 + 0 moreSteve worked about 40 hours on the whole project in 90 degree heat. The basement inside and out looks fantastic. The water leakage inside the basement is gone. Great job. He has a great personality, and is very down to earth to talk to. He will be my go to repairman in the future.
Description of Work: Patch all holes and cracks on inside and outside foundation walls. Prime outside with Loxon. Painted outside with 25 year super paint. Painted inside walls with "DRY LOK" a waterproof sealer.

 + -1 moreWent fine. Steve charged by the hour ($25/hr, 1.5 hours or so), it seemed very affordable. He seemed careful, and I am happy with the results. The screen door does not quite close now, a few weeks later, but I think it did when Steve had finished the work (and it is old and bent anyway)... it was good to have an affordable way to not have to get a whole new door.
Description of Work: Steve fixed an exterior side door to our detached garage (regular door, not overhead garage door) so it was not sticking against the bottom plate. Also re-attached closing mechanism to aluminum screen door.

 + 1 moreSteve showed up on time every day he came out, if not early. He is an extremely nice guy and has a lot of character...he was easy to work with. The end result is great. Everything he did is quality work. Steve is very meticulous and detailed. He really wants everything to be done right. Lastly, he is trustworthy. I would trust Steve to come into my home and work without me being there to supervise. He has a reasonable hourly rate and does a good job of keeping track of his time...he won't overcharge. All in all, I would hire Steve again without question.
Description of Work: Steve helped me with a complete kitchen re-model, from demolition to final tiling and plumbing. Steve is a guy who knows about everything there is to know about home repair and re-modelling. This is what he helped me with: He helped me demo my kitchen including the removal of cabinets and countertops. He helped me move major appliances. He helped me install new cabinets (and believe me, he knows what he is doing...my cabinets were less than an 1/8" out of square after completion in a house that is far from square). He repaired drywall and installed concrete board for a backsplash. He installed my glass tile backsplash which was an detailed job. He helped me re-run a gas line to better fit my stove. He helped me re-install my major appliances. He installed my range hood. He ran my electrical for my dishwasher and garbage disposal. He installed my garbage disposal. He then ran my plumbing underneath my sink and disposal. Finally he helped me trim out my cabinets and floor. I also had him fix a broken window for me. Steve was involved in nearly every aspect of the kitchen remodel.

I do not know how to praise him - he is very professional, punctual, and finished his work very accurately. He charges very nominally at $25/hour. Once again, I highly recommend Steve for any household work.

 + -1 morePut off finding a handyman for my new Condo until the garbage disposal blew up. As long as he was coming decided to replace an old toilet. Called on a Wed. he was here by Sat. He replaced the garbage disposal, went and got the toilet and had it installed in record time and NO LEAKS! (He even tried to convince me that he could fix the old toilet and save me the money). Will definitely be using him again for the to do list. Also gave his name to my Mom who has work to do at her hoome.

 + 2 moreSteve did a great job. I especially appreciated that he taped a settlement crack going across my kitchen ceiling. This meant more plastering and sanding for him, but I feel confident the crack will not be reappearing. He suggested this was the best way to repair the crack. He worked over about three days, preparing the kitchen first and then painting. The hallway walls were in rough shape and needed a lot of repair. It appeared they had previously been wallpapered. The walls had never been properly prepared for paint. So he took the time to make sure the job was done right.
Description of Work: Steve painted my kitchen and back hallway, including the ceiling.

 + 3 moreI feel very fortunate to have found Steve on Angie's list. He moved to the Milwaukee area from Grand Rapids a while back, so he is new to the area and all the better for his customers! Steve takes great pride in his work. For example, to prep the walls for painting, he came back over a three-day period to patch, sand, and prime (some spots) before the paint was applied. Some times he only needed to be here an hour. He worked steadily and was conscientious. His price is $25 per hour. It was a bonus that he could replace my old outlets, as well as paint. He seems to have a number of handyman skills, and I will certainly call him for odd jobs that come up.
Description of Work: $400 to paint two upstairs bedrooms and replace the outlets with three-pronged style. $125 to paint two basement walls with dry-loc type paint. This included repairing cracks. I provided the paint for both projects.

 + 0 moreOn a Sunday night my hot water faucet would not turn off and I could not turn off the main valve. I managed to adjust the leak to just a very heavy drip, but was desperate to get it repaired a.s.a.p. I called Steve on Monday morning; he was currently on a job but he came out as soon as he was available (within a few hours of my call.) Steve was able to turn off the main hot water valve under the sink. He discussed with me the pros and cons of repairing vs. replacing the faucet. He said he had a faucet at home already and could bring it out the next day, which he did. I was not able to compare prices, as I needed the job done right away but I am assuming that he charged me a fair price for the faucet and labor. I appreciated the prompt service.
Description of Work: Steve replaced a faucet and spray hose in my kitchen sink.

 + -1 moreWe made an appointment, he came on time gave me an estimate that was good. He came to start the job, and he was sick as a dog. We went to the home remodeling store together to purchase the supplies for the job. We got back to the house, discovered there were various missing parts that were not in the packaging. We went back to the store and got all the parts only to get back to the house, and discover the screws for the toilet were too small that called for a third trip to the store. It came time to set the toilet in place; it took both of us to move it into place. He was so sick but stayed to do the work I am very pleased. I paid him more than he asked for because he was very ill, and stayed to complete the job even though there were several setbacks.
Description of Work: He took out a shower door, replaced the toilet, re-caulked the bathtub, and hung a light fixture.

He was a very pleasant, hard-working individual, who really seemed to care about the quality and aesthetics of the job. In this regard, he was a pleasant change of pace from most contractors we have worked with. We were very pleased with his work overall, and would definitely hire him again.
Description of Work: Installed backer board and 12 x 12 ceramic tile and bullnose in bathroom (tub surround and floor) and kitchen floor. Steve took extra time to make sure the floor was level and then laid out all the tile to make sure that the joint patterns would look good before installation.

I found another painter who came out and quoted me $650 for the job which both my husband and I felt was excessive for the size of the room. I found Steve on the list and called him. He was able to come out the next day and gave me a quote of $100.00. He said he would need to work in the early evening to get the job done as quickly as we wanted it done, which was fine with us. He encouraged us to buy a better quality paint to cover better. We did so, but it needed another coat anyway. He did the additional coat for no additional charge. He was prompt, polite and we will use him again.
Description of Work: Painted small 40 inch by 40 inch powder room including ceiling and wood work.

 + 2 moreWe were referred to Steve by our real estate agent. Steve came from MI and has several years of experience remodeling apartment homes. After viewing some of his work in the local area we decided to hire him for the aforementioned work. Steve was very meticulous with his bid. He explained exactly what would be done and how long it would take. He also gave us the option of buying the materials for the job as long as we followed his general list. I really appreciated that because it gave us the opportunity to shop for exactly what we wanted while capitalizing on some sales at the big box, home improvement store. Once work began he consistently asked for feedback and made sure we were satisfied with his work. He finished the work on time, on bid and cleaned up all excess materials afterward. I wouldn't hesitate recommending him to anyone.
Description of Work: General repair and feathering of some ceiling drywall. Priming and painting of 2 bathrooms and 1 living room. Tiling and grouting of a kitchen and entryway with installation of transitions.
