Classic Chimneys

We were not able to get off work the day they came to rebuild the chimney. Because all the work was done outdoors, we didn't really need to be there so they were able to do the work and had it done by the time we got home. Everything was complete, the chimney looked much better than the original, and everything was cleaned up. At first we didn't even realize they had been there! They did an excellent job. They also came in at half the price of a competitor who is listed, because they didn't make up additional work that needed to be done. I appreciate their honesty.

Jake with Classic Chimneys was professional and prompt. He explained the process and was very neat and clean in the job process. I would definitely use his service again. One minor irritation, Angie's List sent out a notice of a deal the day before the service was scheduled at a price of $99.00 for the same service I had been billed $159.00.

Classic Chimney did a good job. They came over and installed a chimney cap and cleaned out some animal debris from our chimney as well. They were not able to show up the first date we had scheduled due to a higher workload, but they were there four days later performing the service. The price was very reasonable and I would definitely use this company in the future.

Classic Chimneys was great! We got the big deal offer, and they did an excellent job of service on the two chimneys in our house. In addition to cleaning the chimneys, they showed us how to operate both fireplaces and gave us tips on how to save energy. As new homeowners I felt we got more than the value of the service from their advice. I would definitely call them again.

Every thing went like clockwork. Very efficient and what amazed me was that they cleaned up as they went. Took down the old chimney one day and had all the old bricks off to the recycle facility immediately. Came back the next day and put up the new chimney which is perfect! We were a bit worried as the chimney that fell apart was installed only 11 years ago and the mason who did that job (not Classic Chimneys ) had no explanation for why their work completely fell apart. Nor would he offer us a discount to rebuild, or any guarantee/warrantee. We are so glad to know the grades and reviews on Angie's list landed us with Classic Chimneys. It was great and we are happy to be another satisfied customer.

We had previously received an estimate from Jake to replace our chimney cap (which was noticed during a chimney cleaning). We called to schedule the replacement and were scheduled for July 26 in the afternoon. We weren't given a specific time, as we didn't need to be home for the work, and left for vacation that night. When we got returned from the vacation, I looked outside to see whether the cap had been replaced. Jake hadn't called to confirm completion of the work, or to explain the work that was done, but I had expected it to be completed. When I looked, I noticed that our old cap (which had a lot of rust, so it was noticeable) was still there. I called and left a message to confirm that the work had not been completed, and asked Jake to return my call if I was wrong. Three days later, I have not yet had a response and will be looking elsewhere for a quote and future work.

Jake honored the coupon through Angie's for a cleaning for $159.00 and that took place on June 27, 2013. He had done chimney sweeping for me two years ago, and I was satisfied with his work then. Both times he left my living room -- where the fireplace is located -- in spic-and-span shape. During the previous cleaning appointment, he had noticed some cracks in the chimney crown (he got on the roof to inspect the chimney), and stated it was not an emergency repair, and that I could put it off until the next time around. This time around when he came (June 27), I asked for the repair. In addition, my damper is very difficult to handle. He suggested a new damper be installed -- making the flue very, very easy to open and close he said, and the chimney much more efficient. We scheduled July 22 for this to be done. This morning Jake and his partner came and did the chimney crown crack sealing. Jake even fixed a bent gutter while he was up there. I needed a part from my DISH satellite removed (not a part of the deal!), and he did this without blinking an eye. When he realized he had brought the wrong damper, Jake offered to go to the west side to get it and install it today yet, or come back first thing in the morning (installing would take only 15 minutes). Jake left it entirely up to me, giving me the feeling that my wishes took precedence over his schedule. Jake is a gentleman and a good business man. When I agreed to get the damper work done, he guaranteed me a discount for my next cleaning.

It went very well. There were some weather related delays in the work, but clearly these are not the contractor's fault. We knew when we bought this house that is had some significant hazards in the fireplace and chimney and we were happy to have a functioning fireplace for under $1000

My experience with Classic Chimneys turned out fine. They just finished working on our chimney last week. Classic Chimneys replaced the collar and the cap. They poured a cap over the whole chimney, a concrete cap. There had been a steel cap up there that had begun to corrode so they removed that and poured a concrete one, this concrete cap should last for like thirty years. He was just real reliable and a good communicator and he let us know everything he was doing. He did everything he said he would do, just a couple of things that I would do differently but it wasn't anything related to him.

They did very well. I don't have any complaints on them. They did a fine job. I am happy with the work that they did.

A little late showing up but an excellent job overall.

The tuck pointing was done beautifully (I have actually gotten compliments!). I think that the price was fair (I do not know the standard range for tuck pointing that size wall) but it was worth it because of how well the job was done. I also have a 5 year warranty on the work done.

Classic Chimneys were very good. They stood behind their work, so when we had more trouble with leaking, they came back and fixed it, at no charge to us.

Contacted several providers based on AL ratings. Two providers supplied quotes, including Classic Chimneys. This seemed like a fairly simple job and C-C price was little lower than other (but in line). Provider showed up on time, completed the work in a professional fashion (in a short time), cleaned up work area. Replacement chimney cap looks great. Whole transaction went well. I would use this provider again and would recommend to my neighbors.

Jake replied to my request for an estimate (submitted through Angie's List) and we scheduled a time when he could come look at the chimney, which was in poor condition. He showed up as scheduled, gave me a rough cost estimate on the spot and provided a written estimate via email the next day. After receiving an estimate from another contractor at a much higher price, I scheduled the work with Jake. Jake and his crew arrived as scheduled and took down the old chimney. They covered the roof in that area with tarps to protected it and collect the debris. After the tear down they covered the area with tarps and came back the next day to build the new chimney. They were able to match the brick reasonably well, especially considering the house was built more than thirty years ago, and the new chimney looks great. It also solved our problem of water coming into the house during rainstorms, which was our main motivator for having the chimney replaced. I rated the price as an A even though it was more expensive than I imagined it would be, but their price was very competitive compared to other quotes I received ($700 less). All work was completed exactly as specified and at the price quoted. I did not have to pay anything until the work was complete.

Went great. Jake was very professional, did a quick and thorough job on cleaning. Nice touches like laying down a rug to catch any debris that fell out. Didn't feel like he was trying to upsell me on services, repairs, or improvements that I didn't need or want. He also installed a chimney cap for us. Had to special order because we have a weird size chimney. Was able to come back and install it without requiring us to be home a second time.
