Ralston Exteriors

We have been very pleased with Ralston Exteriors. For our first project, they addressed a corner of the house where an interior leak had developed, by installing kick-out flashing along the adjacent roofline and replacing Tyvek and cedar siding/trim in the affected area. Our most recent project involved replacing a broken window, which in addition did not have adequate flashing because of its size and location near a roofline; the window was replaced with a shorter but wider window to comply with current code, and new cedar siding/trim with proper flashing and underlying Tyvek was installed in the area surrounding the window. Quality of workmanship and attention to detail. The repaired areas are a very close match to the original, both in terms of style and color. The workers that we have met have been thorough as well as courteous. During our second project, when a building inspector needed to be consulted, Ryan (owner) kept us in the loop throughout the process and was very good at explaining the options to us. They also carefully matched the style of the interior wood trim surrounding the window to look like our existing windows. Price for the work. When we solicited bids for each project, their price was usually slightly higher but still competitive with the other bids. We were comfortable using Ralston Exteriors over lower-priced competitors because of the quality of their workmanship and excellent customer service. Follow-up. After work has been completed, Ryan remains responsive when we have called with questions or concerns. When our second project was done, he even took another look at the work done on the first project to ensure it was still holding up (it was!) and did some touch-up caulking.

Men were very hard working and cleaned up after themselves. Easy to work with owner through email over the winter to hash out details. Final product looks so good!

They didn’t bother my tenant. They did the work I envisioned basically and what we talked about and their price was reasonable. They cleaned up well afterwards, so I didn’t find any nails on the ground or anything like that.

Our dealings with Ryan Shaw and Ralston Exteriors were excellent from start to finish. Ryan Shaw was always timely in his communications, responsive through email, and arrived at appointments on time. He assessed the extent of our required repairs and was clear about available options as to how siding and trim would be handled, possible timing of the work, and so on. The quote we received from Ralston Exteriors was somewhat higher than two others we received from other similarly highly rated Angie's List exterior contractors, but we decided to go with Ralston because Ryan Shaw was so professional and clear in all our dealings prior to selecting a contractor. When the day for the work arrived, Ryan and his team were on time, fully prepared with color-primed boards, and got the job done with excellent results. We won't hesitate to contact them again should we need similar work in the future.

Ryan Shaw was always professional and responsive and answered questions promptly. The siders arrived promptly and reliably every morning and worked very hard in hot weather all through the day. Siders were friendly and professional. Siding on the house looks beautiful. Work was finished in the amount of time expected.

After heavy rains last spring leading to several leaks we enlisted Ralston Exteriors to help. Ryan was very easy to speak to, very knowledgeable of options, and willing to look into alternative solutions when we had some specific ideas about style or price. We ended up replacing all of our siding (although Ryan was will to replace only the rotting sections if budget was a concern), rebuilding a flat roof deck that had extreme water buildup and mold growth, replaced a sliding glass door (custom size), and finally replaced and added additional gutters. Due to the unusual nature/architecture of our house and our budget, we were limited in siding options. Ryan explained the reasons and offered solutions that kept with the feel of the house. His team worked in very cold weather to make sure the project was completed before spring. They also went the extra mile to trim and flash the right way even though the original siding was not. The team even dug down into the ground around the areas we had leaks to extend the flashing lower. In addition to siding, we replaced a sliding door and flat roof deck. His deck team did a great job rebuilding the deck to ensure water drained and greatly improved the aesthetic of the decking by identifying a much more pleasing way to put the new trex decking together. When we were concerned about the price of a custom sliding door, Ryan found an alternative that better fit our budget and we were also able to customize the color by painting it ourselves. When some rotten boards and trim were found, Ryan made sure to check in with us to see how we wanted to address it and also made sure we were ok with any extra costs. At one point, he researched a specific deck railing system we were interested in. Due to the extra cost, we decided to forgo this option but we never felt pressured to spend extra money. Ryan was always sensitive to the budget but consistently balanced this with quality materials. Finally, we had all new gutters installed. As the house did not have full gutters, Ryan made sure we were comfortable with the aesthetics of the new gutters and ensured they blended in and did not affect the architecture. Even before the project was determined to be this big, Ryan was willing to work with us. We would use his team again or recommend it to anyone for an exterior project, big or small.

I wrote an extensive review on them which is good. They were excellent. I like the fact that Ryan was on site making sure that everything was done correctly. They were very responsive, very thorough. In fact, they will be doing some more work for me this summer.

I was in the process of selling my house and decided to get the siding done. I contacted multiple top-rated contractors off of Angie's List. Ryan Ralston (owner) was the first to contact me back, and always gave me prompt, courteous and professional service. His bid was extremely competitive, and he is well known in the contractor community as being good at his job and taking care of his customers. I got an offer on my house before I got the siding done and the buyer requested that I do the roof instead of the siding, so unfortunately I never got to work with Ryan outside of the planning stages, but I would definitely work with again.

Absolutely excellent work. High quality. Fixed problems with siding installed incorrectly by another contractor. Raised and repaired downspout extensions. Disposed of satellite dish and caulked holes left from installation. Repaired aluminum soffit at front corner of house. Gave excellent suggestions regarding how work could be done. Very professional. Will be hiring back for future work again later this fall.

I had 3 quotes for the work I wanted done. I chose Ralston Exteriors (president Ryan Shaw) who did an outstanding job. Ryan is very professional, punctual, trust worthy, knowledgeable, and has excellent crews doing the work. Ryan gave me an initial quote and advice for the work I wanted done. After Ryan's advice I made several changes and the final price I paid was exactly as agreed to. Ryan did more than I expected to make sure I was satisfied with the results. The job was completed weeks before my requested completion date. Ryan stopped by every day to check on the work. All my phone calls and emails were answered within the current or following work day. Several weeks after the work was completed I noticed one small concern, I emailed Ryan in the morning and he came out that afternoon to resolve my concern. Ryan and his crews strive to do an excellent job and make the customer satisfied. I would recommend Ralston Exteriors to anyone who wants excellent work, a fair price and a contractor who promptly responds to phone calls, emails and concerns.

Ryan and his crew were very accommodating of our schedule. We had some landscaping done prior to building the deck and our landscaper fell behind due to weather. Ryan worked with the landscaper to coordinate the placement of footing etc. for the deck. A different crew than did the siding job, Brad and Steve were here early everyday, professional and the site was always in good condition when they left for the day. The original shingles were torn off and new flashing and underlayments were put down, along with new shingles in two days. They were very conscious of weather conditions when scheduling this working a long day to beat the rain. The gutters were completed about a week later and done in about half a day. We also had Gutter Glove (leaf protection) installed on some of the gutters. The deck was actually two individual decks one above the other. We chose to use Trex composite decking and it looks great ! The workmanship is wonderful. Ryan was always available to answer any questions and was back within a couple days to address 3 minor issues (all of which were quickly remedied). Work was done on schedule and to budget.

I was extremely pleased with the quality of work completed as well as the professionalism of Ryan Shaw and his crew. The attentiveness to detail, commitment to excellence, and practical knowledge combined with experience and skill are second to none. I was also very impressed with the care taken to leave the yard untouched and clean. Ryan truly knows how to run a business. He provided references, examples of his work, and an accurate estimate. When the start date was delayed, he went out of his way to update me by both phone and e-mail. He was most accommodating in answering questions and providing helpful information on materials. His crew showed up on time and completed the job in a timely manner. I received value for my investment and came away feeling that Ralson Exteriors and its owner, Ryan Shaw, were highly committed to customer satisfaction.

Ryan quickly returned my call, made a house call, and had a quote to us within a few days. He kept us informed as to when the work would be done. On that day, he and his crew were very professional, thorough, and efficient. Quality of the work is excellent. We would definitely call on Ryan again should the need arise. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

My experience with them was fine. It took awhile to get their quote. He told me it would be two to three weeks, and when it was almost three weeks, I called and asked if I was going to get it soon. He did give it to me a little bit after he said he would. The quote seemed fair, but we elected not to do the work at that time. The quote for the tear-off seemed reasonable, but we decided to do some of it ourselves instead. The quote for the replacement of the porch seemed high, but I am not sure. I have not got any other quotes yet. The guy, who came here, is the owner I think. He came out fairly quickly, was professional, and answered questions. I was pleased with that.

They quoted the job prior to starting. I like their work; they are very thorough and always on time. The main person, Ryan Shaw, does not do the work. He is the contractor, but stops by just about every day to check on things.

It went well. Brian Shaw, the president, came and explained my options for repairing or replacing the old gutter system. He got back to me within a few days with a bid that included prices for each option. We decided to go with Ralston and they came and did an good job. I would choose Ralston again for other work, if needed. They do good work and offer fair prices. They seem to have good integrity and quality overall.

We discovered water damage related to an attached deck in the late fall. Repairing the damage required cutting away a portion of the deck from the house and removing much of the siding. Subsequent to completing the repairs we selected Ralston Exteriors to remove and dispose of the remainder of the deck and to reside the entire house including installing a Tyvek wrap and taping around windows, seams, and flashings. They also attached and sealed around the ledger boards for the replacement deck. We choose Ryan and his company after receiving a number of bids and visiting some reference sites. The decision was based on price along with perceived quality and customer satisfaction. We are very pleased with the decision. Ryan Shaw was very good to work with providing assistance with selecting the siding and visiting the job site frequently. It was winter by the time we actually got started and the weather along with a somewhat challenging country driveway made for some difficult working conditions Jerry and Scott worked through the difficulties and even put in some weekend work to make up for days lost due to storms. The job site was keep well maintained, everyone was on site when they said they would be and the job was completed on time and budget. We are very happy with quality of the work and would engage Ryan and Ralston Exteriors again.

The project went very well. When Ralston Exteriors did our siding project, we knew we wanted them to do our deck as well. The delay was due to product availability. Trex had come up with a new color option, Rope Swing, which contrasted well with our siding. However, Trex was not sure if they would create the whole product line in that color. Ryan checked back repeatedly with Trex, to see if the material needed for our renovation would be available. Unfortunately, Trex decided not to create the entire line (enveloping sleeves for deck posts and railing pieces). But, one of the things I like most about Ryan is that he is a problem solver. We had considered a two tone deck and other possible product lines, but they all had drawbacks. But in the interim time checking back with Trex while they made their decision about their product, Ryan came up with a new solution. Since the SmartSide line could be painted any color, they used the SmartSide materials, matched to the Rope Swing color, to build the railings, enclose the rail posts, and build the foundation for the bench. The end result is a beautiful deck which is essentially maintenance free.

Everything went very well. Ryan met with us to discuss the services we wanted. He recommended that we check job sites at various stages of completion to see the product over time. When we signed to give them the contract for the job, he worked with us at every stage, keeping us informed throughout. When we were discussing how the siding would be put around an existing deck, we mentioned that we might in the future plan to replace the existing deck, with a new deck made with composite wood. Ryan knew his business so well that he was able to tell us that the composite wood deck product would be a different thickness than the existing deck, so plans were made to remove pieces of the existing deck, so the siding would be placed to the proper level. Even though we didn't have the deck done for another 6 months, replacement boards were installed temporarily for safety measures. When a painter he hired to paint window trim inadvertently painted the sealant, Ryan had his main crew come to work through the difficulties, and make sure the windows would open as they should. In most work situations, one will encounter problems. Ryan has good attention to detail, and he makes sure that the job is done correctly. Ralston Exteriors has excellent workmanship, and they are very professional in all regards. Ryan knows his business, and is very upfront about everything. He is patient and thorough, and he always checks back to be sure everything is done to the customer's satisfaction. His crew is highly skilled, and easy to work with. We highly recommend them.

Ryan and his employees do a great job. I would recommend them to anyone looking for quality work. It is a prime example of you get what you pay for.
