My experience at the Apple Store was nothing but positive. Alex the and quot;Geniusand quot; assigned to me was professional, methodical and spot on when diagnosing my computer problem. His explanations were clear and concise and it was obvious he knew what he was doing rather than guessing and hoping to solve the issue. Very capable troubleshooter.

Initially took our 13 month old Iphone 4s to the West Towne Apple Store in Madison, WI because the phone would randomly reboot. (Sometimes it would reboot while it was rebooting!) The Genius Bar did a firmware and operating system restore in hopes that it would take care of the random reboot problem. We do not have an issue with the West Towne Apple Store with this issue however.
The random reboot problem returned a day later. Had to go out of town for the holidays so we took the phone to the Bayshore Apple Store in Glendale, WI. Explained the situation and showed the Genius Bar personnale the phone and the error codes. The manager was called over to the Genius Bar. To make a very long story short, the manager didn't care the phone barely of warranty. We were told that we would have had to have paid $200 to get a replacement 4s. There was no talk about fixing the existing phone. A $600 phone should last longer than 13 months and the manager readily admitted that, but was unwilling to attempt to keep a long time Apple customer coming back to the store. And we were unwilling to pay $200 for the and quot;privilegeand quot; of owning another 4s.
The upshot is that as our Apple products age and fail, they will be replaced by competitors products. Apple is overpriced to begin with, but could always be counted on to be reliable and if they were buggy, Apple took care of it's customers well. We did not encounter the same level of consideration and customer service this time as we had in the past.

I would tell my friends and family members that I thought all computer people were like Apple computer people. They love what they are doing, they love their product, they really know their computers, and they try their best to talk in English, instead of nerd jargon. They try to let me know exactly what they are doing and what they are trying to help me with, they are pretty good. They really know their product, and they know what they are doing.

$99
I paid $99 for Apple's "One-to-One" service which gives me a year's worth of personalized training at my local store (I use the Bayshore Mall store in Glendale). I had a great experience on my one hour first training class with Chris (my trainer). He took time to understand how an old guy like me uses the computer and what I wanted to learn. He was great at answering all of my questions and was particularly adept at figuring out not only what I use my computer for but how I use it (two finger typer, like to use keyboard shortcuts, etc) and then giving me specific tips on how to use the MacBook more efficiently. $99 may seem like a lot to some people just to learn how to use the computer but after only one session I can tell you it is a great deal!

I needed help finding the type of computer I wanted. I called and tech support helped me out. I purchased it online; it's still coming. Personally, I'm an Apple freak.
