Wandsheider Landscaping did a very good job installing a
drainage system, a permeable brick drive, and clearing and grading and sodding the
yard.  Bill Wandsheider is very
knowledgably and active in local building association leadership.  He was helpful in the redesign of the project
to adjust to the mess up by the builder including suggesting planting schemes.

Wandsnider didn't give us the materials we were originally promised, their workmanship was shoddy, and when we complained, they actually told us our expectations were "too high." We were told they would use polymeric sand in the joints of our brick-paver patio that would "harden to the consistency of cement." But without informing us, they substituted a different type of sand that was constantly moist in most places (we have a lot of shade). As a result, we had large amounts of grass, weeds, anthills, and moss between the bricks. When we complained, they agreed to powerwash the patio to get rid of the old sand and replace it with the sand we were originally promised. But they did a TERRIBLE job on the repair--they chipped bricks with the powerwasher, didn't re-fill some of the joints, and applied the new sand while the patio was still wet, so we now have a permanent coating of polymeric sand on the surface of the bricks (see photos). It looks horrible and we are very unhappy.
Response from WANDSNIDER LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTS
"After sending crews back 8 times over a period of 3-13 months after project completion when is a determination made that nothing can be done to please this client? This is a difficult decision for a 27 year old company with a culture developed around pleasing demanding clients. When this cannot be achieved it takes a toll on the people in the company as well as knowing a disgruntled individual will tell 7 times as many people that they are unhappy as they will tell if they are happy. From a clients perspective, educate yourself about the limits and complexities of design and materials. A good place to start can be to review guarantees as they give clues as to where problems arise. From the service provider's perspective, try and be proactive and educate your client, point out potential problem areas or where variances can occur. Reviewing expectations can also help. Consider why it is important to have a client sign off on natural materials which can have considerable variance. Think of other areas where that may apply. Products that have inconsistencies are potentially problematic and are further impacted by weather and client care. Your client's life experiences impact their understanding and perceptions as well. Among individuals quality is a moving target and what 99%% of your clients may be trilled with, another one may be ready to shoot you. William Wandsnider - President"

The were prompt in their appointments and had a very good knowledge of landscaping options. They provide a very detail plan and followed through with the execution of the plan. Small problems with growth were quickly taken care of.
