent, he pinpointed the problem. After the weekend, the heat shield attachment was repaired in less than 1/2 hour at a very reasonable charge.

We had a serious problem with our 4 wheel drive, where the car felt like it was dragging in reverse. Randy said that he could try to flush the transmission, and if it wasn't corrected in 3 weeks, the part would need to be replaced-$1,000. I was actually a little rude with him wondering if we were just wasting money with the flush, but we tried it. Sure enough after 2.5 weeks, the problem totally disappeared! I called his wife to thank her and let her know that it worked! They were very reasonable and honest service people.

Randy strikes me as a fair and honest mechanic. He tells it like it is, and we have always had excellent service delivered in a prompt manner. He sends around coupons in the Value Packs for BOGO free oil changes, and that is fantastic! We have taken all of our autos there, and he has been able to keep us on the road.

My overall experience was great! They were quick. I was able to drop the car off after hours and they were even available after 5:00 the next day when I was a little late to get my car. Randy was willing to show me exactly what he did and what I should look for in the future. He was nice and so was his wife who runs the office. They even have a 10% AAA discount. I am really happy and will go back because I feel good about the fact that they fix only what really needs to be fixed and are honest about where I should spend money on my car.
Description of Work: My check engine light came on and I needed to know what was wrong. Randy checked the car out and did what any good repair man should do, (but most of them don t) he fixed the least expensive thing and told me to come back if I had any other problems or the check engine light cam on again. All he had to do was fix a little tube that was cracked but he did look for any other problems that would need attention-there were none. The actual repair was about $17 and I have not had any problems in the more than 150 miles I have driven since the repair. It was a good honest deal!

My service light came on after getting gasoline one day. I stopped by without an appointment so that I could ask them about it. It was just a poor seal on the gas cap because I didn't screw it on correctly. Randy had time so he took care of turning the service light off on my dash right then and there. They are just so nice to deal with.
