Classic Chimneys

Took awhile to hear back from Jake but when he came out he and his crew gave a good estimate. Said they would get work done in a couple weeks but it was almost a month. BUT they came on date after I questioned when they were coming. Said chimney mortar should last for 50 years. Felt comfortable working with him.

Bought a clean and inspect coupon online for $159. They came out and did the job. Said everything looked good. I suppose it went well, but it was hard to tell. They were in and out pretty fast. No complaints. I must just not have had a very dirty chimney.

It went really well. It was definitely worth while.

I give them an F because they did not respond. If you are going to have a deal on Angie’s List where you are supposed to contact customer you should respond.

The cleaning went very well. Done quickly. No mess and gave me answers to other questions as well.

Jake and his assistant arrived within the time that he had estimated. He was thoughtful/responsible enough to contact me the Friday prior because he had forgotten if we had scheduled for Friday or the following Monday. I was very appreciative of that because I have had too many experiences where a contractor shows up incredibly late without calling or not show up at all. Jake and his assistant went about their business and upon completion of the cleaning I was given a full report of the condition of my chimney. The fireplace area in the living room was clean and free of dirt from the cleaning. Jake also offered to put me on a call list and contact me in future years and check my chimney when he is in the area.

The guy was on time, friendly, efficient and straightforward. I had the immediate impression that he was honest and knowledgeable. I would recommend him to anyone. Sue L

Owner Jake Kleinsmith and two others worked very hard for three long days, Thurs Fri & Mon in Dec 2012. They removed the old stone, hauled new stone to the roof, framed and poured a proper new cement cap . They had the chimney partially rebuilt by Friday evening and covered it with a tarp. The chimney was completed by Monday evening. It looks good. The situation that played out was most unusual. Unfortunately big wind and heavy rain began earlly Saturday and continued all day and into the evening. The tarp came loose and rain came down the chimney ruining the ceiling of the lower level great room and dampened a small area near the chimney of the main level living room. The wet ceiling on the lower level was noticed Saturday evening and photogrraphed, Jake was called as was Certi-Dry a restoration company both of whom arrived Sunday morning. Jake apologized repeatedly and was just sick about the mishap. Jake notified his business insurance company. Inspections ensued, industrial size fans and dehumidifiers were employed, ceiling drywall and insulation was removed and dried. Later the drywall was replaced, mudded and eventually painted. Three different sub-contractors attempted to restore the ceiling swirl pattern. It was acceptable in the end. As soon as I phoned him In May 2014 Jake returned to recaulk the area where the base of the chimney meets the flashing and roof. The separation was noted when a Focus on Energy inspection was done and the house was prepped for additional insulation, new can lights, and bathroom fans,

They cleaned the firebox, glass doors, flue and chimney from inside and inspected the cap on the chimney and cleaned from the top down. No soot or mess on the carpet or hearth. They showed up on time and it didn't take very long.

The service went very well. The technician was very helpful since we are new home owners. He also did a great job and did exactly what the deal stated. Scheduling was very easy with this company.

They said everything looked okay. Overall, it was fine.

They did a good job. The guy that came told me they would send a quote for further work and I never received the quote for that work. They did the work within the window of time and they explained everything very well. They did an excellent job of cleaning up after themselves.

Fine! It seems it kind of went as I had expected so I'm kind of neutral on that. It was positive and I guess they were fast.

We had an excellent experience with Classic Chimney. They are skilled at their trade, honest and fair in pricing, get the job done quickly. We had a situation with a rental property with a boiler vented through a 150 year old brick chimney with no liner. The chimney is disintegrating to the point that the boiler wasn't working properly. We had several people out to try to figure out what the problem was and didn't get any where until we called Classic Chimney. They immediately knew what the problem was and how to fix it. They ordered the parts and had the job done within a few days. We will have them back in the spring to address the masonry work. we also had them come and sweep our chimneys for our wood burning stove. Highly recommended.

While we understood that Mr. Kleinsmith does not sell or install gas fireplace inserts, he made it clear that he could provide a source, brochures, and recommendations. He was to bring those with him when he came by to do an inspection and take some measurements. He failed to ever follow-up..

Communicating via the Angie's List message system is a little annoying - it creates for time delays. Would rather be contacted directly via email or phone, but I'm guessing that's not the way Angie's List works. Classic Chimneys arrived promptly, did a great job quickly and had a great price. He said he'd sell me a new door for our fireplace and quoted a reasonable price, and then told me where I could buy one myself and install it myself for even less. When I get around to that chore, I'll definitely be calling him instead of doing it myself! Very pleased with Classic Chimneys!

Arrived on time as scheduled, performed inspection/cleaning, left no dust or debris.

They were good. They came in and did what I wanted them to do. They were prompt and they didn't leave a mess.

Went well. Priced well. Good customer service.

Scheduled appointment in early January. I am a very busy person so it was hard for me to create the time for this appointment. He did not show up for appointment and did not call. I called several times and did not receive a call back. I will never do business with this person again and I will never recommend this person to friend or family member.
