I wasn't there, but my husband said the gentleman who came was punctual, and professional. He said our chimney had obviously been recently cleaned and didn't need to be cleaned. He explained some possible options we might want to consider at a later date if we wanted the fireplace to heat the house, but didn't push anything on us. Since the chimney didn't require cleaning, he spent some time repairing a small crack at the back. My husband was very satisfied.
Description of Work: We just purchased a new home and wanted to ensure the chimney was clean before we used it. We weren't sure when it was last cleaned so I took advantage of the $79 cleaning and inspection.

The two sweeps were prompt, took care of the sweeping, cleaned up after themselves. They were friendly and helpful. In the past the chimney sweep had cleaned the glass of the fireplace as part of the clean-up service and this company didn't, but it is a minor concern.

They were timely and very nice. Seemed to do a thorough job. Went over all my fireplace and chimney aspects (all was in great condition). Took the time after the sweep and inspection to go over how to properly take care of and use the fireplace. I would use them again.

Everything went very well. They did a complete inspection. They were neat and clean. They didn't get any soot into the house, which was important because we have white carpeting. They were prompt and on time.

They arrived on time, were very clean, and offered us helpful tips on maintaining our fireplaces. Jake also noticed some damage that could be dangerous, he explained the issue clearly and why it posed a danger, then quickly wrote up a quote to have it fixed. The price is fair, so we're having them come back to do the repairs.

These guys were in quite a hurry when they arrived. 45 minutes to sweep inspect and give me an estimate on a new chimney cap. They left me an estimate and a quickly hand written report that said "clean, ready to use" Well we thought nothing of it till we had our first burn. They had closed our flu without telling us and needless to say our house filled with smoke and 9-1-1 was called. We installed glass doors to keep the draft from coming down the chimney and to avoid the sitaution that happened thusleaving the flu open at all times. When we first called this owner he was rude and a smart a** to my wife. Later he apologized along with his work partner. When changes are made to our existing chimney/fireplace I expect a verbal or written note telling me. $3600 of restration later we now have a clean house again.

He showed up and worked really good. He put a new chimney cap on my chimney and was supposed to fix the flashing which he did not. He charged me for two chimney cages and he only put one up. When he was done he put all the debris inside my chimney, like the old bricks and stuff. I asked him was he going to fix it and when he opened it he realized the debris was still in there and said that he would be back next week. When he was here he said he was going to do something for my neighbors and we never heard back from him and during this time I couldn't use my chimney because it's full of debris. I asked my neighbors if he was working for them and they said they were still waiting for him and by this time it's been over a month since we heard from him. I never could get him to come back here and finally he said that he could come on Memorial Day weekend. All he did when he came was bring in a comforter and open the flue and threw the garbage on there and left. He didn't light my fireplace from them running the water and doing the concrete. Its all stained from the ash and it doesn't look nice. He was just in and out and not friendly like he was when they got the job. The day he did the work he said, "Well now you can use your chimney," and I couldn't because it was full of garbage and he charged me for extra things he didn't do. He wanted to get paid immediately and before he came back to empty that garbage out of my chimney. I felt that he knew he was ripping me off because I'm new in this area and that he wasn't professional or honest. I wouldn't use his services again.

The chimney on our 1927 house needed tuck pointing from the roof up. I had 4 companies quote. Jake was quick to respond to the request for quote via email. Quick to respond to questions. His pricing was the lowest of 4 bids. I was under a tight time constraint and he was willing and able to adjust his schedule to start the project the next day. He arrived on time and finished on time. I met with him over the lunch hour and he described the repairs that were necessary and provided a timeline for completion. He cleaned-up when he was finished. I was pleased with the results.
Description of Work: Tuck pointed brick chimney from roofline up. Poured new cement cap. Did not include complete re-build as others had quoted at a much higher cost.

They showed up early (which was fine by us) and got to work right away. They were funny and very helpful, showing us everything they found and explaining various procedures for good fireplace care (we have never had a fireplace before). They made sure we understood everything that they did and when they found a few oddities in our fireplace, explained exactly why they were odd and how to adapt accordingly. I would highly recommend Classic Chimney because they were professional, kind, and gave good explanations. We were even able to kid around with them which I always enjoy :-)

Working with Classic Chimney was a great experience. Jake came and examined our chimney. He explained in layman's terms what was wrong with it and why it was in such disrepair. I hired him because he was so knowledgeable, passionate, and trustworthy. They completed the whole project in a few hours. They even took extra precautions and protected the new chimney from the winter weather while it properly cured. It speaks volumes that he stands behind his work and offers a warranty.
Description of Work: Our existing chimney needed total repair. Jake removed our existing brick, then rebuilt the chimney with matching brick & mortar, added a new crown, and fixed the flashing.

Work was performed as promised, when promised, although it required many steps. Unusual design features of the house were addressed. Shoddy flashing was replaced. Restored chimney and fireplace looks and works great.
Description of Work: Major repairs on a poorly maintained masonry chimney and improperly vented boiler. Tuckpointed, installed new counterflashing, built new concrete cap, rerouted malpositioned boiler vent, installed new flue liner, and swept. Explained each step. New mortar matches 50-year-old mortar.

I was unable to be there at our scheduled time for the chimney sweep and inspection. I asked my father to meet with them for me. My father said Jake was very professional and he had a great attitude. He protected the carpet and tile. When I came home I was pleased to find how clean our family room was after his service was completed. We plan to have Classic Chimenys clean and inspect our chimney every year. Thanks for the great work at such a good price!

They were super helpful and great to work with. They were able to get a new cap for our chimney at a reduced price because it was no longer manufactured. They even charged less than the original estimate because it was less work than they originally thought it would be! It was also nice to be able to hire one company to repair the chimney and cut back the tree. I will be calling them again for our regular chimney maintenance and would recommend them to friends.

These guys were incredible. They were very friendly, prompt and helpful. While working here, they helped me out with couple extra things that needed to be done on the roof which I could not do. I had been told by couple other people that I needed a new thermocouple in one gas fireplace and requested that they add that to the list when they were here giving an estimate. Jake told me, however, that I did not need a new one. He was able to show me the proper way to light the pilot without difficulty --- thus saving me $$$. It would have been easy for him to do the work and charge me as I had been told that was needed, but he was honest and fair! I will call on them whenever I need work on fireplaces or chimney. It is nice to know folks who are friendly, fair, and honest as well as good at what they do!

My house is over 100 years old and I don't think anything was ever done to the chimney. Several bricks had broken and fallen off of it, the cap was gone, and it leaked, among other things. The people from Classic Chimneys did an excellent job repairing the chimney. They looked at it and gave me an estimate promptly after I originally called, and then came to work, promptly, a few days later. I was quite pleased they could do the work right away, and that the price they charged was fair (and affordable for me). Unfortunately I can't remember the man's name, but the one I talked to and who did most of the work was very pleasant and friendly and practical and competent. I stated what work I needed done and he did exactly that, and more. Besides repairing the brickwork and replacing flashing and putting a new cover on the chimney, he also removed old bird's nests from the chimney. He also told me how I could repair some leaks inside my house myself, but then came in and did the work himself and did not charge extra. He said something about his conscience would bother him if he didn't finish the job. Everything was cleaned up, and when they left, the only thing you would notice was that there was finally an intact chimney on my house. I would definitely recommend Classic Chimneys to anyone who needed chimney repair, and would hire them again if I needed to, only I doubt I will need to since the chimney is in working order now and seems like it will be for years to come. They also included a 5 year warranty on the cap and cement work.

Jake and his mason arrived when they said they would and performed the work in the time frame he said they would. They even went the extra mile to help me clean up a water leak from one of the hose bibs they had been using (they did not cause the leak, but stayed at least an extra hour to help me with the clean up). I am very pleased with the work they did.

The top section of my chimney was visibly deteriorating, and some bricks lower down were coming loose. When I last tried to light a fire, water (snow-melt) dripped down heavily enough to put it out. A roof inspection in the fall confirmed that the cap was cracked too. I called Jake at Classic Chimneys, along with two other companies, and received 2 quotes in all. (The scope of the work was different on the two quotes but they were comparable in price.) I went with Jake because of the good recommendations here. He scheduled the work for the following week and completed it promptly, in a few days. No complications. The brick matches my older 40-year-old quite well. The chimney and the new pipe and flues look very solid. He had to rebuild the top 27 courses of bricks and he also cut out and replaced a number of the lower bricks. He is coming back (I hope) to do a smaller job that we noticed during his visit - replacing the top few courses of bricks in the half-wall on my front patio.

I noticed in my kitchen that there was some bubbling paint, and suspected it was chimney-related (for the furnace; I have no fireplace). Jake came by and took a look and explained that the high-efficiency furnace put in by the previous owners was causing condensation inside the chimney. He recommended inserting a chimney liner, as well as some changes to the pipes leading out of the furnace as the size wasn't right. I gave an A for price and quality, although only time will tell on quality, and I did not comparison shop on the liner prices. He was able to schedule fairly soon (within two weeks) and worked with me to get the job done without interfering too much in my work schedule. He was polite and prompt. I hope to not have any other chimney concerns, but if I did I would feel comfortable hiring Jake again.

We couldn't be happier with the work that Jake did for us. We have been burning fires each night since they finished - everything is working great!!!
Description of Work: Jake replaced four broken flue tiles in two of our chimney flues. In addition, he installed a stainless steel liner for our hot water heater. He and his partner took great care not to inconvenience us, and were very careful to clean up as they did work inside and outside. I never got the impression that he was 'trying to upsell' us on any repair or services.
