Tom & his wife, Jessica came today (Father's Day) and I was so glad that they came so quickly. They did a great job in cleaning my gutters & downspouts, which were a mess and looked great when they finished. I would give both Tom & Jessica 5 stars each! I will definitely be seeing them again when they plan to power wash my house and also power wash and stain my deck. I'm so pleased that I found them! Thank you to MGL Construction & HomeAdvisor.

First of all, I was wanting to get estimates from a few different sources. The afternoon after requesting estimates from HomeAdvisor, after being gone all day and not seeing their email or phone message, they just showed up at my door and were very insistent that I hire them right now as they had time. This was about 3:45 pm. Told them I wanted estimates and they gave me one verbally that I thought was way too high and told them so. Again, I reiterated that I wanted estimates. Very pushy, hard to understand. Asked what I wanted and showed them the two high sides of the house and another peak that I am unable to get to and wanted the undersides of all gutters cleaned. This is a ranch home but one side high because of chimney. Pushed and I decided to get it done at the lowered price. I then specifically showed them plantings that needed to be protected and they were damaged, I presume with ladder or them stepping on them. I went out to check on progress and saw that they had not done peak in front of house and only washed down to the top of the windows on south side including not washing the shutters when we had agreed on them washing down to bottom of windows so they would have to deal with some bushes. I asked that they go back and wash the peak in the front and Tom said it would cost $20 more and I said no as it was agreed they would do that and that they had not done down as far on south side. Mind you, they did not wash the east and west side of the house at all, just the gutters. I had gotten an estimate last fall from someone who was willing to wash the two high side of house for $125 so figured the whole house would be double that. They use your hoses and water and are making about $250/hr. When I wrote out check using the business card I was given, they said it was wrong and had to change the name of the company on it. Sorry, but I will not use these people again. When I ask for estimates on Home Advisor, I did NOT expect that they would just show up at your house uninvited. Since that, I checked reviews and saw that another person had a language barrier problem and that you would need to get in writing but I surely felt that was not going to happen even if I had asked. Several times when job nearly done and after, he complained that this was a very hard job. This is a single story ranch so I guess I would not even consider them for a two story house. By the way, the name change they wanted on the check was to change the word handyman to construction. I would not consider anything they do to be considered construction. So why are all the reviews 5 stars? I cannot believe I was the only one to experience this pushiness and disregard for plantings that I specifically showed her to protect which should not have been a problem.

There is a serious language problem. They did not do all that they claimed. Parts of the house trim high up were not painted.

Finished ahead of schedule. Good job. Verbal communication somewhat difficult so agreement in writing is recommended.
