A phone call was made to this company to request their services to remodel two bathrooms in my duplex. I never heard back from them. I would not feel comfortable doing business with a company who is not responsive to a customer.

We have no record of being contacted by this member. The first we have heard of this is from this report. We are in the this business to work make customers and would never deliberately not call anybody back. We are not saying that you are wrong, it is possible that if you called and left a message it was lost due to IT errors. We apologize for any inconvenience. I am curious, it sounds as if you are saying that you called and left 1 message and were so affected by this that you decided to post this bad report? I would be happy to speak with you further on this matter. You can reach me direct at 414-313-8480

I was so excited after my first call to Sage -- the person I reached was informative and seemed eager to come look at our bathroom and quote the project. He said that someone from his office would call. However, it took nearly a month to actually speak with their scheduler to set an appointment. She apologized for not returning my calls, saying that she was on vacation. 30 minutes before the appointment, I got a call saying that they would need to cancel, but that someone would call to reschedule. It has now been more than a week, and nobody has called to reschedule. I'm disappointed and not eager to call them back since I don't want to hire a firm with this kind of track record. UPDATE: After the false-starts with scheduling an appointment, I did have Sage bid on our project. They were thorough and very informative and I liked the photos of their work. While I chose another contractor, I have no reason to believe that Sage would have done anything less than a professional job.
Description of Work: I have tried for over a month to get Sage to bid on our master bath remodel. It's a tiny bathroom, but they reassured me that they were interested in the project. UPDATE: I did have Sage bid on the project. They were thorough and seemed knowledgeable and interested. I chose another contractor, but have no reason to believe that Sage would not have done a good job.

I am sorry for your displeasure. During our first discussion a month ago you had told me that your shower was leaking and you hadn't planned on remodeling your bathroom, but we had a good talk and we ended the phone call with the understanding that you were going to try to caulk it. Apparently that didn't work and you called a couple weeks later to schedule an appointment. Our appointment was set for Tuesday 9/13 at 8:00 am, and I was ill and called about 30 minutes before the scheduled time to let you know I couldn't make it. I also said someone would call you within a week to reschedule. It has been 3 days. We have been courteous and professional to this point. I don't understand why you are so unhappy, but I would still be glad to give you an estimate. Feel free to call me at 414-313-8480 weekdays between 8:00 am & 6:00 pm. Sincerely, James Sage

It went very well. They were very prompt when we first contacted them and they came out and got an estimate to us quickly. They were able to point out several things that they thought should be done that nobody else that we got estimate from commented on. They wee more thorough. Any of the last minute change orders or issues were all handled quickly and straightforward. There were no surprises. We would absolutely use them again.
Description of Work: We used Sage Home Services for a complete bathroom remodel. They took the walls down to the studs and rebuilt them. They tore out the floor and put in new tile on the floors and walls. They replaced all the fixtures, including tub, toilet and vanity.

We did not use this company, but will contact for future projects, as well as recommend Sage others.
Description of Work: We got an estimate for remodeling our kitchen. James was very professional to work with on the estimate . He came out once to go over everything we wanted, then again to go over the estimate in person with us in case we had any questions. His estimate came in a little higher than the others we talked to and we did end up going with another company. We would definitely recommend his services to others, we will contact him for future projects

Jim was very professional when he came to our house for the estimate. He really listened to us and what our goals were for the project, he had great suggestions to make the finished look of the project better, and he was within our budget. Due to the City of Milwaukee, we expierenced delay's intially obtaining the permit and the inspector brought up structural conerns that needed to be addressed. That did set us back over a month on getting started. However, during that time Jim did a very good job on keeping us informed on the progress with the city/inspector. In order to correct the structure/load bearing issues we did have to spend more than the original estimate, but Jim was very understanding and mindful of our budget and clarified things with the inspector before we began any of the construction (also part of the before mentioned delay, but we preferred this because he respected our budget instead of move ahead, starting construction, just to have delays or additional costs during construction.) That being said, he started work on Oct. 12 and everything was done Nov. 29. Once the project was started it went very quickly! Jim kept us informed on which days that he or a subcontractor would be there. My husband and I had off of work during demo, and they were even mindful to close the door to the upstairs to minimize the noise. They did a very good job containing the construction dust/debris, everyday they laid down drop cloths where they would be going in and out of the house. All of the subcontractors were also very clean with their work, communication, and did a very good job. Our 1950's Cape Cod is now cozy and warm for the winter, and we can only expect that it won't be so hot in the summer either. The finished product is that it is like we have a new home from our stairs on up into our bedroom and the entire upstairs is properly insulated now!
Description of Work: Jim and Nick removed all the paneling in the upstairs bedroom, removed all old (R6) insulation. They discovered some old water and carpenter ant damage in the wall and repaired that section. Also, due to the structure of our house, to meet code, additional floor joists and a support beam in the basement ceiling was needed to properly bear the weight of the room. New electrical was run to the upstairs bedroom, including wiring for recessed lights and an electric baseboard heater. New smoke detectors/alarms were installed. Initially, the alarms for the bedroom and stairway to the 2nd floor were going to be installed but Jim suggested additional ones for the 1st floor and basement for added safety. These smoke dectectors are linked together so that if one goes off for example in the basement, all alarms are triggered. The entire upstairs was insulated properly- surrounding the bedroom area, rafters, and attic side. Knee walls were built on the attic side to create 'cold' spaces for air flow. All areas insulated and a vapor barrier was put up. The bedroom had drywall installed and a orange peel texture was applied to not only the bedroom but also the stairway leading to the upstairs for a more uniform look. All newly drywalled areas were primed and painted. New trim was primed, painted, installed, with all nail holes filled and painted over. The old doors were also painted to match. Jim also built a custom cabinet for a recessed area for additional built in storage. An access hole had to be cut in our 1st floor dining room wall to run electrical, but the drywaller did an excellent job patching it, and you can't even tell that there was a hole there!

Jim Sage had remodeled one bathroom in our home about a year before and we were so happy with the process and results that we had him back to redo another bathroom. His most impressive skill, which was a large reason we picked Sage Home Services, was his organization and detailed estimate. It took him a few days to prepare the estimate, but it was thorough and detailed and arrived exactly when he said it would. Although he was not the cheapest estimate, he was the most impressive and Jim gave us time to think about the estimate and job before we agreed. He also worked with us to pick out materials. The workers were professional and kept things as clean as possible. The entire experience was very positive. We would definitely use Sage Home Services again in the future and highly recommend them.

We were replacing our roof and he was recommended to us by a friend. His was the lowest bid by a significant amount. We also were replacing a sliding patio door. He helped me order the correct size of the door. We did not have a firm date for the installation of the roof or door but assumed that it would occur within a couple months which was ok. It turned out that he had a larger much more lucrative project that took longer than planned. So our roof was delayed by a month or more. Once they got started, everything went well. They were clean, efficient and the roof looks good. Jim Sage, the owner, also is part of the crew as this is a small company. I think he is very trustworthy and skilled but he doesn't always call back in a timely fashion. Usually e-mail is good. I would use him again for any project.

Overall, it was a great experience. Jim and his crew were timely, courteous and professional. We were told to expect some days to be messy, and the crew did their best to contain the dust and dirt and cleaned-up every evening. We were given a time line for the project, and they only went over the schedule by two days. What we immediately liked about Sage was their commitment to quality work. There were a few drywall spots that Jim didn't like, so he had his subcontractor come back and re-work it. Jim installed the glass block window and subway tile on the wall, and did an amazing job. We get compliments on it from all our guests. We are so pleased with the finished project. Jim knew we wanted to keep the style of our new bathroom similar to the style of our home and gave great advice to guide us toward tile, trim and fixture choices.
Description of Work: Sage remodeled our 1st floor bathroom. The main goal was to fix several eye sores and to add a shower. This involved gutting almost everything in the bathroom except for the bathtub and medicine cabinet. The following was installed/done to this bathroom: glass block window in the new shower, subway tile in the new shower, the old tub was retrofitted for shower fixtures, exhaust fan, pinwheel floor tile, new toilet, electrical was updated, outside wall was insulated, new pedestal sink and new drywall/concrete board.
